In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

There aren't enough praises in the world I'd like to give to wonderful coders for the Proboards community. The following have contributed to World Destiny in some way: W3 Schools for countless how-tos and countless of other souls who have helped get WD up to where it is.

I think that it would be a good idea (especially to all those character creaters out there) if anytime someone posted a new thread on the character register forum, it PM'ed the staff members who are in charge of accepting, or declining new character profiles (and this has nothing to do with any current characters, I just think it would be a good idea). One reason why I think if would be good, is because one RPG site that I went to, it PM'ed the main person anytime someone created a new account, and I think it would maybe be possible for the same thing to be happening. Except with a new thread instead of a new account. If you have anything to say for/against this idea, just post it here.
lol, oh, darn, lol, if only, I thought that the other site was proboards, but oh well, maybe not. Dang, hmm, do you have any ideas on how something similar to this could be accomplished?
There's no way that that could happen. Proboards is a very simple forum board, unfortunately, sure there's a lot of scripts and things you can add on to make it look cool and whatnot, but alas, Proboards isn't going to offer up what you're not going to pay for. Considering that these boards are being run for free, special privileges and us wanting ads to just go away isn't an option unless someone's willing to cough up the dough to do so (and honestly, I would... I'm tired of these little ads all over the place).
Truth be told, none of us (the Instructors) are really 'married' to the Character Registration forum, as much as members would love for us to be. We do our best to check it regularly, we do our best to get profiles accepted/rejected/looked over in some fashion, we do our best to instruct and matriculate and teach those who get turned into the Academy so that their writing skills blossom from what they are. We're human beings, not machines, I've apologized to many members on our behalf for having things that we've to do in real life, but it's what's dragging us down.
Anyways... I digress.
As I am now the Instructor that has the least amount holding her back because of being a homeschooled, jobless brat at the moment, I'll do my best to take up the extra slack.
What is it with people and wanting characters accepted so fast? People should learn to be patient and wait.
Aside from the already-stated impatience, people regularly are excited to join into a new site, and recieve feedback on what they've done. Usually, aside from the occasional "Hi I'm new" thread, the first thing people will post is a character profile, which usually entails they are eager to jump in and immerse themselves in the board, introduce their creation, and wriggle their way into the community.
To be sure, I've been an online RP'er for roughly 6 or 7 years now, and I have never seen a board with a profile-turnaround rate as slow as this one. I see the profile staff logged into the site all the time, but don't see any advancement on weeding through profiles. The staff is here, the eagerness to get the new members on their way is not.
I think a part of it is also a business in trying to handle things on the staff's part. They are in charge of the runnings of this site, but they are also in charge of keeping on top of their own RPs. Juggling both in a timely fashion can be rather difficult -- I know from experience.
Actually, I think what would help this site's character section is a larger staff. If more people are placed on the job, there'll be less to do for everyone, and things may run much quicker.
I throw this out because I am willing to help whenever I am on, if anyone else thinks the idea of expanding the staff section may help.
The way I see it, everyone here is patient enough to go back into the forum after waiting for a long time (lol)
Myself I´ve found the games and chatbox do provide some...entertainment until characters get accepted.
But none of that matters anyway I just want to point out that the forum would sure grow if characters were to be accepted faster.(Not saying that the staff should sit hitting f5 on character approval just that maybe you should have more people doing the job)
Well it's a bit slow right now due to the activity checks. I don't really want to accept any more World Characters until the list is sorted through. So if anyone has a World Character pending, I suggest creating an Original Character for the time being.
Okay. I think I have something to say. I have no exact choice over staff or what not, being in the position that I am. Hell, I still technically supposed to be on hiatus.
Sites go through some down time. It's that time of year when change comes about, and there have been quite a bit of hard times for much of the staff. In my opinion, what we have works just fine. We don't get paid for our jobs, we just like doing them. Waiting is part of the process and we're also slow because we CARE about how the characters are, taking out time to consider-- we don;t want to diss other people's work, so we have to be exceedingly careful on what way say and how we do it. We can't simply say "sorry, I don't like your profile, write a different one and do it better this time" when we dislike how one reads out. Nor can we simply say ACCEPTED to those who we DO like. We have to balance things out.
The reason why the Instructors do this the most is because we deal with the players the most-- in terms of helping them grow and flourish. Patience is a practice, not a virtue. The turnout rate is slow because we care. Most sites tend to not care as much and then you find yourself not joining any threads for the simple fact that the character annoys you, or the person can't use grammar to save their lives. I like my job. That's why I'm on a break. I want to do what I do best at my best.
People, in all honesty, need to know that it's hard for staff to completely take a break, because things will fall apart. We log on, yes, and we do things, yes, like myself, when on a "hiatus". But even then, I find myself stressing during this break because I don't want to leave people hanging for too long. Proboards isn't quite like that, agreed-- it's simple, but we do the best we can, for free, and people often grow used to the staff doing their job, and get angry when they pull from it to take care of their lives and the like, as any member of the site must from time to time.
I guess the point of this is to state that we're doing what we can, and it's been working for the whole while the site has been up, as far as I know. We're just going through a down period as things get themselves sorted out for a lot of people. Especially since we've lost two lives of the staff-- which has not been mentioned officially, and it's still probably not my place to say. But I digress.
If I may add, if you're waiting for your profile to get accepted, you've still got a world around you and an internet connection staring you straight in the face. You've limitless options as to what you can do with the time instead of just sitting around, waiting for your profile to get accepted.
In fact, I believe this calls for a list:
Mutoman's Top 10 Things You Can Do While Waiting for your Profile to be Accepted!
*cue fanfare*
In no particular order:
1. Take up underwater basketweaving. If it's already in your arsenal of skills, then go make some baskets while underwater. 2. Newgrounds.com bears many entertaining videos and games to keep you distracted. 3. Find yourself a comfy chair, a warm beverage, and some ambient, soothing music. Then take all of that and throw it out the window so that you can pop in something very loud, hardcore, and sure to irritate your parents/neighbors! Or the 1st one with the soothing music. That works too. 4. Magnifying glass + ants! A favorite pastime of the psychotic schoolboy. 5. Find a movie you haven't watched in a while (or never watched at all) and pop it in. Be sure to cook up some popcorn for this. 6. Single? Go out and get yourself a girl/boyfriend. Already got one? Then go out and spend some time with them instead of in front of the comp. screen. 7. Hulu or Youtube. Both should have something that will keep you busy. My personal recommendations are to Whedon-ize yourself with Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog and every episode of Firefly. Both of these can be found on Hulu. 8. Take up juggling! I promise you, it's a big hit at parties and a useful skill for life overall. 9. Webcomics are all over the internet. I'm sure that there are a few you'd be interested in, if not so already. My personal recommendations: Applegeeks and AG Lite,Penny Arcade,XKCD,Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal,Johnny Wander,Dominic Deegan, and Dr. McNinja. SMBC updates every day, Dominic Deegan updates every weekday, PA, AG Lite, Dr. McNinja and XKCD update on Mon.'s, Wed.'s, and Fri.'s, Johnny Wander updates Tues.' and Thur.'s, and AG updates Mon.'s and Thur.'s.
Phew, that last one was a mouthful. *takes a breather*
And finally, for number 10: 10. *wink wink, nudge nudge*
Well, that's all I got. If you successfully manage to get through everything on this list while you're waiting for your character to be approved, just PM me. I got loads more of ideas for your spare time.
7. Hulu or Youtube. Both should have something that will keep you busy. My personal recommendations are to Whedon-ize yourself with Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog and every episode of Firefly. Both of these can be found on Hulu.
