In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Rourke glanced back down from looking worryingly at the sky when a lot of people started to address him. As the commander, Rourke have had experience with being needed by a number of people at the same time. It was one of the responsibilities that came with his duty and task as commanding officer of the expedition. Rourke sniffed in air through his nostrils as he remained calm and focused. Dividing his attention over the many cases that it required.
Rourke first turned to Basch after he had offered his Gummi Ship as shelter. Rourke answered: "Good man, I thank you for your aid. Unfortunately our numbers are much greater then that of 30. Still I would like to have our most severe wounded to be transfered to your ship for treatment. "
Then Rourke turned his head to the red headed Rose and the strange black creature following her as a shadow. By hearing her specialty a smile appeared as a stroke of luck had reached the Commander. "Miss Rose, a pleasure to meet you. Your technical abilities would certainly be of much help since we are currently without our own engineer. I will let you know when I require your assistance." Rourke gave her a smiling nod. There was something about her that reminded him a bit of Audrey. Since both were young females and engineers.
Then his gaze stretched out to Cookie who was near the wounded and asked to start cooking. A bitter memory to the fine cuisine of the chef made him reluctant to honor the request. Still the commander knew old Jebidiah and that criticizing his cooking would only upset him greatly. An angry cook was something he could miss at the moment. Contemplating the situation Rourke stroke with his hand over his mouth and chin before answering: "Later mister Farnsworth. We are first going to move to a more secure location. But when we arrive, I expect hot sturdy meals for everyone."
Then his attention was drawn by Arlan who stood besides Cookie. Rourke witnessed his extraordinary healing abilities and listened to his motion. His wolf companion was intriguïng as well as troublesome. Rourke had difficulty believing the wolf to be as tame as a trained house dog. But with the losses he couldn't afford to look a gift horse in the mouth. Speaking in a formal manner he replied: "Very well mister Asteran. Since we are not in need of any offense help at the moment. I would like to request your assistance in healing the wounded that are transported to this noble man's ship." Rourke gestured with his hand toward Basch, who hadn't given his name yet.
Finally Rourke now paid attention to Atlantace as he came to learn the name of the gargantuan beast that flew over them as a foreboding shadow of doom. Looking up at the large dragon like figure, Rourke could only be thankful and glad that the creature wasn't hostile. Of all the things that he expected to come across on this expedition, this set of strange people with even stranger animal companions was among the last things on that list.
When Atlantace finished speaking, Rourke was on edge for there were alarming elements in the explanation. So the city had a defense system, but against what remained unknown. What possible threat could here be for him to need to set out guards. Rourke stepped closer to Atlantace until he stood directly in front of him. While his eyes shifted slightly nervously from the knight to the dragon and back. His secure voice sounded: "If your 'companion' could salvage the wreck of our main ship, the Ulysses, from the asteroïd field. Then it would help us greatly. For only our escape pods have found their way to the surface of this world. But for now I feel it to be best to head into the city for the night. It certainly seems to be a big enough place to temporary house my men. And I would like to meet with this master mechanic."
Rourke then turned to Rose as he asked her on a friendly tone: "Miss Rose, I would like you to accompany me. It never hurts to have a second opinion on such matters."
Then Vinny and Ravian also joined the discussion. While the demolitions expert joined in the Commander's opinion about leaving for the safety of the city. Rourke simply answered:" Yes Vinny. Go rally the man, we're moving out."
Vinny nodded as he received the order from commander Rourke to move out. He turned around and spreads the order among the crew. The sky was darkening fast as light started to fade. The sun was disappearing behind the horizon giving a most astonishing sunset in the crystal reflections of the great maw.
During this, Vinny obviously heard the comment of the young boy Ravian. While raising his shoulders he answered while the cigarette danced on his lips: "Well so is driving a car, but we have traffic jams every day. And you mean money? If I had a lots of those then I wouldn't be here doing crazy expedition work now would I."
(ooc: new round, this one ends on 3th of Februari.)
"Uh, sure. You know, I cold probably turn these pods into a good shelter. Not like they're gonna be much use for anything else." She began typing on her computer, guesstimating the dimensions of the pods, and the ammount of usable material in each on. She walked up to one, trying to figure out what kind of metal was in it.
Hale, still in her shadow, relaxed, thinking about this whole new adventure. Or at least, he though about it for three seconds, before he stopped cold. Which meant that he dropped out of Rose's shadow. He was exposed, but he didn't even notice as he focused. There were Heartless massing. They hadn't attacked yet, but they were very close by. He blinked when he realised he had been left behind, and hurried back to Rose. Heartless coming. Many many coming.
"Well. Shit."

A loud roar from above alerted Atlantace to the eminent danger as well. Incoming heartless, there seems to be a very large number of them, just over the ridge. Damnit! I want a good estimate, if you can. Thanks for the heads up.
Atlantace noticed that the Red head had produced a very interesting breed of heartless from her shadow. So that's what Bloodbane was talking about...
Atlantace drew his Ranseur, calling out to the Commander. "Get your men ready for battle, post-haste! We have an enemy force approaching, as of right now they seem to be holding back. Your opponent is a multitude of creatures from the darkness, and since we are outside of the town's defense range, they have free reign on where they can appear. You will learn quickly, or die. As for everyone else, disperse enough to protect the wounded or otherwise incapable of defending themselves; prepare for a heartless horde!"
Even though it may have appeared that the dragon knight was young, a strange air of authority seemed to emanate with his words. He had been in this situation before, many times. The only difference with this occasion is that these weren't his men; they didn't know him as the Weapon's Master, or as the King's Adviser for that matter. However, Atlantace hoped that the foreign Commander would realize that listening would be best.
Atlantace, not waiting to see the result of his command, continued over to the knight whom had offered his gummi ship. "You there, Sir knight. Do you have any way of getting that ship here automatically? Even if it doesn't have any armament, it's use would be more than pivotal in insuring the survival of these men."
Atlantace looked toward the direction of town, and then the direction of the heartless attack. At least they aren't coming from the direction of town... that would make things so much worse.
Saxen ran over to join the group a little late. He had a bad feeling about things at the moment. He called to Splodyhead before he ran over. He came over just in time to hear Rourke addressing everyone. So, this girl was an engineer. When Rourke invited Rose to come with him to meet the head mechanic, Saxen had to speak up. "I may be of some help, as well. I can make all sorts of things out of metal and know quite a bit about all sorts of things." Then, he heard Rose's idea of turning the pods into a shelter. "I could help shape the metal and weld them together."
Shortly after he said this, however, one of the men around started giving orders. Battle. With the Heartless. Too bad he didn't have his weapons with him. They might could be of some use to others. He quickly decided that all he had time for was to decide where he was most needed. Once the man stopped giving his orders, Saxen spoke up once again. "We need to get everyone together. We need places for the people who can't fight to hole up and we need to protect those places. That should be our top priority. While we have time, we need to make a shelter." Then, he grabbed Rose's shoulder and said, "Come on, we need to get to work."

[Running a bit late, but still here]
Jebidiah "Cookie" Farnsworth "The Unusual Chef"

With Cookie being told to not cook yet but it would happen when all were accounted for and the group had gotten to a secure location. "Well lets hope that happens soon. Not sure how long this here bacon is gonna last." He said as he walked away for a bit, still looking around for other food items.
Arlan Ashteran "The Lucky Swordsman"

Arlan nodded at the words that came from Rourke as he was asked to be one of their healers for the time being. He could do that for now, but he hoped that it wouldn't last. He was much better as a fighter then a healer, even more so a strategist. But he had to help where absolutely needed. Tilanis made a quick spin around as he also sniffed out the heartless approaching. "He's right. A lot of heartless are on their way here. Probably because of all the hearts over here. Seems you get to fight after all, A" Said Tilanis in his wolf speech. Arlan made a quick nod as he pressed the button on his Card Randomizer. A quick vibration came from it followed by the green light lighting up.
Pulling out the Transmutation card from his pocket, Arlan said "Transmutation!" He then threw it forward, quickly summoning his sword into the air, allowing him to catch it. "Yeah, we got a mass of heartless on the way. Not going to be good... Commander. The main thing you need to know about these creatures is that they attack relentlessly. They don't plan, they just attack... And you do NOT want to be losing to these creatures." He said as he prepared himself, remembering the town's defense system. "Any who can need to get the injured into the town's limits. It'll be the safest place for everyone who is wounded or cannot fight. Those that can... Lets hope you're ready." He prepared himself for the fight to come, waiting for what would happen next.
[NOTE: The following really only pertains to me. It's the card listing for Arlan. As he is a man of luck, I have a randomizer that randomizes my cards up so to make it follow the path of luck more. As I draw cards, this list will be modified. So if you wanna pay attention to it, go ahead. If not, then skip right over it.]

(As much as I would love to have a big chaotic fight...)
Rourke was looking forward as the men were starting to move out of the canyon and the crystal maw. Abandoning the wreckages of the pods. When suddenly the alarming cries of Atlantace and Arlan were bringing his attention back to the rear. Immediately focused the Commander quickly climbed a large boulder that was sitting in the middle of the canyon to have a higher vantage point to oversee the situation. He grabbed hold of a pair of binoculars to spot the oncoming mass of black creatures. While observing and taking in these Heartless for the first time, the shouting from Atlantace disturbed him. As in the next moment, Arlan started to shout different suggestions for them to take it became very clear to Rourke that these people were not working together at all. Rose and another boy with a dog went over to the pods for god knows which reason. Acting purely impulsively on their own. Problems were mounting up. And if there was one thing Rourke didn't want any more of right now, it were problems.
These youngsters lacked a key component in warfare, discipline and coöperation. The military men paid no heed to the words that were said by the outsiders. They were professional and trained. They would only follow the commands of Rourke. For they share something vital, trust. Rourke trusted in his men and the men trusted in Rourke. And in these tensional times, that trust is what they all relied on.
Rourke removed the binoculars after he had seen enough of the advancing horde. Estimated their threat and scanned the area for a tactical advantage. He saw one major feat that would prove useful. The Heartless were massing through the canyon. Being trapped in between it's steep walls just like they were. Rourke glanced over at his men and called one of the sergeants. "Standard defensive strategy. Get the mortar cannon out, I want it deployed and ready to fire within 30 seconds."
Executing the orders, they moved efficïent and fast as if they had rehearsed these actions a million times before. The sail from the sled was thrown off as all man ran passed it in an orderly line. Each receiving a machine gun with ammo as they formed a barrier across the length of the Canyon. The small artillery group worked franticly to secure and load the small mortar they were carrying along. Exactly 30 seconds later they reported to be ready to fire.
Rourke scouted again through the binoculars as he gave specific orders. The Heartless were now slowly picking up speed in advancing them. Rourke said calm and controlled:" Trajectory: 4-2-2 by 6-9-0... Fire!"
With a pull of the cord the mortar shot off with a thunderous blast. The heavy shell soaring through the sky in an arc in the Heartless direction. A burning hot tip leaving a trail of black smoke. The shell however did not travel to the Heartless. It's trajectory lead it to the raised crystallic wall on the right hand side. The highest point of the canyon wall that sticked out far beyond the rest of the higher ground. Above the Heartless their heads, the shell planted itself in the canyon side and exploded with much force. A force so great it tore the massive chunks of rocks and crystals asunder while the entire mountain collapsed. An avalanche rolled down on the large group of Heartless an buried them all. Filling up the canyon and forming a large blockade and dam for all those that survived. The men raised their hands and cheered as the fight was avoided. The low morale was now boosted and the men felt like they could take on anything again.
Rourke smiled, his years of experience had helped in quickly dealing with the situation. And noticing the uprising effect it had on the men he waited a moment to give them the change to fully enjoy it. But even at best this was only a temporary solution, a delay to the attack. Preventing to let the cheering get out of hand he quickly bellowed at the group: "Alright men, fall back. I want everything moved within the city walls on the double! There will be no stopping until we reached that goal. Head out!"
Rourke jumped down from the boulder as he joined his men in the march. As he did so he passed Atlantace and Arlan as he gave them a smug remark: "Don't know about you people but this is how we handle things."
The sick and injured were supported or carried by stretchers. Equipment was hauled by everybody in equal share. The pace of the men was surprisingly high, for the quick victory had lifted up their spirits. After a couple of minutes, they found their way through the Bailey and inside the magnificently restored Radiant Garden.
(OOC: sorry folks but we really want to start with the second arc and the rest of the story. )

The swarm of heartless was getting nearer, and the commander took matters into his own hands. Atlantace heard the commands from Rourke, and realized that, if anything, all that the Dragon Knight would be able to do would be fight off a bunch of heartless on his own. These men are all soldiers... and they know how to handle themselves. It reminds me of my old platoon...
The orders were carried out, and Atlantace couldn't help cracking a smile of his own. Hopefully they'll be able to combat the heartless their on their own in the future too. those weapons they hold; they don't look like toys.
Atlantace bowed to the commander as he passed by. "Your men are well trained, sir. That was impressive."
Bloodbane landed on a nearby ridge, watching the men, who were dwarfed by him, march toward the city. Atlantace, walking along next to the Commander, gave him a small, rectangular, piece of stiff paper. "Here is the person you are looking for, I'm sure he will not be hard to find. Just go around asking for Cid Highwind, and you will find him quickly and he'll be happy to help. On the back is a frequency that you can contact me on while I go get your ship from the asteroids."
Atlantace started to walk toward Bloodbane, parting with a shout of "Good Luck!"
He broke into a dash, quickly covering the ground between him and the large dragon. As Atlantace neared, Bloodbane crouched, and Atlantace jumped onto the immense back of the dragon. Anyone still watching would see the dragon knight glow briefly, before seemingly disappearing.
Seconds later, Bloodbane's massive wings opened, and he took off, flying over the marching troops with a resounding roar. The massive creature began to ascend, and kept rising into the atmosphere, gathering speed. As they climbed, Atlantace, now securely inside of the Cockpit, began to take off his armor, placing it on the specially made stand.
Running his hands through his hair, he returned to his seat, situating himself at the weapons controls as Bloodbane kept the course towards the Asteroid field.
Rose shrugged Saxen's hand off her shoulder. "Unless you are a fan of having bones broken, don't touch me," she said roughly. She watched in fascination as the soldiers fired upon the Heartless, then began to move into the city. Rose hurried to catch up to the Commander. "If I may as so, sir, that was epic." She eyed the mortar launcher. Early 1900's, somewhere between '00 and '30. She had always loved studying weapons, and she had a small but serviceable library of things that went boom. "What size rounds do you guys use in that thing? How much explosives are in them? What kind of metal is it made from? Did you guys have it made custom, or is it off-the-shelf?" Rose was beginning to babble, then she tripped, stopping up the stream of words. Halen pushed her up from her shadow, but still mostly stayed in it. Being surround by so many people made him nervous. Especially if that big metal boom thing was how they handled his kind.
(So sorry for my delay, and thank you, Noma, for keepin Splodyhead in the picture)
Be careful of survivors his ass… Of course he would be careful! He was a super creature, after all? Splodyhead, still not wanting to assist, sighed and went to work. Using his plasma nose, he shot the pod with it. Oh goo- Oh, yeah, he was supposed to be careful, wasn’t he? Oh well… Using his dog like hands, he opened up to see… Eww… There was a guy with some- a lot of injuries. Ooh, he wasn’t good with this stuff. Raising his paw like hand to his face, he licked it and then wiped the man’s forehead like a mother would do to a child when they saw something on their face. Looking at his paw, which was now stained in blood, he sighed. It wasn’t very important, since his fur color was red… Well, returning his attention to the injured guy, the little experiment moved his head closer to the man’s chest.
Now how did the doctors do it back in Hawaii… Oh yeah, first, they checked their heart beat, right? He cringed his face as he rested his little head on the chest; he listened in on his heart beat. So gross, actually, it was really gross… The man was alive, alright. Quickly taking his head off, he thought about what to do next. Would he have to perform that mouth to mouth thing? Eww… Once again, gross. Well, if it would help him… Blowing up his cheeks, clearly having air in his mouth, he lowered his head and opened the mouth of the unconscious man. He was very tempted to just walk away and never come back… But he guessed he had to if it would save the life. He didn’t know any magic or have any potions on him, so he had to do it. Finally, he just stopped thinking and did it.
Clearly, he wasn’t trained for it… When he thought he was done, Splodyhead quickly backed away from the man. He instantly never wanted to do that again. He looked at the man, who was breathing, but he was still in a half-unconscious state. “Whaa?” the man mumbled. Yay! He did it! He did it! Huh? He heard his name being called. It was Saxen! He couldn’t wait to tell Saxen that he saved a life! There was a lot of excitement that ran through his precious little head. The little experiment started to run towards his human friend, but then instantly stopped. He forgot about the human male. Returning his attention towards the man, he sprinted over to the man and dragged him out of the pod. Then, when done, he ran back to Saxen.
Heartless? Oh no, that wasn’t good. It was those black creatures… With full attention, he listened to the conversation between the humans. It looked like Saxen was going to make a shelter for the injured. When the female told Saxen to not touch her, he thought about laughing. But he didn’t, because it was a serious situation and all. Quickly barking at Saxen, he looked up to Saxen and saluted him with a smile, letting Saxen know that he was Splodyhead’s captain and he would follow any of his orders. Though, before Saxen could even tell him where to go and what to get, or something else, he heard orders to others.
That… Was… Unbelievable… Splodyhead watched in amazement as the heartless were buried. He felt like jumping up and down in excitement, because of how that situation was handled. He loved everything about it. It was… EPIC!!!! If he had the thing humans used to control the magic box things(TV), he would’ve paused and then re-winded it back and watched all over again. Sucks he couldn’t do it. When done, the soldiers moved out. And then, looking up at Saxen, he waited to see what Saxen would do next.
Ravian watched on rather relaxed as at the first sign of heartless everyone went into a frenzy, depending on how it went he might just leave during the battle, after all no use staying here if all of the visitors were useless.
But as he backed out of the way of well, everyone. He started noticing a sudden increase of activity among the military members of the crash landers. They were getting something out? It looked like a cannon. But it was aimed to high to hit anything wasn't it? Or at least when it they got closer it would be. But the heartless never got the chance to get close. As he walked towards the "cannon" it suddenly went off. He flinched at first but then watched what it had shot. A small odd shaped "...oh a bomb. he thought as he figured out its shape. His thoughts were soon confirmed as the mortar round hit the canyon wall.
He watched in awe as the whole canyon wall crushed the heartless. It was impressive to say the least it would have taken them a while to take those heartless out by hand. "Wow." he said, his eyes wide. "That was cool" he stood there not believing how easy it had been to get rid of the heartless, then hurried after the men on the ground.
As his troops reached the safety of town. an encampment of tents quickly rose up in a large unused part of the Bailey. Rourke oversaw everything and guided his men where needed. But most went on by itself giving him the opportunity to focus on other issues like the public relations with this small city and it's inhabitants. He first frowned at Rose's barrage of questions about the mortar cannon in their possession. Luckily she was halted by not paying enough attention to her feet as she tripped. Rourke couldn't help but smile as he answered her: "I'm afraid that is all classified information that I can not share with civilians. Only my men and my engineering crew are entitled to the information of our weaponry and equipment. However miss Rose, if you're willing to assist me in looking up this Cid Highwind I keep hearing about, I might be lenient to share some technological details."
The last sentenced he said on a more familiar tone while leaning over slightly to her and giving her a wink. Rourke then patrolled the new camp to see how everybody was settling in. Spirits where once again high after the crash. All thanks to the victory they held over the Heartless in the canyon. Rourke smiled, he needed to keep morale up so that everybody would keep doing their best. Walking over to Cookie he addressed the elder as he spoke with a hint of respect in his voice: "Mister Farsnworth, you may commence with preparing and distributing meals. I need my men well fed in these harsh conditions. Also I'm assigning some men over to you to help you restock whatever food supplies you can acquire in this city. We need to replenish that what we have lost. But don't wander off by yourself mister Farnsworth."
Rourke then straightened his uniform again. Making sure that every wrinkle was smoothened out and he looked very presentable again. Glancing over at Rose, awaiting her to join, Rourke then proceeded into the town to find this Cid Highwind.
Sometime later...
"... what's that? You want me to help you build a new ship to continue on this expedition of yours? Well it could be done but it would take some time there."
Rourke replied while his eyes shifted to Rose: "I understand, but what if other mechanics and engineers would assist you in the build?"
Cid thought for a moment and then mumbled on with the toothpick dancing on his lips: "If they know what they're doing, it would move a lot faster then. Laborers aren't the problem but people telling them what to do is. Can't be everywhere myself."
Rourke extended his hand as he shakes the one of Cid Highwind. Saying with a satisfied smile: "I thank you kindly sir. Your help is greatly appreciated. You have my word that my employer, mister B. Whitmoore will repay you in full for your efforts."
Cid:" So when do you want us to start building your new ship?"
Rourke:" I was thinking about... right now."
And so it came to pass that the crashed military expedition of the Ulysses started construction a new ship. A phoenix rising from the ashes of the old ship. Under the guidance of Cid Highwind and other mechanics/engineers that volunteered to help. The Bailey transformed into a wharf for the time being. As the new spaceship that would continue the Atlantis Expedition was starting to take shape.
(ooc: time lapse of a couple of day's. the construction of the new ship is the last part of this arc. By now all Radiant Garden knows about the crashed expedition and their rebuild of their spaceship. )
Rose sat inside a large compartment near the engine. Halen stood on the ground beneath her. "Get me another couple squares, Halen." The Heartless walked off the the small pile of gummi blocks Rose had grabbed. He grabbed two of the regular blocks, and shaped them into squares. He then brought them to Rose. He tossed them up to her, and she caught them, then stuck them into the gap she had been working in. She clambered out, finished with that part. She dropped the tools into a toolbox, and picked it up. Halen walked behind her, carrying it. By now she had explained about him to nearly everyone, so he could walk freely. Rose turned her head left and right, looking for Rourke. She didn't see him anywhere.

Arlan Ashteran
"The Lucky Swordsman"
Arlan watched as the commander had caused them to build the giant mortar and fire toward the heartless, hitting a rock face and stopping their movements. He scoffed slightly as the commander had passed him and said something, acting very smug. He wasn't sure what it was, but he didn't entirely like this commander. And if he had to listen to his orders the entire way, he wasn't sure that he would want to continue. On the other hand, this gave him a new place to go to to help Tilanis, so he decided to grin and bear it as he walked with them, helping them get within the city walls.
Throughout it's construction, Arlan did whatever he could in terms of getting the supplies they needed. While not the best way in the world, Arlan managed to steal quite a few items in the dead of night without the other's knowledge. He was quite sneaky when he needed, having to deal with the glares that came from his wolf. Arlan shrugged, saying that it was necessary as he would bring it to them to help resupply the ship, even getting some food for Cookie to use, but most of it was thrown across the way. Arlan sighed, itching for some action soon.
Jebidiah "Cookie" Farnsworth
"The unusual chef"
As the night went on, Cookie whistled as he threw this and that into his giant pot, mixing together who knows what. With a small taste, Cookie said "Yep... That be some good steak goin on there." But anyone who looked into the pot would see a sloppy mess, hardly looking like steak. Everyone was given a plate as he rang his cowbell "Come and get it!!!" How he managed to make enough for everyone was astounding, but the amount of waste that came from it was also astounding. As he slopped ladle filled amounts of food onto the plates, some took one bite and gagged. Others refused to even touch it as the food was thrown into a fire or into a corner. Even a rat who came up to the slop refused to touch it again after one taste.
Cookie on the other hand, took his own plate and started gobbling the food down. "Mmmm... Nothin like a good steak after a long day's work." He said to himself, apparently oblivious to the complaints about the food and that it was inedible. He liked his cooking and nothing would stop him from eating it.
"Oh thank God, food. Cookie, you've outdone yourself. This is muchbetter than the radioactive slop and giant ant legs that I'm used to." She gobbled it down hungrily, as a few of the crew members watched her with a mixture of amazment and disgust on their faces. Not one of them said anything, though. They had all heard of this girl's shadowy guardian. "Arlan, have you seen the commander? The engines are ready for their shakedown, and I just got that weapon bug worked out."
