In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Taking the long way home. Again. Vayne wasn't even sure how he managed to justify leaving his little home anymore. He didn't perform at Dark Intentions anymore, which at first had made Onee-chan really happy. But then Vayne stopped singing all together, and then he stopped talking unless he was asked a question.
He was broken.
Defective... That's what I am. I can't believe I ever thought I was anything more... than an annoying little kid.
He hadn't told anyone why he started taking the long way home. It was because there was more of a chance for the Heartless to attack. Recently, things had been quiet, but Vayne knew. It was only a matter of time...
I'm always cold, now...
His thought were mostly things like that these days. the others though he was sick, or tired most of the time, but when they thought he wasn't in earshot, he'd heard Lea say the magic words:
"He's acting like a zombie."
And for all intents and purposes, that was exactly what Vayne was. He walked, talked, ate, slept, and bathed, but if you looked into his eyes, you'd only ever find three things-- fear, sadness, and emptiness.
He still didn't even know why he felt this way. After all, it wasn't like Note would never return to Traverse Town. Of course...
He hates it here... There's practically nothing growing. A proud lord of the forest like him... He deserves a garden to grow and nurture. A world where plants can live freely. A... a mate who wasn't weak and unworthy.
Then they spawned. Four Soldiers, Two Large Bodies, and three Green Requiems. They'd come for him.
"Finally," Vayne said.
He dropped to his knees, not even summoning his glaive to fight back. Maybe, if they took his Heart... he'd feel warm again...

((I got Shunny's permission to join the thread Vayne.))
Puni Kiro bounced outside the hotel located in the second district. He found himself making these walks often, but couldn't fathom as to why. Maybe he just liked exploring? Or it could be for the King. I mean I need to bring something back.. Maybe information could be good. He thought in his head.
The first thing Kiro saw when he walked out was a kid with cat ears on his knees and a whole swarm of heartless rushing towards him. Kiro's instincts took over and he rapidly bounced towards the boy and pushed him out of the way, only to be hit by one of the soldier's claws.
"Ouch!" He shouted as he was blown back by the slash. A scratch could be clearly seen on his body and it stung, but that didn't matter now. Kiro bounced towards the cat kid and stood between him and the heartless.
"What are you doing!? Trying to pray to god or something? There are heartless here which can kill you! He said to the kid in an comically annoyed tone. "I don't know what you're doing, but some help in fighting these things can be greatly appreciated." He then said. The heartless were slowly approaching them and if something didn't happen soon, he knew that both of them would be screwed.
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "FOREVER WE GO INTO THE GLORIOUS LIGHT"
"Well, that seems to be the last of them." A soft sigh escaped his lips as he swung his blade, cutting the Soldier in half and sending it back where it truly belonged. It seemed to be quite a normal day for the pyromancer. Nothing special or unusual (like that Heartless Invasion at the First District he had faced months ago) had happened; the Heartless levels at the Second District were quite stable and his daily training session had been actually pleasant.
Still, nothing was better than a nice evening at Antique's hotel room. What they decided to do or talk about frankly didn't matter as long as they got to spend some time together. However, the girl still hadn't recovered completely and she needed to get some rest everyday, despite how much they loved each other. Mikhail smiled, turning his head to glance at the hotel; she was probably sleeping, dreaming as she usually did.
His stomach rumbled.
Well, maybe he had overdone himself that day; he sure was hungry. Thinking about buying some cake to share with Antique, he began to walk toward the nearby staircase when it happened.
Suddenly, a band of Heartless appeared out of nowhere. Normally they wouldn't have been a problem, but Mikhail managed to see the small boy kneeling before them. He clenched his teeth, not even noticing the bouncing blue creature as he dashed forward. Rutherford stood before the Heartless, having eliminated the nearby Soldier Heartless with a swift horizontal slash.
"Stay close." The man said, immediately charging toward a Green Requiem in an attempt to defeat it. He would need to take care of the mages if he wanted to end this battle quickly. Mikhail just hoped that the boy would stay out of harm's way.
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "AND THERE IS NO TURNING BACK FOR US, FOREVER MORE"
Vayne felt himself be pushed out of the way of an attack by... some weird, blue thing. Normally, he might hug it and comment how blue was his favorite color. However, Vayne's new code forbade him from such things. Instead he answered its question as another person entered the scene and attacked one of the green mage Heartless.
"What are you doing!? Trying to pray to god or something?"
"I'm trying to feel the warmth again..." Vayne said, not quite looking the blue creature in the eyes-- Vayne's own gaze was quite distant, like he was sleep walking.
Looking to the Heartless, Vayne slowly rose and made his way over to the side, a clear target for the Heartless.
"I'm over here," Vayne called, attempting to attract the dark creatures' attention.
Why get anyone else involved? If they'd just let the Heartless take my Heart, then I could stop feeling so cold...
Vayne stretched his arms out, making a cross-shape with his body.

"I'm trying to feel the warmth again..." The kid said, looking at the heartless. He sounded like he'd given up, he seemed to be looking like he was asleep, his eyes lifeless, a shell of a person. He rose and made his way towards the right, making himself open to the heartless.
"I'm over here," The boy called out. "I'm the one you're here for." He then said, stretching his arms out, making himself a big target for the heartless to attack.
Kiro was in disbelief. What the hell is that boy doing! Kiro thought to himself in disbelief. It then came to him. Suicide. A look of disbelief stretched across his gummi face.
Then, another man came in and expertly killed one of the soldiers with a well placed slash. "Stay Close" The man said to them both. Though Kiro wanted to stay close to him, he couldn't leave the boy there. He was not going to move.
"I'd love to stay close to you, however I'm a bit preoccupied trying to stop this kid from killing himself!" He shouted in a sarcastic tone. "I think he's serious about this and I need to stick by him so he doesn't do something stupid. Can you take care of the heartless?
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "TOGETHER WE RISE, WE WILL BECOME STRONG AGAIN"
However, as Mikhail raised his sword, the Green Requiem simply floated away. The man glared at the creature, muttering one of his choice curse words under his breath before darting off once again. Unfortunately a Large Body decided to get in the way, but the pyromancer easily managed to find a way around this nuisance. As he approached the bigger Heartless, the man jumped, landed on the creature's belly and simply bounced over the obstacle. This also gave him an advantage against the mage Heartless, who ended up defeated as he landed on the ground.
Suddenly, the small creature he hadn't noticed before spoke up and attempted to explain the situation. Rutherford was truly shocked; this kid... just a mere child... and he was thinking about suicide? What the hell? Now that he thought about it, for some reason, the boy reminded him of an old friend back home. Kaden Ossa, a young prodigy and one well-versed in magics foreign to the four elements. He had been part of his squad at the beginning of the war and had ultimately sacrificed himself to buy the rest of the team some time when they were ambushed by a rival kingdom. His last words still echoed at the back of his mind: "I'm just a servant of Dwayna... this is my destiny, Rutherford."
As he turned to face the Heartless once more, it was too late. Mikhail had lowered his guard and left himself open to attack, and the Large Body he had avoided before had sent him flying toward a wall. "Damn... that's going to hurt like hell tomorrow." The man muttered, standing up with haste before offering the obese creature a glare. And then he noticed the pair of Green Requiems floating behind it, busy healing the Heartless's wounds.
That was enough to paint a smirk across his face.
Raising Flame's End once more, the pyromancer swiftly approached the Large Body. The creatured sticked out its belly to push him back, but Mikhail knew what to do; he leaped, bounced on the Heartless's belly and quickly proceeded to draw Path to Mana. Forming a cross with both weapons, he struck both of the mages and sent them back to darkness.
"Alright, just make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "AND WE'LL BE FOREVER TRUE OR DIE"
As the man destroyed the two green mages, the Large Body took the opportunity to stride forward towards Vayne. He could almost see a glint of sadistic pleasure in its eyes as it knocked him into the wall a few feet behind him. It stung so badly, and Vayne slid down the wall without feeling to much pain.
So this is it... This is the end... I thought it would feel less painful...
The Large Body began walking forward again. Vayne didn't move.
Embrace the warmth, Vayne...
Though apparently, his glaive had another idea. It appeared in his hand from the pocket dimension he kept it in. It sat there, in his firm grip, blade glinting with an inner radiance.
My glaive? But... I was going to let it take my Heart, and feel the warmth...
Vayne gazed at the blade. The light he thought he could see, even though it almost certainly wasn't any shinier than it normally was... and yet...
I have to fight.
The chill that had been enveloping Vayne for so long was receding. He now felt incredibly warm. Warm... and getting warmer. The Heartless was still lurching towards Vayne, unaware of his new will to fight. Not to survive or to live, necessarily, just an overwhelming urge to fight.
So warm... It's because I have friends--
Vayne stood, brandishing his blade at the Large Body.
--people I care about, who still need me, and I still need them!
Light gathered in Vayne's blade, just as heat gathered in his body. It was so hot.
"My friends... still need me..." Vayne muttered, jumping high above the Heartless. He aimed the tip of the bladed staff at the creature's head as he allowed gravity to take effect.
The shimmering metal pierced the Heartless like a hot knife cuts through butter. Of course, not being completely in control of his faculties, Vayne ended up slamming into the ground. That was what did it for him.
"Alright, just make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." The man said to him, obviously preoccupied with the heartless. Turning to the cat boy, he saw him get attacked by the large body. He smashed into the wall and just sat there.
"Shit!" Kiro said to himself. He couldn't let the kid die, he couldn't. Making his way over to him, a glaive suddenly appeared in the kid's hand. He stood up and light began gathering in the glaive. Kiro just stood there, amazed at what was going on.
"My friends... still need me..." The kid muttered, jumping into the air. He aimed his weapon downwards and slashed through the enemy, as if it was nothing. Kiro was just trying to make sense of this situation. The kid collided heavily with the ground and began shouting.
"It's so hot...God, it hurts! Note!" The boy then collapsed. Kiro was now shocked and confused as to what the hell just happened. Rushing over to him, he began to get worried.
"Don't you die on me kid!" He said. He spun around three times, gathering magical energy. "Puni Healga! He shouted. A intense, bright blue light surrounded the cat boy, healing him greatly. Hoping that this would at least help the boy, he turned to the man and shouted.
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "WHEN WE FIGHT IT IS FOR ALL MANKIND"
"Just keep the boy safe! I'll take care of the Heartless!" He barked back, sapphire eyes fixed on the three Soldiers that now approached him. Mikhail had to hurry; he knew that the boy and the round one would perish if he kept toying around with those Heartless. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he proceeded to sheath his weapons; he had to change his tactics if he wanted to end the fight with haste.
"Find peace in the embrace of Grenth."
Closing his eyes for concentration, Rutherford intensified the area's temperature before finally being able to create one of the things he loved the most: fire. His lips curved into a smirk; creating fire was a bit complicated, but manipulating it was rather simple for him. The man coated his hands completely with flames and suddenly launched a series of large fireballs at two of the opposing creatures. They both had perished by the time he had opened his eyes and, as soon as he turned to launch a second assault at the survivors, the rest of the Heartless had fled the area.
Tch, cowards.
After extinguishing the remains of his attack, Mikhail approached the blue gelatinous creature and the feline boy. The latter didn't seem to have any serious injuries, but the pyromancer wouldn't expect him to wake up until a couple of hours later. The man was also aware of the dangers of remaining outside for long; the Heartless had fled but they would eventually be back to try claiming their hearts again. Eventually, Rutherford picked up the youth and carried him to his room at the nearby hotel where he and Kiro would wait until the boy decided to wake up.
((Bleh, a bit short and rushed but I seriously just wanted to end the fight and continue with the thread P:))
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "FOR LIFE, FOREVER MORE"
Was this death? It was certainly softer than Vayne had thought it would be. No... this was a bed. A warm plush bed like the one he'd been trying to order from that one store. He was in a bed, but it certainly wasn't a be he wanted to be in.
I don't know how long I've been out... but anyone who wanted to could have spirited me away... Vayne thought.
Opening his eyes and casting a glance around the room he found himself in, Vayne noted that it was richly furnished for being in a place like Traverse Town. The bed alone nearly took up the entire wall it was placed on. Across from the bed was the door, and beside the door was a bookcase absolutely loaded with books.
Tucking his hair back behind his ears, Vayne threw off the sheets and swung his feet around, touching the cold floor with bare skin that made Vayne hiss a bit.
"Where'd my socks and shoes go?" Vayne mused, before looking over the rest of his attire.
He was no longer wearing his jeans and black hoodie that Onee-chan had purchased for him. Instead, he was in a pair of satin pajamas that were maybe two sizes too big for him. Lifting the waistband, Vayne sighed in relief that his underwear were still on and still his. Getting up off the bed, he began to peruse the room. Though it was indeed opulent with the things it had, there were very few things in the room aside from furniture. Vayne sighed, deciding to wait for whoever had taken him to this place to come back, and plucked a book from the shelf titled Faeries and Other Faer Folk. Though at first Vayne was just flipping through the pages casually, one page in particular caught his eye.
In the illustration opposite the page, a small boy knelt in a clearing in a forest, and was attended to by many wild animals like deer and rabbits. Vayne had never thought it strange to spend time with animals, but... to tell the truth, he too had been in a similar position as the boy in the picture. The opposite page read as follows:
The wilderness faeries are some of the most gentle and beloved of the Faer Folk, being naturals at training and befriending animals. As part of their talents, they are gifted singers, often thanks to their close connections with birds. They also have a natural calling to dance, and can often be seen doing so on great faerie holidays. Wilderness faeries, when they wear any clothing at all, do not differentiate between male clothing and female clothing, and wear whatever they please.
Though incontrovertibly the most gentle and kind of any faerie, they are also the most dangerous. When threatened, a wilderness faerie may inadvertently access its most latent and powerful magic in an attempt to subdue or eliminate whatever is threatening it. This magic runs rampant, but can never harm the faerie itself.
As Vayne was about to turn the page, he heard footsteps, and hurriedly closed it and ran to put the book back on the shelf. Sliding it back into place, he reached the bed again and covered up just as he heard the knob turn.

Kiro watched the rest of the events unfurl before him, the flames being summoned from the man and easily dispatching the many heartless. He had to admit, that guy was good. Kiro would never be able to do that, not in a million years. He was a healer, not a fighter. And anyways, the other punis were better with that type of magic.
As the man picked up the boy and brought him to the hotel room, Kiro walked quietly next to him, not sure what to think. What just happened? The events befuddled the young puni and he couldn't help but let out a sigh as he tried to process the events in his mind. However, it still confused him.
When the man had put him in the bed, they swiftly left the room and waited outside. Kiro hoped that the boy would get better and that he wouldn't die. That would really suck. Just what was with that boy however? And why did he have cat ears?
"Thanks for the help back there. I'm Puni Kiro of the Knights of the Round Puni, but call me Kiro. What's your name?" He asked the man, giving a friendly smile as he did so. He did technically owe the man his and the kid's life as he did dispatch of the heartless rather easily, which was a relief.
"How long have you been here? In Traverse Town?" He then asked, trying to start a conversation. "I'm still quite new to this entire place, but the king did order me to investigate other worlds. Didn't expect the enemies to be this ruthless and numerous." He continued to say, letting out a sigh as time passed by.
Eventually, Kiro heard noises in the room and he immediately moved over to the door and opened it, which was quite a strange sight with him being basically comprised of gummy.
"Looks like you're finally awake eh?" He said sarcastically, giving a amused smile as he bounced in. "You don't know how much trouble you put us through. Geez boy, you could've been killed out there." He continued to say as he heard the other man enter the room. Now was the time to get some answers to just what the heck happened.
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "HELP US TO BE THE FUTURE, TO REACH THE STARS"
((I took forever, I know))
Fortunately for the trio, their little skirmish had practically taken place in front of the hotel. He smiled, letting out a sigh full of relief upon entering the building; it wasn't that catboy was chubby or anything, but the man was glad that he and that strange, round creature were now out of any immediate danger. Even with Jadis and some of the other Guardians around, Traverse Town wasn't exactly the safest place in the universe and that was a fact that the knight had seen proven time after time after time.
His expression softened, leading him to relax his general posture as he walked toward the Red Room. Mikhail glanced over his shoulder, noticing the blue creature that kept following him bouncing its way behind him. The man had to admit that for such a small creature, holding itself against the Heartless while protecting the catboy had been no small feat. He'd be sure to compliment him on his bravery later, once their priorities had been dealt with.
"Alright... let's just get this guy some place to rest until he recovers."
Tightening his grip on the younger male's body, the man quickly raised his leg and kicked the door open. Sure, it seemed like he was busting into someone else's room but Mikhail was just too busy to use his hands, turn the doorknob and open the door like a normal, civilized person. It immediately flung back open, as if it hadn't been even locked in the first place, and the man quickly placed the boy on the bed. He took out a set of unused pajamas (satin had never been his style... hell, pajamas had never been his style) and decided to change the unconscious kid into them, as unappropiate as that could have been in another context. But hell, those would probably be more comfortable to rest in than some sweaty, casual outfit.
Rutherford exited the room after a few moments, closing the door behind him. His eyes immediately dropped down to the strange, round creature standing nearby, curiosity filling them as he wondered what it was exactly. The knight had never seen anything like it, not even back at Elona during the wars; yet again, realizing that there were other worlds besides his own hadn't been exactly a soothing transition.
"Mikhail, Mikhail Rutherford. Former Commander of Nayam's Blazing Dragoons and current Leader of the Guardians of the Worlds." More like co-leader, but hey, that didn't make him sound like he ran the show completely. Sure, Max was an important part of the group but most of the recruiting and planning had usually been taken care of on the pyromancer's expense. Not that he was complaining, of course, but he wanted to let someone know for once that he was the top dog... someone that wasn't Antique, anyway. "And I should be thanking you, my friend. If it hadn't been for you, that kid wouldn't have made it here in one piece. Your bravery is truly remarkable."
He offered Kiro a short bow before regaining his composture. The little guy certainly wasn't much of a swordsman, but that healing spell he had used earlier had been quite formidable. Perhaps he was some sort of medic? They needed some of those among the Guardians... but the time to talk about that would come later, after getting the boy to his family. "I've been around, not really a settler though. At least not until recently; there's... something keeping me here for a while."
Upon hearing mention of a king, Mikhail's mind immediately went back to a certain rodent. Could it possibly be that...
Noises.
Wow, that boy sure knows how to get back on his feet." Watching Puni Kiro open the door he had closed minutes ago, the pyromancer stepped back into the room just in time to hear the blue creature lecture the catboy. "Enough, Kiro. The boy's safe, and that's what's important right now. There's no need to overwhelm him right now." His eyes trailed back to the young boy in the satin pajamas, narrowing for a moment before he continued to speak. "Still, you have some explaining to do. I'll personally escort you to your home afterward; I don't want you to get hurt out there."
Yes, Mikhail wanted some answers and he wanted them now.
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "AND TO BE EMBRACED BY LIGHT"
Vayne's ears flattened for a moment. He had been lectured before, things like 'Don't eat berries unless you know what kind they are' and 'Clocks are not adequate projectile weapons' (the latter of which had been after a rather hilarious combat training exercise). But still, he didn't feel good, especially not after recovering from his rather long dance with depression. Then the man spoke to him-- told him he wanted answers. Vayne could almost feel his eyes go a little wider. His feet still chilled from their undressed state. Vayne's ears flicked up, and he unintentionally groped his chest as he looked at Mikhail.
"My clothes..." he said, somewhat distantly. "Where'd my clothes go?"
He thought about it for a moment. He was still relieved to know his underwear weren't gone-- even more relieved he'd worn normal ones today. Vayne drew his legs up, placing chin on knees and looking at Mikhail and Kiro. He knew they had some questions. Questions like 'Why did you try to let Heartless kill you?'
"My name," he said, starting off at the beginning, "is Vayne."
Kiro chuckled at Mikhail's statement that he was brave. He wasn't that brave, it was only natural to help out in a situation like that. He would be mad not to have helped out. He didn't say anything however as he went into the room and looked at the boy.
"If you say so Mikhail." He said exasperatedly, sighing as he made his way back over to Mikhail. "As for your clothes, ask him. I don't know where they went." He then added, motioning to Mikhail. What he said was true though. At least the boy didn't kill himself. If they weren't there, Kiro didn't know what could've happened. But he guessed that the kid would of easily died. But still, that attack he did puzzled him a little.
"If you're going to escort him back, I might as well accompany you as well. I'm curious about some things as well." Kiro stated, making sure that everyone else was perfectly clear that he wasn't just going to walk away from this none the wiser.
"So kid. Where do you live and where are your parents?" He asked him bluntly, but not in an offensive tone. It was more of a curious and kind tone that the gummy adopted as he looked at the Vayne. "By the way, I'm Kiro. It's nice to meet you Vayne."
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "IF WE JUST STAND TOGETHER, THEN WE MIGHT BREAK"
The man simply watched, blue eyes narrowing with concern as they slowly fixed themselves on the young one's face. Mikhail decided to go ahead and give the boy a chance to speak; this wasn't really an investigation, and certainly not an interrogation, so there wasn't really a reason to make him feel uncomfortable or to try to force a confession out of him. But even then, the pyromancer was aware that something was going on within the boy's heart, and that something was enough to make him feel slightly uneasy.
And Dwayna, how he hated that feeling.
Either way, I'm keeping this one close while I'm around. I'm... not so sure that he's alright after all that's happened. However, he did not speak, not even uttering the smallest of sounds. Rutherford wasn't even sure of why he was doing all of this; the kid was clearly someone else's responsibility and wasn't anything more than an acquaintance to him. Sure, one could say that the man had a soft spot for younglings but he hadn't hesitated when he was ordered to exterminate whole communities, offsprings included, back at Elona. That didn't necessary mean that he enjoyed the bloodbath, but he still hadn't questioned the King about it when it happened. Maybe the reason went deeper... maybe he was doing it because of Ossa's...
Vayne. A name. Mikhail blinked, realizing that his mind had gone away for a few moments back there. His eyes rose to meet the boy's once more; he barely registered his query when Kiro started bugging him again. "They're over there, on the chair," he began, pointing at the pile of dirty, messily folded clothes resting on the furniture. "But before you go on your way, I'd really want to know what happened back there."
And in that moment, Rutherford finally began to understand; Vayne was empty, alone, roaming around life without a purpose of his own. Sure, one could be surrounded by people all the time, but when none of them really came to understand you as a person... it was just as bad as being stranded in a deserted island, all by yourself and slowly dying, bit by bit, every day. The boy's expression was simply enough: gloomy, blue, maybe even lost and unfocused. The boy was there but at the same time he wasn't... and that emotion was horrible. Mikhail himself had been there once and he was afraid of coming back to that pathetic persona.
"You don't have to tell me all the details... just try to talk about it. It helps."
