Nightfall: Chapter 2
Two years after the events of Dream Drop Distance, the Darkness became so great that it swallowed the worlds, locking them away within its merciless abyss.
Twilight Town, now covered in eternal night, stands as one of last Sanctuaries of Light. It is where players begin their journey.
Ever resourceful, the Moogles have created a safe place for refugees. They have charged the Denizens of Light with finding Castle Oblivion: it holds a key to the puzzle of the lost worlds.
But within the dark shadows of the sanctuary world a powerful dark force still looms, waiting to strike. Each survivor must choose whether to go to Castle Oblivion or stay behind to protect the world from the dragon that lurks in the shadows.

[Not sure if you want others to be allowed in here, so I just made it for you at the moment, and we can open it up if you want.]
A dark portal opened up, allowing Jason to walk through and wander around the town of Olympus. It was a strange farming town. But it was quaint, and quiet. So Jason enjoyed it for that. He was hoping to find out why he was led here by his crystal ball, but he knew that he would soon find out that answer.
Moving about the town, Jason watched the people bustling and running around. They certainly seemed like they didn't have much time on their hands. And yet... here was Jason, one who was completely out of place, moving about like he had all the time in the world. The differences in moving caused Jason to have to dodge and weave around several people in order to escape bumping into one.
Eventually, he reached a fountain that seemed to be the calmest part of the town, and sat down. He pulled out a book and started to read it. It was in a completely different language then anyone this day in age would recognize, but it was a language that he had learned so long ago. This was certainly a different world then he was used to, but it was still nice in its own way...
Sturdy. Thick. Stylish. ...Bronze? Rook held his hand up to the sun, the bright glint reflecting off of the new single arm grieve he had traded for. He was amazed what watching a flock of sheep could get you in this World.
Looking back to the hustle of the crowds moving into the market place, he felt a pang of a memory he could just barely remember. His home back on Hollow Bastion had a marketplace like this once... it thrived like this. He remembered a man with a static-face he assumed was his father buying food and goods...
He winced once as he scanned the crowd. A faint echo in the air...something here was as out of place as he was. He marched forward, the opposite side of the fountain, and looked around. He was closer now, he could feel it... but not quite pinpoint it... Something familiar.
He raised his voice, just a notch higher thant he pitch of the surrounding commotion"Hello..?"

Commotion... people everywhere as they spoke amongst each other. Jason just appeared out of place in his silver clothes. Though he supposed that if anyone knew him, they would be able to recognize him easily.
However, when the sound of someone's voice appeared to be higher then the rest, Jason recognized it. He knew he had heard the voice before, but he couldn't figure out whose it was. Thinking back into his memory, Jason finally remembered the first time he had heard that voice...
Radiant Garden. Cid was speaking to Rook as they had just defeated some heartless. Jason had noticed one sneaking up on Rook and jumped down from the rooftop, defeating it. Jason had then said "It would be best to watch your back, even with a fellow ally beside you. My name is Jason." while also extending a hand to the two of them. Rook replied, "I grew up and survived here in the Hollow Bastion when it was teeming with more Heartless than living people, I can watch my own back, But its never a bad thing to have a hand lent to you. Call me Rook, Jason, it's a pleasure to meet you." before extending his own hand. While the introductions were pleasent, the rest of that day wasn't.
Rook... Rook had arrived in the town of Olympus. Looking around, he finally saw the boy that he had met at Radiant Garden that day. "Well well well... Long time no see, Rook. Remember me?" He said, walking up to him, wondering if Rook would remember who he was.
[Man... That thread was hard to find in order to get exact quotes... xD]
His eyes darted back and forth across the sea of faces. Maybe it was all just in his head...
"Well well well... "
Rook snapped to attention and turned to the voice, fist clenched just in case...before it eased, his eyebrows raising inseatd.
"Long time no see, Rook. Remember me?"
He nodded, giving a smile, "Jason. I sure do." He held out a hand.
In all honesty, the visions Jason showed him about the different vectors of his destiny had crossed his mind many times over during his other travels. All of them had come true, so far. One way or another, anyway.
However, it was Jason who had shown Rook that not every Nobody was evil. In fact, they seemed downright lost, moreso than anything. And he was flattered he was remembered.

With a smile that quickly faded, remembering that Rook knew he was a nobody, Jason said, holding out his hand "Good to see you again. How have things been going for you as of late?" He was pleased to see Rook after all this time. He hadn't been back to Radiant Garden since that day. Thinking about it reminded him about how Radiant Garden was his home, and how he needed to get back there. It was the only way he would have a shot at becoming human once again.
"Doing alright, so far. Been places, seen things, met people... gotta admit, I never thought Ii would see you again." He shook his hand and smiled. Memories of defying the Restoration Committee, fending off Heartless in Traverse Town, taking down the Darkside that resided in the Third District. That was a proud day for Rook, finally overcoming one of his most serious fears.
"So... what brings you to...where-...ever this place is?" He never bothered to ask for the names of the places he went. He just wanted to see them. Once and a while he would find a local with the time to chat with him. This was not the current case. He had arrived to this World, shopped for maybe 20 minutes, found his grieve, and run into his old guide. Didn't leave much room for casual chit-chat.

"And I to you, Rook. Destiny seems to guide us in several different ways. Perhaps this was for the better?" Jason said, the last being more to himself then Rook anyway. He had to admit, he was as glad as a nobody could be to see Rook there. But couldn't help but feel as sad as a nobody could be when it came down to remembering that day that they had met on Radiant Garden, and how Jason longed to go back to his home. But that was for worrying about on a different day.
"This place... is the town of Olympus. It's located on the world, Olympus Coliseum, home of Hercules, as well as the Greek gods, including Zeus and Hera, Hercules' father and mother, and Hades, Zeus' brother, God of the Underworld, and resident Villain of Olympus Coliseum. As usual, my crystal ball brought me here. It told me to come here as there was something here that required my presense. Perhaps your arrival is what brought me here?" He said, still wondering exactly what it was that caused his crystal ball to do what it did, and giving Rook a slight lesson on this world. Sometimes... it helped to have a friend who knew his way around the worlds.
Rook shook his head, deciding to inquire about the ball over the history lesson. Frankly, it was all just a bunch of nouns he didn't understand anyway. Zoos? Sounded like an imaginary animal as much as it did a God, in Rook's head. "You'd think for something so mystical it would be a bit more clear on the answers...Heck, maybe all it needed was for you and I to meet up again, I mean... let's face it, the odds of that happening, on all the Worlds, of all the places, and of all the people on them, you and I finding one another is slim-to-nonexistant."
He folded his arms, looking pensive for a moment. It couldn't have just been that, could it? Sure, Rook was "gifted" (not many could fire a concentrated element from their palms) but he was just a hapless wanderer, trying to make something of himself.
But... if that was it, if the ball had told Jason to come here and intercept him... perhaps his goals were already on their way to being accomplished.

Pulling out his crystal ball, Jason thought on it for a moment. "Ive been here for quite some time, following this crystal ball to the world I needed to go next. I've never really been able to figure out why it sends me to where it does. But it seems to tap into my mind, and then send me somewhere that my talents would be of the most help. It is certainly confusing, but it has led me well for the past... oh.... 700 years? How long have I had this crystal ball exactly..." He said, the last part being more to himself then Rook. It had served him well, but he wasn't entirely sure how it did what it did. But it was his life.... and it was the only thing he really had to hold onto.
Rook gave him a slack-jawed gawk. "700 years!?" Even to someone who was still learning things he should have figured out long ago, Rook could tell anyone that 700 years was nothing normal. Not by any stretch.
Rook frowned, almost doubting the tale. Jason looked about the same age as he did, "Where did you find it, anyways?"

Hearing Rook's surprise on the time he had the crystal ball, Jason remembered that he had never told Rook his full story before. "Seems I forgot... I might look roughly around 20 years old, I am actually well over 1000 years. That is one thing about a nobody... they don't age. I became a nobody over 1000 years ago at the age of 20, and thus have looked like I was 20 for over 1000 years now." He said, giving Rook the short story about his past. Sometimes he forgets how old he actually is. And yet... he still remembers memories from way back then.
He was then asked about the crystal ball. Looking at it some more, Jason said "I didn't actually find it. It was given to me by an old man... His name was Suntious. I'm not sure exactly what his deal was, but he gave me this. He said it will aid me in my quest, but I must follow it completely, and I must never allow for it to touch the ground. And for 700 years... it hasn't touched the ground once. I've almost dropped it, but I caught it before it dropped. I don't know what will happen if it does touch the ground, but it has helped me well throughout the years, and so I follow the instructions given to me by Suntious that day." He then pocketed the crystal ball and looked at Rook again, and waited for anything else to come.
He smiled, and held out his hand, open palmed, "Y'know? I have to admit I'm kind of shocked at all of the interesting things one can find in their travels..." With a glittering shimmer and an almost dark light, a giant keyshaped blade appeared his his hand, reds, whites, blacks and golds adorning it in a card-motif, the four suits of a card deck making up the blade.
The shimmering faded, and he displayed it proudly, turning it in his hand as the black heart at the end of its keychain clanked loudly against its own chain links.
"I didn't really know what to make of it at first, but turns out your crystal balls predictions started hitting some pegs." He lowered the weapon, holding it to his side, blade up and backwards as he re-engaged the conversation, "So... a thousand years, hm? I didn't think even the Darkness existed back then, let alone Nobodies..."

A keyblade? Rook was in possesion of a keyblade? How strange.... As this was said, Jason remembered what he said to Rook so long ago...
"Hmm... A world covered in palm trees and oceans... Thats gotta be Destiny Islands. A girl on that island in the middle of a storm... Hmm.. Then the girl from your past... Odd to hear about.... Probably even more odd to see... And a weapon with a keychain... Must be a keyblade, but the part about it shrouded in darkness probably means that it is becoming lost to the darkness... Hmm..."
So... Was this keyblade the one that Rook had seen that day? "I assume this keyblade is the one you saw in my crystal ball that day? How goes the other images that flashed in the crystal ball? The one of Destiny Islands and that of the girl from your past. Laurel, wasn't it?" He said, Curious to know the truth. "Oh... and the darkness back then was weak, but there. I was the only producer of nobodies, but none escaped my lab. So effectively, Ansem The Wise was the first producer of heartless and nobodies to the rest of the population." He added, remembering the rest of the converstation.
"I've been to Destiny Islands," Rook replied, "I arrived for the first time during the middle of a storm and took refufge on a small island... a girl there, Kairi... I helped her home through the rain that night. As for Laurel, she... kind of up and disappeared shortly after coming around again... I haven't seen her since."
He hung his head for a moment. Laurel. He was close to regretting how he had treated her. She was truly trying to make amends, hindsight would tell him, but he just couldn't get past his own memories long enough to give her a try. Hopefully it wouldn't be a regret he would shoulder for life.
He hoisted the Keyblade up again, giving it a stare before unsummoning it, his hand clasping around a handle that was not there anymore and dropped to his side. Sighing a bit he recouped into Jason's conversation, "Anyways, seems all of your visions came true in the end. Which still leaves us with what we're doing both finding ourselves together again, and why.

Jason smiled. He enjoyed how Rook said that they were his visions when ultimately, it was Rook who saw them. Jason just supplied the crystal ball, as well as allowing him to see through it. He figured he would bring this to Rook's attention. "These visions... They were not mine. If you recall, you were the one who looked into the crystal ball, not me. I asked you what you saw. It seemed after the keyblade was shown, you were frightened. You nearly caused me to drop the crystal ball trying to catch it. But these visions were yours, not mine." He said.
He then started to look into his crystal ball. Why had it brought him here to meet up with Rook? Was something wrong? Nothing was being shown to him at the current time, so Jason would have to relay that to Rook. "Seems we have not progressed far enough together for me to find out why I was called here with you. Though... I am sure that whatever it it, it will be made clear soon enough." He said, starting to pocket the crystal ball before thinking some more on the matter.
The visions... the images... they were produced by Rook before... Perhaps he would be able to determine what he is supposed to be doing at this time? Pulling it back out, Jason held it out to Rook and said "Why don't you give it a shot?"
