In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

“No, no, no! This doesn’t make any sense, why… What’s going on?”
Yuuki had returned to his lab after a break, a brief moment of reconnaissance, some time to gather data from the sensors he had left around. Some needed new batteries, and some were gone beyond repair. He wasn’t immensely surprised that his hideout looked broken into, but what did catch him off guard was how clean it was.
Things had been shifted, but not destroyed. It was almost like something – or somebody – had been looking for something. But then he found something. Or rather, he noticed a lack of something.
His latest project was a study into a cute for the virus that ran through his veins, as well as an upgrade that would help him be the hero the world needed. The schematics were from an old idea he had back on his world, a grand idea for new games. He had reverse-engineered a copy of Virus’ Driver he had stolen the data for, and had even made a new cartridge exclusively for it. Tokumeki Crisis. His thoughts went back to her sister as he coded it. She had always loved those dumb dating simulations
But, more importantly, he wanted to know how to break his games.
He was making a cheat device for their cartridges. The preliminary data was successful, but he needed a use for it. As he mulled it over, his thoughts came to his friends, and he had taken Mighty Action X off the table, looking at it.
Then he remembered an old idea. The final game in the Mighty series, a game where Mighty reached his perfect form. His invincible form.
He began coding, but he knew there was something else he needed. And so he took the one cartridge he hated to look at, the one responsible for Aku’s death. Maximum Mighty X. As he worked, he muttered to himself, soldering wires together.
”The virus is too strong, but instead of immunity, I can give myself invincibility…”
“Time to pilot the most powerful body. Maximum Power X!”
He felt his heart beat faster as he doubled over in pain, but he trusted the killswitch he had modded onto his belt would work if he went too far. In his hand was a cartridge that glinted gold, and when he activated it, he silently plead for it to work.
“Hyper Muteki!”
He ignored the game start music, pushing himself to stand so he could dock it onto the larger cartridge. Clenching his armored fist, he pressed down on Hyper Muteki’s button.
“Engag-g-g-g-“
Suddenly, he felt the data around him break away, an alarm ringing in his ear as the killswitch engaged. He fell to his hands and knees, panting, and punched the cground. He was so close, but it had failed. After his breathing steadied, he picked the cartridges up, and went back to his computer, looking at the data. What he saw surprised him.
It had worked. But it needed more power, more code. But it had worked.
He stayed up late into the night, modding in a new feature. It wouldn’t be as effective, but it would work.
Hyper Muteki was gone. Maximum Mighty X sat where it had been left, with Yuki’s Drive. But missing with it was his new Driver and Gashat, as well, in addition to Drago Knight Hunter Z, Taddle Quest, and Mighty Action X. His cry of anguish was loud, but he didn’t care. He was going to find them, no matter what.
Nobody stole his research from him. And he knew he would get it back.
They hadn’t expected to see what they did when turning the corner, hearing the cries for help and sound of fire crackling. Their eyes grew wide at the sight of the humanoid creature, the beast’s attention now on them, and breath hitched in their throat. It couldn’t be, this was…
“You’re… The last boss of…”
“Drago Knight Hunter Z. A game you took from me. A game I spent long on, and am now reclaiming.”
If seeing Wyvern wasn’t enough of a shock, the person standing before Yuuki now certainly was. His old mentor, and employer at Muteki Corperation. The man who had allowed the Heartless onto his world, on a whim. The man who had cost his friend his life.
But something was different. He didn’t wear the suit he typically did, but more casual wear, and his eyes shone a bring silver instead of their normal green. His grin was wide, and his look seeming excited, where he was formerly composed.
“Virus, you-“
“No, Yuuki. I abandoned that name when I abandoned my former life. In the darkness, I found something greater, a great oblivion worthy for a man of my talents. No, no man. I have transcended beyond that.”
Yuuki shook their head, fists clenched.
“You’ve some nerve, coming here to mock-“
“I told you, I have no desire to mock you. I came for my research back.”
And, from behind him, he pulled out the missing Driver and Gashats, holding them up for Yuuki to see. Drago Knight Hunter Z was missing, but it was obvious where it was, thanks to Wyvern being there.
“I must say, for an incomplete Gashat, I am impressed with the progress on your new project. Invincible… You were hoping this would have a way to cure you. How cute. But all you did is give me what I need from you. Fortunately, I left you a way to fight, I do hope you use it.”
Yuuki’s spirits fell as his old friend laughed manically, cruelty ringing forth. He held up the white Gashat, looking down at it, before he looked back up and stored it in his pocket. Instead, from his jacket, he produced the larger Gashat left to him, coaxing a smirk from Virus.
“How bold of you. Very uncharacteristic, but bold. This will be fun, but please, don’t break yourself too much.”
Wyvern took the Driver offered to him as the older man produced his own Gamer Driver. There was a brief moment of silence before each Gashat activated, one with a button, and one with a gear.
“Mighty Action X!”
“Taddle Fantasy!”
Virus, on the other hand, had bigger plans, and in his free hand, held the gold Gashat that he had stolen.
“Upon the ascension of a mortal to godhood, a new name is chosen for that individual. I have cast away the title of Virus. Now… I am Glitch, Heartless of the man you once knew. Kneel before your God, Tenjuuku Yuuki.”
“Hyper Muteki!”
Yuuki gulped, especially as he saw the Fantasy Gamer AI circling him, its data crackling with remnants of the virus. But this man had to be stopped, no matter the cost. He wanted the pleasure of breaking his mask in.
It was all Yuuki could do to grit his teeth and fight through the pain as he gripped his sword, the jingle of Hyper Muteki taunting him with each step. Virus – no, Glitch – waved off Wyvern, as he stepped forward, and before Yuuki could blink, he has before the youth, lifting them by their armor. They dropped the sword, taking his arm, but Glitch just laughed.
“Why would you try and fight me when I’m using something that makes you invincible? Are you that st-“
Glitch paused, as the music stopped.
“Time up!”
“Because… It wears off.”
Glitch barely had time to see the runes form around him before the magic of Taddle Fantasy burst forth, knocking him from side to side, and Yuuki fell back, struggling up as he held his hand forth, continuing the onslaught of magic. Every strike caused a splitting pain through his skull, but he powered through it, pummeling the other man with spell after spell. Fire, ice, arcane energy, the whole nine yards. The Life Gauge on Glitch’s chest had nearly depleted when Yuuki fell to their knee, breath heavy.
They had done too much. The virus was too strong, and as they looked down, the sparks on their armor danced around. Had it been too much? All they knew is they had to cancel the transformation, but that was a death wish. Fantasy Gamer would kill them, or Glitch would. Unless…
While Glitch had also fallen to a knee, Yuuki forced themselves to stand, and magic took hold again – but this time, the observing Wyvern was caught off guard as the prototype Driver flew towards the youth, and they grabbed it from air, shedding Taddle Fantasy. The armor faded, and they wasted no time taking the white Gashat in their belt, plugging it into the prototype Driver.
Glitch looked up, laughing, and waved a finger at Yuuki.
“That Driver doesn’t even work for you. I saw the data. What do you think I can accomplish?”
Yuuki’s grin threw Glitch off guard.
“For non-virus users, it can be used to transform. But it is a device I was using to collect samples of the Muteki Virus, to finish Hyper Muteki. But… Maybe this will work too.”
They turned the Driver, and faced the gun side towards themselves, placing it on their chest. With a cry, Glitch and Wyvern watched as the Virus drained from their body, into the Gashat that was plugged into it, and the Virus Driver spoke.
“Install complete.”
With a shudder, and a relieved sigh, Glitch witnessed the youth stand up, and remove the white Gashat from the teal driver.
“You… Planned this?”
“No. But a good scientist always improvises. Dangerous Zombie was missing the last bit of data it needed, and I thought it hopeless without Aku’s help. You killed him, you took that, but I realized when the Virus got too strong what it needed. Zombies themselves are a virus, and instead of succumbing to it, I can weaponize it in this. That is why Aku made it. Now you’ll fall by the fruits of h-“
“Shut up!”
Glitch pushed up off the ground, slowly rising, as he reached his hand out, the other drawing a black Gashat from his belt.
“Don’t speak to me like that, unworthy mortal. Your lives were all a part of my game, and I won. Save yourself the hassle and die peacefully. It would be so much easier.”
“No chance. I’m the last one standing in your way.”
“Dangerous Zombie!”
“Shakariki Sports!”
Briefly, Yuuki hesitated. It was a prototype version, but Glitch knew Aku used Shakariki Sports often. His guise as Mighty, his words, his choice in Gashats. It was all a mental game. One he wouldn’t fall for. Still, when Wyvern stepped forward, he gulped.
He really was on his own.
“Proceeding to unknown level.”
“Level X-3. One more time?”
“Level up! Danger, danger! Death and crisis, Dangerous Zombie.”
As the unfamiliar armor formed about Yuuki, they could feel a strange sensation around them, almost… Warmer. It was ecstatic, it was raw, primal.
It was instinct. There were no swords, no weapons. Only their hands, and the target.
“So hot, Shakariki Sports.”
Glitch wasted no time on the attack, rushing in. The unconventional bike armor was forgone for the flywheels, striking at the white armor of Yuuki. The youth retaliated in kind, ducking under blows that could be missed, striking back with hits and punches. It was a dance of anger and destruction, but when Wyvern came in, Yuuki suffered a hard hit.
Glitch laughed loudly as Yuuki fell, but was shocked when a black mist formed around them, and they rose again, unmarked. He took a step back, hands clenched.
“Impossible. That should have-“
“I’m a zombie now. You can’t kill what’s dead.”
With a cry, Glitch pulled Shakariki Sports from his belt, and slotted ti into the Critical Belt. Wyvern dragged its sword through the dirt, and red flames surrounded it. For the first time, it spoke.
“Secret technique. Red Dragon Breaker!”
“Final attack! Shakariki Critical Strike!”
Yuuki emulated his old mentor, a grown escaping his lips.
“Dangerous Critical Dead!”
The two adversaries began to charge in, but were stopped by shadows rising from the ground, grabbing them. Glitch looked up to see Yuuki standing there, arms crossed, and truggled, until they saw the faltering.
The shadows disappeared as the youth collapsed, killswitch disengaging their transformation. They were panting heavily, and wiped blood from the corner of their mouth where it had formed.
Glitch was going to waste no time in finishing them, but a sudden blaster shot hit the side of his helmet, and he stumbled back.

From around the corner stood what one could only call a mirror image of the armored form of Glitch yet this one was clearly different in color palette. Purple, black, and silver adorned it as it held the metaphorical over sized gun in its hand. "Isn't it obvious? When a god plays naughty a demon needs to put it in its place." Unseen due to the helmet Aku gagged a little as the words left his mouth. He was not one to make quick jabs like that, that was more Yuuki's area of expertise outside of making games and heroes.
Before the man he used to work under could retaliate he fired more shots wildly at their legs before taking a cartridge from his belt and slipping into a slot int he back of the gun.
FINISHING MOVE!
The side of the gun unfolded over the barrel and created a longer one as a small sight popped up on the top of the gun and he looked through it, placing the reticle over the dragon creature's arm that held its weapon. If he remembered correctly the way to gain an advantage on a boss in Drago Knight was to aim for weak spots that make it weaker. Hopefully the same principle was accurate in this situation as he pulled the trigger.
BANG BANG CRITICAL FINISH!
The barrel sparked as a long stream of energy fired from the gun, whizzing past Glitch and nearly blowing off Wyvern's arm as his weapon disintegrated into pixels. As the boss reeled back in pain Aku rushed Glitch and pulled a feint punch as he ripped the golden cartridge from his possession and placed himself between them and Yuuki, "So much for you being a hero if you can't even keep your cool in a simple boss encounter. Rpg tatics are just not your strong suit." The black hero said as his head turned slightly so a large cartoon-ish eye was visible to Yuuki, under it Aku smiled at the sight of his co-worker as the two enemies before them regained their composure.
