In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Vapor grasped the hilt of his dagger with his right hand, and returned it to its rightful place by his side. He looked to the sky, before responding to Era's question: "The one you had is called Hyd." He replied, "The other being Ro." His gaze returned to Era, or rather, where Era had been. She'd already set off in what appeared to be a random direction, which was probably the best course of action as neither of the two had any idea where they might find a gummi ship.
It took Vapor only a couple seconds to catch up to Era, giving her a quick once over as he did - scanning for any weapons she may possess. He came up short, however. There was not a weapon to be seen on the girl. But the boy was curious, especially after seeing the way she held his own blade. She certainly wasn't new to it. "You have any weapons?" Vapor queried.
Whilst awaiting an answer, Vapor took some time to admire his surroundings and see if he knew where they were actually headed. All he saw was the same, generic brick walls and houses he was used to seeing when wandering the streets. None of this was helpful in the slightest for Vapor. He had no idea where they were headed, and was almost certain he hadn't been there before. This didn't really matter though. They were, of course, looking for something he had never seen before, so it'd make sense to go somewhere he hadn't been before.
They hadn't really been walking very long: a few yards, perhaps, when Vapor had inquired about weapons of her own. It wasn't really a strange question. She did look completely defenseless at first glance, after all.
"Actually, I do." She stopped walking and turned to face her aqua-haired acquaintance. "Just a sec." After a quick examination of their surroundings, and the assurance that there weren't too many bystanders to gripe about it, Era closed her eyes. She had to carefully tap into the shadow surrounding her own heart to access her weapons, and drawing anything more than a dagger, even if it was only to show off, could be grounds for trouble. Yet, there wasn't anyone around to bear witness except Vapor himself, and with that knowledge, the young female drew in a breath.
Dark orbs of energy began to focus at her palms, and a few tendrils of black and purple swirled around her wrists, then faded. A web of black ice cracked and glistened around her hands, extending outward in the form of her weapons. Then, shadows took form, and the yellow hilts of her blades were evident.
The weapons, Soul Reapers as she'd coined them, were forged from sharpened shadow. The blades curved in a reverse fashion, appearing more like scythes than swords. Tendrils of black steamed off the weapons, a few at a time, dissolving as they left their source.
The grips were simple enough; not as soft as cloth, but not as hard as straight metal. Their hand-guards were a pair of circles, crossed in an X-like fashion, and within the center of these strange X-like designs, running in perfect symmetry, a pair of lights orbited, humming with a quiet vibrance.
Era's weapons, a physical mirror of her heart, were a strange collision between the Light and the Darkness, made manifest in peculiar coexistence.
After the summoning ritual, she opened her eyes, silently appreciating the reflection of her weapons in the pools of water coagulated along the ground. The dimming light of the day made all of this such a wonderful experience, and she was glad to have another friendly face to share it with.
Her blue gaze met with Vapor, and she offered over one of her weapons. "They're Soul Reapers." Well, she seemed happy enough, even with weapons carrying such a dreary name.
After being enticed by the rather ritualistic summoning of Era’s weapons, Vapor stood in a slight state of shock for a couple of reasons. The first being because he really wasn’t expecting anything like that to happen. The whole summoning of weapons, while it could be a downfall if they’re need in an instant, seemed pretty damn cool to him. It made him wonder if he’d ever be able to figure out how to do something similar with his own two weapons. Maybe forge them from water whenever they’re required, he wasn’t really sure, but that’s beside the point. Summoning weapons is pretty damn cool.
The second reason behind his shock being the blades themselves. They were darker than the night’s sky, which seemed a bit odd to Vapor. From his limited experience with the girl, Vapor had never seen anything in her character that could warrant such darkness. She always seemed to be a light, happy and kind person and not one twisted with dark. This meant that, in his mind, Era having weapons so dark just seemed wrong. The name too, “Soul Reapers”, didn’t fit her character either, but does fit the look of the blades perfectly. Vapor contemplated asking about the name and why they’re called as such, but he figured it was a question for another time as it may well be a long, possibly complicated, answer that he wasn’t all that bothered by at this moment in time.
Taking Era’s offer, Vapor took one of her weapons from her hand. As he took it, however, a small cold sting, with a somewhat electrical tingle to it, spread through his entire body causing him to shiver slightly at first. But it quickly died down, either due to him getting used to it or it actually stopping, he wasn’t too sure. After the sting had gone, Vapor sliced the weapon through the air a few times, just as Era had done with his earlier. It felt fairly similar to his own, in terms of grip at least. However it cut the air differently, probably due to the differences in the blade, mainly the curve and what it’s made from.
Satisfied with the destruction he’d caused to the air in front of him, Vapor stopped swinging Era’s weapon, and handed it back to her whilst commenting ”They don’t really suit you in my opinion, but...” He paused for a second, not wanting to get himself stuck in asking her about the origins of the name or anything similar. ”...But they’re nice weapons, I guess.” He finished, as he turned back to keep walking to wherever they were going. He was still clueless about that, and wasn’t quite sure if Era knew either. Oh well, walking aimlessly was fine for him – it was something to do.
Era's smile diminished at Vapor's comment. She had forgotten just how much people didn't actually know about her. And while typically she was an open book, the girl did have some dark secrets. Shameful things she hid far below the surface that were likely better undiscovered. But didn't everyone have secrets? She would make very little mention of her own, and would merely do as he had done a few dozen times and slice the air with them, her mind remembering the battles she'd faced with them. "You should see me in action!" She pointed one Reaper at an invisble object her mind's eye had created. "They're quick but also very strong," yet they also seemed to be strangely sturdy for being so easy on the wrists... and so ethereal.
The weapon in her back hand spun with a flick of her wrist; an idle movement that had been practiced to the point of second nature. And, faster than they had been summoned, she allowed the weapons to fade away in a shimmer of purple and black inverse sparkles.
The small female trotted easily after Vapor, her boots splashing through small pools of water, and they ventured onward. A few more blocks went by, and the two made it to the ship yard. It was a location that hadn't been /that/ hard to find. On a world that had only barrenness and city, it was easy to meander until you found what you were after.
And there, before them, were Gummi Ships of all shapes, sizes and colors. Some of them growled and sputtered with life, others were sentinel where they hovered.
A Moogle with a darker coloration and an authoritative air about him hovered near a faintly glowing crystal out in front of the dock; he seemed to be the guardian of the ship yard. Well, at the very least, he appeared content just to hang around the location.
And even if he wasn't that well versed in the Ship Yard, she got the feeling he'd know more about this world's transportation system than she presently did.
And so, she inquired.
