Name: Xigbar
"The Freeshooter"
Age: Unknown, and inapplicable; appears in his late 30's or 40's
Gender: Male
Species: Nobody
Position: No. II in Organization XIII
Powers:
Perhaps as an adaptation to his lost eye, Xigbar possesses a unique hunter's sight in addition to his other abilities. Similar to a wolf's peripheral vision, he can spot even the slightest flutter of movement from anywhere at most 30 yards away. His 'sixth sense', if you will, perceives energies in a slightly different way than most, allowing him to pick up on many things most people would miss.
Unfortunately, while it helps his aim become deadly accurate, the ability does not completely make up for the effects of possessing only one eye. In fact, at times the amplitude of Xigbar's perception coupled with his single range of visibility puts him slightly off balance or induces a mild headache.
Spatial manipulationLevitation, warping through air, hanging upside down - the very enigmas of space are at Xigbar's mercy.
It is a tendency of his to teleport away as he fires, preventing foes from closing in and maintaining a strategic fighting range. Xigbar's abilities also allow him to control the paths of himself and his bullets via spacial rifts.
Gunslinger Xigbar is lethally proficient with his weapons, a pair of Sharpshooter Arrowguns. The barrage of bullets, coupled with his speed and command over space, makes him a fearsome opponent in battle.
Unfortunately, while the attacks have high range, the similarly high reloading time can prove to be disadvantageous. Xigbar can expel up to thirty-five bullets in rapid succession before taking a break to recharge. [Equivalent to two shorter posts or one longer one, IC time-wise.]
Xigbar's guns serve as vessels for his power. All his magical energy is stored with care inside them, sometimes emerging as energy-charged bullets. Apart from the mild but practical Fire or Aero spells he might have picked up somewhere along the line, this is the extent of his magical capabilities.
Limit break - Critical SnipeXigbar's limit break triggers the merging of his Arrowguns into the Sniper Rifle. Initially, his shots simply increase in power, and the bullets become larger; however, when the going gets rough, the energy he stored within his weapon emerges in the form of powerful energy-infused projectiles. The concentration of magic in each bullet becomes strong enough to ripple the air as they fly.
Critical Snipe lasts for only two rounds of bullets - the latter round, if in a pinch, can be infused with energy as previously stated and released at a much faster rate. This last-resort feature of the Limit Break expends all of Xigbar's magical potential. [And is only usable once per thread.]
:: Sniper Nobodies Xigbar commands a legion of lesser Nobodies known as Snipers. They take after their master in movement, possessing space manipulation and marksman abilities that, although not quite up to par with his own, mimic Xigbar's passably. If given enough time they can produce larger, slightly more damaging shots. However, a well-timed block can rebound the Nobodies' attacks, destroying them utterly.
:: Corridors of Darkness Like all Organization members, Xigbar can call upon the shadows for transportation, as he lacks a heart to corrupt within the darkness.
Weapon:
SharpshooterXigbar wields two silver and violet Arrowguns - lethal rifle-esque weapons with select features resembling those of a crossbow. Both bear similarities in their shape and markings to the Nobody insignia.
The shots from the Arrowguns range from a red lazer-like charge to crystalline diamond bullets, depending on the situation and energy Xigbar emanates through his weapons.
Sniper RifleCombined in his limit break, the two Arrowguns merge to form a single deadly weapon.
Xigbar's features are roughly hewn and proud. His face is scarred, with eyebrows that taper upwards at the ends, and ears that are diamond-shaped and pointed. A patch covers his right eye for a reason he never discloses. ("
You should've seen the other guy," is his typical cue to change the conversation. Immediately.)
Though strong and chiseled about his neck, chin, and shoulders, Xigbar's figure is muscular but not particularly thick. Rather, his body possesses the lithe but powerful quality of a hunter. His posture is typically laidback and confident, expression arrogant. A standard Organization cloak drapes his shoulders with peaked shoulders and little flare at the forearms.
Xigbar sports remarkably long, waist-length dark hair, streaked with silver and almost always tied back. His eyes are a tawny gold from his submersion into darkness.
Personality:
"He keeps an ear to the ground and a finger on the trigger."
Xigbar is a man whose main character traits include 'cocky', 'overconfident', and 'gun-savvy', whose speech is riddled with mocks and sarcasm, and who, although appearing blatantly indifferent to most going-ons, can be as unpredictable as Saïx on a full moon.
However, Number II is invaluable to the Organization. His character is tough and adaptable, and he relies on his instincts more so than his intelligence in many situations. Through various methods of spying, his intel on the happenings of the Organization is greater than that of any other member in its ranks. If a secret that interests him is discovered, one way or another he will unearth it further - although it is also a habit of his to disclose tidbits of information when he is in an antagonistic mood.
At times Xigbar's confident exterior can be disregarded, and it becomes evident that he takes life in stride. He prefers work in the field when not chained by the obligations of his administrative duties. He remains one of the few Organization members that can have a good time in an environment of silver and darkness. To him, there is never too little time for drinks with Xaldin or cards with Luxord. (Although the latter activity is, naturally, forever a losing battle.) All of the Organization - except, perhaps, for Xemnas - have received the brunt of his harsh sense of humor, some more so than others.
Despite his lax and occasionally impudent attitude, Xigbar is never one to lose sight of the goal.
Current World: The World that Never Was
Video Game: 358/2 Days, Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II
History:
Once, in another life, there was a man whose eyes were brown.
Under the orders of his master then, this man fought and lost to a keyblade wielder. Not only was his eye lost and his faced scarred in this failure, but a flare of anger was sparked in his heart, one that would gradually burn away at it until the man himself became a host for the darkness.
Thus, in another story, there was a man whose eye was gold.
This man dabbled in the human heart and its darkness. Under his influence, he and five other apprentices secretly continued the halted experiments of the man that was once their teacher and king. With them a great and terrible force, the Emblem Heartless, was unleashed upon the Worlds. And just as the worlds became swallowed by the darkness of their creation, so too were the apprentices' hearts.
Finally, in a new nonexistence, there was a man who had no heart.
Xigbar, the Nobody, alongside the five other fallen apprentices of Ansem the Wise, banished his previous master to the Realm of Darkness.
From then on their ranks grew and evolved into what has become the Organization XIII. Xigbar's duties as Xemnas' right-hand man were a motley of direct orders and stealthy observations; he himself was responsible for the recruitment of most of the newer members. His presence in meetings between he, Xemnas, and Saix, the second-in-command, was vital to the Organization's work.
In the later years of their existence, many of these private conferences became held over the Organization's new Key to Destiny - Roxas, the pivotal point towards their mastery of Kingdom Hearts - and then later the puppet Xion. However, while it was a pastime of his to drop hints about Roxas' existence every once in a while, or duel him for kicks or to evaluate his strength, it was Xion's existence that Xigbar soon found his own intertwined with. She was an enigma he took upon himself to monitor. Xigbar himself was the one to confront Xion as she attempted to leave the Organization, only to find himself faced with an illusion from the past.
"Of all the faces... Why do I look at her and see yours? Do you always have to stare at me like I just drowned your goldfish?"
Xion - Ventus? - struck Xigbar to the ground.
Many days after her failure, Xigbar traveled to the Land of the Dragons to augment the Organization's plans via a different method. There he successfully corrupted one of the creatures that supported the heart of the world. His Heartless manifestation of the world's guardian was summoned with the intention of harvesting hearts for the synthetic Kingdom Hearts; once its task was well towards completion, Xigbar set the Storm Rider upon the Imperial Palace, and the great beast was finished off with little effort expended on the Freeshooter's part.
After that partial success, however, Xigbar could only bear witness to failure. He stood proud and strong as he watched member after member fall around him. He never stopped working for the power of Kingdom Hearts, never ceased antagonizing the foolish heroes as they battled their way to the final confrontation.
He was laughing up to the final moments of his life.
And then he reveled in his rebirth.
Role Playing Sample:
Snowflakes drifted erratically, almost desperately, from the heavens, their descent to the ground hindered by the faintest breath of wind. Flurries of powder kicked up by the frigid breeze danced in the air with the fluidity of Dusks. Their grounded brethren blanketed the landscape in all directions, a sea of white consuming the stones and crags of the mountain. Only the sheerest peaks remained proudly bare.
A set of gold eyes flicked from one such stone crest to a glimmer of movement many yards down the mountain face. Under their watch a dark stain spread like ink across the ice, casting its harsh brightness into shadow. Oh, the irony.
In a flurry of crystalline bullets and snow, the mass of the writhing black creatures dissipated into darkness.
"Little gits."
Xigbar lounged against the cold stone of the cliff side for moments longer, watching, waiting.
His orders were to visit the Land of the Dragons, observe, then return to the castle and report. The mission was vague. He didn't need details. He knew what Xemnas was looking for - what
he was looking for - better than all the other members.
Fools, he smirked,
weaklings who yearn for a heart. And what are they gonna find if they get one? It was evident his current spot would yield nothing more. Xigbar dismissed his Arrowguns with a gesture, pushed himself off the cold rock, and continued his ascent.
The idiots would be stuck with a shell. Hell, if our hearts are so precious,
how come they're the reason we exist as nothing? He soon reached the summit. On his one side spanned the ever rising range of snow and stone; to his other the faint smoke of a village drifted lazily into the sky. The moon had risen during his travel up the mountainside, and the silvery beams of light illuminated the surrounding area and summoned clarity for miles around. Xigbar's gaze flicked back and forth over the horizon. Aureate eyes narrowed, searching. His muscles were stone.
There was no elation, no fear, vertigo, or adrenaline, even upon the single spur of rock on which he perched, elevated miles above the mountain base. The sheer cliff face plummeted downward directly underneath his boots. A usual, he felt nothing but the wind and the cold. He
was nothing.
And it was
old news.At last the golden eyes halted their skilled search, firmly locking onto a point in the distance. For the first time in a long while a part of him moved. His lips, which for the longest time had been set in concentration, twisted gradually into a triumphant, wolf-like grin. Soon the rest of him followed suit, becoming mobile again as if the night had sprung into life. He flicked up the hood of his coat, casting his features sharply into shade. His arm was raised, hand extended. He'd seen enough.
A swirl of violet and blackness erupted on the mountaintop. Without another glance, Xigbar stepped through the Corridor of Darkness and became swallowed by shadow.
