In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

There aren't enough praises in the world I'd like to give to wonderful coders for the Proboards community. The following have contributed to World Destiny in some way: W3 Schools for countless how-tos and countless of other souls who have helped get WD up to where it is.

And yes, that's my point. For the diehards, filler just = more content. And I'm in love with it every time. I bought a PSP for BbS (and Crisis Core) and I bought a DS for 358/2 Days. I am devote.
And to the naysayers who chafe about KH3 not coming out fast enough, hear this: In just over a year's time, we've gotten 3 new KH games. They might nt be KH3, but it's still more content than most other franchises see in the span of 2 to 3 years. That's a good thing.
The games motiff is the Distance you Drop in your Dreams before you wake up. Basically saying that the game will take place in the Dreams of Sora and Riku to Save time. ( I think) Hence why destroyed enemies such as Xemnas and Ansem are Seen already. Along with the New Drop Drive, Idk anything about that. Yadayada Mark of Mastery, Xehonort is coming back I'mma publish a theory on this soon.

I do know information about the game seeing as the last comment was two months ago.
Storyline: Sora and Riku are going through the mark of mastery exam set by Yen sid and Mickey. Unfortunately things dont go to plan when Riku is attacked by a being that resembles Ansem and Sora is attacked by a being that resembles Xemnas.
Confirmed worlds: Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed Traverse Town as playable and he has also confirmed Notre Dame as a new world. What is also known is that every Disney world is completely new to the sereis. This means no Olympus Colluseum, no Atlantica and no Agrabah.
Title: Kingdom Hearts 3D does have a another name. 3D is short for Dream, Drop, Distance. The reason is currently unknown.
Gameplay: It is known that Sora and Riku play differently so its not just a Sora sprite with Riku's face. We also know that they can interact with the scenery more. For example, Sora is able to swing around lamposts to gain speed with attacks. One last thing is that most gameplay features in KH3D with be implemented in KHIII.
Extra information: Tetsuya Nomura has also confirmed that they were not lazy by making Sora and Riku revert back to their old clothes. Their clothing choice has some relevance to the story. The reason is unknown.
This is all i have heard. I hope that people apreciate this.

The reason Sora and Riku have their KH1 looks, despite KH3D being set after KH2 is because Sora and Riku are going to have entirely new outfits. The new looks aren't finalized yet, and their old attire was used as a placeholder until they were revealed. It also explains why Riku wields Souleater and not Way to Dawn. His KH1 spite and animation models weren't programmed with Way to Dawn, and Souleater was easier to repurpose.

I don't think so. Nomura did state in an interview that these clothes in particular were going to stick for a good portion of the game. Their designs are still subject to change, but Sora and Riku will not apparently change clothing until later in KH3D.
According to an interview, Tetsuya Nomura said the game will take part on the Mark of Mastery, but not completely, and has stated that there will be new clothing for Sora and Riku.
Either way, they're withholding the new appearances, and I don't see much reason why they would go from -3 years in clothing style to current in one game, especially given the body frame change. I haven't heard anything about them maintaining their original appearances. It would make much more sense to keep them in their KH2 attire than KH1.

I agree with Rook.
My thoughts about the game in general... It's all a dream, I think. In the trailer we see a bunch of Soras dropping from the sky. Also, we have interactivity with the environment, which is new. There's a meter in the game called "Drop", also new. Then we have Sora jumping off the tower from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. This would be the explanation for the KH1 attire, in my opinion. None of this normally happens in the normal realm of the Kingdom Hearts universe, and the title has "dream" in it... soo... xD
I do hope we get an attire change soon, though. :/
There's my two cents ^_^
@rook's earlier post-- I'm also a diehard as well xD Though I am a bit annoyed about the lack of KH3.
If it's taking place after KH2, there has to be more relevance than just being a dream. I don't see how it could be a dream, and it would still keep relevance to the plot, unless they woke up with new abilities, which is a new level of not making sense, even for Kingdom Hearts.

I dunno, that's just my thought. It's however Yen Sid decides to train Riku and Sora. Maybe it's an attempt to awaken their inner abilities? I'm not sure, because BbS shed little to no light on how Yen Sid trained Mickey. You've brought up a valid point, though ^_^

Isn't the whole "Dream" part supposed to relate to the Mastery Test Riku and Sora are gonna go through? So wouldn't make sense that this "dream world" is a way of proving it? Sorry if I sound noobish, I'm a diehard, but a stupid diehard.
I dunno, I haven't heard anything but speculation on the "Dream" part. I'd like to think that if they are going through a Mark of Mastery exam, it isn't going to be in any kind of dream or surreal scenario, but a real situation. In my eyes, Sora and Riku have proven themselves time over time, much moreso than Terra or Aqua or Ventus have. They deserve a true exam with a rewarding result.
In an interview in this month's issue of Famitsu, series creator Tetsuya Nomura revealed that development of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is 40-50% finished, with voice recording to begin soon. Nomura also said that the game will have a secret movie like previous games in the series. A new playable demo is said to be available at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show later this year, which will feature two new "enigmatic" characters, along with a new type of enemy.
Yay progress updates! And a little under 2 months until we find out more legit info on this game!
