In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

There aren't enough praises in the world I'd like to give to wonderful coders for the Proboards community. The following have contributed to World Destiny in some way: W3 Schools for countless how-tos and countless of other souls who have helped get WD up to where it is.

Just an idea, just so we don't keep getting random people posting in the middle of threads, and having that be their ONLY post, how about we restrict posting permissions for new members until they actually go and introduce themselves? That way the welcomers can explain to them where to go, how to properly apply and join into the RP, etc...
It'd also help clear up the people whom wouldn't contribute well at all to the RP. All I think that'd be required is to set up a permission mask for all members with less than one post that only lets them post in the introduction forum, then after that having it automatically promote them to a normal member.
It would be possible, but I don't think it's necessary. We don't get that many of those, really, and the ones we do - well, stupidity is amazingly resilient. How many of them would make one post on someone else's intro thread and then go right into an RP thread with "hoW you play ths lol"? But they're pretty easy to ignore.
And really, those don't stick around. I like to think maybe we scare them with our complete sentences and such, although it's more likely they never meant to stay.
I've seen like five or so happen since I've been on--which is about a month. I've actually done this once before, and it helps. Those that are too stupid to understand common forum courtesy of introducing yourself will simply not be able to do anything. What more, they're most likely beginners, and this rp is NOT for beginners, but for Intermediate and Advanced players, as it says so itself.
It's a great way to weed out undesirable people and characters, people that refuse to read the rules, etc... What're more, just as you said, they DON'T stick around. One of the things in consideration is the elimination of every member on the board with 0 posts. This would likely be followed by the automatic deletion of member accounts with 0 posts after so long (say, a week or so). This would be a good way to keep that automatic deletion going, because posting once then never showing back up could mess up the algorithm trying to get rid of non-contributing members, or delay a deletion from what should be 1 week to being several months when it's picked up by an inactivity check.
We try to be so nice with the 'newbies'. And some of them turn out to be really great roleplayers. But some of them don't understand, even after being here for a while.
Remember, it says on the frontpage intermediate/advanced roleplayers for a reason.
I really hate to sound harsh, but instead of having an RP Academy, people should be learning by themselves....

I like the idea of this, but the problem to me with taking out the RP Academy is how many posts like, "and tehn he walk too the stor," we're going to get. The Rp Academy has helped several people become better roleplayers but at the same time weeded out those that really didn't want to stick around.
Deletion has been somewhat of a difficult task. While I think we try to do it often, (yes every couple months is often, we don't want to do it ever month for fear of deleting those with problems with the computer), I also think that sometimes it would be helpful if we could have a person designated to weeding out the inactive members and sending a list to mods. Then again, when you log on and see in your inbox a long list of all these people to delete, it's hard not to grumble about it. But I certainly do like the idea of having them post in the information board first.
