My characters Saxen and Deathblade wouldn't necessarily join, but they would be willing to go on missions for the guardians when needed. I don't know if that helps or not. Right now, though, they're stranded on Radiant Garden...

It would still be pretty helpful, as they can be used as 2 individuals or as one pretty strong fighter. It allows for a good deal of flexibility.
