Nightfall: Chapter 2
Two years after the events of Dream Drop Distance, the Darkness became so great that it swallowed the worlds, locking them away within its merciless abyss.
Twilight Town, now covered in eternal night, stands as one of last Sanctuaries of Light. It is where players begin their journey.
Ever resourceful, the Moogles have created a safe place for refugees. They have charged the Denizens of Light with finding Castle Oblivion: it holds a key to the puzzle of the lost worlds.
But within the dark shadows of the sanctuary world a powerful dark force still looms, waiting to strike. Each survivor must choose whether to go to Castle Oblivion or stay behind to protect the world from the dragon that lurks in the shadows.
Nickname: Vape but only by family and close friends
Age: 17. Looks 15/16
Aqua Shot: Vapor gathers together water vapor from the air, to the palm of his hand, and compacts it to form a small sphere of water which he then launches toward an enemy. Once the sphere comes into contact with an object, the water disperses back into the air. It is relatively fast to prepare but Vapor cannot move his hand during preparation. Deals light damage and can be frozen to turn it into an ice ball which would deal slightly more damage. Can be cast without Hyd and Ro at full power but cannot be cast more than 6 times in quick succession as there becomes a lack of vapor in the surrounding air. Vapor can cast as many as he wants if it is raining.
Aqua Shield: Vapor holds Hyd and/or Ro out in front of him and creates a small circular barrier (about 5' 6 diameter) of water in front of him that blocks all small projectiles. The barrier can be broken by any large projectiles or an attack from a weapon. The shield lasts approximately 2 seconds and cannot be cast if Vapor is not holding Hyd and Ro. The shield can be cast if one of the two is in hand but will only be half strength.
Cure: Vapor can heal himself or one ally of small amounts of damage such as cuts and bruises but nothing large.
HydRo Raid: Vapor sends both Hyd and Ro spinning at the enemy in the same fashion as Strike Raid but with 2 weapons. Both weapons are surrounded by a cloak of water whilst spinning through the air. They return to the exact position they were thrown from so if Vapor moves after throwing them he risks not being able to catch them meaning he can be left weaponless.
Aqua Cyclone: Vapor hold Hyd and Ro out to his sides slightly off-angled and uses them to create high powered jets of water. He then spins on the spot at high speed using the force of the water to reach this speed. If looked at from above then the water would form a spiral shape with a 5m radius. Does not take time for the jets of water but takes time to reach top speed. This attack can be stopped at any point if Vapor is struck by a weapon. Most projectiles are either deflected or completely destroyed by the force of the water. If Vapor uses this ability then he becomes very weak so it is only used as a last resort until he becomes strong enough to use this power without using up almost all of his energy. This attack does medium to high amounts of damage depending on where the enemy is when struck (closer in does more damage) and cannot be used if not holding Hyd or Ro as both are required to make the jets of water.
All Vapor's powers are more powerful in the rain and less powerful in dry climates.
Hyd & Ro: 2 daggers. Vapor wields Hyd in his right hand and Ro in his left with Hyd being wielded forehand and Ro backhand. They are both identical except for their names scratched into their hilts. They are 8 inches long and 2 inches wide at the widest and their shape resembles Riku's Soul Eater without the ridges. They are a royal blue colour and are slightly curved. Also, instead of there being a sphere inside the hand guard, their is a cyan coloured sphere located about 2cm above the hand guard. These spheres grant Vapor the ability to create water in the form of things like Aqua Shield. If lost they can be retrieved by anyone, but only Vapor can access the magic abilities hidden inside the spheres. Vapor received these for his 10th birthday.
Vapor's only weapons are Hyd and Ro so if he loses them he must rely on Aqua Shot for damage as his other spells require either Hyd or Ro, with Aqua Cyclone needed both, in order to cast them. Vapor attacks in short, quick combos. He is fast and agile which allows him to use Hyd and Ro effectively.
Appearance: Vapor is 5' 4 and weighs about 130 pounds. He is thin and quite well built. He is very fast and agile which aids his movement around a battlefield. His hair is a lightish blue colour, similar to Aqua's, and is about the same length too. His fringe covers his left eye but does not effect his vision too badly. His face is soft and pale, his eyes are a blue colour and his nose is just a normal nose with nothing special about it.
Vapor's clothing consists of a short-sleeved t-shirt with small blue and white diamonds in a continuous pattern on it. He also wears a black jacket over this with a large collar that covers up his neck and he always has his sleeves rolled up. He wears black three-quarter length trousers that go down to between his knees and shins. He has blue and white trainers, size 9. Around his waist, he has a belt in which he keeps his daggers, Hyd and Ro, as well as any items he happens to be carrying.
Personality: Vapor is a kind, caring person who will step in and help wherever and whenever he can, despite being shy. He speaks only when needed and says only what is needed so having a decent conversation with him can be difficult. He is polite and remembers his manners. Vapor generally keeps details about himself to himself and doesn't normally give out more than his name. He is always on his own and doesn't enjoy company too much. If, however, someone is with him, he will reply to them but with the smallest sentence possible. He will also let them to all the talking, adding only what he thinks must be said.
Vapor can usually be found exploring Radiant Garden or training. He is a curious teenager who generally enjoys a fight, be it with Heartless or another person. He will always do the best he can and does nothing half-hearted. He will accept a task or challenge without a complaint and attempt it to the best of his ability, most of the time he will complete it. He will complete everything fully and not leave something half finished.
Original World: Elmetia Current World: Radiant Garden
History: Vapor started out life on a small planet called Elmetia. He lived happily with his parents for the majority of his life. His father was a blacksmith who created specialty weapons for the world of Elmetia. His mother was a teacher who taught anyone willing to learn about magic. They were both very skilled at their jobs so they got a lot of business. His father was also skilled in quick, close quartered combat but knew a lot about all types of combat. During the first few years of Vapor's life, his parents began to realize that he had a way with water magic which he probably inherited from his mother.
When Vapor turned seven, his parents started training him in combat, along with his two best friends; Breze and Flair. The three has a friendship rivalry which spurred them all on to do their best and never give up. Vapor got taught how to use quick, close quarters combat by his father whilst his father taught Breze long ranged combat and Flair medium ranged combat. His mother taught them each a different type of magic, depending on what they were most skilled in. Vapor got taught water, Breze got taught wind and Flair got taught fire. The three of them all learned very quickly, quicker than Vapor's parents expected them to.
On Vapor's 10th birthday, his parents gave him his dual wield daggers; Hyd and Ro. His father had forged the weapons and his mother infused magic into spheres which his father then added into the daggers. His parents then started training him to use these weapons effectively.
During the next six years, Vapor, his parents and his friends continued to live out their lives on Elmetia. Vapor and his friends continued to get trained by his parents and they continued to get stronger. This was until one fateful day shortly after Vapor turned 16. Vapor's parents went off to fight a large outbreak of Heartless in the world, making Vapor and his friends stay home, but only his mother returned. His father had been killed by a large group of Heartless. The world of Elmetia lost the war against the Heartless and ended up getting swallowed up by darkness.
Vapor later woke up in Radiant Garden as the only known survivor from Elmetia. He was not sure on what to do with himself but he eventually found himself a place to stay. All Vapor's losses caused him to become quieter but he still kept his good nature and he still helped out people in need.
During the next year, Vapor lived out his life on Radiant Garden. He tried as hard as he could to not let his parents' deaths and the loss of his world get to him but sometimes he just couldn't help breaking down into tears.
Role Playing Sample: Vapor stepped carefully out of the wrecked spaceship, still stunned from the impact. His vision was blurry so he could not make out where he was. Then he suddenly remembered about his mother, "Mam!" He shouted. "Mam! Please answer!" Vapor got no reply. He looked in the wreckage of the ship to find his mother sat there perfectly still. "Mam! Please wake up Mam!" But no matter how hard Vapor tried, he could not get his mother to wake up. Once Vapor finally realized his mother was not going to awaken and that she had died, he collapsed to the floor in tears. "First dad and now you. This cannot be happening!" He sobbed. "It just can't!"
After a few minutes of crying, Vapor got up, jumped out the ship and started walking toward the town. As he was walking he looked around to see if he could figure out where on Radiant Garden he was. All he could see to his sides were steep, jagged, blue cliffs. He looked up and saw a clear purple colour sky. Since Vapor was busy taking in his environment, he did not realize that a small group of Heartless had spawned around him. One of the seven Shadows lunged at Vapor in an attempt to scratch him. Vapor looked down just in time to see the lunging Shadow and reacted quickly with a small sidestep causing the Shadow to miss. Vapor whipped out Hyd and Ro while saying "Good, I could use a bit of a fight."
Vapor jumped into the air avoiding another lunge from a Shadow, and launched both his weapons toward the ground attempting to hit one or two of the Shadows. The throws succeeded and wiped out two of the Shadows, leaving five remaining. Vapor then landed next to his daggers and quickly picked them up and spun round to face the remaining Heartless. He rushed in to a group of three more Shadows and with six quick slashes, he destroyed all three Heartless, leaving two more. One of the remaining Shadows sank down into the ground and moved around behind Vapor and the other lunged at Vapor. He managed to sidestep but not far enough and the Shadow clipped his arm on it's way past. Vapor clutched his arm, spun to face the Heartless and jumped back to put some distance between him and them.
Vapor put Ro away and held out his left hand straight in front of him, and a small ball of water started to form in the palm of his hand. After a second of preparation, during which the Heartless advanced toward Vapor, he shouted "Aqua shot!" in a sharp tone and launched the ball of water at the Heartless. The sphere hit and destroyed one of the Shadows but the other managed to avoid it. The last remaining Shadow then lunged at Vapor in an attempt to scratch him. Vapor easily saw this coming and cartwheeled off the side. He then quickly pushed off the ground and dashed straight at the Shadow and swiped down both his daggers in an 'x' shape causing the final Heartless to disappear.
Powers: Teleportation~ Emi is able to teleport. She is able to teleport as far as she wants, but the further she teleports the more strain it puts on her mind and body, and is restricted to the world in which she resides at the time. She is able to teleport once every other post but, if needs be, then she is able teleport three times in quick succession which requires a four post cooldown. Also, she is able to teleport objects, either with her or separately and her clothes have become second nature to take with her. As with herself, the distance affects the physical and mental strain. Size does so also, however she is unable to teleport anything larger than an average human being, and small objects (about the size of a clenched fist) can be teleported frequently and with very little consequence. This does mean she has the ability to teleport other people, but Emi only does this in situations of dire need, and it requires a three post cooldown. She is unable to use any application of her teleportation whilst one is cooling down.
Weapon: Emi prefers not to fight, so she does not carry a weapon. She does, however, have very basic self-taught hand to hand skills so she is able to defend herself if she needs to.
Picture: (minus le gun and horns :3)
Appearance: Emi is rather small, being only a small bit over five feet tall, and is also pretty thin. Her hair is a dark pinkish colour and she has her hair in twintails that go down about her shins, which slowly lighten as they get closer to the ends. Emi’s large eyes, tinted red due to contacts, are the main feature of her face and seem to overshadow the rest of her features. She wears her school uniform: a typical red and white sailor uniform. Her neckerchief is red with a white strip around the edge and another thinner strip a little bit in from the first. The neckerchief forms into a tie, as it passes over her near-flat chest, which has a similar striped pattern at the end of it. At the bottom of her top, on the left, she has a crimson red ribbon tied in a bow and on the left arm of her white top, just below her shoulder, her school badge is located. Her red skirt, which has a similar pattern to her neckerchief, is pretty short and goes down far enough. She also wears black kneesocks and black shoes.
Personality: Emi is a generally happy person, although she dislikes talking to people. However, when she does start talking to people, she lacks manners due to her not talking to many people before. She’ll usually speak her mind, no matter how insulting it may be to whoever she is speaking to. She does talk to herself quite often though, due to the large amounts of time she spent isolated from society. Aside from her lack of social etiquette, Emi is a kind person. She’ll fight for whatever she thinks is right at the time, which is usually what whoever she is with at the time is fighting for.
She doesn’t really have any major interests or hobbies, but she does have her mind set on improving her teleportation ability, and has done ever since the events on her home planet took place. Emi will do close to anything to learn about her ability; like why she has it, what she can do to improve it or any other knowledge she may come to learn about it.
(Who knew 175 words could be so difficult~ >.<)
Original World: Capsule~ Current World: Twilight Town~
History: Emi started off life as normally as any other child born on Capsule. She lived with her parents, went to school, and lived a normal life for the first few years of her life. Her teleportation ability was unknown to her and all those around her during these times. However, not too long after her fifth birthday, it became known only to her. She was out in the park with her mother on a nice day, and she teleported. Not very far, only a few feet, but she did nonetheless. Emi never told her mother, who was looking away when it happened, what happened at the time because she wasn’t even sure if it happened or if she imagined it. But it kept on happening, sporadically but very infrequently over the next couple years, luckily when nobody was watching. Emi still kept it a secret.
Slowly, she began to learn how to control her ability, and it stopped happening as often without her wanting it to. By the time she was eight, she had it pretty much under control, except for the occasional freak teleport. However, her interest in it had piqued, and she wished to know more about it, so she went to the village elder to ask him about it. This turned out to be a pretty big mistake. Emi went to him, told him about her power and showed him. His immediate reaction was shock, he then proceeded to call her cursed, and many other bad things. The course of action he then took was rather smooth. He called in Emi’s parents, along with a couple of others to get more opinions. They all decided that, after about an hour of deliberation, she was to be banished from the village because her ‘special talent’, as they called it, could be of danger to the village and its inhabitants. A harsh reality for someone as young as eight.
Emi was given some food, and supplies to build a shelter, and was sent on her way. They somehow expected her to live on her own in the wild, collecting her own food and water and avoiding death from the wildlife. This experience did lead to Emi learning a few hand to hand combat moves to defend herself, but she never went foraging for food. Instead, she’d wait until the middle of the night and then teleport into the village and take food from various buildings like shops. She’d also steal new clothes every now and then, usually the school uniform as she knew exactly where to get it and it was comfortable for her to wear.
This is how she lived her life for the next eight years, with her teleportation and hand to hand abilities slowly getting better. However, on one fateful night as she was going to get more supplies from the village under the cover of darkness, she found more darkness than she expected. The village had been overrun with creatures she had never seen before in her life. Their ranks were mainly made up of small black ones that would sometimes sink into the ground and reappear elsewhere, with the occasional armoured creature that seemed to order them around. These creatures of darkness seemed to feed on people’s hearts, and once Emi figured out these creatures were killing everyone, she immediately thought of the safety of her parents.
She teleported into her house to find them gone. She ran outside and started screaming out for them, but quickly realise just how futile this was. There was no one. She was alone. Emi sat down in a corner, curled up into a ball and cried. There was nothing else she could do. Everyone was gone. Dead. The creatures had taken them, and it’s not like she could fend them off herself. So she just sat there crying, until she suddenly heard a noise in front of her. She looked up to see one of the armoured creatures stood right in front of her, about to swing for her. Emi screamed, and tried to teleport. She had no idea where, just anywhere but there. The creature made contact just as Emi disappeared.
When Emi woke up, she found herself, lying on the floor in her school uniform, in a very unusual place. Somewhere she had never seen before. Twilight Town.
