In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

The café looked as though someone had been there. Recently. Though by all rights it should have been long closed, its likes out and its chairs stacked up neatly on the table, with how late it was. Yet the door was unlocked, snow was stamped out upon the doormat, the chairs left down and several cups and a pot of tea were set out on a table.
But no one was there.
If one took the time to look around, though, pinned down beneath a cup a hastily scribbled note can be found.
“Ran out to get something. Will be back shortly. - M. A. T.”
Upon further inspection there seems to be a small plate of snacks – cookies and crackers and crumpets and the like – neatly stacked on a plate.
Looks like there nothing else to do right now except wait for this M.A.T. fellow… and see if anyone else shows up.
(Thus starts the first posting round begins. This posting round will last a week and should primarily concern character’s entrances and mingling. You can mingle/post as much as you want until next Monday, when the next posting round will begin with a new prompt. And hopefully my net will be back up proper by then.

Jinyri stood in front of the door to the cafe, looking apprehensive. It was cold outside, sure- And everything was covered in all of this weird white stuff that she'd never seen before, since her home didn't have any seasons except for Summer. But she still didn't want to just barge into this place. It was late, and she was certain that even though the lights were on, it was closed. She stood there for a moment, feeling unsure of herself. But her outfit wasn't made for this weather, so it didn't take long for her to decide to go in. She walked up to the door and stamped her feet off, not wanting to get any of the cold white powder in the cafe, then placed her hand upon the doorknob and turned it slowly. To her surprise, it was unlocked!
Slightly anxious, Jin opened the door and peered into the cafe meekly. It was completely empty, which was sort of weird, considering that there was a pot of tea and a bunch of cups. There were snacks too, and delicious looking ones at that! She stepped inside, closing the door slowly behind her. It kind of looked like there was supposed to be some sort of party going on, but Jin wondered where the people were. "Uh... Hello?" She called out, with silence as her answer. Nobody was there, it seemed. The girl inspected the room, but finally decided to help herself to a bit of tea and cookies. While it was rude to eat something without anyone giving you permission to, Jinyri was too hungry to care. She'd just woken up in some weird town, completely clueless as to what had even happened, or what was even going on. She was gonna help herself to some cookies, and nobody was gonna stop her!
At least, for now, since she was the only person in the cafe. Jinyri pulled out one of the chairs at the table with the tea and the snacks on it and sat down, feeling a bit awkward. What if somebody came in and asked her what she was doing here? She pushed the thought out of her mind with a shake of her head. "I'm turning into Marno, pretty soon, I'm gonna be worrying about everything, and that sure wouldn't be any fun at all..." She thought, furrowing her eyebrows and grabbing a cookie indignantly. There was nobody there to see her show of defiance, but she didn't mind. Jinyri just didn't want to be like her sister, was all. Marno would've waited until someone came and told her it was okay to eat a cookie, but not Jin. Despite her sister's teachings, she lived by her emotions... And her stomach too, for the moment.
As she stuffed the cookie into her mouth in a way that could only be described as highly unladylike, she noticed something a little strange underneath the teacup in front of her. Jin finished her cookie and picked up the teacup, taking a couple of seconds to read the note. As she did, her eyes went wide and she had a look of panic. What if whoever had set the cookies and the tea out came back and was mad at her? She wiped the crumbs from her mouth and frowned, then sighed. She didn't mind, if they got mad at her, she'd just explain what had happened, and maybe they wouldn't be mad? She settled into her seat, poured herself a cup of tea, and then grabbed another cookie and took a big bite out of it, chewed, swallowed, then finished the tiny sliver that was left just as quickly. She was still hungry, but she didn't want to take any more of the yummy looking snacks. The cookies were great and all, but she really wanted some fish right now. Fish made everything better, in her opinion. That, and she figured that she probably shouldn't eat all of the snacks.
Jinyri took a sip of her tea and eyed the note once more. It looked like it was written quickly; this M.A.T. person must've been in quite a hurry. Absentmindedly, she slipped a hand into her pocket and took out a bag of stones and set it out on the table. Putting her tea down, she opened the bag and started fishing for Marno's pendant. Sometimes, Jinyri liked to think it was her good luck charm. At the moment, she thought that maybe if she held it in her hand and kept it close, she might get a couple of answers, like maybe how to get back home or something.

Jim stumped through the snow, huddled up in a ratty old black coat, trekking the familiar path to the old cafe he liked to frequent (he had once fixed their sink, so they sold him things at half price, which was nice, though he would have preferred some actual compensation). He was still staying in that awful old inn in the Second District - the one where he had a sneaking suspicion that the innkeeper pitied him and his young age and probably thought him an orphan. (That, more than likely, was the reason he hadn't been kicked out yet. Also, he occasionally tended to various chores around the inn as gratitude, which the innkeeper appreciated.)
He knew he wasn't an orphan - not quite. He was fairly certain Montressor wasn't gone yet, and if the map was right, Treasure Planet hadn't even vanished, though it'd been the brunt of the attack. In all honesty, his way of getting to Traverse Town had been an anomaly compared to the stories he heard around town when he was shopping and doing various odd jobs. But that was a story for another time, and for now, he was stuck in this backwater galaxy that had little to no space travel.
To say he was moody would be a gross understatement. After all, he was still a kid. And he missed his mom; she was probably starting to get really worried, as the Legacy was due in Crescentia around this time, and there was still no sign of it. As far as he knew, there probably wouldn't be. And, in his singular existence out in this frozen spit of space, his blood still hadn't quite cooled from the Betrayal. (Yeah, he said it with caps in his head.)
But even with all this to keep him unhappy, he'd managed to occupy himself with tedious work. Working made him happy. Sitting in the silence of the inn did not. So, though he had his suspicions, he was heading to the place that the sign on the billboard had offered for him precisely a week ago. To be honest, he had no idea what to expect, or who this M.A.T. person could be - but, apparently he'd be compensated, and that's all he needed.
Jim walked through the door to find the cafe empty - well, nearly. Upon a quick inspection, there was a single occupant as of yet - a girl, stuffing her face at a properly-set snack table. Half a smile floated across his face before it settled back into its usual angsty demeanor. He walked in cautiously, his eyes scouring every dark corner, but making sure to meander over to the snack table. Hey, food wasn't exactly easy to come by - especially free food. As far as he was concerned, this girl had the right intentions.
He thought maybe she could be M.A.T. - after all, what with the Captain and his own asskicking mom, girls could be whomever they wanted in his mind - but she seemed... too young for the sort of writing that had been on the billboard. Still, it was best not to make assumptions. Grumpy and cautious as he was, Jim did have a certain politeness. So he grabbed a chair from one of the stacks and propped it up at the table, offering her a slight, semi-friendly smile. She had the look of a fish out of water, of a Mon Calamari away from Dac, of a newbie; he could sympathize.
"So, you here for the meeting, too?" As he spoke, Jim reached out to pour himself a cup of tea - he rather liked tea, it reminded him of his mom, who loved the stuff - and nab a cookie from the already partly-demolished stack of them. A note caught his eye, one that the girl across from him had obviously been reading, considering its close proximity to her. She was preoccupied with a bag of rocks (huh? rocks? seriously, though he was used to aliens, sometimes people were downright strange) so he figured she wouldn't mind if he snatched up the note, which he promptly did.
Reading it brought a groan from him. "Ugh. How long we gotta wait for this guy?" The remark was humorous, yet dry; he rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair, and took a sip of the tea. He swallowed, and then paused briefly. "Uh. I mean, person." He shrugged. Could be a girl for all I know.
One couldn't grow tired with this dayless world. Well, at least not Yoru. One week was not enough for him, as he believed he could stay here forever and still feel this happiness every single night. "In one week I saw this dark sky more often than in my entire life...", the man chuckled while walking towards that place called Cafe.
He spent that week in the care of an old gentle lady. She was very kind to accept him even though he didn't know how to explain her from whence he came. To her the man was merely one more lost soul in these harsh times. He asked many questions while she patiently answered them. Now he knows what are these white fluffy things! And even all these strange buildings! And he knows that a 'Cafe' is where people go to talk. But the old lady refrained from asking him anything about his past like if it didn't concerned her. It probably did not and he felt grateful. How would he mention Luxord and the 'Gummi Shop'?
Following instructions he found a closed building with snow stamped out upon the doormat. He didn't hear any noise from inside. Nobody? Nonetheless, he entered.
From the entrance while closing the door he managed to look at the persons inside. Two of them: a boy and a girl, both smelling like children to him. "What? Was that sign a prank?", he couldn't help the thought. His face denounced the impending disappointment only for a brief second. Without saying anything he sat on a chair avoiding eye contact with the children while fooling himself that they are here for a completely different reason. So hypocrite! He wasn't hungry, so the food didn't catch his attention.
Jinyri heard the door open and looked up, with another cookie in her mouth. They’d been so delicious, she just couldn’t stop herself from taking a third one. For a moment, she thought this guy was M.A.T., but she kind of doubted it. Because of how properly the table was set, she pictured this M.A.T. person as a mustachioed old man with a spiffy tux and a fancy cane. A curly mustachioed old man. From beneath a fluffy veil of hair, she watched the guy make his way towards her table. She wondered why for a second, then mentally facepalmed. Well, duh, the cookies were to die for! He seemed kind of on edge though, what with the way he walked over.
She looked back down at her bag and started rifling around in it again. Where in the world was Marno's stupid paw print? That thing was big and clunky, surely it shouldn't have been so hard to find. Slightly frazzled, she looked up again as the boy sat down. In response to his smile, she gave a goofy grin before pawing through her rocks again. His question made her pause for a second though, a look of confusion crossing her face. "Uh.. Nope, I just kind of popped in here, y'know?" She said, laughing awkwardly. So it wasn't a party, it was a meeting... Well, gosh, now she felt kind of bad about eating so many cookies. Those had been snacks for people so they wouldn't get bored, clearly!
But she silenced her regret by taking yet another cookie, because honestly, she just couldn't stop. How many cookies had she had now? Four? Well, that was okay, maybe nobody would know. Jin munched on the cookie, setting her rocks aside for now. Hearing the boy groan, she looked over at him, puzzled, but then she grinned. "Aw, jeez, well.. The note said he'd be right back, and people who set tables like this are either fashionably late or perfectly punctual, according to my Ma'am!" She exclaimed, though she was really just joking. "Hopefully not too long though, or else I might eat all of the cookies..."
As the girl trailed off, another person came into the cafe, and she turned her gaze to him. She saw something that seemed like disappointment cross the man's face, but she didn't realize what it was. As the man sat in a chair at their table, she tilted her head. He seemed kind of stand offish, what with the way he was avoiding eye contact, so she just took a sip of her tea and shrugged. Sometimes people just didn't want to talk, she understood that. Her dad was like that quite often, actually, though he was just kind of the type of guy who preferred actions over words.
But just because she understood didn't mean that should wouldn't try. "Mister, are you okay?" She asked in a curious tone, tilting her head the other way. It wasn't that he didn't seem well, Jinyri just thought that showing concern was a good plan to see if the new person would talk to them. Since he was avoiding eye contact, maybe he was shy? It didn't occur to her that he was doing it just because they were younger. Where she came from, everyone was friendly. Well, except for Marno, but that was probably just because siblings had a tendency to fight.
OOC: Since Ren is away I'll screw up the order of posting u_u
Sometimes people take actions only to repent in the future. Those infamous situations when the brain seems to cease it's functionality thus creating uncomfortable memories entirely free to make you mock yourself. Maybe a little exaggerated, nonetheless Yoru felt that way.
Well, obviously he didn't noticed that the instant he confirmed his breathing and heart beating, unconsciously he felt pride of surviving! Not his fault, who wouldn't? He passed the trial, he was a full fledged man. What men do? Among some important things, they underestimate children. Suddenly all the memories about their feelings when younger seems to fade and is replaced to some basic thoughts, like; "When you grow up you'll understand" or "You're too young to try that!". Yoru already was caught by that, poor man.
Either way, still not realizing anything, he felt embarrassed with the girl question. "What am I doing?", was his thoughts. The man smiled to her and answered with pleasure.
"Not at all, little lady! I'm fine, just a little tired."
Friendly, but still distant. Maybe that's just how he was on a completely strange place with unknown people. He loosened the grip of his Rigonlay (his 'sheatless' weapon carefully hidden behind the chair; he didn't want to scare anybody!) and turned himself to the duo.
(Will update this tomorrow with a proper post. Just posting to let everyone know that if you are still interested in joining... well, you can always enter late. ;D)
A light jingle of bells and a sudden gust of wind announced a fourth presence in the small café. Zephyr stood at the threshold, door ajar as narrowed eyes scanned the room. She had come from the Moogles' Synthesis Shop, the only forge in town she had been able to find, and the only one that had given her work. With a week's time to dawdle since she had first encountered the announcement for this meeting, Zephyr had spent the majority of the time working in the forge owned by the strange creatures she had come to know as "moogles". They reminded her of her Guardians, as animalistic as they were, with the added bonus of being able to comprehend and speak the Common Tongue. It had shocked her, at first, thinking she was going mad or dreaming. Shock gave way to delight, and she found herself spending most of her time in their company. They seemed to enjoy hers, too, listening to her speak of her world and her Guardians. When she had mentioned searching for a forge and continuing her apprenticeship, they were quick to offer their teachings, and Zephyr quick to accept.
Their methods were different, and the young Aeristocrat was still learning the oddity of their ways, spending more time smelting gems and shards into potions and bangles than actual forging of weapons and tools, but she was finding her niche, and that was all she cared for. It felt good to be back hammering on an anvil.
On the night of the arranged meeting, Zephyr had tarried too long. It was late when she departed, and as such there had been no time to clean herself up. Soot and grime marked her body, and while it had been hot in the forge she was wont to discard her new attire for her more casual wear. Such as well, standing in the café with her legs bared and her jacket donned in haste, unzipped and the neckline sitting beneath her winged appendages, the wintry chill was for once welcomed, cooling her sweat soaked body from the intensity of the forge fires.
That was until another gust of wind blew through the room. With a shiver, the young Aeristocrat turned and shut the door, her veils fluttering in the unwelcome breeze. Turning her attention back to the café, she continued her scan, though with less keenness than before. In her quick look, she had recognized the small gathering at one of the tables, but while she had gained all their attention none of them seemed interested enough to be the one that had called them together. Neither, she determined, that Nyra had made an appearance, else Zephyr was sure the spritely girl would have shouted an introduction and called her over.
Moving through the empty chairs, Zephyr took a seat away from the small group, deeming their table too crowded for her tastes. Discarding her gloves on the table and hanging her jacket against the chair's back, she sat with arms and legs crossed, suppressing the discomfort and anxiety of meeting new faces. She wished Nyra was already here, or that they had planned to arrive together. She could feel their eyes on her and she could not ignore the way her shoulder blades crawled beneath her skin. Zephyr didn't know why she had thought this a good idea. If Nyra had never caught her at that billing board, she wouldn't have had to deal with this.
In a fit of suppressed energy, her good wing shook, rustling her feathers while her broken one remained lame in its bandages. Glancing between the group and the door, Zephyr waiting with a good degree of impatience for the meeting to start.
Once again, the bell on the door rang, and in walked the Wandering Prince, shedding the jacket he wore to fend off the cold. He had been brought e on a billboard, and because he had sought a purpose. It seemed promising, so he had decided to attend. He had spent most the day hunting down Heartless for munny, but had soon had to retreat, due to the cold.
As he looked around, he saw, for the most part, unfamiliar faces, which didn't surprise him a bit. However, what did surprise him was that Zephyr was there, and he smiled to himself before walking to the food, taking one, and seeing the note.
Well, it looked as if he was early. With a small shrug, he walked over to the table where Zephyr sat, joining her with a light smile and a nod.
Nyra entered for food, to be honest. Her stomach had been a vocal protestor all morning; she figured it was about time to pay it some attention. Besides, it was cold outside. And she had spotted Zephyr. And, she supposed, there was some kind of meeting in her she was supposed to be attending, but lately (primarily due to her frightful lack of munny) Nyra found her curiosity less compelling than her hunger.
Not to her surprise, she was late. A few odd people were already milling around one counter, pouring tea and chatting quietly. She read the note quickly, not so much interested in it as the cookies and other snacks piled beside it. After she'd grabbed a suitable handful, she made her way through the people, exchanging the curious look or two amiably as she approached Zephyr's lone seat.
Leo beat her to it. Nyra scraped back the chair across from him, closest of the trio to the others in the cafe.
"So," Nyra asked. "Any of these M.A.T?"
She looked around. There were two who looked slightly younger than her - a boy drinking tea and rolling his eyes at something, the girl also with tea but with an air of the hopelessly lost. There was another unfamiliar guy that looked more her age, dressed likewise in dark colors. Neither looked quite like what she imagined this M.A.T. to be like. Not that, if asked, she'd be able to explain what exactly she did picture him as.
Nyra looked back to Leo and Zephyr. She shrugged, flashing a quick smile. If this mysteriously initialed guy wasn't here yet, she supposed there was no reason to apologize for being late.
It was a few minutes after Nyra had entered that the door to the café swung open again, the door’s bell jingling lightly announcing another’s arrival. A second, softer chiming of a bell could be heard alongside it.
Swiftly he slipped through the threshold and shut it with a snap, quickly and sharply to keep out the winter chill. Back turned to the room, he took a moment to stamp the snow off of his boots and shake the crisp white flakes from the sleeves of his violet coat and his unkempt, auburn hair. It was only then did Malakai turn around, the bell around his neck tinkling with his every movement, and see that others were present in the room.
He gave them all a look of upmost surprise – the best he could manage with a face riddled with unsightly scars and one dull eye – and let out a small laugh.
“So someone did see the sign,” he said more to himself than to them, and let his one good eye sweep over the gathering, studying each of them carefully in turn.
They were… a mixed bag, he had to admit.
The first to grab his attention was the girl with the wings, a sight, of all the strange things he had seen in that Town already, he had yet to see; then the cat-boy near to her, the sight of his animal features bringing memories of a Viera to his mind. His gaze jumped to the girl with the dark hair tied back in a pony-tail, to the younger girl with the purplish hair – who also seemed to be in the process of eating all the cookies, to the boy sitting at the table with her, to lastly the older boy – rather, the thought, a young man – sitting apart from them. The last four human, and all six of them young. Much younger than himself.
Realizing he was quiet for a good while as he examined them, Malakai shook his head and smoothed out a crease in his coat. He gave them all a warm, kindly smile. With a face like his, though, that was difficult. “I apologize if I have left you all waiting too long,” he said, nodding to them apologetically. “I am Malakai. Malakai Ahlryk Tahl’Lymein.”
(Double-posting so you can see this easier, but for those worrying about a posting order, don't worry about it. Right now I'm calling a free for all - just don't go crazy. Posting orders will be used for other things. *ollies out*)
"Matt?" Zephyr asked in response to Nyra's question. Her eyes were wide and bright, and the Aeristocrat eased at the girl's voice, losing the scowl that had crept up at the notion that strangers had joined her table. She looked around herself, thinking, her gaze settling on the other occupied table. Who was Matt? Was he the one who organized the meeting? How did Nyra know his name and why didn't she? Her teeth grabbed her lower lip, her brow furrowing. Had she missed something? She hadn't quite read the billing ad, once she thought about it. This Matt character must have signed his name or something.
Deeming herself safe and unaccountable for anything, she pulled her eyes back to Nyra, lifting her brows and shrugging her shoulders. "Don't ask me."
Turning her attention to the third at their table, Zephyr narrowed her eyes. He looked familiar, his shape and colors recognizable, but she hadn't made the connection that it was Leo who had first joined her. She was too busy closing herself off to take notice. However, once his features came into focus, most noticeably the ears that sat atop his head and the tail that swished behind his chair, Zephyr found the rest of her anxiety melting away like the snow they had all brought in with them. "Leo?" she said, opening her arms and legs as a smile cracked her face. "What are you doing here?"
He was holding something—Nyra was, too—but what, she couldn't see. Scrooching her chair forward, she stared intently at his hands, then at Nyra's. Her brow furrowed, her mouth forming a pout. "You got cookies?" she asked, upset at this revelation and the fact that she herself was cookie-less. "Where—" she started, but was interrupted at the sound of a bell and a sudden chilly draft.
Pulling herself back into her chair, Zephyr's eyes went to the open door, recognizing the bulky figure that took up the threshold. She hesitated, waiting, wondering if it was Matt or someone else who had seen the billing board. She hoped it was the former, as she was getting a little antsy waiting around, but then she also hoped it was the latter, because if there were cookies to be acquired, she did not want to miss her opportunity. So she waited while he took his time to stand at the door, stamping his boots, brushing his coat, listening to the tintinnabulation of a little bell at his every move.
When he turned and laughed and mention the sign, Zephyr knew her chance had been lost. Averting her eyes to the floor, she bit her lip, trying to quell her disappointment. This man was Matt, there was no denying that. He was quiet for a time, obviously studying them all, and Zephyr's gaze rose to meet his face. He was too far away to see clearly even if she squinted, but she held her look, her vision slackening, losing focus as she stared past him.
His introduction caught her by surprise. So this wasn't Matt, but it was definitely someone who knew what was going on. Still, she wondered if they would wait for him to arrive, or if this Malakai would start the meeting without him. Regardless, with her hands grasping the table's edge, Zephyr leaned in to her group and asked surreptitiously, "Where did you get the cookies?"

People kept coming inside the Cafe. Well, not really sure about the "people": what about "It"? Certainly a man with ears and tail and a teenage bearing gorgeous pale white wings was not on his list of "people". People, by his definition, means an agglomerate of human beings standing together. Hence, "It".
Do not misunderstand: he definitely didn't mean harm or even prejudice. In fact the curious boy inside him ruffled with excitement. He couldn't stop simulating that one moment when he'll tell about all of this to the old women of his tribe. Their mind will definitely blow!
Although his mind went partying, his body stood strong emanating that "aura" of antisocial behavior. The poor man did not know how to open himself to these strange people (or "It"?), so his shield against social awkwardness was staying quiet on his own. Maybe they will socialize and he would gladly accept. Or maybe not. Who knows?
When something ringed beyond the door he felt uneasy. Someone clearly older than him laughed to himself babbling something that made Yoru understand who this M.A.T. was: Malakai Alryk Tal Lymein. "Stupid! M.A.T.L. would be correct!", the man though making fun of that strange name. Could he be trusted? No harm in seeing. Yoru simply stood there gazing at Malakai breaching the etiquette, as he did not introduce himself.
"Let us wait to see the reaction of 'It'", he murmured to himself.
"Yeah, MAT." Nyra watched Zephyr's confusion for a second. M - A - T was what she meant, of course, but with a grin Nyra just let it be.
It took the winged girl a few moments to realize Leo had joined them. Right. . . bad eyes, Nyra remembered. The thought of losing one of her senses always put Nyra slightly at unease, so she reached forward and impulsively took one of Leo's cookies from him. A distraction, of sorts. Or they just had looked good enough to steal, and the actual tray was too far away for her to put forth her own effort. . . especially now that a tall, rather imposing man had walked through the door. He wore an expression bordering surprise.
Nyra figured this is who they were waiting for. Her suspicions were confirmed as he looked about the motley crew, seeming to analyze through one eye whose color she couldn't make out from this distance (a sweep of hair covered the other). Vaguely, Nyra wondered what he thought of them. Who all had he expected to return his call after posting that note?
“I am Malakai. Malakai Ahlryk Tahl’Lymein.”
Well that's a mouthful. (Although she supposed she had come across worse during her last adventure - she never could end up pronouncing the Princess' full name, Kidagakash Nedakh.) Nyra nodded at him from back by their table, her curiosity rising. She almost didn't hear Zephyr ask for the cookie location, as intent as she was on observing the speaker. With a thumb she jabbed in the general direction she recalled the tray to be and replied quietly under her breath, "Hurry up, they've probably all been eaten by now."
Then she raised her voice and addressed the smiling man in the doorway. "So what's this about a task force, Malakai?"
