In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

It was a nice day in Twilight Town. The sun hung overhead, and there was a slight breeze in the air, making the day feel feel that much better. The Sandlot was Casual as usual, though there were no signs of Seifer being there that day. Instead the lot was relatively empty.
Coming from the alleyway, a young Al Bhed man walked into the Sandlot, with his gun holstered on his back. The man was Netti. He had been a resident of Twilight Town for quite awhile since he was taken out of his original world, and he started to like the Town quite a bit. It was comfy, casual, and was filled with generally friendly people most of the time.
Today though Netti had decided he would just come to the Sandlot, sit down maybe shoot blindly into the ground, see if anyone else pops in that he could greet as well as other stuff.
For now though, Netti found his way to one of the comfy benches, well not really that comfy, but they were benches. He looked at a poster behind him it was for the struggle tournaments that they hold every year in the Sandlot.
Netti had never tried the sport and had no plans on doing so. That would require him to fight in close combat, and he sucks as that as well as having almost no muscle at all. Only enough really to hold up a rifle and aim it, though the Al Bhed standard machina rifles weren't exactly the heaviest. Either way he was still never entering that tournament, whenever they hold it.
Roaming aimlessly was becoming Olette's favorite pastime, but this time she complicated things by reading at the same time. Her pointed nose was stuck between the pages welcoming the cool breeze that ruffled flowy white dress, while enjoying the small gait that enabled her to read easily. Her white floppy hat casted a shadow over the book from the blinding orange sun. Her small feet cuffed against the cobblestone in her sandles. Perfectly content she was, as content as she could be, while her bag bounced against her leg.
People paid her no mind as she walked up the market towards her Usual Hangout Spot. That corner of the world, the back alley, was vacant as usual, and she didn't stopped at the ragged curtain to see if Hayner and Pence were there. Instead, she halted momentarily to turn a page not knowing the soft warping sound behind her. In a second, the brunette was on the move again treading down the slope towards the sandlot with shadows trailing behind.
She wasn't intentionally going to the Sandlot; she wasn't in appropriate attire by no means, and the teen normally didn't engage in the sport. With Hayner's competitive nature, the Struggle lost it luster for her to indulge in; she'd rather cheer her friends on in the frenzy, which was more appealing. Also the Sandlot wasn't a place where she'd lounge about. The brunette rather avoid Seifer and his cronies altogether then put up with their shenaniguns and pestering. If they were here, they'd probably snatch up her book, and make give an effort to retrieve. With that self-consciously in mind, she mentally noted to quickly travel through to go to Tram Common.
Each step she took, her own shadow longated with the additional shadows lurking in it. Every now and then a pair of yellow eyes would show.
Netti continued sitting content and all. He was tapping his feet to some old songs he remembered for fun, but even though he was doing nothing he wasn't bored at all, maybe that was because his attention wasn't yet lost, but it probably wouldn't last long. He sat there long and hard all alone until he spotted someone coming from the same alley that he came from. Yay for people.
Something wasn't right though her shadow was all weird defiantly didn't fit her and yellow dots appeared in it from time to time. Maybe something bad, but Netti was hoping it was the sun who was overhead. Though Netti figured he would say hi.
He jumped up off the bench and walked to wards the girl in the white dress. Though she was reading, and sometimes people got annoyed when disturbed from there reading. Eh Netti didn't care. He was a friendly guy so hopefully if the person would be annoyed his carefree personality would make it all better.
"Hey there," He said as he approached the girl in the white dress. He did a small wave.
"The names Netti, how are you today?" He asked being friendly. He looked behind her and her shadow was looking increasingly bad. Like it just was looking un-normal.
"Also you might want to check your shadow I think it's having problems," Netti said continuing to look at the girls weird shadow. Maybe it was the sun or her flowing dress doing it maybe. Highly doubtful though.
Flipping a page, she heard a greeting, and swiftly, her eyes switched to him then back to her book. He didn't look too familiar or anyone she knew; perhaps he was one of those typical that had an allure or joke to say hi to strangers. Regardless she replied with a, "Hello."
Still her eyes were glued to her book presuming that was the end of the exchange. Olette continued on her pace, while she read the pleas of The Finch to the Hoopa in how it was unworthy on the great flight to the Simourgh. Conference of the Birds were held in her hands as her eyes drank in poetic speeches. Still he pressed on to ask her another question,"I'm fine, and you?"
Usually it ended at that, but he gave a name, which made the teen stammer in her reading. Was he trying to come onto her? Why else would a guy offer his name and try to make random small talk? Her legs slowed down while trying to process this still unsure if she wanted to go through this speel or not. She didn't know him, and this was hardly romantic. If anything it was borderline unwanted.
Unwanted.
That word concluded it and encouraged her feet to budge, but it halted. He asked the most ludacrious and oddest question that it left her confused and blank. Pivotting, she turn to look at him awkwardly. Her brows scrunched up at the peculiar male. He certainy looked rugged, while his attire resembled the natural hues of dirt and dust. He stood out like a sore thumb in her eyes; he was one of the Lost. It was a big assumption, but Twilight Town was small enough to know everyone, and she certainly doesn't remember a Netti.
"What? Is that some kid of wretched pick-up line, or some sort of a joke?"
Why was she even indulging herself in figuring this out. Still keeping eye contact with him, her feet shuffled until black claws raked to scratch her ankles. A sharp thing traveled up her leg as if she nearly twisted her ankle.
"Ow, what in the," drawing her dress up a big, she observed her foot and noticed three welts blossoming on her ankle followed by a clawing rip at the hem of her dress. Wide brown eyes saw a pair of bulbous yellow as a black body pulled itself from the cobblestone.
Well the girl seemed intent on reading her book, but she talked, so she was just very much into her book, but was still willing to say stuff, yeah stuff.
"I'm fine," He said in reply to her question. Though at his name she started to slow down. Did he say something weird. All he said was his name, maybe that's not taken as well here...... He was just trying to be friendly.
Then she pivoted when he said his next line and she didn't look impressed. Oh my was his statement too out there. He felt like smacking himself. He was relatively new to the town, and it seemed the first person he tried being friendly too, was just in shock of his statement or something, and her reply further added onto that.
I'm sorry," He said semi-quietly, but then he looked behind her and her shadow was definatly not normal., it looked like claws were coming out of them.
"Um," He said trying to warn her in time, but the claw scratched her.
"I told you your shadow was not normal," He said watching some black creature with yellow eyes appear. What was it he had never seen something like that in Twilight Town before, but for sure it was aggressive or it wouldn't have scratched the girl. Though why was it behind her in her shadow. Was the creature stalking her.
Either way, Netti took his rifle off of his back, and got ready in case the thing tried to attack either the girl or Netti again.
"What is it?" Netti asked pointing his gun at the strange black creature, before firing off a round at the creature. He was going to wait for it to attack first, but the anticipation was too much, and so the shot was fired.
Instinctively, she ran from it, while digging in her sling purse. Her fingers fumbled with grabbing a couple of vails. Hearing him ask a question, she tensely looked at him, "Don't ask just-"
Hearing the gun go off was Olette's second surprise for today. It was incredibly loud and it probably scared her more than the shadow that snuck up on her. What in the worlds was that thing? Never had she saw or HEARD anything like that in Twilight Town. Her potion filled hand were covering her ears with the empty one, and her eyes were squeezed shut. When the noise was over, a brown eye peaked to look at Netti, then back where the shadow was. What was left was a scorch mark on the pavement.
Haaaa When was she holding her breath? She shakedly exhaled, while trying to bring herself back to reality away from the tension of being in shock. Glass shattered as a vial was accidentally dropped. Adrenaline made her arm quiver to place the other back in her pack, while her foot tried to sweep up the broken glass pieces.
"I-I-I'll need to pick those up," inhaling deeper, Olette walked around in a circle pacing herself.
You're fine. You're fine. You're fine. You are fine. You've been fine. You'll be fine, because...you're fine.
Slowly down, she stopped, breathed out, and laxed herself, "Alright...I'm fine."
Brushing back her hair, she then looked towards Netti, "That...was a heartless, a shadow specifically. They are..."
She paused to recollect herself some, "manifestation of darkness. Though they aren't highly conscious like ourselves, they-they mobilize to prey on hearts: hearts of people, h-h-hearts of worlds, etc etc."
The shot from his gun pierced the black being making it go poof. Well that was tense. Such a strange creature, but it looked pretty mean and angry, and by the girls words right before he shot, it can only be assumed he did the right thing.
He looked back at the girl and her eyes were shut, with her hands used to clamp her ears. Was she even breathing. Was it his rifle, was it too loud for the girl. Perhaps. Well at least the monster thing was gone, which meant everything was back to normal.
Netti took a step forward and noticed one of her eyes pop open. Then a huge exhale. Netti put his gun back on his back in it's holster. The girl seemed really nervous or something close to that. Was Netti's gun really that bad, well it was pretty loud, and his ears rang the first few times he used it, but he sort of grew used to the sound.
"Are you okay?" He asked noticing the girl drop a vial. "Do you want some help?" He asked trying to be helpful.
Though the girl answered one question moments later after pacing. So she was fine. Though Netti sort of felt bad now. He shook up the girl, and made her drop a vial of some sort.
Netti listened as the girl explained that the creature was a heartless, and that it preys on hearts, well he'll keep then in mind next time he sees one. Shoot on site no questions asked.
"Hey I'm sorry if my rifle was too loud and stunned you or something, and also sorry if that's what made you drop your vial," Netti said doing a sort of awkward grin, like the type where you do something wrong, but you still try to look happy about it.
"If you need help, I can help, but again sorry if I hurt you or something," Netti said saying sorry again. Sometimes he found himself being to sorry for things.
"No worries like I said before I'm fine," she gave him a smile to put his nerves at ease,"just got a little scratch and a small rip there, nothing major. Hey, I won't even need a band-aid for this."
Who cares if a little blood spilled with some swelling. It will heal in time, and she can probably sow the rip up in shape. See this wasn't something Olette couldn't fix. As for the potion, she can always brew more, "I'll just tell the people who keeps it all tidy that I dropped some glass. I don't have keys or anything to get the brooms where they keep the struggle equipment, so don't worry so much."
"Also where'd you get that...thing, that rifle from? I don't remember those ever being sold here, and I don't remember if I've seen you before." She alluded to the conclusion: he's not from here.
"Oh okay," Netti said crossing his arms. The cut did look a bit painful on her, but she seemed independent, and strong-willed. So Netti figured she would be fine.
His rifle. He thought back. He remembered getting it from Home, back on Spira. They were there in bulk, because not many people like machina, but the Al Bhed still made them in large numbers, because they were helpful, which they really were.
"Oh this old thing," Netti said taking out his gun again.
"I got it from a place called home, they were there for a dime a dozen, not really it still costed me some money, but hey it's helpful to have in case of monsters like that heartless thing I just destroyed," Netti said with a chuckle.
"Yeah luckily I had it with me on my person when I was sent here, because those shops only sell a few smaller things," Netti said with a chuckle. Though they did sell potions, and other such items which was always good and helpful, and Netti found himself buying even smaller things like ice-cream from some shops from time to time.

"Did you said 'Home'?" For a place to buy that thing it sounded very primitive of a name for a formal location, town, city. This must be a foreigner thing, because there wasn't a place called Home here unlikes places where people see as a home, "So where is this Home? I suspect that's another world. And how did you get here?"
The more Lost that came to Twilight Town, Olette became more inquisitive and curious by nature. They had something she didn't, an adventure, even if some started or initiated with a sad story, the uprising of Heartless devouring their world. Although she had a twinge of envy for them, the brunette would never prey such mishap to occur in her own world. The ordeal was too frightening to imagine let alone wish for it to happen just to wake up somewhere new.
"Mhm," Netti said as the girl spoke at first. Maybe she was confused, because Home really wasn't the best named when you compare it to the other places in Spira. To the Al Bhed, the name fit just right. It was the only place most Al Bhed could consider a home seeing as how most of the Yevonites looked down on there race as Blasphemers. They weren't allowed in the temples, and were shunned everywhere else, except for on Blitz tournaments.
"Bingo, Home was located on a remote Island on my original world," Netti said starting to describe his old home. "The island itself was one giant desert it was a nice enough place, and all, and was kept relatively secluded from the Yevonites, but somehow they found it and we were forced to destroy it with our own missiles," Nettie said remembering back.
"It was really a sad day for all of us, but we were overrun," Netti said to the girl.
Then onto her next question. How did he get here. He remembered a foul darkness engulfed his planet, and by some grace he was saved.
"Well from what I remember a cloud of darkness engulfed the planet, and I woke up here," Netti said with a bad smile.
"Funny eh, well not really," Netti sighed and shook his forehead as he placed his hand on it.
"Hey what's your name, by the way?" Netti asked the girl realizing he didn't even know her name yet.

"Wow, that's unfortunate," she started, while she remembered other tales about the notorious escapades of the heartless. Now she felt a sense of hesitation; should she even ask about his world: what was it like, etc, when he was stripped away from him so violently? He didn't seem like he had a problem talking about it, but Olette refused to be pestering.
"My name is Olette. I don't have anything much elaborate to say, since I've lived here my whole life. It's been only recently had I noticed other Lost, I mean people who lost their worlds, and world hoppers coming here. Well there was a few like a year ago, but now it's becoming quite frequent."
She then looked up towards him with a small smile, "I hope you've managed to settle in Twilight Town, and the world's been nice to you. So where are you staying? I think I maaay no a few places that might take you in if you haven't already found a place."
"It is what it is," Netti said in response to Olette. It was true it was all in the past now, and there was nothing Netti could do to change it, same with the destruction of home. There was nothing that could change either of them, so why continue to mope about them. It was sad, but Netti could get over it.
"Oh Olette.. cool name," Netti said thinking for a moment, and then put on a fake frowny face at Olette.
"Don't say you don't have much to elaborate on," Netti said to her, "You've probably done multiple things that you could elaborate on if you thought about it."
Hm, the lost and hoppers. Weird names, but hey the Twilight Town denizens could name them what they wanted.
"Eh, well it may be troubling times for a lot of people," Netti said to the Olette.
He listened as Olette spoke again. He chuckled slightly. He liked to think he had a nice home, but in reality he found himself sleeping wherever he could find a lac to sleep. Sure the ground at times, was bumpy, but you get used to it.
Netti chuckled again before he spoke. "Well it depends on your definition of settled, though the Town has been very nice to me," Netti said with a smile.
"Currently I've been staying in random areas around Twilight Town, you know whatever area I feel like sleeping at I do," Netti said to Olette. He really didn't need a place, because he was used to this style of living now. It was somewhat similar to back at Home, but it was more structured there.
"It can be good, and it can be bad at times, but I've grown used to sleeping wherever, so it's all good really," Netti said with a small chuckle again. For some reason Netti was feeling happy, despite the weird black thing attack before, but there was really nothing wrong with being happy right.
