Name: Jinyri Ionesta
Nickname: Jin, Pawsy, she'll actually answer to any nickname anybody gives her, provided that it's not an insulting one.
Pawsy- The nickname was given to her by her mother because she was constantly putting her little mitts all over anything she could get her hands on, pawing at them and whatnot.
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Position: Neutral Good
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Honestly, the only thing she has going for her is her ability to endure things like tough weather and weak attacks. Jinyri actually has yet to learn any actual fighting skills. When she fights, she fights with instinct and emotion, and it's not very useful against anyone with actual fighting finesse. She could learn new skills though, it would just take a lot of time- And, of course, someone willing to teach her.
As far as techniques go, the only planned thing she's okay at is making an ambush, provided that the terrain is right. Her attacks are, at best, mediocre, and they're easily dodged.
However, outside of battle, she's good at hunting animals for prey, and she's good at fishing- If she sits still long enough.
The only thing lethal that she is good at is cooking. Anyone who has seen something she has cooked
swears that it has moved.
Weapon/Items: Jinyri's weapon is her claw gloves, and she likes to hide out up in higher places so that way she can surprise an enemy. For the most part though, she's a melee fighter and she relies quite heavily on luck. The claws are about three inches long, requiring her to get up close and personal with anyone she wants to fight.
She also has a small knife that she uses for various things, such as cleaning and skinning her kills, which will probably never, EVER be described in detail, and also for cutting rope and stuff.
A small spool of fishing wire to make a makeshift fishing rod if she needs it.
She has a couple of trinkets that only really have sentimental value. One of them is a little bag of roughly polished rocks that her mom gave her, and the other is a friendship pendant that Marno gave her. She never wears the pendant though, it’s always kept in the bag that has the stones in it.
Picture: Here we go~Appearance: While Jin is short for her age, her endurance makes up for it. Her hair is a purple that could be mistaken for brown if seen from far away, and it could easily be likened to a massive pillow of fuzz, it's so poofy and frizzy. Jinyri's eyes are a light brown, though her hair almost always covers them. In terms of figure, she’s like an ironing board, but her hips do stick out a bit. If she was to take off her cloth boots, you would see that her feet are tiny, with big toes that just don’t match. It would take a king’s ransom to pay her to take off her shoes though, she doesn’t like exposing her toes because Marno once told her that if she didn‘t cover her toes up, a little monster would eat them. Her fingernails are short and somewhat scruffy, there’s usually a bit of dirt under them, and they always look like they’ve been chewed. Admittedly, no matter what she does, her hair is always a bit mussed. She has no other outfits to wear at this point, so she always has the same thing on, though sometimes she'll take her bolero off if it's too warm out. There's almost always a smile on her face as well, almost like it's been plastered on. Jinyri does have pierced ears, but she has no earrings, so they're empty.
Personality: She's happy go lucky and pretty much the only situation that will really, really get her down is someone dying, or a severe breach of trust. Of course, if she gets frustrated, she gets upset far more easily. She's pretty forgiving, and is a little bit mischievous. Jin can be obnoxious and overly silly, as well, but if someone actually shows hostility towards her for it, she won't talk much around them, and when she does, she'll be extremely quiet. She also won't trust them as much. She is also a sucker for fish-related dishes, or just fish in general. Jin also has a tendency to nickname random stray animals she finds in cities/worlds, and she likes to see if she can get them to follow her around if she's in a city.
Her patience runs thin easily, and it's hard for her to focus for more than a few minutes unless whatever has her attention is incredibly, and I mean
incredibly awesome. Jinyri also likes to follow people around and she thinks that she's great at it- But she's about as subtle as an elephant trying to hide behind a baby's blanket. In addition to all this, she is incredibly naive, and will believe anything anyone tells her, provided that she hasn't caught them in the act of lying before.
When fighting, she becomes extremely easy to upset, and more sensitive to jabs about her fighting style and, well, everything. The more upset she is during a fight, the more she'll suck, because her emotions do affect her accuracy, because her emotions are what she relies on in battle.
Original World: Jinyri's world was somewhat like her- Upbeat, cheerful, and full of naive people who were willing to trust anybody. It was a bit chaotic, and people were a little off the walls. It had an animalistic nature to it, and no special spiritual beliefs. They did have a tradition where when someone reaches the age of fifteen, they would leave their hometown and they seek their calling elsewhere in the world. The world itself was essentially a rocky tropical forest with high mountains and rolling hills topped with trees that stretch higher than anyone could ever dream of. A large desert encircled the forest of the world, and few people ventured out into it, simply because of how intimidating it was. Her world doesn't have a name, she just calls it Home.
Current World: Traverse Town
History: In terms of the timeline, Jinyri was on her home world during the events of BBS, KHI, and KHII.
Jinyri grew up being the second youngest of a rather large brood of about 8 kids. Her family was huge, and still is, actually, with a ton of cousins and aunts and uncles, and grandparents, god parents, with just about every large family stereotype you could imagine. It was incredibly hectic and crazy, what with a bunch of kids running around screaming at the top of their lungs and playing games like tag or red rover. She was never without anyone to play with, at all. Of course, as her siblings started buying gummi ships and leaving, soon it was just her and her little sister, Marno, who was the only other girl out of the bunch.
All of her brothers had left her hometown at the age of fifteen, as is the tradition of her world. They left and journeyed to find out what they were good at. By the time her last brother left, Jin was around thirteen, so that left her only two years with her sister. During that time, the two developed a close bond, being the only Ionesta children left. They fished together and they did all sorts of things. Oddly enough, Jin learned her hunting skills from Marno, as well as her fishing skills, and her ambushing skills. She wasn't always the outdoorsy person she is today, it was Marno who was always good at that, fighting and hunting and whatnot.
The two years passed by faster than both of them would've liked, and Jinyri was given her going away presents- A little bag of shiny non-precious stones from her mother, and a handmade wooden pendant that her sister gave her, carved in the shape of a paw-print. Her father simply gave her a few provisions that she could eat during her travels. After receiving her gifts, she left, heading towards the closest forest borders. Not many people had been to the desert at the edge of her world, and she wanted to be one of the few who went there and came back with tales of what might lie beyond the lush lands.
A week into her travels, she had finished off the food her father gave her and the desert was within view, though still quite far away. She hadn’t been traveling for long, but it was a tough journey to make all alone. She was someone who was used to people, and a whole week without anybody made her heart heavy. It had been a while since she’d gotten a good night of sleep, so Jinyri decided to dedicate a day to nothing but resting. Instead of packing up her camp like she normally would, the girl simply went back to sleep.
A little while later, she woke up only to see that the sky had turned black and that the moon was completely blotted out by darkness. Jinyri, having just woken up, assumed that she was dreaming and just went back to sleep, only to be woken up by a sharp pain on her side. The woke up again, completely awake this time. She saw a bunch of bright yellow eyes staring at her. She attacked it only to find that her attack simply went right through it. Terrified, the girl grabbed her bag and booked it, right up the nearest tree. In her panic to get away from the weird monsters, she made the mistake of getting onto a branch that wasn’t strong enough to support her weight. She fell and everything went black.
When she woke up, she was confused, shocked, and in Traverse Town. The pack that she’d grabbed was gone, but somehow, a few of the things that had been in it were in her pockets. This included her fishing wire, the stones her mother had given her, her hunting knife, and Marno’s pendant. As for her gloves, they were still on her hands. She didn’t know where she was, or what had happened.
Role Playing Sample: The fish swam cautiously towards the worm, enticed by the delicious scent it gave off. For whatever reason, the worm was floating, even though they usually sunk, and it was writhing about in agony. But the fish, being, well... A fish, didn't really care. It had been days since he'd seen such a juicy looking morsel, and the last time he'd seen one, a big fish had eaten it before he could even take a nibble. Not this time, though. He inched closer and closer, and took a quick glance around to check for predators before finally darting at the worm and inhaling it in one quick bite. It was only then that he noticed the strange line that was coming from his mouth, and he pulled hard to escape it, driving the hook that the worm had been on into his lips.
Jinyri felt the tug and gave a cry of delight. "I've got one, I've got one!" She cried as she gave the fishing pole a quick tug and began reeling. The fish that was on the line fought hard, trying to swim away, but to no avail. When it came to anything related to fish, Jin simply refused to back down. She simply reeled in faster, keeping an eye on the line to make sure it didn't get too tight, lest it snap. She was simply starving, and she'd been sitting at the edge of the river waiting for over an hour. This fish simply
had to be caught, or else she'd have to sit there for even longer, and die of boredom.
As she brought the fish closer and closer to her spot on the bank, the fish became even more desperate. He surfaced and jumped about the water as hard as he could, almost tugging Jinyri into the river at one point. But the hook was set deep, and there was absolutely no escape for the silver scaled creature. Finally, the girl reeled him in and took him out of the water. Gripping the wriggly fish tight- making sure to smooth down his spiny fins so as not to get a painful sting- she quickly removed the hook from his mouth and dispatched him as swiftly and painlessly as possible. With a big grin on her face, she gave little jump for joy and then knelt down next to a flat rock and proceeded to clean the fish.
It was medium sized, just enough for her to devour and feel full and content. With a giggle, she took the now cleaned fish and stuck him on a sharp stick she'd scrubbed completely clean. Jin started towards her little fire pit, then frowned upon seeing it. Of course she'd forgotten to light a fire... How many times had Marno told her not to forget to light a fire? Now, the first time she was out on her own, she completely forgot! How silly of her!
With a whiny groan, she grabbed a couple of sticks from the small pile she'd made and threw them into the pit. Jinyri absolutely hated starting fires, she was horrible at it. But, it was a necessity if she wanted to actually be able to eat her hard won prize, so she grabbed a pair of sticks that she'd set off to the side and started rubbing them together. To be honest, Marno had always done the fires for her, and she'd tried to teach her, but Jinyri refused to listen.
"Why am I so dumb, I should've totally listened to her, cripes!" She thought, a look of frustration on her face. This wasn't working so well.
With a sigh, she gave up and looked at her skewered fish, only to see a big red bird swoop down and grab it off of it's rock. Her jaw dropped, and she jumped to her feet. "Bring that back, you stupid bird!" She hollered, feeling dismal as she watched the bird fly far away. Jinyri watched until the bird was a mere dot in the sky, frowning all the while. It wasn't often she felt this sad, but hey, it wasn't often something like this happened. The girl uttered a cry of rage and sadness before plopping down on the ground and sighing. "I'll try again tomorrow..." She muttered. So much for her first camping trip alone, it was turning out to be kind of crappy.
