In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but the current way the Journals are set up seems really... clunky and ineffective. They're there primarily for archival purposes, right? So, with that logic, the current set up is detracting from rather than adding to the overall purpose behind these Journals. I'm just gonna make a list of my beefs and ideas or w/e.
First of all, there are a bunch of Journals on the board that are randomly pinned up, making them announcements - and considering most of those members aren't even around anymore, it seems odd and strange in terms of organization? idek what's going on there
Secondly, there's this odd little rule: "one journal per account." Yeah, I definitely don't follow that rule at all, nor do a lot of others, I've noticed. (The rule is located on the description of the sub board.) I definitely think it should be one thread per character, not account. While this might make linking to things a little bit more difficult, it is ultimately better because people can sift directly through to the character they want to know about - and it's especially good if the character's been given up and some new RPer wants to find their journal.
With that said, we could just make journals/relations under the same topic. Like, Merida's Journals and Relations would just be one thread, and same with Kuja's and Ren's and etc. Splitting them up seems weirdly counterproductive - indeed, from sifting through journals myself, I've noticed some people have already taken it upon themselves to include relations in their journals as well, making the relations board null and void.
Then, instead of the two boards involving journals being Journals and Relations, it could be Canon Journals and OC Journals. This would fit with the flow of the site, especially considering the Final Profiles area. (if we really wanted to take it to the next level of ease of access, we could make each list of Journals alphabetized and then require members to name their thread after their character, like "Merida's Journal" or "Jim's Log" or what have you. but eh i'm not expecting too many people to be fond of that idea.)
please tell me that this makes sense to some of you and that i'm not just talking crazy
I think that "one journal per account" or whatever rule is from the mod team before us... cause this is the first I'm hearing of it.
I'm guessing whoever put it up was attempting to prevent clutter or whatever.
But yeah, I cam get behind yer idea's Ren.
I've been meaning to cleaning up some of the boards. Updating guides/info/whatnot. Life needs to just stop first. Good god this week... ;~;
Edit: Okay, looking at those stickied journals... I'm pretty sure they're all old ones from ex-mods/stickied by mods. Looks like mousey will need to start doing spring cleaning sunday.

I mainly stickied journals of canons since people wanted to achieve having continuity if a character is passed down from one rper to another, but that can be debatable how 'necessary' it is now seeing how it's very loose here.
@ellie: Even if we're a little bit slowed down, I think it'd be wise to still have a certain amount of strictness. Perhaps the concept of Canon-continuity tracking can be achieved by having the journal links in the profiles. (I already do this as well, and find it an effective method).
@ren's concept: I like it. *Viking Street Sweeper Stamp of approval.*

Let me rephrase. When referring to continuity of canons, I'm mainly referring to those who are dropped left and right. I pinned those journals just in case someone wants to pick those canons up. And generally speaking most canons do not leave that big of an impression especially with the site's current going with the flow dynamic. So cleaning those current sticky journals and moving them to archive can be debatable because....typically most canons do not linger long or be involved in enough or big plots to keep note of.
However people keep up with their journals is there business, since it was more geared towards canon than anyone else. >> << To alphabetized... sounds like you'll be bumping threads until you have a proper order.
Sounds good to me. Yeah, I vaguely remember that rule, and it's been in place for ages. xD Not exactly regularly adhered to. I think its original intent was to keep the site neater, the archiving mods' jobs easier, plus make it simpler to link to journals in signatures. (Maybe I can hunt down a way to increase the character count for sigs, that may help too.) I say to each their own as far as how to organize their stuff. I've personally always put my character's relations in their journal thread.
I'll be around to help reorganize the boards into Canon and OC Threads rather than separate Journal/Relations boards if you're all on board with that. I'll help Mousey with her spring cleaning. xD My life's got a grip on me too as of late, but helping out on WD when I have the time has always been a nice way to relax. (:
I feel like there are some ways we can make it easier for people to track down canons' previous site histories. That may be a discussion for another thread?
