In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

The world was so lonely to Ashe, and it was all she could do to wander the streets of Radiant Garden, browsing shop windows or vendor stalls. However, she had no form of currency, and was instead focused on learning the whereabouts of her ship. She had asked around, but people tended to ignore her. Even in the bar she had been turned away, though one man had tried to hit on her. And for all she cared, he could still be in that alley cradling his broken arm.
As she fingered a few bracelets she was looking at, she overheard the shopkeeper discussing soemthing with another man.
That big fireball aparently hit the Heartless castle outside town...looked like a ship.
She suddenly went tense, but didn't comment and just walked away. She knew of the Heartless castle, but she hadn't thought of looking there, due to the multitudes of Heartless, which she assumed was their home. A few trips to the crystal area had taught her to be wary of them, and more than once she had to use Belias to escape. So, as she stood in the bailey of Radiant Garden, she stared at the castle, wishing there was a way she could get there without incident.

A narrow shroud of darkness billowed across the skies above the Villian's Vale. The clouds were a thin smudge in the heavens above the brooding castle, growing slightly bigger the closer they approached the Bailey.
Moments later they towered above the vacant overlook. The shadows swirled and touched lightly to the ground, leaving a man standing upon the cold flagstone. He watched still and expressionless as they spiraled away to rejoin the night.
Then he fell to one knee, clutching his chest through the thin fabric of his shirt. Something had gone wrong. His heart. What had that devil done? What had he done?
He had intended to take to the air as always, to throw himself to the winds and hope to catch a favorable draft. But then the darkness around him dove inward, seeking for something of his to steal. He had been fortunate. The memories of Aeolus had erupted from his heart - yes, he could remember the name of his home world now, among a few other things - and must have served as a shield towards the darkness.
A cold wave of fear washed over him. He could only guess the extent of their protection.
I am a fool.
Eventually the simultaneous burning and numbness within his heart began to subside. Setzer released his death grip of the fabric and gingerly got to his feet. For now, he'd waste no time worrying over a threat he couldn't concretely perceive. He was in a new world now, had new priorities to attend to. He took a breath and shifted his cloak about his shoulders.
After a moment of surveying his surroundings - a stone street with a gate to the far side, overlooking a vast blue dip in the land from which a dark castle stood lone and proud - Setzer's violet eyes set upon the back of a distinctly feminine figure some yards away. He straightened. Well, thus far this world suited him.
Had she seen the darkness he'd arrived in? Setzer, curious, approached the woman, bowing grandly as he came near. "My lady," he said politely, grinning subtly. "Might I ask where precisely I am?"

With a quick turn, Ashe looked to the person who had spoken, half expecting one of her knights. The term "My Lady" wasn't used to her by others in radiant Garden, and it slightly caught her off guard. With a glance down, she said, "This is Radiant Garden, or so I've been told." She looked closer at the man, noticing the style of clothing and looks.
"You seem to be unfamiliar to this world, as am I." She held out a single hand and said, "Queen Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca, though the queen part doesn't hold much here. It is quite an honor. And might I know your name? You are the first non-native I have encountered, and the others are as secretive as the viera."

A queen. It was his nature to address with formalities; however, Setzer hadn't expected to actually be speaking with royalty. Evidently, this 'Radiant Garden' had no such hierarchy - but Ashelia had said herself that she wasn't from here. It was strange. Her clothing was unfamiliar, but not entirely foreign to him. Not like some of the Twilight Town attire. Her bearing, her looks. . . a simple first impression was not much to go off of, but she reminded him of someone all the same.
"The honor is mine," said Setzer, taking her hand and bowing briefly to touch his lips to it before straightening. "It is a pity, your highness, that your title means little here. My name is Setzer. I'm afraid I cannot tell you much more than that - I'm not too sure of the details myself, you see."
He looked over the vast blue valley for a moment, his eyes having caught on the dark tower sprouting from the center. He fought down the instant revulsion that he couldn't quite explain. Tearing his eyes away from the oppressive silhouette, Setzer instead focused on the dying rays of sun on the horizon. If he was to find a room to sleep in tonight he had to get going.
Turning to Ashelia he asked, "Perhaps you will accompany me into the town?" Spontaneous as always, he held out his arm, bending his elbow as a groom might for a bride. The corners of his mouth tilted upward. "I'd enjoy hearing about these 'viera' that you speak of for a while. It is not a term I am familiar with."
Ashe couldn't help but smile as Setzer greeted her in his polite fashion, with a small giggle. "Such a gentleman...you're type are quite rare around here." After he finished talking, she sighed and turned to face the castle in the distance.
"I am afraid that I can not accompany you, Setzer. I am currently on a quest to find my airship, the Anima. I have heard rumors that there was a crash at tat castle, and wish to investigate further." As she stared off, a single hand was clenched shut in front of her chest, and she said,
"I would love to tell you of the viera, but am afraid I must find the Anima. However, we could speak if you would be kind enough to accompany me." She did feel a little awkward asking Setzer, having just met him, but really needed the assistance.
Setzer lapsed into silence, staring at the woman before him. Airship.
He remembered now. Again, not all of it. Not nearly all of it. But the Blackjack, his flights around the world, bittersweet memories of long hours in the air, a trip to the stars; they all rose to the surface right then and tore at the healing hole in his heart. Setzer glanced down at his handsome but worn traveling coat. Something was missing, some key part of the fragments of his memory that would explain why each time a piece of his old world returned to him, he felt emptier.
His violet gaze refocused upon Ashelia. For once Setzer had been nearly rendered speechless. But then one silver brow arched, lips reformed a smile that masked all remaining traces of his bemusement, and:
"Indeed, I shall join you. I think. . . I have lost an airship as well."
If cards decided one's fate, then he had been dealt one hell of a hand today.

The way Setzer spoke of having an airship was a dead giveaway for Ashe. She pitied the man, but hid it to preserve his pride and said, "Please, Sir Setzer, if you would, call me Ashe. You are no subject of mine." And, with that, she hopped down from the roof onto the steps and walked to the enterance of the Ravines, which overlooked an entrance-like area. She stopped right before descending there, for she knew past that point was where most of the Heartless were located.
"Be careful out here, Sir Setzer. There are many who have fallen to the many traps of the Heartless."
And with that, she began her movement to the Crystal Ravines, sword drawn.
Setzer followed Ashe, amused in the fact that he had very little idea where they were headed.
"Be careful out here, Sir Setzer. There are many who have fallen to the many traps of the Heartless."
He quirked an eyebrow curiously, and leaned around the woman to get a better glance at the narrow trail before him. So there were Heartless in this world. The little devils were few and far between back in Twilight Town - the most he'd heard of them had been from a stray tourist or two. Their stories simply didn't compare to the occasional Dire Plant or Shadow weakling that appeared in the back allies of the peaceful, sunlit world.
As Ashe began to move, Setzer slipped behind her, appearing at ease as he strode along. Beneath his cloak he laid his fingers lightly upon the handle of his dagger. For some reason he doubted the worst this 'Radiant Garden' had to offer was a Poison Plant or two.
"So, my lady," he began sociably, although remaining alert of his surroundings as they moved deeper along the ravine, "Would now be an appropriate enough time to explain these 'viera' you had mentioned?"
"Ah, the viera. Well, they are a humanoid race, but have the features of a rabbit...if you know what that is, of course. They are very secretive and prefer to live in the forests of Ivalice instead of the cities. I have personally known a few, and they very arrely leave the confines of their homes..."
As they walked, she kept talking to the mabn, glad to have a friend, even if only briefly met. And so they walked, heading in the direction of the heartless castle. No Heartless attacked, for a change, and she was secretly relieved of this. As she stopped right before the cliff overlooking the Heartless castle, a glimpse of light caught her eye.
"In the distance...could that be Anima?"
As she approached closer to the cliff edge, she saw it closer...and the glint was red. She turned to tell Setzer, but felt her foot meet empty air. The cliff underneath her foot had crumbled, and she barely grabbed onto the ledge, letting out a yell.
And so the two conversed pleasantly as they strode towards the looming castle. Setzer found himself enjoying the company greatly. Their talk was engaging - although not enough to distract their attention from the surroundings. Setzer's eyes mirrored Ashe's, flicking from crag to crevice on alert for Heartless.
Quite a while later, Ashe stopped. Setzer followed her gaze curiously. It took him a moment to locate the glint in the distance that had caught her attention. He narrowed his eyes and shaded them with a hand, but still couldn't precisely make it out. Anima - her airship?
"I suppose we -" he glanced in her direction as he spoke. Immediately he noticed how alarmingly close the woman was to the edge of the cliff. "Careful, miss!"
Ashe turned, and to his dismay stepped backward as she did so, her furthermost foot striking air; Setzer cursed and lunged as she fell back, missing and falling instead to one knee. Suddenly aware of the cliff's height and the evident instability of the footing, the man stayed down and instead inched towards where Ashe - thankfully - had grabbed hold of the ledge. He grabbed her wrists, and with a grunt of effort managed to maneuver the two of them back on steady ground. There they sat for a moment, panting.
Then, although there was nothing humorous about the situation whatsoever, Setzer laughed.
"And you were telling me to be careful?" he chuckled. "I'm not sure which is more terrifying - the Heartless, or the woman that throws herself off of cliffs. Come, let's head towards that 'Anima' of yours."
As she was pulled up from the ledge, she hid her face from Setzer, the embarrassed blush burning her face a crimson red. "Thank you for saving me, how clumsy of me." she said, looking away from Setzer towards the castle. There had to be a way down there, and she looked for it, sweeping the area...
And the answer, when she found it, practically made her want to slap her forehead into her palm. Right where the cliff had fallen, about 5 feet down, was a large ledge that was hidden by the outcropping, yet had been revealed when the rock crumbled. As she looked over, she gestured to Setzer and jumped down, landing hard, but glad the rock was staying firm.
"It seems luck will lead us to our investigation, Sir Setzer. Let us continue."
With a smile, Setzer leaped down after the woman, his cape billowing in the air behind him. They continued down the short trail beneath the stone overhang, heading down towards the castle.
As they neared it, Setzer paused, shading his eyes to the glaring sun. Something had caught his eye. "Miss Ashe, might that be it over there?"
The afternoon sun reflected powerfully against the natural walls of the ravine, but a harsh red glint ahead of them suggested that more lay there than just rock. He spotted a glimpse of color. . . he blinked against the light, and it was gone. He had little idea of what her airship looked like - he doubted their worlds were similar enough that the very designs of their airships resembled each other - but he had a feeling they had found the Anima.
The only ominous thought to cross his mind regarded the state of the vessel itself.
Finally, the front door came within view of Ashe once again. She climbed the last few ledges, then stood on the top and drew her sword, holding it at the ready. As she looked around, something made her nervous, and she clenched her sword harder in her fist, turning it white with the force.
"Something seems off about this place...could it be the Heartless?"
Giving another sweep, seh saw another red glint, which blinded her for a second. After she regained eyesight, she looked again with a hand over her eyes and saw crimson and black. Her eyes widened, and she laughed and pointed.
"The Anima!"

Setzer grinned as they clambered up the last few ledges to reach the woman's ship. There it was, scarred by the crash and covered in a layer of crystal-like dust from the canyon walls, but still brilliant - the Anima, first airship he had seen since he had lost the Blackjack.
He strode around on area of the perimeter of the crash, hand to his chin in thought. The damage didn't look too bad. As he had thought, the design was different than his own, and he observed the prominent differences with curiosity. It was quite a bit smaller, for one thing, and a bit less complex. In fact. . . puzzled, Setzer's violet eyes raked the area, searching for what seemed to be missing from this wreckage.
"My lady. . ." he murmured, slipping into formalities again by mistake. "How. . . does your vessel fly?"
No matter how much he searched, he could not find an answer to how any of the fight-related devices he had seen so far in the rubble were powered.
"Magicite, a material that is found on my home world of Ivalice. It powers most of our technology, but it appears that my sources of magicite are gone."
Ashe stroked her chin in thought, wondering where her power source could have gone. Why would they be gone, but the ship be in one piece? Then it came to her, and her brows furrowed in frusturation.
"The Heartless must have taken the crystals for some reason, unknown to me. It seems that we'll have to find it to fly, but that may take a while..."
Once again thinking, she tried to think of alternate sources, when she suddenly had an idea.
"The Sword of Kings! It would have enough power to at least activate the ship, and possibly fly it! And I think it may be in the ship, so let's go taek a look!"
((//OOC: To answer your Cbox question, sure, Setzer can be with Ashe in Tia Dalma's shop, if you liek. :3))
