In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills:
The MP system. In battle, Hope begins with a total amount of MP at 20. Each spell he casts consumes a certain amount of MP. Once he runs out of MP, he can only deal physical damage to his opponent until the battle ends. After completing the battle, his MP is fully restored.

aerora!
Probably Hope's most preferable attack -- a blast of wind summoned to Hope's hand that has the ability to knock an opponent off of their feet, deals moderate damage. The spell has the ability to home in on an opponent, it consumes 3 MP.
blizzard!
Another one of Hope's favorites, blizzard casts a chunk of freezing cold ice at the target. It fires in a straight line, does minimal damage, and has a slight chance of "chilling" a target and slowing them down. It consumes 2 MP.
fira!
Fira has the ability to blast a single enemy, dealing moderate damage. It is, sadly, unable to follow an enemy, or move in any direction for that matter, than straight. Costs 3 MP.
thundaga shot!
Thundaga shot is incredibly handy for dealing with massive amounts of weaker enemies. From Hope's hand, a bolt of thunder is blasted at an enemy, dealing massive damage to the target it hits, and minor damage to surrounding targets (shocked). Costs 5 MP.
cura!
Certainly a lifesaver, cura is utilized when Hope is travelling with a group of allies. Cura has the ability to heal a small amount of vitality to all surrounding targets. Costs 4 MP.
curaga!
His most well-practiced spell, Hope uses Curaga to heal himself. It is, quite honestly, incredibly powerful because of his medical practice. Costs 4 MP.
seeker mine!
The seeker mine is used when Hope is trying to defend himself without actually having to try to defend himself if that made sense. The seeker mine immediately tracks down an enemy in range, stunning it if successful. The attack can be dodged, however, by quickly rolling out of the way. Costs 5 MP.
zero gravira!
A field of zero gravity is formed, rendering enemies defenseless. Not only do they receive damage from other attacks, but a minimal amount of continuous damage can be dealt. The continuous damage can last for a post, meaning the enemy will either break out of it early, or at the maximum length of time, be rendered useless until the end of their next post. Costs 3 MP.
Weapon/Items:
The Airwing - Despite Hope's obvious preference to use magic in combat, carrying a weapon is crucial in case something goes wrong. Since his first real adventure when he was merely fourteen, Hope has had the Airwing, a boomerang. Able to fold in half for easy transport and storage, the Airwing has sharpened edges that can slices through a thick branch at ease. The weapon, like Hope, is better utilized when at long range, and proves to be extremely ineffective in close quarters.
Picture:
Appearance:
If you see Hope on the street, the most notable characteristic you'll see is probably his silvery thin hair. As a child, he was always quite ashamed of his elderly-looking hair, but as time passed Hope found that he was more than fond of it. His hair is straighter, but has a messy look to it as well, but that comes with the length. Standing at about 5'11" and weighing in at about 165 lbs, Hope is average in height and a bit below average in weight. His eyes are an emerald green with silver specks throughout the iris, and his nose is straight as a ski-slope, which tells you that even with all of the intense fighting he went through, Hope has yet to break his nose severely!
On the average day, Hope wears a pretty stylish lab coat. It is, like all lab coats, white, however it does cut off at the waist to make it seem more casual. On each sleeve is a contrasting yellow stripe. The coat is collared as well, giving Hope the option to wear an aqua/baby-blue tie. On his wrist, a yellow wristband similar to the one he wore as a kid to cover his l'Cie brand, which, in case you were wondering, is still there. No, he isn't a l'Cie on the clock of a Focus, but the tattoo serves as a reminder to make his own choices and mistakes, to be independent. To coordinate with his white/yellow coat, Hope wears a pair of gray pants that are more closely fitted to his body than the average pair of slacks. Around his waist is some variant of a utility belt -- several pockets and latches for several uses make it useful, and a strap goes over one shoulder to make it double as a backpack. Its dark leather material makes it incredibly durable. Finally, Hope wears a pair of black boots that come up half of his shins.
Personality:
Hope, throughout the years, has shown himself to be the epitome of evolution. As a youngster, he was naive, afraid, dependent, and overly emotional. But you know what Kelly Clarkson says: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And that was exactly what happened as every fiber of Hope's being was put into question at the mere age of fourteen. Now, in a few words, one would describe Hope as eager, confident, quick witted, and a natural leader.
Let's go into specifics here -- Hope is bright. Quite frankly, his natural intelligence and impressive IQ make him lethal when it comes to, well, thinking. Not to mention his time with the Academy was time well spent; Hope was getting to be more and more mentally able with facts involving science, philosophy, you name it. And its not like he is a savant or one of those socially awkward geniuses, but Hope is creative and likeable as well. That's why people see him as a leader! Which acts as a segway into our next section..
Hope has proven to be a natural born leader. Maybe it's because of his ability to express himself so easily, or those smashing good looks he charms people with, but people generally feel safe with him. Safe following him, that is. Well, it's probably because of the way he so thoroughly thinks things through. Hope is a bit of a planner, but there isn't a thing wrong with that! But, he also knows when its time to follow your gut and call an audible.
Don't you dare think Hope is perfect. In fact, he has quite a few flaws that he is ashamed of -- actually, that right there is one of his flaws. He can be a bit insecure, but he hides it pretty well, like a bad habit. Hope, for one, is incredibly emotional, even at his age. When he was young he watched his mother die, not to mention saw as some of his closest friends died/cystallized. This kind of background has left him extremely susceptible to mood swings, angry outbursts, and even crying sometimes, since he's been through so much and his life has, quite simply, sucked. Plus, these rampant emotions have a way of making their way into his decisions. He can be spiteful, impulsive, like some kind of teenage girl.
Original World: Hope was born in Palumpolum, a metropolis located on the coast of Cocoon, which is located on the planet Pulse. Current World: Though he is roaming the Kingdom Hearts worlds, Hope has "set up" in Wonderland.
Movie/Video Game(s): Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XII-2
History:
SPOILERS ARE A'COMIN
Thirteen years ago, a young Hope Estheim found himself and his mother, Nora, on a train to the Hanging Edge, caught in the middle of the infamous Purge made by the even more infamous Sanctum, a military group led by the fal'Cies Barthandelus and Eden. When a rebellion erupted, led by Snow Villiers, the new rebels began fighting the Sanctum to stop the Purge and save their lives. As the true soldiers of the pedestrians began to strap up for battle, Nora took a gun and began to fight as well, leaving her son to fend for himself with a young girl named Vanille. He was so weak, so naive, but Hope didn't know what to do with himself when he watched as his mother was tragically killed when the Sanctum completely detonated the bridge she stood on. Hope watched as Snow Villiers let her fall, and vowed to get revenge for his mother. Hope stuck with Vanille and the two of them followed Snow in order to confront him until they met up with Sazh Katzroy, Lightning Farron, and Snow himself. Standing in the Pulse Vestige, Hope gets branded as a Pulse l'Cie along with the rest of them.
Hope, still angry and unable to confront Snow, lashes out at them for even getting him involved as he begins to walk along the crystallized ground that was the great Lake Bresha. They discovered that they did, in fact, have a Focus, and though it was a bit foggy, they figured they should work together to solve it. The group found an old airship, and after trying to fly it, they crash landed into the Vile Peaks. After a bit of a scuffle, Hope found himself following the renegade Lightning, who had the goal of dodging PSICOM. She later abandoned him, and he was rescued by Vanille and Sazh. Giving himself the goal of getting stronger, he again followed Lightning and helped save her life, creating some loyalty between them.
The duo travelled all the way to Hope's hometown, Palumpolum, only to be caught by PSICOM. However, before their execution, Snow Villiers and Oerba Yun Fang quickly came to their rescue, and after splitting up again, Hope found himself alone with Snow. During his trek with Lightning, Hope marinaded in his remorse toward Snow, and by the time the two were teamed together, his need for vengeance had reached an all-time high. As they made their way to Hope's house, Snow continued to aggravate the youngster and as a result, Hope attempted to kill his partner, only to be attacked by PSICOM and launched over the edge of a high-standing building together.
Much to Hope's surprise, Snow absorbed the fall for him, taking the majority of the damage, and the two of them quickly bonded because of it, completely ending any tension between them. After meeting up with Lightning and Fang, the group made it to Hope's house and Hope broke the news to his no nonsense father, who accepted Hope's fate as a l'Cie as well as his wife's death. Only a few hours later, however, PSICOM attacked once again, and the four of them were saved by a speech by Snow and a large group of army troops and rebellious PSICOM soldiers. A friend of Fang's, who was in the military at the time, took the group aboard his airship and gave them a bit of time to step back and gather themselves. As they rested, a newscast reported that Sazh and Vanille, two "dangerous" l'Cie, had been captured and held captive on the Palamecia, the PSICOM flagship.
In order to help them they knew that they had to go board the ship, so Hope and the others did just that. After fighting through quite a few soldiers and meeting up with Vanille and Sazh, whom had escaped, they came across Primark Dysley, the man running Cocoon. As it turns out, he is the disguise of the fal'Cie Barthandelus. A fight ensued and Barthandelus was somehow defeated by Hope and the rest of the l'Cie. Barthandelus, however, returned to his human form and told them that after they would escape, which they would, they would have to fulfil their Focus at some point. Knowing that they were still unaware of its true nature, Barthandelus explained that they were tasked to destroy Cocoon, not save it.
Without much closure, he summoned an airship in which they could escape, and the six of them dodged the pursuing PSICOM in their charmed getaway and landed in an Ark, which was a military base built during the War of Transgression by the Pulse fal'Cie. Fang and Vanille explained that it was most importantly there to train l'Cie. Much time was spent training, and after Fang awoke her Eidolon, they escaped in an ancient airship flown by Sazh, making their way to Gran Pulse. By Hope's mention, they decided to fly to Vanille and Fang's hometown, Oerba, to try and find their answers. As they are suddenly taken down by a Gran Pulsian monster, they fell far down into the prairies of Gran Pulse, and Hope began to lose any hope he had remaining. Soon after, his Eidolon, Alexander, was awoken and defeated.
Travelling, the group trekked miles and miles until they reached Sulyya Springs and saw that Oerba was basically ruined, and only Hope could find a positive attitude. After facing Barthandelus one more time, he admitted to tricking them and reminded them that the only reason why fal'Cie create l'Cie is to make them do things a fal'Cie isn't able to do, and all the fal'Cie desire is to summon the Creator. So, they return to Cocoon and face Orphan, who turns all but Vanille and Fang into Cieth. However, they all revert back to their human form using their own willpower and defeat Orphan, who is currently powering Cocoon. Fang and Vanille then merge to form Ragnarok in order to save Cocoon from its certain doom, and crystallize to form a giant pillar, suspending it in the sky. Hope is reunited with his father, and happily goes on with his life.
That was all that happened in FF13 when Hope was 14. The following information, which will also include spoilers, all takes place in the sequel when Hope is 24/27. Actually, it's confusing because history is altered in the sequel, and I have yet to play the game, so I'm going to try and remain vague. x.x

After saving Cocoon and fulfilling his Focus, Hope Estheim found that Lightning Farron had disappeared. He returned her knife to Lightning's younger sister, Serah, and left for his father. In the next ten years of his life building up to the present day, Hope joined the Academy and made himself a reputation. It was a solid reputation, of course, and after a while his brains and courage made him the "de facto leader" of the Alpha Research Team in the Academy. Through the years, however, he noticed that his friends, including Snow and Sazh, had begun to disappear. So, using his superior knowledge and brains, as well as a desire to bring back his dearest friends and mother, Hope found that things called paradoxes were taking place, and history itself was being altered.
Then, at age 27, Hope was doing some field work when he stumbled across Serah Farron and a friend of hers, whom Hope knew to be Noel Kreiss because when he and Serah appeared at Bresha Ruins five years before, it allowed Hope to analyze their time travel patterns (per say). He then took them back to his lab and assisted them by using a device to reveal Lightning's location, which was Valhalla. Not only did he spend quite a bit of time asking Noel questions about time travel and paradoxes, but he tried to really maximize the productivity with the two of them around. He needed to understand the paradoxes so that he could fix them and control them. Hope revealed that he, too, wanted to alter history, and decided to create the Proto fal'Cie Project to re-levitate Cocoon. However, he and Alyssa are both killed, only to be saved by Noel and Serah and their time-travelling. Then he created the New Cocoon Project to build a man-made Cocoon.
In an alternate universe, Hope and Alyssa create New Cocoon and welcome Noel and Serah, informing them that he had abandoned the Proto fal'Cie project. Later, he and Alyssa try a new form of "time travel" -- making themselves sleep for an extended period of time. They awoke to see 500AF and assist Noel and Serah again and try to defeat Caius. In the end, however, Hope finds Mog, a Moogle who had been helping the now-deceased Serah, who tells him that the goddess Etro was dead.
A few moments later the world began to fall into chaos, leaving Hope to panic. Hope immediately boarded his gummi ship, the NORA, and escaped the failing Pulse. Thanking Mog as he escaped for all of the help he had given him both by fighting with Serah and Noel, as well as immensely helping the process of finishing the gummi ship. Not knowing where it was that he was going, he landed on the world Wonderland, where he prepared to start anew.

Role Playing Sample:
"Oh!" Like the rest of his body, Hope Estheim could hear his voice shaking as a Neoshadow rose from the ground in front of him, launching itself at him only a moment later. Luckily enough, despite his inability to move, or breath, or even think, instinct took over and sent Hope diving out of the way. Let's get real though -- there is no voice in your head that tells you to go, or to buckle down -- its just you. You and your own mind and body. Making this realization, Hope ironically made himself go and buckle down, whipping out the Airwing, which had somehow managed to remain in its holster through the crash landing.
Of course, he was a little shaken up, so without thinking, the scientist through his incredibly weak boomerang in the direction of the Neoshadow, which by this time had found him once again and began to take aim. It was a direct blow, surprisingly, but even Hope knew that it wasn't going to make the cut. Clutching onto the now returning Airwing, he opened his free palm and blasted the enemy with a dose of firaga, only for it to dive back into the ground to take shelter. Its shadow was like a shark fin. In sight, but it didn't matter. It only took the Heartless a moment to find Hope, leaping back out into the open and lashing at his face. "Agh!" He sounded, stumbling back a few steps and grasping his newly-bleeding cheek. This thing was tougher than any PSICOM soldier.
Without taking another step, Hope found himself launching a seeker mine at the Neoshadow, hoping that this would actually deal some damage. Lady luck was on his side, and the seeker mine managed to destroy the fiend entirely, leaving Hope alone in the middle of some kind of courtyard.
He glanced around. All around him were hedges cut to make hearts, and just through an archway, there was some kind of maze. Despite the completely alien surroundings that would provoke a comment out of just about anyone, Hope remained silent. He had his mind wrapped around other things. In fact, the only thing he could think of since the demise of Pulse was whether Alyssa had made it out. Or if maybe, just maybe, Lightning had escaped Valhalla, or Vanille and Fang had woken up. It didn't matter. They wouldn't have made it anyway. He should have went back for them. He should have searched for Lightning even harder. He should have saved them when he had the chance.
I'm sorry, Light.
Jumping back to reality, Hope took a look at his Gummi Ship. It wasn't in perfect condition, obviously, but you wouldn't have guessed it had just crash-landed. Maybe he could get off this bizarre world, and maybe he would be able to revive Pulse, the same way he created New Cocoon.
Maybe.
