In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Daros stood from the bed which he had chosen to rest in while conversing with Era, the woman who had introduced him to the town in which he had woken up. Their conversation, while brief, was enlightening and very informative. He had discovered where they were, what the reason for his being taken from Luniel was, and that this was possibly the last line of defense against the Darkness which was threatening the worlds.
Having been trained in the Scribes Guild, he was not one to allow surprise to take over him for too long, and quickly adapted to new information. With this personality, he had quickly taken in the information and set out to find out his own way to help Twilight Town with its battle. And thus was his destination.
He headed outside the building which was currently being used as an infirmary of sorts, though its original use was most likely unknown. Once he stood outside and in the middle of the street, he would reach into a pocket and pull out the miniaturized-hoverbike he had on his person at almost all times. It was one of his prized possessions, a bike about to be scrapped but repaired by Daros himself, and tuned with a few extra mods later on. While the weapons systems on the bike were currently shot, he had no real way to examine and fix it. Not yet at least.
He would set the device on the ground and press a button on the top, standing back as the magic within the Compactor’s magic would begin to retract into the Compactor itself. The result was the hoverbike steadily growing back to full size, the effects of the Mini magic wearing off as the Compactor deactivated. The process took only around ten seconds, just long enough for Daros to step back and admire the process he himself had so painstakingly invented a few years back.
Once fully reverted to its normal size, the hoverbike’s own internal systems would kick into gear, a small whirring noise emitting from within just before a jet on the bottom would come to life. A small burst of fire magic would emit from the mouth of the jet itself, lifting the bike off the ground enough for it to hover. The engine could be seen from the side, small gears and pistons going full steam to keep the bike running, coupled with auto-balancers making sure it stayed upright. The hoverbike had two seats, one in front where the driver sat with handlebars, and one just behind that looked as though it could swivel on an axis. A small hatch was just behind the second seat, this being the hatch which held the weapons systems.
The grayish-silver hoverbike had a few copper-colored patches, but still had a shine that would tell anyone it was well taken care of. Now fully functioning and ready to ride, Daros turned to see if his host was still with him, gesturing to the back seat of the bike, which had its own handlebars on its sides.
“Well, ya still wantin’ ta come with me? It’s a smooth ride, just a bit fast for most. Unfortunately though, it’s weapons systems are shot. Will need to find a place to set up shop ‘for I can check it out.”
Without waiting for a response, he would turn back to the hoverbike and get on, taking the front handles into his hands and swinging his right leg over the top, using this momentum to lift his left leg off the ground and landing neatly in his seat. He would give it a little gas, revving it just to make sure it worked alright before waiting for Era to join him.
Frosty caribbean eyes sparkling with wonder watched the small toy-like contraption expand into a full-sized, fully-functional automobile. The only thing she could fathom was that the converter had to use some sort of gravity magic. There was still a lot she didn't know about magic, but she was open to understanding more. Seeing something like this was really cool!
Honestly, she had hardly noticed any of the machinery's rust or dings beyond the glossy reality that this tiny complex contraption had just expanded and roared to life.
As for what sort of setup she thought Daros might want for this sort of thing...
Twilight Town was no stranger to scrap pieces; its alleys were usually full of them: the pickings were greater now due to the Nightfall.
Her mind was still rolling over the possibilities of where he might want to set up; too far out of the sanctuary and one was privy to Heartless. Too close, and the scrap pickings would likely be too thin, already sifted through from several survivors. Well, most of the activity took place along Market Street, which meant that perhaps few of the vacant shop locations along the Tram Commons might be an acceptable place? Having the Item Shop close could also mean spill-off business, if this guy decided to actually extend his services to others. If not, he'd probably still be within enough of the safety zone not to worry too heavily about the Heartless.
Once Daros was ready for her, Era easily climbed on along the back, careful to keep her legs away from any exhaust pipes. Her head tilted to the side as she peaked around him. Her voice was a little louder so that she could be heard over the vehicle's sputtering purr. "If you head straight down the main road it won't take long to get to the old Tram Commons. There are some vacant shop locations that would be easy to clean up for you. And there's still some scrap around town you could probably find some use in. It's probably worth checking out." Of course, wherever he went was up to him. After all, only Daros really knew what sort of setup he'd be looking for when it came to the setup he was looking for. While Era could jury-rig something here and there, she was no tinker by a long stretch. But hey, if she stuck with him for awhile, maybe he could teach her something new.
One thing was certain about having Era as a passenger, and that was the fact that she was the first person who had ever ridden on the back of this hoverbike. He never had need of an extra during any races or skirmishes due to the fact that he had automated his defense systems to a certain degree. While he didn’t think it would be a problem, it was still a first to drive with a passenger for him. He made sure to keep the hoverbike a secret as certain upgrades and modules installed into it were less-than-standard and far from approved in Luniel.
He would listen to the woman’s directions, looking to where she had told him to go and nodding before he would flip a small switch just between the handlebars. A round screen would flip into view below the switch, flickering briefly before flashing to life and showing it was a systems panel and short range radar. The panel showed heat and stability of the hoverbike, while the radar showed a simple map of an area roughly fifty feet in all directions of the bike. The radar was one that could only track major changes in the land around, and thus was only showing the streets and buildings. Daros used this to map new areas he traveled, its lack of distance making it near impossible to map a path ahead of time.
“Alright then. Straight down the main road we go. Hold on tight to those bars, this thing has a bit of a kick to it.”
Before taking off Daros reached up and lowered his goggles over his eyes, a small smile crossing his face as he revved the bike one more time before taking his foot off the brake. The result was the fire jet keeping the bike off the ground suddenly shifting its position to the back of the frame. In place of the flame jet two more converters slid into place, these two channeling gravity magic to keep the bike elevated. This would make the ride much smoother than if he had used the flame jets, and instead would use the jet simply as the acceleration.
With the brake now released he would hit the bike into gear, letting out a laugh as the hoverbike would race forward. It was obvious the hoverbike was fully functional in terms of travel and speed while they rushed down the street, each gear channeling a little more energy into the flame jet and adding more speed to the bike. By the time they reached a turn, it seemed as though they were going too fast in order to properly make the turn, and that they might crash.
Daros had no such plans. Before they got to the turn, Daros twisted the handle bars, lifting his left foot against a bar resting just above it while his right foot would kick down on a second bar below. This caused the gravity converters to shift so that the front one would face left, the back facing right. The hoverbike responded in kind and shifted to the right, twisting on a pivot while following the same path. The flame jet would continue pushing the bike forward, curving it slightly until the would just reach the wall, the bike angled so the jet was pushing against it. The force of the jet against a solid object resulted in the bike rushing forward once more, his feet clicking the opposite bars which they had activated before and pushing the gravity converters back into place to straighten the hoverbike back out.
Racing down the street once again, merely a second had passed during the turn, showcasing Daros’ skill with his favorite device. He had driven the hoverbike for years, and had taken care in making sure it ran at full capacity. He hoped he could get the weapons systems back into working condition, at least for a second rider to use them. He knew it would be difficult with the limited supplies in this war-ridden town. Even if he didn’t though, he knew it would be useful, based on Era’s reaction to the bike. It would seem as though this might be the first of such devices seen here. If that were so, he would have fun working his tech magic around town.
“So then, we gettin’ close? Don’ need nothin’ fancy, just a big room with a door big enough to get this thing inside.”
In mere moments her stomach was against her spine. She could feel the thrill of speed, the wind in her face. She gripped tightly against the handlebars, enjoying the sudden spike of adrenaline that came with Daro's driving. Her hands tensed around the handlebars and she inclined forward to better brace herself, a smile across her face. "Woooo!" the exclamation portrayed her experience clearly. If there was any doubt about how she would react to this sort of thing, it was erased with her hearty cheer.[break][break]
Not long after, they'd hit a bump in the road. She gripped tighter, wondering if she should use the force of some ice magic (she still had that to work with, didn't she?) to push them back up and keep them upright. A moment before she did, and Daros had steadied out again. She smirked with a glance up at the driver. She could only see his back from here. Show off. It was a teasing sort of thought. After all, she was fully enjoying this ride![break][break]
They were just barely into the old Tram Commons. "We're close!" she confirmed in a louder tone to try and be heard above the roar of the machine. "There are plenty of options. Any store not presently occupied is fair game."[break][break]
Daros heard her words and would begin to slow down, the engine's noise dying down as the hoverbike's speed was reduced. His eyes would flick back and forth as they drove down the street. He knew exactly what he wanted, and knew that it would be easy to spot if it were available. He would need a slightly larger building, one large enough to fit his bike as well as a workshop to design and repair things. Scrap would be stored within the building along with any tech he found within this land. He would also have to design some sort of rig to hold up the hoverbike when he was working on it. He figured that would be less than simple, as it would appear that working tech and even scraps were currently rare within the town. A manual pulley system might be his best option for that.
Daros spotted a building that looked as though it could work for what he wanted. He took his hand off the accelerator and used both of his heels to click two switches positioned just beside them, the gravity converters shifting to face forward just a bit. This would bring the bike to a rather fast yet smooth stop, the converters switching back to hover-mode once the bike came to a complete stop. He would get off the bike, holding it steady for Era as she descended off the device as well. Once she was off he would click the button on the Compacter which was positioned just under the radar screen, stepping back as the hoverbike shrunk once more to pocket sized.
"There we go. Enjoy the ride? Not to brag, but I'm pretty proud of 'er. Now then..."
He turned to look at the building he had spotted. With the main street still just in view, though far enough so that any normal chatter was now silent, the building barely had a view of the top of a clock tower. With the front of the building, where Daros expected the door once was, a large hole now showed the inside to be partially caved in. Part of the roof in one corner and by the hole had fallen, revealing the sky to anyone who might be within. A few cracks ran along some of the walls, those the supports within the room itself seemed to keep what was still standing held together. In a far corner stood a small room built into the wall, just big enough to be possibly storage for whoever might have worked here.
"Well, it'll take a bit 'o work, but I couldn' call myself a true Tech if I was afraid 'o some dirt and rubble. Whatcha think? Good spot?"
He looked to Era for her advice once more. He felt he could trust her word on these things. She seemed genuinely helpful and kind. Why else would she have come this far helping him out when she could have just robbed him in his time of confusion?
He reached into another pocket, this time pulling out a small box, another Compactor fashioned on this as well. He set the box down near the hole and clicked the button on the Compactor, stepping back as his rather large toolbox would be released from the Shrink magic which kept it in such a small form. With roughly twenty drawers of varying sizes from dresser drawer sized to almost a cabinet door on the sides, the toolbox was just as tall as he was, and twice as wide. He had learned quick he needed to keep his tools on him for his job, and had decided to do so with the same method which he kept his hoverbike.
Before opening anything he would look back to Era, waiting for her response. He was ready to get to work and set up shop. The sooner he was able to get that done, the sooner he could begin to properly explore this town and find some scrap and tech. He also wanted to get information about what was around, and possible sites of interest. Despite these things, he didn't want to appear rude, as he knew he was often capable of doing without even trying. Plus he had asked for her advice, and thought it only right eh wait for an answer.
It was kind of a nice building, although it was obvious it would take some work to restore it enough to do any sort of business.[break][break]
Her glacial eyes examined the supports, then the roof. "It looks like the structural integrity's still pretty good," she surmised. "Of course I'm no architect. But I think it'll stand."[break][break]
He was already setting up some preliminary items. Apparently, for what he had to chose from, Daros approved of this spot. "Lucky for you, I've got time to help you clean up a little." She picked up a few bricks. She had already decided that she'd make a stack of them outside, so that if they needed them for construction projects later, they'd be available.[break][break]
After grabbing her first batch of bricks, her gaze once again lifted upward, beyond the hole in the roof. A smile slipped over her face. Even without many stars, the view of the constant array of cobalt purple still looked pretty nice. "And look at this! You even scored a view of the sky."[break][break]
Daros nodded to her as he saw that she agreed with him. He was ready to get to work and set up shop. He opened the side of his toolbox and reached inside. From within the box he withdrew what looked like a spring powered gun with a metal stake loaded into it. He pulled a lever on the side and cocked the gun, the spring being pulled back along with the stake. He kept his finger off the trigger as he walked to a rather large chunk of ceiling which had fallen to form the hole and placed the gun in the middle of the slab.
"I appreciate ya takin' the time outta ya day ta help me. Most of the time I would be stuck doin' somethin' like this myself. Good t' know there are those willin' to help others here. Ya best keep back. This thing has some kick to it."
He steadied himself against the gun, pulling the trigger and holding himself firm as the stake would launch into slab and crack it into four pieces. He quickly stepped back as the pieces fell, holding the gun up to show the stake still within the barrel. It was a simple device that could be found in most construction sites of Luniel, and one that served its purpose. He had bought it from a fellow Tech within the Guild, needing it at the time to clear out a caved-in service tunnel.
"There we go. That should be easier to move now. Didn't know this thing would come in handy so soon. Good thing I kept it, huh?"
He looked up at the sky and smiled a little, reaching his hand up to the hair piece which his sister had always fashioned for him. His fingers twirled the hair around a few times as he remembered how his sister was fascinated with the night sky, set on believing that there was magic in the sky.
