//Abilities can be used in a chain, HOWEVER, this causes ability points to run out quicker. Also, the lower his ability points are, the weaker his physical attacks become.Weapon/Items:Noel's weapon is called
Flame Fossil, and actually consists of two blades, a larger red greatsword, which has a sheath attached to it which holds his smaller katana blade. They can be combined into a spear or javelin as well, though Noel prefers to use them separate from each other. (( Can be seen in his picture below. ))
Picture: Appearance: Noel has a young appearance that fits his age, with long brown hair and blue eyes. His torso is covered by a black V-neck shirt with tribal symbols of his people on the front and angel wings on the back. With this, he also wears a simple pendant. His left arm is adorned with a metal bracer, used for blocking sword blows, and has wrapped his right arm in cord. He wears several different types of belts, that vary in design and material. He has on a baggy pair of pants that make combat easier to maneuver in, which are the same color on his shirt. And, finally, he has on a pair of black boots with a white design, that reach up to his ankles.
Personality: Having been one of three people that were left living on his home world, Noel tends to be a man of few words, though this trait always seemed to change around Serah. He is a hunter by training, and is good at seeing the signs of things that others normally wouldn't see. He is also a very serious fighter, though he refuses to kill anything, saying that "no one deserves to die". The loss of his two closest friends from his world, Caius and Yeul, has affected him in their each individual way. The loss of Yuel has caused him to be more overprotective, where the loss of Caius makes it hard to trust people, though Serah helped ease that a bit during their adventure.
The loss of Serah hit him pretty hard, and after that event he sunk into a sort of obsessive depression, doing all that he could to try and get her back. Finding her and a way back to Valhalla is his singular goal now, to try and find Lightning, who would hopefully know of a way to revive Etro, and in turn Serah. This also acts as a fuel for his drive to battle, and he will sometimes abandon his morals if it means he'll get one step closer to finding his friend.
Also, he has an unusual tendency to move his hands when talking. Nobody knows why this is.
Original World: The Dying World, Pulse
Current World: Radiant Garden
Movie/Video Game(s): Final Fantasy XIII-2
History: The last born child of a Farseer tribe. A hunter trained in surviving in a world on the verge of dying. This is Noel Kreiss, who lived in a time 200 years after the fall of Cocoon, one of three people left in his Farseer tribe after they all slowly died off. His world was a wasteland, and on the brink of destruction. Only he, the seeress Yeul and Caius Ballad survived. Noel, having not known anybody besides the two, became good friends with them, and even trained in the way of the sword under Caius, and became Yeul's new guardian after felling a Behemoth.
However, upon learning that being a guardian for her meant killing Caius, Noel refused, and was forced into a fight with the former guardian, and lost. As Caius explained to him about his Heart of Chaos, he seethed, and then watched as Caius left--for Valhalla.
Noel returned to find Yeul praying at a shrine, at the end of her life. As he comforted Yeul in her dying moments, he learned the greatest secret of the seeresses: every time they have a vision, they lose part of their life force. As Yeul began to pass, she promised him that they would meet again, and then disappeared into a bright light. After her death, he decided to find his own way to Valhalla, so he could go to Etro and prove himself to be as good of a warrior as Caius.
Eventually, his prayers to the Goddess are heard, and a Time Gate appears before him, which takes him to the Historia Crux, and eventually Valhalla. There, he encounters Lightning Farron, who is fighting the now-empowered Caius, and gives him Mog, telling Noel to go find her sister Serah and stop the paradoxes.
After once again entering the Historia Crux, Noel appears in Serah's reality just as she is being attacked by monsters. He assists her, and gives her the bowsword so she may defend herself. After they defeat the monsters, he explains who he is, where he is from, and tells Serah that Lightning asked him to assist her. He then reveals the Time Gate of her world to her, in the form of a meteorite that had fallen.
The next day, Noel explains himself to NORA, but discovers that they, as well as Serah, are still skeptical of their claims. However, Serah goes and hunts for the artefact needed to open the gate, eventually finding a mirror in Serah's room. Noel tells her that he is the last human from his world, and that he wishes to change that future and save Lightning, with her help. Serah agrees, and they both enter the Time Gate together.
Bresha Ruins 5AFUpon entering this time, the duo finds themselves inside Cocoon, but are attacked by the arm of the giant Atlas. Noel proceeds to attack it, but the monster retreats when airships fire upon it, deeper into the ruins. Noel and Serah are taken into custody by PSICOM soldiers, but are soon freed by Alyssa, a scientist at the Academy. She says that she wishes to learn of Time Gates and artefacts, but says that, with Atlas around, they can't do much. Noel offers to help, and the three follow after Atlas.
As they travel into the ruins, hey find a device that Alyssa says can stop Atlas, and in the battle against the giant, they resolve a paradox and cause the machine to activate. They manage to defeat the giant, and the Bresha Ruins are returned to their former glory. As they go to leave, they come across a graveyard, and Alyssa tells them that a friend who had died during the Purge laid there, and revealed she was a victim of it herself. Soon after, Serah has her first vision, but lies to Noel about it when he asks if she is okay.
Yaschas Massif 10 AF5 years have gone by in the normal timeline, and the world is experiencing an unnatural solar eclipse. After fighting a handful of monsters, they reach the academy, where they discover that Hope Estheim is the director. As they talk to him, they learn about the Yuels and the Farseer tribe, and are given an artefact. With this, they move onto the next world.
Obera 200 AFThe duo appears in the world that Vanille and Fang are from, but are surprised when they discover it is being devoured in darkness. After resolving the paradoxes in the world, everything essentially dies, save a field of flowers. Then, they encounter Caius and the Yuel from Noel’s time. Caius accuses them of crimes against time, and attempt to stop them. They manage to fight him off, and Yuel breaks up the fight before it escalates any more, warning Serah of the future. With that, Noel and Serah leave the time.
The Void BeyondThe two travel back to Yaschas Masiff, where they meet up with Hope again. He shows them a new image on the Oracle Drive, one of Cocoon falling. Noel explains that Cocoon fell long before he was born, and that it made his world what it was. With that, they head off to the next world, one which resembles Valhalla. Serah is disappointed about not getting to meet Lightning, but Noel tells her that with every gate, they get closer to her. With that, they move on in the timeline.
Sunleth Waterscape 300 AFWhen the two once again explore Bresha, Serah has a vision, one apparently of a giant flan and someone she knows in it, her fiance, Noel. Serah runs off, and catches up to her only when they run into the Royal Ripeness, along with Snow. They help him, and escape, where Snow discusses how he got there to them. They notice a crystal pillar, which they think signifies a paradox in the world. With that, they leave to resolve the miniflan paradox, minus Snow.
They travel to the coliseum, where they convince the Arbiter of Time to give them the artefact they need. After this, Noel shows a dislike towards Snow, but Serah defends her headstrong fiance.
They then take a short trip to Archylte Steppe, where Serah takes care of a few minor errands. There, they learn that a paradox has caused a giant dragon to appear in that world, and they fight it off before returning to the Sunleth Waterscape. They find Snow trying to fight the Royal Ripeness off. They help him defeat it, and then they are forced to watch as Snow fades away in Serah’s arms, with him saying “A hero never fades.” With that, they move on.
Academia 400 AFOnce again, the duo enter the Void, but after a short talk, they appear in Academia. Caius once again meets up with them, threatening to kill them for tampering with the timeline and the paradoxes. He disappears, and Serah and Noel chase after him. However, they discover Yuel being attacked by a multitude of Cie’th. A creature called Zenobia appears, and picks up Yuel and slams her to the ground. The two fight it, then comfort Yuel, who dies in Noel’s arms. After that, Noel tells Serah the truth of what was happening her - the curse of the Farseers. All the Yuels who could see visions had all died, and all very young.
Augusta TowerThe next area they appear in is a world where Hope has created a proto-fal’Cie, which he believes will keep Cocoon from falling and killing all those people. Serah and Noel, however, realize that this world seems off, and discover that the Alyssa on this world is a clone. After that, they make the discovery that the real Hope and Alyssa were murdered, and monsters are sent after them since they know too much. After they fight them off, they encounter the Yuel from Obera, and she explains to them why the timeline is going out of sync, Lightning’s fate, and other things that have gone wrong. The duo then enters into another gate, where they fight the proto-fal’Cie. However, it seems to be invincible, until Serah gets angry and chastises Hope for making the machine. With that, it disappears, and they celebrate their victory - until Serah has another vision and passes out in Noel’s arms.
Academia 4XX AFThey return to Academia, where they discover it has no proto-fal’Cie. Alyssa and Hope are fine, and Hope is working on gravitational lifts to save Cocoon. Alyssa gives the two an artifact, and they use it to activate a gate...
not realizing it was booby-trapped. Serah, Noel and Mog are sent in different points in history.
The Void BeyondHere, Noel emerges from the Historia Crux, and confronts Caius, who battles him once again. He loses, and Caius impales him from behind, sending him into a Dream World. He recounts the memories he can remember in this world, not realizing Serah could see everything. As he is pulled off the ground and is being pulled up towards a light in the sky, Serah grabs his arm and causes him to remember her. They both leave this Dream World, with Noel thanking her for waking him up from his dream.
New Bodhum 700 AFThe next destination they reach is Serah’s home, which looks destroyed. Noel comments that it resembles his home, and then Lightning appears to them, telling them that Caius plans to commit mass genocide in Hope’s world, by destroying both Cocoon and Hope’s new Cocoon replica in one fell swoop. This would turn time into entropy and kill Etro, but save the Yuels from their cruel fate. After she finishes, Serah asks if she will see Lightning again, to which she says “one thing at a time”. With that, she disappears, and they move on to the timeline which Caius is about to attack.
Academia 500 AFThey enter this world, which is already facing time corruption. After a ton of platforms and weird gold puzzles, they encounter Caius in the form of Chaos Bahamut. As they go to chase them, Hope and Sazh fight off the monsters that are appearing. They meet Chaos Bahamut while on top of an airship, and he turns to his normal Caius form, warning Serah that if the timeline is fixed, she would die. Serah says she doesn’t care, and they fight again. However, Caius escapes into Valhalla, and Noel and Serah follow suit.
In Valhalla, they fight Caius for the last time. After defeating him once, he turns to Jet Bahamut. They defeat that form, and Caius is beat down to his last legs. However, Noel refuses to kill him, so Caius tries to provoke him by attacking Serah. He stops him, but stops only inches short of stabbing him in the heart. However, Caius grabs Noel’s sword and impales himself, killing him. Noel feels bad about this, and honors his old friend with kind words as Serah starts to comfort him. Then, they enter a gate, and they return to Academia, where their “new future” is starting. However, after they land on top of an airship and Serah thanks Noel from everything, she has another vision, and dies in Noel’s arms. With a brutal cry, Noel realizes that, by killing Caius’ heart of chaos, he killed Etro, too. Hope comes to him, and the world is enveloped in Valhalla corruption.
As the world began to end, Hope and Noel ran, but Noel was separated from the young scientist by a pillar that fell between them. Hope called for him, but he told him to go on, trying to find a way around. However, strange creatures appeared, ones of shadow, and Noel was overwhelmed by them all. As he sunk into the darkness, he heard the dark whispers of their corruption, but he focused on one memory: the promise he made Serah that he would find Lightning. And this fought off the darkness, until he appeared in a new world...
Role Playing Sample: ”Serah! Where are you, Serah?”
Noel was wandering through a world of darkness and chaos, similar to Valhalla, but with less..everything to it. It was like an endless expanse of black, one that was never-ending. All he could see is black, around him, but something compelled him to go forward, in the endless void. His katana sword was drawn from his greatsword, and he kept them at the ready.
Eventually, he realized that he was getting nowhere, and finally stopped, looking around at the featureless sights. However, a voice pierced his mind, and he turned on the spot.
“You call yourself a successful Guardian, yet you killed your Seeress and the Goddess at the same time...you are a pathetic excuse for a warrior, Noel. You let your best friend kill himself on your own blade, and brought the destruction of that fool director’s dream and the world...”
A man in purple armor walked forth, a large and elaborate sword held in his hand. As he pointed it at Noel, Caius smirked.
”But you can’t be alive...you faded!”
Noel raised his blades in front of him, and got in a battle stance that would better suit him. His twin blades faced Caius’ own, Ragnarok, and he briefly flashed to the memory of why he chose two swords: because he couldn’t defeat Caius with just one while he trained.
“I live on in your memory, the turmoil and hatred that you feel every time you think about what you did. Because of that, I will live forever, and torment you just as you did every Yuel in time and space. You will feel every moment they suffered a hundred times over, and then...I shall kill you.”
Noel’s grip on his katana blade tightened, and he spit out a curse at Caius, before charging him. Steel met steel, and they both lept into action, obviously equally matched. With each swing they would block, they would counterattack, and meet another block. This continued on for a good minute, until they both stopped. The once best of friends faced each other with hatred, and Caius lowered his blade, before turning away from Noel with a sound of disgust.
“I thought you could do better than that...you, being the last living human, surviving so long...or have you gone soft, because of that girl’s death? You ought to be ashamed, Noel Kreiss, for you have still not become better than I am, even though you killed me. Grow stronger, and I shall face you again, perhaps as an equal...but know that next time, you WILL fall, and I will rise.”
With that, Caius disappeared. Noel lowered his swords, but then fell to his knees as his mind was flooded with memories, all those memories of Serha, her smile, her fighting style, her kindness...and especially her death. He let out a scream, like the one from when she died......and woke up with a start, breaking out in a cold sweat. Panting, he looked around, and realized it was all a dream. With a sigh of relief he lied down, but didn’t sleep anymore.
I’ll find you, Serah...
