In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

I don't see how his response was rude (compared to others'). He does bring up a valid point.
I really don't see how Kefka factors into this. Who's playing him? What purpose does he hold? Why should everyone else in the world care? Do they know anything at all about him? Should they know?
It's another, in the loop, out of the loop things. Instead of forcefully telling them, "Hey, see so-and-so," interact with them, and divulge the information to them little by little. Let it come naturally like it does in conversation. No one knows everything naturally, so why be forced to read up on a subject they otherwise may not be involved in?
What Seph means is that, If you want to see an example of a secondary plot, go look at what Kefka is doing.
For those of you to lazy or unable to find the right thread, Kefka has taken over First District in Traverse Town. People are now massing to stop him. It's currently still in the PM'ing stage, but Leon (as Rude) should be created a thread (Any day now). A war council will be called, to plan an attack on, what is basically, a god. Or three gods in one body. Sitting in a magic pile of cardboard.
All Kefka is, is a player created event, that could conceivably alter something, as Kefka does have enough power to destroy a world.
And really, in just one thread, Kefka has done more than the Org XIII has in a long time. Ergo, not a canon character, and currently only affecting one world = sub/minor plot.
That as such, how would someone outside of the little circle, such a Rook, know what the reference meant? And it's not so much as being lazy. Rather "see: Kefka" being a very vague comment.
But now that it /has/ been explained, it is a good example of a sub-plot-thingy.
There's no need for this. We all need to be polite between one another.
As Lin said, it wasn't meant to be rude, simply that information pertaining to the topic should be posted in the topic, and not sought for. Also, it was an early morning post, which certainly didn't help matters.
Define too much power. Canon and world characters tend to get away with much more, because the games make them powerful. Sephiroth has a great deal of power. Likewise, any Org. XIII members. Sora, too. Kefka does because that is how he was written in Final Fantasy 6.
Tend to get away with more than destroying an entire world? Not that I've noticed.
Which all goes back to Aryn's previous idea of maintaining some form of rank-and-file when it comes to powers, and how to tone them down to non-rediculous levels.
When we're talking about Kefka, I'm assuming it's being said that he can destroy a World by his own means and power, not a stockpile of C-4 he has cached somewhere or the such. In which case, being that he isn't really a site-recognized villain and just a player character, that kind of thing is really quite over the top.
Not so much an Austin thing as a 'hey look, someone's doing something, let's run with it' thing. The PM's are a sort of in-character phone tree.
Anyway, moving on -- You mean like, stat sheets? We could probably work that, though anything we use would take some tweaking. It would be really nice to have a good way of telling someone's strength.
If someone is willing - and has time - to make a stat system work, it could clear up a lot. (No, I am not volunteering, I'd be awful at it.) Starting from scratch would be very difficult - I'd suggest basing off GURPS. It was made to be versatile.
The stat sheet is somethign I gave thought to a few days ago. Something like giving the ability to level your character.
Thing is, I think it would be altogether impossible to do individually, and one person might have to take charge of it as a staff job in order to prevent folks from ripping off a few numbers here or there.
Thing is, the way I rp, any situation can go anyway. Sometimes I set myself up for failure, sometimes I expect to come out ahead. I may have a wishful conclusion, but it rarely comes to pass. It's all a matter of how one person plays against another.
Giving out and keeping stats may take away a lot of that freedom for folks and how they play as well. You will know just by the numbers if someone is stronger/faster/smarter/etc. than you, and given that, some might say a "come-from-behind" or underdog victory might be impossible, improbable, or cheating altogether.
Individual stats would be a great idea, should we decide to enforce it. But it might cause just as many problems.
Well, I don't actually like the idea of stating everything. For the reasons you said, and because some of the powers are too subtle, or off the wall, to work well. Also, I feel like it makes it harder for new people.
It is a viable possibility. But no system of play is perfect, and would change the feel of the game immensely.
A stat sheet would make it harder for new people to join, and most would become discouraged trying to wade through the massive amounts of rules and regulations. (Except for those who do not read the rules in the first place, and they decide to put up awful profiles anyway. We're going to get those no matter what we do...)
When we're talking about Kefka, I'm assuming it's being said that he can destroy a World by his own means and power, not a stockpile of C-4 he has cached somewhere or the such. Besides, why are we arguing about people being overpowered? They all got accepted.
And what makes a "Site Recognized Villain"? Isn't that what being accepted is? Or do we say that, for example, my Tanner, or Serif's Lily, or even Rook's Rook, is not a "Site Recognized Hero"? Kefka has Cannonity over us...
((If you want to be safe from Super Nova, go live on Mars.))
Of course, there's an issue with using that attack to prove anything, in that the planets all magically reappear. Every time. So you kinda have to go by damage count, and I think Light of Judgment may be higher than Super Nova. At the least, he can rapid-fire LoJ.
Not sure what that has to do with anything, but there you go.

This is off-topic
But can a mod check on the links on the home page the Free & Plot Threads are linked to the General Character Information thread. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another off-topicer/suggestion
How would it be if we had a Character Plot/ Tree thread. I've seen it done on a rpg I play in Worlds of Disney.
The Character Plot is an section, where fellow characters can set up personal plots where other characters can sign-up to be involved in. Really I doubt anyone would know if a charry was doing a personal plot...unless told, shared, or avertised. It's almost like an RP with me thread, but more detailed with what the rper is looking for in a character's transition/drama/ blah blah blah...
I don't know how affective that would be here, but just throwing that out there.
The Character Tree just shows the relations with character and one another on the site. Who is who's friends, enemies, etc. to help everyone to buld up their own "secondary plots".
I'm well aware who Kefka is. And I'm not disputing what he can do in the game (some of which, like the Super-Nova, is created more for flash than logic). But the things he did were in Final Fantasy 6, not Kingdom Hearts. Did we ever see Sephiroth do any of the overpowered things he did near the tail end of FF7? Nay. This is a site built around numerous people trying to play one game. If one character can come around and start blowing up worlds, expecially one as important as Traverse Town, the game has become highly imbalanced.
Just because Kefka "can" does not mean he should.
And as for the stat sheets, yes it does continue to bring up more cons than pros. Some people use original characters more often than some use canon characters. If we were to instituse some kind of leveling/stat system, it would only be a matter of time before someone like, for example, Rook became stronger than, say, Xemnas. And I highly doubt Rook could hold a candle to The Superior.
Just my 2 cents, but on the argument of power, I've seen plenty of characters accepted that seem overpowered here, and as for Kefka, he's basically, as far as gameplay would be concerned, equal in power to Sephiroth, only whereas Sephiroth is more of a physical being, Kefka is more of a magical being. As such, even with Sephiroth's existence alone, I see no reason not to have Kefka, Garland/Chaos, or any number of Final Fantasy final bosses in the game, so long as the roleplayer applying is trustworthy enough. Perhaps those whom qualify as people who be allowed to RP as Sora would be allowed to RP as these final-boss types. I know I wouldn't trust just anyone to roleplay them properly.
Edit: I agree with Rook to a degree with what he said, which only reinforces my statement that only the best of the best on the site should be allowed to play as that type of character, due to the very real possibility of godmoding occurring. Even though Kefka and Sephiroth were both godlike, there were both defeated in the end, after all. We need someone who will keep that in mind and not abuse their power too much. Also, they should be toned down a wee bit for purposes of the KH version of them. After all, the KH version of Sephiroth is quite a bit different than the FF7 version of him when you fight him, both due to the differences in game mechanics and probably balancing issues, as well.
As for the character plot/subplot idea thingy that Elaeus mentioned, I think it'd be a good Idea. I'm not sure if you'd have them fill out a form or something with the subplot's name, general description of the subplot, and the desired number of players, or something of the like, but I think it's at least looking into.
Edit 2: I think that for stat systems, it should be done in a similar case to how I do it - if players wish to hold themselves to one, that's their decision, but if not then as long as certain guidelines are followed it should be fine.
So then, no stats so much as general guidelines and clearly defined limits on 'power-at-join'.
