In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

An elegant, grand, peaceful event originating from ideas in this thread. Guests shall be arriving by carriage. Feel free to precede your first post with a description or image of your character's formal attire.
In the ballroom itself an orchestra of instruments play on a red-carpeted, raised platform, and serving appliances dance animatedly upon the refreshment tables lining the far wall. A few masked individuals swirl across the floor while other early guests chat in the cool air of the balcony. The beautiful, rich harmonies of an organ resonant from the depths of the castle.
Such is the magic of your hosts at the Beast's Castle.

(( Nyra's dress from the front, back, and her profile. I was too lazy to finish the mask so have a narwhal. Named Ned. Not drawn: Her mask - black and elegant but simple. Black cardigan to cover her shoulders on the way to the castle. ))
Nyra shifted awkwardly the feather dress. It was light and beautiful, even she had to admit, but she was unaccustomed to the open back and bare shoulders. The event she was heading towards now was no place for casual attire.
In her excitement it was difficult to sit still. Nyra leaned across the dark carriage seat to peer out the window. Her golden eyes narrowed as she peered between the silhouettes of tree trunks whipping by, and then, after a bend in the woodland path, they widened. Over the black velvet of the horses' backs a grand castle rose into view, with a warm, glowing entryway directly contrasting the dark might of the rest of the structure.
The horses pulled up at the foot of the cobblestone stairs. Nyra took a breath and exited the carriage; light, musical sounds reached her ears at the first step. From there a train of warm wall lanterns lead her down a broad hallway lined with suits of armor, at the end of which another huge set of double doors were opened wide.
To her amazement a coat hanger trotted over, bowed, took her cardigan, and led her gently through the doors. Nyra stepped into the ballroom, and was instantly bathed in light and music. The young woman strode forward as if in a daze, entranced by the high ceiling, the grand chandelier, the few elegant guests already beginning to dance - it was nothing like she'd ever seen, practically surreal.
As the carriage passed the darkness of this new world, Arthas gripped onto the head of his cane, not knowing what to expect at this party. Yes, it was a chance to relax and enjoy himself, but he ahd no clue what or even who to expect. However, once the carriage stopped, he didn't hesitate to get out and enter the castle, hearing the notes of the music as he walked into the hallway. His eyes narrowed behind his mask as some sort of furniture took his cane for him, but he shook it off, having seen weirder.
As he entered the main ballroom, he looked around, seeing the attendants movign around in a hurry, then waved oen down and took a small glass of soem amber liquid. Taking a sip from it, he scanned the room once more, spying a woman who appeared to have just walked in. Sadly, the familiar silver hair of his love didn't appear to him, and he sighed before sitting in a chair, waiting for more people to appear.
However, when none did, he stood and placed his empty glass on the table, approaching the woman in the feather dress, and brushed a hand on her shoulder, saying in a more elegant way,
Nervously neading her fingers, Haruka slowly exited the cairrage that had delivered her to the castle. She had never been very good in crowded atmospheres, and there appeared to be many people in attendance to the ball. She also was not very comfterable with the dress she was wearing. True, she had designed it herself, but Haruka had never actually intended on wearing it. With her sholders and back exposed, Haruka felt vulnerable, and she did not want the attention she felt she might recieve at the party.
Mentally scolding herself for being such a scaredy-cat, Haruka climbed the stairs to the entrance of the castle and hesitantly walked inside. Upon entering the ball room, Haruka gave a small sigh of relief. There weren't that many people at the ball yet, and many of them were busy with one another, some waltzing, some simply talking to one another along the walls and balconys. Momentarily comforted that there wouldn't be too many people to talk to yet, Haruka began to scan the crowd to see if there was anyone here that she knew.
A servant of the castle walked up to her with a tray of drinks, asking,
" Madamouiselle, would you care for a beverage?"
Startled, Haruka jumped at the man's voice, but composed herself and. smiling, said,
"Thank you sir."
Sipping the glass, and inwardly thanking goodness for the drink not having alchohal in it, Haruka took a seat at an empty table and contented herself with watching the other dancers. She hoped that after a short time she would begin to relax and would be able to join the festivities.

( Lineart for her and her dress will be up soon )
When Lakuri arrived to the Ball, it was already dark outside... Late, or so she thought, as usual. There was no one outside the Ball so she walked up the stairs on her own, allowing her dress to freely fall behind her.
When she got inside however, there where only a few people. Wow, and I thought I was late. Lakuri thought as she walked over to one of the chairs that lined the wall, and sat down. Truth be told, she had never been to a Ball like this. it was so fomal, it took her a while to decide somthing to wear.... and she really had no idea what to do aside from sit and watch for a bit. Hopefully someone would come over and help her out.

[Alias' clothes: i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj296/jorgewaggoner/WitchesFormal.jpg] Alias stepped out of a flash of violet light on the bridge. He looked around wondering why his amulet had brought him here. He had wanted to go to a place that would relax him. Apparently the collective wisdom of his clan within the stone of the pendant had thought this castle was a good idea, it seemed there was a ball of sorts going on here. Alias would have rushed in, if it weren't for his plain clothes. He toughed his stone and envisioned himself in the formal wear of his clan, he felt the fabric of his clothes change and morph into the shape that he had envisioned, and he felt the chains of platinum weave into the cloth. He didn't need a mirror to see how he looked, he just knew.
Alias walked into the ballroom in his flowing vestment, the chains not rattling like most people would think, they seemed light and weightless. He looked about the room, seeing so few people, he was surprised, he would expect a place like this to have more people. He walked over to a waiter and grabbed a tall thin glass of wine. He then walked behind a pillar and set the glass on the floor and touched the stone in his amulet and held his hand above the glass, the glass then disappeared and in it's place was a tall thin man in a black tuxedo. He looped his arm with the man's and walked to a table where a rather lonely girl was sitting and he smiled at her and leaned down and whispered in her ear. "My friend here would like to dance with you." He said softly, the man just smiled and nodded softly.
Black high heels clicked against the tile. Raven and red hair was brushed out rust-like eyes with a white-gloved hand. The opposite hand held the floor-length dress above her feet. She was proceeding up the steps, the raven-haired girl. Before her were the double doors. At the ready were two servants. At the top of the steps, she found herself awfully alone and wondered if she had shown up late. The girl gave her name softly through pale pink lips, "Helena Mitsuko."
The doors opened up to the brilliance of the ballroom. It was too bright for her liking, to be quite honest. There were people already there, but only a handful. The tsundere let the dress fall at her feet and took a few uneasy steps forward. This was the first time she'd ever been to such an outing. This was the first time she'd ever worn a dress. This was the first time she'd ever worn makeup. Her features were striking against the black of her dress. One of her white gloved hands touched the silver locket at her neck, the only piece of jewelry she decided to wear. The blood-red ribbon that was usually attached to Phoenix Feathers was tied in a bow at her wrist. She didn't like people... But maybe now was her chance to change her outlook.
The raven-haired girl took resolute steps forward, unafraid to face the world.
A certain Heartless looked on with an immense amount of glee at the scene before him. He had a pretty little crowd before him already. The Heartless had appeared via Dark Corridor next to the Ballroom window to save him some time. In his hand was a glass of wine from which he freely drank. There was some more around, or so he thought, at the very least. Thankfully for these lovely people, he'd taken the liberty to feed beforehand. He wasn't nearly as starving now...
"More wine?"
"Don't mind if I do," Braig said with an aura of satisfaction. As the servant poured some more of Braig's favorite poison, the Heartless took a look at himself. He'd really come casually formal. The suit he wore was jet black, his tie loose at the neck. A Phantom of the Opera-esque mask covered the side of his face without the eyepatch. His dress shirt was limp and lifeless. Though it would normally look unpleasant, Braig honestly felt like a dashing young gentleman. He adjusted his gloves and continued keeping an eye on the crowd from his post against the window.

Alias felt a dark corridor open and close. He looked about and noticed Braig, he couldn't help but smile and chuckle to himself. He slowly made his way towards the heartless, leaving his creation to fend for it's self. As he approached Braig he noticed his mask and couldn't help but chuckle. "I hope your not planning on bringing down the chandelier it would be a right shame to ruin such a lively party." Alias said grinning at the man
[/color] it took him a minutes worth to cross the ballroom. His breathing was slightly heavy, but he was glad to be in close proximity with somebody he knew. Crossing his arms behind his back once he recovered, he beamed at Helena.
"So you're here too, hm?"
(( oh boy oh boy oh boy ))[/ul]

While Haruka had been sitting quietly at her table, she had noticed several new faces enter the ball room, each wearing an equally specatacular outfit to suite the occasion. Haruka was slightly disheartened by the attire of some of the new guests. They had worn shorter dresses that attracted the eyes and gave off an appealing air. Her own dress, more of a gown actually, went all the way to the floor, and she had worn gloes going up past her elbows.
She sighed, slightly envious of the other guests who were not painfuly self-concious like herself. Some had already met up with others that they were aquainted with and were clearly enjoying themselves.
After finishing off her drink, Haruka left her table and began to meander around the ball room. She admired the elegance of the interior, and gave a small gasp of delight when, upon looking at the painted ceiling, she noticed that the cherubs on the painting were moving, flying slowly to and fro among the clouds while looking down upon the other guests.
Suddenly, Haruka froze. What...is that? It may have been nothing at all, but she could have sworn she had felt something enter the ballroom. Something that contrasted with the light and happy atmosphere of the party.
Looking around slowly, she tried to pinpoint where she had felt the strange presence as it had entered the room. After a moment, her eyes rested upon the upper balcony of the room.
There. That's where it entered the party.
Focusing her attention to that area of the room, Haruka tried to figure out what it had been that had decided to show up in such a manner. She had felt the presence only for a moment, then it was gone, as if something had opened and closed almost in the same instant. Her ability to sense these sort of things, however, was not very stong, and Haruka was unable to fully identify what the being was. All she knew, from what she could tell, was that the being did not intend to do anyone harm here, and was simply observing the festivities.
Relaxing at this, Haruka turned her attention back to the cherubs, who were now playing a small game of tag upon the ceiling.
Saxen and Alexandros walked together on their way to the castle. Saxen was wearing his freshly polished armor. He knew that it wasn't the nicest thing in the world to wear, but, on his world, it was what he had been expected to wear to all formal occasions. Besides, what was the saying about knights in shining armor? He, of course, hadn't brought either of his swords, and, honestly, he felt a little. . . well. . . off. He was a soldier. His weapon was part of who he was, wasn't it? Zander was dressed a little more. . . normal. He was wearing a long, black suit jacket, a red tie, and a white dress shirt. Of course, both of them were wearing black boots, though, Saxen had bought cowboy boots to wear in memory of his mother.
They walked into the castle and walked on to the ballroom. There were already a few girls around, which made Saxen smile. They were all pretty attractive, too. Zander noticed the smile and nudged Saxen with his elbow, saying, "At least TRY not to flirt with every girl here, will ya?" With that, the smile disappeared off Saxen's face and Alexandros promptly received a hit on the shoulder. Alexandros chuckled and went off to lean on a wall, somewhere away from other people, abandoning Saxen.
Now by himself, Saxen had to decide where he was going to go and who he would talk to. He decided to head over to the blue-haired girl, as she was all by herself. He walked over to her and smiled at her. "Would you like some company?" he asked her. He was rather impressed by her choice in apparel. It was modest. He appreciated that. A lot. It helped him to relax. "My name is Saxen," he said with a bow. She was pretty, and she was modest. It was going to be nearly impossible for him NOT to flirt, and, off along the wall, somewhere, Zander was shaking his head.
(COME ON!! I think I feel a pulse! Woah! I can't believe I made you wait so long for a reply! Sorry! XD)
After observing the cherubs for a few more moments, a young man approached Haruka, saying, "Would you like some company? My name is Saxen."
Almost immediately, Haruka's face flushed, and her tounge seemed stuck in her mouth. She was never very good in conversation, especially when she was talking to boys, and now she was being directly addressed by a man she did not know.
Stop it! He's a perfectly normal guy! Pull yourself together and say something!
Haruka mentally berated herself. She turned and, looking the young man straight on, said, "Hello! Yes, I would appriciate some company!"
Her reply was a little louder than she had wanted it to be, but it was a party. Who would notice? Saxen didn't seem too, at least. Haruka congratulated herself. She had managed to reply to Saxen without stuttering or shifting her eyes to the floor.
After replying to Saxen, she took a moment to study him. He was wearing an impressively polished suite of armor, which she assumed was customary for him to wear where he was from, and... was he wearing cowboy boots? No matter, they suited him just fine. His silvery blonde hair somewhat covered his face, but Haruka could still clearly see his smiling deep blue eyes, which gave him an overall friendly appearance.
Haruka smiled, seeing that he was a newer guest to the festivities, and introduced herself.
"My name is Haruka. It is truely a pleasure to meet you, Saxen." She stated while bowing slightly.
