Name: Pence Grant
Nickname: n/a
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Position: Student - He hasn't made up his mind on what he wants to do yet.
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills:Technological Skill:
Pence is able to gain access to the computer in the Old Mansion. He has been able to transport himself and his friends into the Simulated Twilight Town, and then back out of it again as well. He has figured out how to add other homes, items, and how to change the different houses in the Simulated Twilight Town. In addition to this, he has started working on building another computer from spare items that he has found around.
Tinkering:
Pence enjoys finding out new things and doesn't mind playing around with technology to find out its component parts and to see how it works. Using the destroyed computer in the Simulated Twilight Town, he has seen how a computer is built. He has fashioned the other necessary items together to form the different component parts to the computer. In addition to computers, he has been able to fix clocks, lawn mowers, and other gadgets as well.
Math/Logic:
Despite his easy going nature and lack of motivation of his own when it comes to school work, Pence earns his best grades in his math classes. The concepts come easier to him, and he understands how to use them. In addition to math, he processes the logic efficiently in order to use it correctly. He understands logic and knows how to use it with regards to working with a computer.
Weapon/Items:Pence uses his hands and feet to punch and kick during a fight. Occasionally, he uses a struggle bat for practicing. The only other items in his possession would be computer component parts, wrenches, screw drivers, and other tools and parts.
Picture: Full Body:
linkAppearance: Standing at five feet and five inches in height, Pence is by far not the tallest in Twilight Town. He is slightly bigger than average build, but he has been losing weight from the running around and playing games that he participates in with his friends. His eyes are chocolate colored and his shaggy hair is black, which he tends to hold together with a black and gray sweat band.
Typically, Pence wears a short-sleeved white t-shirt underneath a red jersey. Printed on the jersey is the words 'Dog Street' in white and a dog with three bones above it in black. A purple bandana is tied around his neck over the jersey. His slacks are light blue. He wears white and blue gym shoes with gray soles on his feet. This is his style when playing around with his friends, mainly in front of Hayner.
On occasion, Pence trades his slacks for red shorts, his shoes for tan sandals and he completely takes off the white t-shirt, mainly when he is working.
Personality:Despite his laid back personality, Pence is a rather friendly individual. He is not one to shy away from talking to his friends, and he is outgoing enough to make new friends. This includes being friendly to the foreigners that have been visiting Twilight Town. His favorite snack to enjoy is sea salt ice cream. He is not one to turn down the offer of food.
Curiosity drives Pence. He enjoys exploring around town and discovering new things. It was his idea to explore the seven wonders of Twilight Town, and he is very knowledgeable about them. Through his curiosity, he is able to access the computer in the Old Mansion, and to manipulate it now in different ways. While exploring the remains of a broken computer in the simulated Twilight Town, he now has a desire to build a computer himself. He is trying to understand how these electrical items work, and has started tinkering in fixing other electrical items as well. He has no problem multitasking, and inviting his friends to help as well.
Pence always tries to lighten the mood when it gets tense. When with his two friends, Olette and Hayner, it is usual both him and Olette that have to drag Hayner out of the sticky situations. He doesn't particularly like fighting, preferring to take his time to potentially diffuse the situation and try to solve it with words. He rarely ever gets mad, instead using logic to help him out. Over the years, he has noticed the few situations where he has to fight, and will give up his passive attitude if completely necessary. He isn't too skilled with a struggle bat, having to stay practicing with it since he cannot win a fight with it.
Due to his passiveness, Pence likes to let his logic think through a given situation to come up with an appropriate answer. While he may seem slow to respond, it is only because he is thinking of the best solution. Since he relies on logic, he is more of a realist than anything else. Not openly optimistic and not openly pessimistic, he always tries to balance out his actions and thoughts with what is actually plausible. Despite his best efforts, his self-confidence does fluctuate just like any other teenager. Despite his realism, he wouldn't suggest something if he wasn't completely confident with it.
Out of his two friends, Pence could easily say that he is closer to Olette. She likes to drag him out shopping with her, and he could honestly say that he doesn't mind it. He listens to Olette whenever she confides in him, letting her tell her full story so he could actively think of the best response to her. He has enjoyment in helping Olette when possible, and would always volunteer. When not working on technology, he likes to volunteer to help her with her brewing. In addition, he doesn't mind inviting her when he is working on the computer or with technology. Even after they separate, he is usually the one that calls her on her cell phone to talk. He is rather supportive of Olette, supporting and encouraging her desire to dress and act like a girl.
After foreigners have started to travel to Twilight Town, Pence has tried to keep his friends closer after hearing their respective stories. It would be devastating to him if anything happened to their lovely little town, and he wanted to show his friends that he cared about their friendship. As he has gotten older, he has taken notice of the girls in school and the girls that have come to travel to Twilight Town. For a while now, he has maintained a small crush on Olette, but he hasn't voiced his crush on her. It's from a combination of not wanting to destroy their friendship and that he is self-conscious that any girl would even like him, including Olette. He would like to tell her, but he hasn't found the best way to do it just yet. But, he hasn't let his crush get in the way of their friendship.
Although it takes Olette to remind him to complete his schoolwork, Pence doesn't mind completing his work. He has a natural tendency for math and logic in general, taking less time than most to understand both. Even though he isn't as studious as Olette, he does want to maintain good grades. Despite his talents, he still isn't fully sure on what he job he wants to have in the very near future. Something with technology, or even fixing different items, would be something that he is seriously considering.
Original World: Twilight Town
Current World: Twilight Town
Movie/Video Game(s): Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days & Kingdom Hearts II
History:Having spent his entire life in Twilight Town, Pence has had a rather ordinary childhood. Twilight Town was relatively small enough, and everyone essentially knew each other. He had his select group of friends, Hayner and Olette, and participated in any of their shenanigans. The trio of friends was rivaled by Seifer, Rai, and Fuu. Arguments would occasionally occur between the two groups of friends, and lead to disputes. Pence would always try to drag Hayner, the one who would always want a fight, away from it all.
In addition, he was almost always dragged to go shopping with Olette. For that matter, he always found himself to be closer to Olette, than Hayner, due to Hayner being naturally assertive. Due to the peaceful nature of Twilight Town, he was rather laid back with everything. Olette would always have to remind him to complete his schoolwork, as it was.
But, if any of his activities actually interested him, then he would jump to complete them. He was naturally interested in the seven wonders of Twilight Town, based on his own curiosity. Even though almost all of them turned out to be hoaxes, he still had fun exploring them, both in the virtual Twilight Town and the real Twilight Town. Although, he has no recollection of the events that happened in the virtual Twilight Town with Roxas. He was skilled with computers and technology to gain access to the computer in the Old Mansion.
As time went on, Pence had noticed a few strange occurrences every now and then. He had absolutely no idea what caused them, being completely oblivious to the fact that heartless and nobodies were running around Twilight Town. For that matter, he had no idea that there were other worlds out there, than his own quiet little bubble in Twilight Town.
At one point, while he was walking around the underground portion of Twilight Town, Pence met Roxas and Axel. Since he was very knowledgable of Twilight Town, he was able to lead both of them to a black-haired women wearing a black cloak just like both Roxas and Axel. Afterwards, he met Roxas again when he came back to Twilight Town. Together, with his friends, he taught Roxas how to play a game called Grandstander.
When Sora appeared with Donald and Goofy, Pence was under the impression at first that he knew Sora. Even though Twilight Town had its own surprises, he didn't remember ever meeting Sora. This nostalgia feeling came from meeting Roxas in the virtual Twilight Town. From meeting Sora, he was finally acquainted with the existence of other worlds besides Twilight Town. In addition, he was finally made aware of the heartless and nobodies. It brought new meaning to him, since it gave an explanation for some of the weird happenings around Twilight Town. He, along with his friends, sent Sora and his friends off at the Train Station.
After Sora appeared, a girl with red hair and a very friendly dog appeared from a black hole. Kairi and Pluto, as they were introduced as, brought tales of other worlds as well. This newly blossoming friendship quickly ended when she was kidnapped by Axel in a black cloak. A search for Kairi ensued, but ended up empty at the Old Mansion. It was here, that the trio of friends met up with Sora, Donald, and Goofy. In the Old Mansion, the group stumbled upon computers. After tinkering with the computer, he found the existence of a virtual version of Twilight Town and the pods used to enter the Simulated version.
Pence was able to send Sora to this Simulated Twilight Town through the computer, and it was the last time that he saw Sora.
From that point on, he and his friends would keep an eye out for either Sora or Kairi to return. But, countless searches came up empty. There seemed to be more luck finding heartless, rather than their new friends. Being the curious individual that he was, Pence would enter the simulated world every now and then. At first, he used it to search for Sora. He was not able to find where the boy went off to. After the repeated failures, he started to enter the simulation to explore and better understand what the program had to offer and what was blocked from access.
When not visiting the simulation, Pence would try to find out the different patterns and shortcuts with the program from the computers. He was able to uncover classified areas, and the simulation's full limitations. Based on his analysis, he didn't think Sora was still in the simulation world. But, with no other information to go off of, he was never able to fully take the possibility off of the table.
Pence figured out how to add more buildings and items to the simulation, in addition to fully fashioning to interiors to the different buildings. During one of his visits to the simulation, he studied the digital version of a computer that was broken. From this, he came up with the idea of building a computer himself. Since the digital version was indeed a simulation, he liked to practice his tinkering of the computer and other electrical items in the simulation version. He took what he learned to the real Twilight Town to try to build the computer, and to fix and study other electrical items.
Every so often, Pence noticed visitors and people from other worlds entering Twilight Town. He always tried to be friendly and welcoming to the new foreigners. Based on his knowledge of Twilight Town, he has helped many of the newcomers to their destination. Since he has seen all of these newcomers coming through, he has become protective over his friends. He would hate to lose them, and he cherished the time that he spent with them. Knowing about all of these newcomers, it made him realize that he should value his friendship with his friends and to try to stick together with them.
Role Playing Sample: "Interesting …" Pence muttered, as he looked around.
This was his first time traveling to the simulated Twilight Town. It had been a few days ago that Sora and his friends traveled the very same way to the same destination. He was now making that same journey to try to find where Sora went off to. So far, his analysis of this digital world came up empty as identifying where Sora ran off to. But, he figured that it wouldn't hurt to actually look for Sora. Of course, he was naturally curious about the simulation, and wanted to visit it.
The simulation of his home world was rather impressive. Whoever had made it really did a good job in recreating the town. Nearly everything was identical. Aside from any blocked off areas and the broken computer, the simulation was pretty realistic. It was not until after he noticed that his friends, Olette and Hayner, were no longer in the room with him that he noticed that he was transported to the simulation. His friends were at the real computer, monitoring it.
Walking down Market Street, Pence was admiring how closely the shops resembled the ones in the real Twilight Town. He should know these shops pretty well, since he was often dragged to go shopping with Olette. Despite walking down the area, he didn't enter any of the shops. This was only one of one of his expected visits to this newly discovered simulation anyway. This digital version just piqued his interest!
Turning a corner on Market Street, Pence stopped as he saw the ice cream parlor.
"I wonder if whoever programmed this got the ice cream right?" he wondered outloud.
Immediately, Pence walked right into the ice cream parlor.
"Welcome!" The attendant greeted him.
Pence smiled, thrusting his hand into his pants pocket. It emerged with mummy clenched in his fist. "Can I have a sea salt ice-cream bar?" he asked.
The attendant reached under the counter, picking out one of the sea salt ice-cream bars.
"Here you are," he stated as he accepted Pence's moony.
"Thank you!" Pence called out, as he turned back around with his ice-cream in his hand. He walked back outside in the process. Looking down at the ice-cream bar in his hand, he smiled. After licking the bar, his smile grew bigger. "Yum! The taste matches!" he exclaimed.
