In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

A small girl was laying on the ground in the middle of the second district. She had just been spit out of a dark portal that had taken her from her world. She opened her eyes and pushed her upper body up. She turned her body so she could sit up and rubbed her eyes. She stretched and yawned before looking around. Her mind was still a little cloudy and she was trying to remember how she had gotten to this place. She remembered Heartless . . . a battle . . . and then waking up here. She stood up, slightly shakily, and rubbed her eyes again. Suddenly, she thought about her scar and shook her hair to cover it. She walked over to the nearest bench and sat down. She stared down at the ground and, as her mind started to clear, tears started to roll down her cheeks. Her thoughts went back to her home. She had no way back and no way to tell anyone what had happened. What if Saxen came back? What if she never found her way home? Her grandparents would be worried sick and she may never see Saxen again. The one person she had called her friend . . . She drew her knees up to her chest and buried her face in them. Gale began to sob and wet spots began to appear on the knees of her pants as the tears soaked them.
Ari awoke suddenly. He had felt a burst of darkness, radiating outside the hotel. He got off the bed, and grabbed his robe. Pulling it over his head, he strode over to the window. Strange, no Heartless. Only a crying girl? Dear gods, she was just sitting there, didn't she realize where she was? She must be new, a survivor. Like him. He hurried out of his room, his sense of chivalry urging him to the girl's aid. He walked quickly down the stairs, and stepped outside, blessing the mother dragon for the absence of the Heartless. He walked quickly and silently down into the courtyard, over to the girl. "Excuse me, but this is not a safe place."

Gale was still lost in her own thoughts when Ari approached her. She didn't hear anything beyond her sobs until he spoke. She jumped and stared, wide-eyed, at the man before her, and a short scream escaped her lips. Her face was still wet with tears and her eyes were turning red. She quickly hid her face from him and a few more tears slid down her face. "Who you?" she asked, her voice shaking from the crying and from fear. She wasn't sure what to think of this man. His voice seemed calm and kind enough, yet she was afraid. She was afraid of the new world, afraid of the man before her, and afraid of the Heartless. She had been told that they were everywhere, and she no longer had Saxen's friends to protect her. She wiped her face with her sleeve, shook her hair, and looked at the guy. The look in his eyes reminded her of Saxen on some level, like he just wanted to help, and she was totally alone, so she relaxed herself and put her feet on the ground, waiting for a name.
"I am Ari Karnes. Please, we should leave before-" Too late. Ari heard the poofing of Heartless appearing. He turned around, and counted quickly. 5 soldiers, a pair of large bodies, and a contingent of shadows. One of the large bodies began advancing, and ari reacted immediately, his staff appearing in his hand. He pointed it, and lightning leapt out from the eye sockets on the goat skull, once, twice, three times, blasting the heartless into oblivion. "Stay close to me!" he commanded the girl.

Ari Karnes was his name, then, and he was saying they needed to leave. Why? she wondered, but she quickly found out: Heartless. There weren't as many as there usually were back home, but there weren't as many people to fight them, either. One of the Heartless started running at them, and she curled up, screaming, but the impact never came. She relaxed herself, still breathing very heavily, and looked up to see the Large Body gone.
"Stay close to me!"
She was used to having to be protected. She got up and stood a few feet behind Ari. She didn't want to be in his way, but she wanted to be as close as she could. She watched him and listened for further instruction.
Ari swung his staff, smashing away a soldier, then he dismissed the Havoc Wreaker, and summoned his spell book. The pages turned automatically to the spell he wanted, Conflagration. He mumbled the spell, and pointed his palm at the Heartless. Cursed fire lanced out, flamethrower like, and washed over the dark creatures. They fell back, daunted and burning. Ari pointed at the hotel. "We need to get there, it is safe."

Gale jumped back and fell on her rear end when Ari's staff disappeared and was replaced by a book. Then, fire lashed out from his hand at the Heartless. She backed up a bit, her eyes wide and jaw dropped. She had never seen anything like this except at places like the circus, but this was different. This was real and it was deadly. She saw Ari point over at a building and she glanced over at it. It was a hotel.
"We need to get there, it is safe."
She nodded and stumbled her way up to her feet. She brushed off her pants and looked up at him, turning red out of embarrassment. Her face then got a serious look to it and she said, "I'm okay. We go?"
She did not talk well, but that proved nothing about her mind. "Yes, let's go." He lead her through the dizzy mob of heartless. One soldier seemed to be recovering, so ari dismissed his book, summoned his staff, and clubbed it in the side of head. It stumbled backwards, and fell on its rear, stars orbiting its head. Ari smacked a few more heartless aside in this manner, and made it to the stairs with the girl. He turned around, frowning. He did not enjoy the nessecity of killing the heartless, but he knew if he did not, they would recover and attack. "Cover your ears." he drew two explosive glass capsules, and threw them both at the heartless. The capsules detonated, and destroyed two thirds of the heartless.

Gale followed close behind Ari and tried to ignore the disappearing book and the staff that took its place. When they reached some stairs, Ari turned around and she was instructed to cover her ears. She knew well enough to do as she was told, so she covered her ears. She watched whatever Ari had thrown at the heartless explode and saw several of them disappear. She had never liked being on the battlefield, and, even though it wasn't people killing people, it was still scary. She stayed as close to Ari as possible and waited to be led away from these horrid creatures.
"Quickly, before more show up. We need to get to the second floor of the Hotel, it is safe there." Ari lead the girl around to the building, batting Heartless to the side as they appeared, knocking them into the courtyard below. They made it to the hotel, and he opened the door.
And closed it.
"We probably do not wish to go in that way."

The second floor would be safe. Good. They were almost to the hotel, too. When they got there, Ari opened the door, but quickly closed it. She looked up at him and blinked at him a couple times, her head tilting to the side with confusion. Her lack of understanding was cleared up, however, when he spoke.
"We probably do not wish to go in that way."
She shook her head at him and said, "Heartless bad. You lead to safe place?" Her throat was starting to itch by the end of her question and she coughed a couple times. Then, she looked back up at him and waited to be led on.
He looked at her with concern as she coughed. "Yes, I shall lead you someplace safe. Unfortunately, this hotel is the safe place. We need to get to the second floor. If you sneak around to the other door, I shall endeavor to draw the heartless away. Then, you can head upstairs. Take this," he said, summoning Havoc Wreaker, and leaning it on the wall. "It has a small spell, which should enable you to stop any Heartless in the slight chance one should remain. Simply point it at your target, and lightning will blast them."

She watched him intently with fear-filled eyes as he spoke. Having him there was the only thing that was keeping her from totally breaking down. Then, he told her that she was going to have to leave him for a little while. He offered her his weapon, but her eyes just went wide. "We split up?" Tears were welling in her eyes as she stared at him. She heard what he was saying, but kept going back to her being alone again. She didn't want to be alone ever again, especially not right then.
THe girl was scared out of her mind, and it showed. Her tear filled eyes pierced his heart. "I am sorry. I do not wish to leave you." He started reaching out, to stroke her cheek, but hesitated, unsure. He remembered her reaction in the Courtyard. Whoever had hurt this girl so, to make her so afraid... If he ever found out where they were, they would pay the penalty. "You count to thirty, and I will be there. Sooner, most likely. Please, dear. This is the only thing that will work. I am sorry you will be alone, but it won't be for long, I promise. Trust me in this, and go."
A hand. Coming toward her face. Her eyes shut tight and she flinched back, screaming and almost falling over, again. She relaxed when, after a few seconds, no hit came. She was still breathing heavily, but she was able to stand and look Ari in the eyes again. He made her feel calm, but the words that came out of his mouth didn't help calm her all that much. He told her that they still had to separate, but it wouldn't be for long. She kept looking at him, but it was obvious that he wasn't going to give her a different plan, so she grabbed his staff and ran off to find the other door. She counted, but, because she was nervous and scared, she counted pretty fast. She was already almost at 30 by the time she reached the door. She waited there for him as she finished her count.
