Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills:Don't expect Flynn to have any supernatural abilities; he does not. This guy's as mortal as anyone can be and magic has barely been involved in his life (Rapunzel's creepy magical hair is, of course, an exception). Even then, having pretty much raised himself on his own, the thief has picked up some neat tricks along the way.
Parkour: Flynn's whole battle style pretty much falls under the parkour category, one that is common among criminals but uncommon among guards and do gooders. It basically consists on using the enviroment to one's advantage, being able to avoid obstacles with ease and move throughout the battle field with speed. Rolling, running, jumping and climbing, Flynn is quite proficient with this "technique", always finding a way out of those seemingly unavoidable situations (well, not always... but he has lived to tell the tale so far!)
Superior speed: Nothing superhuman or anything among those lines. Flynn is rather quick on his feet, being able to outspeed most, if not all foes without a super speed to call their own.
Fencing: Though certainly not a powerhouse, Flynn is able to defend himself against unpleasant company with his fencing skills. He's certainly not an expert in the style (hell, he doesn't actually enjoy having a sword in his hand) but he has managed to hone his skills and practice with anything he could find throughout the years. Currently he's using a rather drastic variation of fencing with Rapunzel's Frying Pan, and while his range is drastically limited, it is much easier to swing this interesting choice of weapon around than the standard sword.
Horseback Riding: Though rarely practiced as of late for obvious reasons, Flynn has picked up this nifty ability throughout his years as a thief, having used horses and similar creatures to execute his raids. He's decent enough, but certainly not a master.
The Epic Smolder of Doom: Or simply known as "The Smolder". Flynn claims that it's his ultimate technique, only used for emergencies or for those tight spots he can't sweet talk himself out of. No words can actually describe such an invention; it is certainly not a smile, but it's not your grandma's kissy kissy goo goo face either. The effects of The Smolder haven't been actually revealed with precision, but the thief assures everyone asking that it's capable of getting him out of any dangerous situation. He claims that it's effective on anyone except Rapunzel, but the truth on this matter has yet to be seen.
Weapon/Items:
Rapunzel's Frying Pan: Oh, what a nifty invention we have here! Though it lacks the magical properties that you can find in most weapons, this frying pan is lighter than a sword and certainly smacks harder than one, plus it's decent when dueling. Flynn actually keeps this one around because of personal reasons (aka it belongs to Rapunzel).
Picture: Appearance:Standing at exactly six feet, Flynn is the true embodiment of “dashing handsomeness”… or so he claims to be. Even then, that old tall tale of his isn’t as far from the truth as one would normally think it would; his gifted looks have gotten him out of trouble countless times, and if it weren’t for that charming smolder of his the scoundrel wouldn’t be around to tell the tale.
Across the years, his body has been carefully shaped to be easy on the eyes (those ladies go wild around him!) yet still slender enough for him to go running and climbing all over the place. Speed is essential for a man after all, especially a man that has spent most of his life fleeing from the King’s soldiers. Of course, this does not mean that he’s only good for dancing his way out of trouble; if the situation requires it, Flynn is more than capable of landing a barrage of loaded punches to knock out a lucky guard or two.
His face, however, is the true object of his pride or, more eloquently said, the apple of his eye. A rather long mane of silver covers the thief’s “beautiful” head, flopping over his forehead while leaving his ears untouched. He also sports a pair of chocolate eyes to match, known for captivating many young hearts with their uncommon level of expression. His nose is defined, straight (and quite unique as those posters never seem to get it right) while his lips aren’t thick at all. And, of course, Flynn Rider wouldn’t be complete without that trademark goatee of his he often spends hours grooming (not really, but still it’s impressive).
His attire is similar to that of the common thief, yet still keeping that personal touch of his. To start things off, Flynn usually wears a long sleeved shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows for comfort and better movement, with a dark, navy blue vest on top of that for a “stylish” look. A pair of khaki trousers is set in place by a matching belt, holding a knapsack attached for all sorts of goods he can
steal find. And, last but not least, the scoundrel is never seen without his trusty pair of brown boots, always getting him out of harm’s way (and toward unwanted horses it seems).
Personality:
Arrogant, cocky, smug, and definitely vain, Flynn usually appears to be nothing more than a self-centered scoundrel, and, to a certain point, he can practically be just that. Initially one would think that he cares about nothing more than wealth, riches and fame, seeking a life reeked with self-spending and surrounded by enormous piles of money. However, beneath that fearless, cynical façade he enjoys showing around, Rider hides a noble heart, one that sometimes breaks free and acts on its own.
Flynn is certainly a gifted individual. Not only because of his looks, but because of that useful knack of his to charm his way out of the very same trouble he often enjoys creating. However, this talent hasn’t done much good for him in the friendship department, causing half of Corona’s merchants and the very royal house to start going after his head. Still, the man remained able to travel throughout the kingdom, using his resourcefulness to avoid detection and earn himself some time to kill with the ladies.
Speaking of women, Flynn Rider absolutely adores these wonderful specimens and they certainly love him back. Redheads, blondes, brunettes… they’re all after him and the scoundrel enjoys it. Of course, the man has seen himself forced to flee more than once from the ladies, especially when their craziness reaches a whole new level and they start spelling out COMMITMENT during breakfast.
However, as stated before, Flynn isn't really that bad once you get used to his sarcastic demeanor. He is actually pretty laid back and slightly good-hearted, not really giving a damn unless he or one of his allies are under rather unpleasant circumstances (such as being chased by one or two of his criminal rivals). And, of course, if one of his buddies is feeling down, Rider always has one of his jokes ready to use, or at least an encouraging word to put a smile on their face.
Ever since he met Rapunzel and started hanging around her, the scoundrel began to show compassion and chivalry, one step at a time. He has proven to be trustworthy and perhaps even sensitive as of late, and there's no doubt that the blond had something to do with these changes. Even though he doesn't admit it out loud, Flynn has begun to think about his very own dream once again, realizing that it has started to change into something bigger and tender. Bah, damn that Rapunzel.

History:Growing up as an orphan, Eugene's childhood wasn't exactly all glitter and smiles and sparkles. In fact, it was quite the opposite. There was only so much happiness a kid like him could have in an orphanage, especially in a cruel one like the one he ended up in. There wasn't anything wrong with the workers that visited the house every day; actually most of them were quite alright. The other kids and their stupid hierarchy system, however, were another story. The male wasn't really what you'd call "popular" during his first years among the other boys, being object to the older kids' mockery and teasing. After all someone with a rather funny last name, such as Fitzherbert, couldn't be ignored for too long.
However, Eugene managed to endure all those years of constant humiliation, swallowing the anger and rage he felt every time he was insulted until he finally snapped. Oh, and did he give them a piece of his mind. Of course, he wasn't one to randomly throw punches at other people but his savvy attitude was a decent enough weapon for the time being. The bullies slowly started to lessen their obnoxious harrassment, preferring to bother other targets after they realized that their favorite one had finally learned how to bite back.
However, it still wasn't enough.
He hated the orphanage. He wanted to get out of there more than anything in the whole wide world. But, at the end of the day, Eugene saw himself forced to admit that he wouldn't be escaping any time soon... at least it was that way until Flynnigan Rider slapped him awake and dug deep into the boy's mind and soul.
It all started when he was ten years old. The Kingdom of Corona, in an attempt to extinguish the illiterateness across the land, had begun giving out dozens of books to every orphanage within its territory, including Eugene's. The boy, curious about all the commotion, sneaked around the building and snatched one of the books under everybody's noses: "The Tales of Flynnigan Rider". As soon as he began to read, Eugene found himself unable to put the damn book down; he was absorbed by the adventures of the brave, daring and shrewd swashbuckler and it all seemed so real to him while he read. Eventually, the boy started to share the stories with the younger kids before bedtime, attempting to do justice to the man that had just become his hero. He practically worshipped Rider like a deity; he was everything that Eugene wanted to be. Flynnigan had enough money to do
anything he wanted and to go
anywhere he wanted. He rode a horse, rescued the beautiful princess and always saved the day. Plus, he had a nicely trimmed goatee.
During the next six years Eugene followed his idol's example, enduring poverty, hunger and the everyday teasing (which had been considerably toned down, but still remained present). But eventually, he decided that he had had enough of that miserable life. Without saying goodbye to absolutely anyone, Fitzherbert ran away from the orphanage, taking nothing but the little he had to call his own: his clothes, that leather satchel a nice, rich lady had given him ages ago and, of course, his book.
And thus, Flynn Rider was born.
At first, the young man had managed to survive with ease, managing to get by with the little money he earned from the bar he now worked in. However, knowing that he could be better... knowing that the original Flynnigan Rider was definately better than him... it pushed him into taking the easy way. So he stole. He started small at first, taking just what he needed to survive or to buy new clothes. But the more he took, the more he felt he needed and, before he even knew it, Eugene found himself consumed by greed.
Eventually, and as time went by, "Flynn Rider" started to build himself quite a nifty reputation. Having been raised in a female-less enviroment, he realized how good-looking he was (or, as he liked to put it: "effortlessly handsome") and started using such assets to his advantage, thus creating his trademark "smolder" technique to escape the crime scene and avoid capture. By the age of twenty six, the thief had been donned the title of "Corona's Most Wanted", and the reward for his capture would go up to skyrocketing numbers once he laid eyes on the most valuable relic of the land: the lost princess's crown.
However, Flynn knew that he wouldn't be able to pull this one off on his own; he needed a pair of disposable lackeys to serve as a distraction and/or bait for him to claim the prize. And thus, a partnership with the dim-witted Stabbington Brothers was created. Fun.
Long story short, the trio successfully managed to snag the little headpiece. Unfortunately their little scheme didn't go unnoticed and they soon found themselves chased by a large band of guards into the nearby forest. But, hell no, Flynn Rider wasn't intending to be captured that day; tricking the Stabbington Brothers into distracting the guards, he killed two birds with one stone and ran as fast as he could. The pursuers were gone and he had the crown all for himself... or so he thought. Before he could even process what was going on, the thief soon found himself chased by a peculiar white horse.
Fortunately, he managed to get away and seek refuge in a nearby tower... before being knocked out cold. Flynn eventually recovered and woke up, but only to find out he was the prisoner of a crazy girl with long ass hair. Hell, she was using her hair to keep him tied to a chair. Eventually, she promised to release him and return his satchel (yes, she had taken his satchel and hidden it along with the crown) IF he took her to the floating lantern ritual the King and Queen hosted every year. The thief wasn't too keen on the idea of bargaining but, after his signature smolder had no effect on the female at all, he was ultimately forced to play along.
Flynn, however, decided to try and get his satchel sooner and avoid all the trouble by taking her to one of the scariest places in Corona: The Snuggly Duckling. That bar was often visited by all kinds of criminals, the good and the bad, and she would probably be so frightened that she'd beg for him to take her back to the tower. But, of course, the girl (who's name he learned was Rapunzel) charmed the pub's locals and they were all randomly involved in a dream themed musical number (including Flynn, who saw himself forced to join in upon having dozens of sword and scythes pointed at him). Suddenly, however, the cursed horse (and the royal guards) from earlier interrupted the utter cheer and joy and Rapunzel and Flynn were soon forced to escape through a secret passageway.
It didn't take long for the guards to catch up with them, as well as the Stabbington Brothers who were now free for some reason. Ultimately, Flynn was forced into a duel with that cursed horse; Rapunzel's frying pan versus that animal's sword. But before anyone could process the craziness of these events, the nearby dam broke, releasing countless amount of water as they washed everyone away. Fortunately, Rapunzel and Flynn managed to make it into a cave but the water was flowing in rapidly. He tried pressing on the roof, trying to find a loose rock to make an opening, but the only thing he found was a cut on his hand. It was then that Rapunzel started to cry, apologizing for dragging him into this certain death... and it was then that Flynn told her his real name. It had been so long since it had escaped his lips, but it felt good... to have someone know before he died.
And it was then that Rapunzel conveniently remembered that her hair glowed when she sang... wait, what?!
Just before the water completely engulfed them, she started to sing and her long, blonde hair lit up like a Christmas Tree. Now able to see things clearly (even though they were underwater), Flynn managed to find a way out and it wasn't long before they were out of immediate danger once again. However, the thief was seriously freaking out, especially when the girl stated that her hair didn't only glow. Quickly wrapping her hair around his injured hand, Rapunzel sang the tune she had hummed back at the cave... and healed his hand.
What. The. Hell.
Now he was
certainly freaking out. One thing led to another and Rapunzel (who had taken a strange liking to calling him "Eugene") slowly began to open up to him, revealing small bits of her life back at the tower to him. Unfortunately it wasn't long before she threw the ball back at his court and Flynn saw himself forced to tell her about his background and Flynnigan Rider (well, not exactly forced... it was nice to actually tell someone about it, even though he wouldn't admit it).
The next morning, something utterly wonderful happened: that stupid horse caught up with them, and Rapunzel was taking his side! At least Maximus agreed to keep him away from trouble for the time being. A few hours later, they finally reached the city; this was it, Rapunzel's dream was about to come true. The evening was rather pleasant: a couple of girls agreed to braid Rapunzel's hair (she was tripping all over the place because of its length) and both of them found themselves involved in the local kingdom dance.
However, when night fell upon them, the real show began. Flynn borrowed a small canoe from a local fisherman and decided to take Rapunzel to the middle of the lake where the lanterns would be released. She seemed nervous, scared, wondering if this was actually a good idea. The laidback thief, however, put her troubles to ease and simply told her "Well, that’s the good part of it, I guess. You get to find a new dream".
Suddenly hundreds of lights rose above their heads, filling the sky with their warmth and joy. It was then that Rapunzel took out the thing he had been willing to die for twenty four hours ago: his satchel. She simply handed it over, stating that she wasn't scared anymore... and he completely understood what she meant. If there was one thing he had learned from that small, short journey, it was just that; there are better and greater things than money and wealth and riches... and one of them was sitting just before him. Taking her hands in his, Flynn stared deep into her eyes, their lips almost touching when...
They came.
The lanterns were suddenly extinguished by a deep, unbreakable darkness. Everything turned pitch black; screams could be heard from the nearby city and beyond the castle walls. Shadows moved with haste, adding hearts to their collection before slowly creeping into the waters. And it was then that he felt fear. And it was then that he thought of the worst. How could life be so cruel?!
Knowing there was no way out of this situation, Eugene embraced the girl with his arms, attempting to shield her from the approaching darkness... attempting to protect her from the evil that had begun to consume Corona....
Role Playing Sample:
His eyes flung wide open. His breathing was hard and his heartbeats were intense, rapid. It felt like his heart was just about to burst out of his chest any minute now, and he himself would have probably believed it if he was still a kid. Light immediately struck his eyes and, for some reason, he felt pain. Damn, why did he feel like a royal carrage had just run over him? The man shut his eyes close, slowly acknowledging those screaming signals of pain his body apparently enjoyed to thrust around. His limbs ached; hell, his whole being felt like it was just set on fire... not that he actually knew how that felt, but he was certain that it was close enough to what he was going through.
Slowly recovering his senses, he could feel something hard against his back and it was unexpectantly delightful. The man let out a single grunt, caressing the cold street of concrete that laid beneath his body. He opened his eyes once more, squinting at first as they gradually adjusted to the light. What the hell was this place? And, more importantly, how had he gotten there? He took a deep breath, blinking a couple of times until his eyes felt no blinding pain anymore. It seemed like he was on some sort of city, but definately not one he had visited before. He glanced around, taking note of the cobblestone walls and the abundance of brown roofs.
Nope, this was definately not the Kingdom of Corona.
The thief attempted to remember recent events; he was certainly confused by now and, even though he wouldn't say it out loud, knowing his surroundings would put give him some peace for the time being... at least until he could figure out a way out of this place. And, as he pondered, Flynn Rider begun to recall some of his newest memories: there were the Stabbington Brothers, yup those guys probably hated him now; there was the nice, small crown he had stolen with the pair's help before he ditched them in the forest; and there was that cursed cobblestone tower he had climbed before meeting that crazy b-
Damnit.
"RAPUNZEL!" And as quickly as he would have under a royal ambush, Flynn rose from the sidewalk, ignoring the pain that had just emerged from such quick and sudden movements. He turned around, desperately looking for any sign of her long, braided blonde hair among the structures nearby before calling out her name once again, this time with more intensity.
Those... things... those monsters... they couldn't have gotten her, could they? He had been protecting her with his own body; they would have needed to deal with him before even finding themselves capable of reaching her. If he was still alive, then Rapunzel was definately still around. She couldn't be... no, she absolutely couldn't. But then again, what if he himself wasn't exactly "alive"?
Calm down, Eugene, calm down. There's no need to panic, no need to start freaking o-
Suddenly, without any warning, the thief heard footsteps from a paralel street... coming closer... closer... closer to his current position.
Alrighty... this is definately the time to start freaking out.Slightly turning his head, Flynn was able to catch a glimpse of an object not that far from where he had "landed". He quickly approached its location and, upon closer inspection, realized that it was nothing but a weapon he had wielded recently. An unorthodox weapon, to be exact. Rapidly trotting toward the end of the street, Rider held the frying pan high, his back against the wall as he prepared himself to smack any hostile company...
