In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Seemed like all the awkward words that went nowhere hadn't managed to sour the mood, the man still willing to give his thanks. Marmadue nodded, both to confirm his name to the man he had healed when he asked for confirmation, and to agree that they really were going to have to help each other here. After all, if these people were anything like him… Well, there wasn't much they had left. "Ah… Yes. Try to, ah, take care, sir," the Yuke wished the man as the two separated their hands, his own falling down to his side as the other man started to leave and… Well, go back to do whatever it was he did with the others.
For a moment, he continued watching the man's retreat, his helmet pointing ahead of him in the right direction. Avari's voice caused him to look back down to his side. She… Certainly seemed to be happy. And he was too. After all, the Yuke did know how it could be difficult living with other creatures and find something in common – now add to that the fact that he didn't even know these creatures and they had no idea what he was, either!
"You… Think so? Perhaps you are right," Marmadue mused, tilting his head ever-so-slightly. Yes… Injuries seemed like they could be quite common. He could be useful like that. One of his hands rose to gently rub the cool, metallic surface of his helmet's cheek, almost looking like he was lost in thought for a while as he considered Avari's offer. "Ah, yes… I-I believe that would help, miss. To ah, have a start at trying to find some lodgings here," he nodded before adding, "I'll be fine, yes. But, if you don't mind me asking… What is it that you are training for?"
((Yeah! Feel free to add him in a thread when you feel like he fits in. I'll just roll along. He's hard to miss!))

Avari offered a curt nod and a reassuring smile as she turned and started leading the way towards some buildings that she knew were vacant and contained some form of bedding Marmadue could make use of. As he asked about why she was training, she glanced back over her shoulder with a curious look on her face, "I'm training to fight the heartless of course, what else?" She paused, brightening up again, "I have this charm that lets me use fire magic, but I'm not so great at it yet; I need more practice. Otherwise, I'll be in trouble the next time I run into those heartless by myself."
They neared what appeared to be an old shop front with broken windows and a door that hung slightly off one of its hinges and was currently swung ajar on the one hinge that remained intact. "I don't think anyone's using this space right now, and I remember seeing some sheets somewhere in here." She stepped in pushing the door out of her way during the process, and she headed towards the back of the old shop where the service counter was, covered in dust and other debris. On the back wall just behind that was quite a bit of shelving, some collapsed, but some folded up fabric, not exactly built for warmth, but with all the refugees that currently lived in Twilight Town, there weren't a lot of good blankets to go around. She handed what she could gather here to Marmadue, and then continued through a doorway behind the counter.
The back door lead into the shop storeroom, though anything valuable here had already been picked through, leaving nothing but junk, dust, and cobwebs. On the other end of the room, however, was a stairway leading straight up to another door. "There's a room you can use up there. The shopkeeper that owned the place used to live up there, but there hasn't really been much need for shops lately; he must have moved out or something." She approached the bottom of the stairs and then gestured for Marmadue to go first, assuming he had followed her all the way back here.
Marmadue followed the girl, much like he had been doing this far – after all, she knew the town, he didn't. He would have been quite foolish to just leave and try to wander around himself, trying to find somewhere he could sleep in, well, relative safety. Many of the buildings around them were in rather bad shape and probably just as big of a danger as the Heartless were…
But the look Avari gave him when he asked about her training was an odd one, as if it was obvious to everyone and he should have known! He didn't, obviously, but he couldn't help but avert his gaze in his nervousness. Even when she replied, he… Didn't think it was that obvious. Understandable, yes, fighting the Heartless that threatened them. But… "Ah… You just, seem so young, miss," the Yuke's tone almost sounded oddly wistful, his hand rubbing the back of his neck. While he had no idea how creatures like Avari actually aged and whether or not she truly was young was difficult to say… But he certainly didn't like the idea of sending children to fight their battles!
Mentioning magic of course caught his attention as they made it to the building the girl led him towards, as rundown from the outside as everything else, but the structure seemed intact. On the list of important topics, however, the building had been pushed to the second place. "A charm of magic? …That sounds rather interesting. I would be much obliged if you could show it to me one day," Marmadue couldn't quite contain his curiosity, perhaps feeling more connected to Avari than he had before. They both had interest in magic, after all! And they both, well, were amateurs.
The inside of the building – and old store, one could assume from what as left of the décor. It was awfully dusty, like no one had been inside for ages… And why would they have? There was nothing of use left anywhere, the shelves empty except for some trash and empty jars. No food, no supplies – and perhaps it wasn't seen as such a great place to sleep either, considering how the door was almost coming off and the windows had been bashed in, some shards of glass still glistening on the floor nearby in the dim light.
Marmadue moved slowly, though not because he was looking where he stepped. Quite the opposite actually, his gaze wandering on the walls and the ceiling, unable to find much of interest. Which could have also been a good thing, as that meant he couldn't find signs of say, the roof about to cave in. Then again, he was no carpenter…
But he was still following the girl, even if it was a slower process. When she picked him some sheets to use, he quickly moved over to take the bundle of cloth with a thank you, deciding to stick closer to Avari from there on out as they continued their journey through the small shop. The storeroom seemed to be just as empty as the rest, the various barrels and boxes that were still in one piece seeming to have been opened and emptied of anything useful. There certainly was going to be a lot of cleanup involved, if this was to be his home. For some time. Hopefully not very long.
The Yuke understood why he had been brought here, however. Some stairs led up to a door, another room apparently, that would make for a suitable sleeping place as no one else had claimed it yet. At least, as far as Avari knew. The store certainly didn't seem like anyone had walked through it in a while, so perhaps that was true. As long as the original owner didn't come back, perhaps he could… Borrow it, for a while.
Looking at the girl, Marmadue nodded as he was given the chance to go up first to look at his new room. Walking past her, he placed a foot on the first step, then another. The wooden stairs creaked slightly, some cause for concern as the Yuke tried to figure out if they were going to hold his weight before he climbed so far up the fall would have actually hurt. While his build might have been lanky and not have much extra mass on it, he was still a rather tall creature – and with height came extra weight.
But luckily, it seemed like the stairs could handle him – for now. Moving the bundle of sheets from both arms to just one, Marmadue used his newly freed hand to grab onto the handrail as he climbed to the top, stopping just in front of the door. Trying out the handle, the door luckily wasn't locked – though it did take a bit of extra effort to get it open, the frame seeming to have become slightly warped and caused the door to hang up in places where it should not have.
The room was small. Clearly, the man who used to run the shop had not been a family man – though Marmadue tried to push the idea of family away from his surface thoughts for the moment, knowing that he currently lacked his own and could only wish that his father was fine. A small window let in some light from the outside, dust particles floating in the beam of cold light that poured in. There was… A bed. More like a frame of the bed, everything useful having been stripped away from it. There seemed to be a wooden chest of some type as well, but he guessed that it was just as empty. A table, a chair… And perhaps there used to be more in the barren room, but they no longer were there.
