Position: Good (He’s a goddam Hero!). Axel is under service of the Pristis Institute, a foundation devoted to fight heartless and other kinds of threats in the universe, but mainly Traverse Town.
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Axel, in his normal form, is nothing more than a normal human. Nothing special, nothing powerful. His powers come from The Sharkblade, his weapon (See “Weapon/Items”), that makes him enter The Shark Mode. So, Axel’s powers truly come from a transformation.
The Shark Mode can be sustained for really long amounts of time, as it barely consumes any energy from Axel. However, the Shark Mode comes from the Sharkblade. So, if Axel is separated from the weapon, the Mode sustains itself for just a few minutes more (One or two posts), and then deactivates.
Also, Axel is not a Magic user, not a magic-affinity person. Therefore, he doesn’t use true magic. All his “spells” and power uses “Energy” instead of mana or MP, and the “spells” come from the Sharkblade, not Axel. This energy is the true, vital energy for Axel, in order to breath and live. Therefore, overusage of his powers often leaves Axel tired and can even bring the hero to unconsciousness. Death is rare because the system shutdown itself in case of low energy, but is theorically possible.
When in Shark Mode, his appearance changes to a full-costumed masked hero (See “Appearance”) and Axel recieves the following powers.
Weapon/Items:The Sharkblade: The core of Axel’s power, the Sharkblade is a transformation device, a power source and a weapon – all at the same time. It’s a powerful technological device, made by John Pristis for Axel. We have already studied The Sharkblade as a Power Source in the section above, so let’s study it as a weapon now. The Sharkblade is not a sword, despite it’s name. It’s more of a club or a staff of sorts. The grip of the weapon is surrounded by a hand protection, and the “blade” on the weapon is flat, but not sharp, and it’s “undulated”, “curvy”, like the waves of the sea, painted in light blue. A good way of describing the Sharkblade is comparing it with a keyblade, with a flat and undulated blade. The weapon damage is based on impact, acting like a club in combat. It’s a quick and easy to handle weapon.
Technically, anyone who grabs the Sharkblade can enter the Shark Mode.

Appearance: As Axel: Axel is quite the common man. He is not tall, but is not short, something arround 1,80m. He’s also not fat, nor thin, 70 kg, and brown eyes. Is a common, average person, and would be easily lost in a crowd. His hair, however, stand out: He’s redheaded, of an intense red, like fire or blood. In his human form, Axel is usually seen with a black open jacket with a blue T-shirt below it, black pants and black shoes.
As The Shark: With the sharkblade, Axel can transform into The Shark at any moment. In this mode, he appears as a costumed hero. He wears a full-body piece that covers from his neck to his ankles, of strong blue color. Above the blue piece, The Shark uses a basic armor composed of a chestplate and protection to legs, arms and crotch. These plates are painted grey, like a Shark’s skin. Finally, a helmet, hiding Axel’s identity, like tradition demands, it’s a blue helmet that ressembles a shark’s head, with the mouth open. Inside this “mouth” is the dark visor of the helmet, making it possible for Axel to see the outside, but impossible for the outside to see Axel. (See picture)
Personality:Axel’s main quallities as a person is his good humor, cheefulness, courage and kindness. He is a good person to have arround, usually joking and trying to get everyone’s moods high. He is the kind of person that tries to see the bright side of things. He’s a Hero, and knows that he must bring light to the world. In face of danger, he doesn’t retreat or gets coward, but faces it straight on. Of course, Axel is not a madman, and will not fight until the end in a hopeless battle, but he will not retreat until it’s safe – inoccent people safe and nothing to loose from the retreat.
His only motivation since he became The Shark is to protect and guard Traverse Town from all evil and threats. He have devoted himself to this goal, so no one would have to loose a precious person like he did. His main goal is to see Traverse Town free of all evil. When fighting, however, he is fair, usually giving the enemy a chance to give up.
Every hero, however, have it’s weaknesses and weak spots. Axel’s main one is the ghost of Hiro’s death. The loss of his brother still haunts him, and he tends to get depressive quickly when remembering the occasion. Also, Axel have one great weak point: Being a Hero. He always thinks on the victims first, himself second. He puts himself in danger to save other people, what can give the opening an enemy might need to finish the Hero off. Finally, Axel tends to get a bit too cocky for his own good, and is a bit of a show-off. Joking too much can give you troubles.
Original World: Traverse Town
Current World: Traverse Town. He is occasionally seen on other worlds, usually doing eraly recon missions for the Institute but mainly acts in Traverse Town.
History:Axel was a commom boy from Traverse Town. Born and raised in that hub world, Axel knew since child about the various worlds in the Universe, since wanderers and survivors from destroyed worlds were commom sight in Traverse Town. Axel had a mother and a father, as well as his most beloved family member: Hiro Orlando, his brother. Hiro was one year younger, and Axel always took upon himself the role of protector of his brother.
However, the two were curious, very active child, and in a dangerous world like Traverse Town, this usually ends the bad way. Axel and Hiro had the bad habit of exploring the hazardous Second District. Despite their parent's warning and worries, the two of them always found themselves returning to the dangerous parts of the city.
Then, it happened. Both kids were 8 years old. It was bound to happen. Hiro and Axel were found by Heartless and chased by the creatures. They ran away, trying to get away from the creatures. Axel managed to escape, but Hiro was not lucky enough. The younger boy stumbled and fell, and was attacked. Axel saw all that, but was too scared to stop running. The boy returned to the safety of the First District with tears in his eyes.
Axel was changed by that. He never went to the Second District again -he barely left his own house. The boy became extremely depressed in the first years, but eventually got over it - but never totally. Axel never forgot himself for running away. HE hated his cowardice, hated his weakness and, above everything, hated those dark creatures. To make things worse, his father was in a new job, and barely stayed home.
Finally, when the boy was 15, a strange person appeared by his house. The man introduced himself as John Pristis, and invited Axel for a walk. Axel didn't trust him at first, but followed after he said his father was dead and he had something important to tell Axel. While they strolled the First District, Pristis told that he was the head of the Pristis Institute, an organization dedicated to fighting heartless and protecting Traverse Town. Pristis revealed that Axel's father have been working with the institute since Hiro's death. However, he passed away in combat, and was entrusted to a important role in the institute. John went after Axel to put him in his father's place for the "Shark Project". John told Axel that it would help him fight the dark creatures, and Axel agreed without thinking twice.
Axel joined the Institute and was given the Sharkblade. The Pristis Institute was secretive, in order to prevent people who were not ready or powerful enough to help from getting into their way. The Sharkblade transformed Axel in The Shark, a powerful fighter made for the sole purpose of fighting off heartless. Axel began acting in Traverse Town immediatly, but in training pace, and the Shark's name started to get in the people's mouth, but is still mostly a urban legend in Traverse Town. Now 16, The Shark is ready to get into full action. At the same time, the Pristis Institute is thinking to move into other world's as well, since John Pristis discovered some Gummi Blocks and assembled a basic Gummi Ship. With the hero ready to go act in the whole galaxy, will Axel be strong enough to deal with the complications of being a Hero?
Role Playing Sample: It was night in Traverse Town. Even then, the city wasn’t asleep. Shops were open and people was talking in the streets of the First District. Everything seemed okay.
But it wasn’t, and the first sign of that was the figure in the second district. He was on the rooftop of a building, watching the city from the shadows. It was The Shark, the Hero from Traverse Town in a mission from the Institute. His hand rose, and he gently pushed a button on his blue, shark-like helmet.
“John, I’m here. Nothing unusual so far.” ”Head for the Third District, bzz”, John answered via communicator.
”Our contact said that there was a rampaging heartless there, of a special kind. You’re here to deal with it. Be quick and discrete. We don’t want to panic the normal people.”“Roger that”, the Shark answered. He jumped, and a small plataform of ice appeared below him, out of nowhere. The plataform rose to the skies, and the Shark hid in the clouds. From up there, the Hero had a privileged view. He soon located the target. It was a Heartless. Tall, imponent, looked like and walking giant armor. It was the Guard Armor, a powerfull heartless natural from Traverse Town. It was also Axel’s target on this mission.
”Found ya” said the boy, jumping from his platform. He fell, and fell, and fell, feeling the wind run close to his suit. The hero got a firmer grip of the Sharkblade, and kept falling.
Finally, the ground was close. Axel smiled behind the helmet.
”PUMP UP!”, he shouted, almost at the same time he was colliding with the ground. A cloud of dust and dirt covered the landing spot for a moment. When it fell, the Shark was there, standing, in battle stance and ready to face the enemy. Then, he deactivated Pump Up.
”I SAID DISCRETE!” shouted John in the comm.
The Shark chuckled.
”Bring it on”. The ruckus was able to draw the attention of the Guard Armor, that stared at The Shark. The heartless looked in confusion. The Shark didn’t wait, and advanced, striking the enemy on the ankle. The Guard Armor retreated, angry, and tried to punch the hero. Axel dodged with a quick backstep. The hero stepped on the Guard Armor’s arm, but that proved to be a bad idea, as the heartless punched him again with the other arm, catching the Shark off-guard. The Hero was hurled back by the strike until hitting a wall, bouncing back sightly.
”Damm you... WATER SLASH!” the Hero ordered, slashing the air. A blade of water was projected from the Sharkblade, hitting the Guard Armor in the chest. The heartless fell, his arms, legs, head and torso separating from each other.
”Hah, take that!”, he celebrated. However, each separated part of the heartless started floating in the air and acting on it’s own.
”Oh yeah... i forgot that.”.
”Axel!”, John called,
”his limbs are his most dangerous parts. I suggest you to take them out first.” ”Roger”, he said. The Hero entered fighting stance again, getting ready for Round 2...
The battle was long and hard-fought. In the end, however, the Shark prevailed.
”Now, that was fun!”, he said.
”Anything else?”.
”Nope. The Ship will catch you soon. Clean the mess the best you can and get the hell out of here.””Roger...”, he sighed. Anyways, that was kinda cool. And he was doing something good to the universe, and that made him happy. With this in mind, Axel waited for the Institute’s ship to come...
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? I hope there’s no problem with the “Pristis Foundation” xD. It was a cool thing i tought to give the character more meaning, as well as an excuse to be able to travel between worlds.
Also, sorry for gramatical errors and etc. I’m from Brazil, not native-english speaker, so... xD.
Third time I make a OC, the SECOND time I make The Shark on this RPG. Let’s see how much time I’ll keep playing this time XD.
