Haha, okay, so after my last thread - Journal System Updates? - there were a few mentions of doing some spring cleaning for the site, just re-organizing stuff and whatnot. I thought it'd be a good idea for everybody to get involved, get some stuff on the table and throw some ideas together to clean this place up and make it look nice and squeaky clean for spring!
First of all, there's already that thread I linked to at the beginning of this post, which is one. Zepho also mentioned:
I feel like there are some ways we can make it easier for people to track down canons' previous site histories. That may be a discussion for another thread?
mmhm this could be that thread.
But yeah I have a couple other ideas too. Namely an Activity Check. AKA the thing I've brought up in p much every single site discussion to date. Not gonna lie, I'm a really big fan of activity checks and they do help with the unnecessary clutter (I'm not a fan of the hundreds of stagnant accounts we have on this site, even if it makes us look like we have more members). I also would just think it'd be a good idea to make canons open again that inactive people have lost by now and what have you. And I know I say it all the time, but in reality, it's been nine months since the last one (which ended before I even came back!). So I don't think I'm jumping the gun when I say that I think spring cleaning should involve a cleaning out of accounts, characters, and profiles that are not active.
Other ideas from me include a skin change (I think it's about that time, considering the copyright date at the bottom of it still says 2011 and that was two years ago now... but then again I can't make skins and I'm not gonna force anybody who can to make one, especially if they're busy, haha), and the whole journal revamp I mentioned in that other thread.
We could make a list of ideas if you guys like, or we could just chat here and have an open discussion of what to do about the Xemnas auditions (who even auditioned for Xemnas? anybody??) and other stuff that makes sense to be talking about in this SPRING CLEANING thread.
So, yeah, all members should talk about stuff, bring up things, ask questions, yeah!! sitewide discussions are the best and I really like them and I think now is a prudent time to do another.
Okay, I want to unleash a little bit of the madness of my mind on World Destiny here, because out of all the possible locations, this is the only place I can see to place it.
We all know that World Destiny is an aging RP community. However, we can keep it alive, and I see the best ways for doing that being;
-First and foremost, a SITE WIDE PLOT update! I know Cadence has a thread for it, so people, get crackin' on your plans! I feel a little bit responsible for slowing the pace, and a little selfish really. I haven't caught up with the games, and while I have a reason (family tradition ; we have to go through it together, and lately we've had trouble getting further than 358/2 days, due to RL). And I know that I, for one, have been loud about "No spoilers guyz!" My apologies if I helped step on the brakes; I truly do love this site and its community, so much so that I'm willing to no longer be selfish. The Community has seemed to cater to the "let's not spoil the later games" mentality.
But here's the thing, without a serious plot update in accordance with the latest games (and with our own unique WD-ish twists, of course), we'll be stuck in the past, as previously mentioned. Yes, we all love the site, and I'm ready to spoil what needs to be spoiled if that means keeping the site alive. I'm ready to no longer be selfish and I will embrace what I don't know if it will help World Destiny keep kicking. If Nobodies and Heartless need to become their Somebodies again, I guess that's what we'll have to do, or find a creative way around it while keeping up with the important plot advancements that have taken hold from games past KH2.
-Next up, the advanced portion of WD's community have all transitioned into the College phase of life or have jobs. We're busy souls, who want to dedicate more time than we have readily available. We've got some knowledge, but we're lacking the muscle. This means we need young blood in positions to keep WD ACTIVELY moving forward. I would like to see the rest of the Staff be around for major decisions and the say-so to keep the old backbone of World Destiny, but we need people with more time to step up to the plate. With more people with more time available to dedicate to World Destiny (High School age?) we're looking at the grease for World Destiny's sticky wheels.
So, for a hierarchy, here's what I would love to see: Top of the Totem Pole: WORLD DESTINY'S BACK BONE / FOGEYS : (they approve site-plot type decisions, but can remain busy souls), Upper / Mid Totem Pole: WORLD DESTINY'S YOUNG BLOOD / GREASE : they would be responsible for coming up with more ideas, organization, and general site-maintenance / work to help World Destiny flourish. Their ideas would be essentially what moves World Destiny forward, in accordance with a majority-wins vote from the Council (Fogeys), THE PLAYERBASE: Self explanatory, thriving with new life and fresh ideas.
-Additionally, I think Profile Checks need to loosen the reins just a little. I am positive that if I had tried to apply for Era now, she would be rejected and required to change simply because our profile checking system is so rigorous, and she may have a few minor lore-flaws... but she's not game-breaking (and I strive to keep her that way, but I do maintain my "grandfathered" freedom).
We're keeping up with site lore as best we can, sure, but there's a point where being knit-picky deprives the RPers of their desire to RP here, and ultimately drives them somewhere where their creativity and characters can flourish. Yes, we can still stick to lore (preferably the advanced plot everyone knows we want/need), but there's a point I think we need to let minor flaws slide, and let people enjoy their characters, and if it doesn't break the game / RP, maybe loosen the reins a tad. I think this would help us maintain more interested / active members.
-I've been thinking, and definitely think we should establish a rule regarding site-plot threads involving multiple RPers (points a finger at Rising Storm). The rule could be something like: "if you don't post in two weeks, your turn for that posting round is skipped".
I know we're not supposed to have technical "rounds", but it seems also that we have people saying "I'll be posting here soon"... and that placeholder initiates a kind of an unspoken "hold up 'til they post" syndrome, methinks. And it would be good if we set a rule that made people comfortable moving forward over unfinished / placeholder posts.

>> << for profiles the only reins I see loosening is history, but I must say...if you can't make =3= a complex history...THEN PRETTY PLEASE...DONT! I know creativity is awesome, but as a checker...it's agonizing to fix a heavily flawed story when people are trying to do too much, and do the work of JK Rowling entire series within a day. Seriously rp peeps...the normal they are...the quicker they are approved. It takes less time for us to figure out if they can fit the game lore and not overpowered.
History is just always an p.i.t.a >> << because people aren't mentally at that point to fully handle the ideas they want.
<< >> actually for those plots...there are rounds. We've had plots that are "Anyone can post in any order just have it in by this date or we're skipping your arse." Personally I think that plot was screwed because more people piled in then what was intended, and then you were literally waiting for those slackers...
