Name:Tristan Steele
Nickname(optional):Tris, Spark
Age:26
Gender: Male
Species:Human
Position: None / Good
Power(s):Tris is gifted with the powers of darkness, due to his biological mother being one of the evil witches of The Wastes.
Because Tris grew up in the home of an engineer, he too learned how to work with machines at a young age. He learned he could use magic young in life, and developed magical abilities that helped him become a better engineer.
::Magic::
Libra: Using this, Tris can scan anything and determine what it’s made out of, what its weakness is, where its weakest and strongest point is, and other facts, such as weight, dimensions, and chemical makeup.
Reflect: This is the first spell Tris ever learned, and it was when he was transporting a small, fragile device his adoptive father built, when halfway to his destination he dropped the device and in a moment of panic, used reflect to protect the small device from falling. It took him about a full year to be able to cast the spell at will. Now, he is proficient enough in the spell to be able to cast it in a sphere around his body, allowing him to shield himself from attacks and spells.
Magnet: A spell Tris learned from playing with a bunch of magnetic rocks that are numerous in The Wastes. While the typical Magnet spell used by other mages is used to draw together minor enemies or for acts similar, Tris only uses his spell to draw together metal objects. In combat, Tris can use it on people using metal weapons to cause them to become magnetized and harder to use, seeing as how they will now cling to any nearby metal (I.e. the fighter’s armor or other weapons)
NOTE: This spell does not affect Keyblades
Dark: By sacrificing a small portion of his life force, Tris can summon a sphere of darkness to launch at his foes. It is a powerful spell, but takes a heavy toll on Tris, including speeding up the rate that the Soul Eater curse takes him over.
::Physical::
Shockwave: By using his large hammer and slamming it into the ground, Tris can create a small shockwave strong enough to knock smaller enemies off their feet and temporarily stun medium to large enemies.
The Soul Eater: This isn’t ability as much as it is a curse. Because Tris’ mother was a cruel wish, when he was born she placed a curse on him in the form of a small mark on the back of his neck. The mark is the shape of an eye, and it is filled with dark magic. Every time Tris casts a spell, the mark on the back of his neck grows, eventually covering his entire body except his face. When this happens, Tris loses his sense of self and becomes a dangerous weapon of darkness. While in the Soul Eater form, Tris’ speed is increased, he cannot cast spells, and he cannot speak. While active the soul eater slowly drains his health until Tris is too weak to move and collapses, the mark retracts back to its usual spot and releases his hold on Tris. With luck and training, Tris may one day be able to control the deadly soul eater curse.
Weapon(s):Oberion: A large black and brass hammer that Tris’ adoptive father used to used for pounding out large sheets of metal. When Tris decided to leave his home, his adoptive father gave it to him to keep his safe.
God hide Gloves: a pair of white and silver gloves made from a rare material that is as hard as steel, but moves and acts like silk. They were a gift from his adoptive mother when he started working as an engineer with his father.
Picture(optional): Appearance:Normal: Tris is tan from his days of working out in the sun, and his arms are covered in scars from his metal work with his adoptive father. He is strong for his size, but then again, someone that lived in The Wastes all their life has to be.
The boy is tall, taller than most people standing at 6’2’’. His black hair is left short, but rather messy, though it is usually contained under his costume welding mask (a metal mask that looks like a robotic face)which only ever sits atop his head. His face is handsome and has some stubble along his chin. His eyes are a brilliant blue and burn with a fire that thirsts for adventure.
Tris wears the same thing he always wore when he was at home in The Wastes, a pair of pants made out of tough fabric. Around his middle, as well as his wrists and ankles, he wears a few pieces of metal armor, which are pretty important when working in his adoptive father’s workshop with all the odd machines that sit about. His large boots add an additional 2 inches onto his height, making him slightly more intimidating than normal. He wears a pair of thin gloves that are made from a magic material that makes then tough as metal.
On the back of Tris’ neck he has a curse mark in the shape of a red and black demon eye.
Soul Eater Appearance: Tris’ skin becomes covered in a black and red color, with lines of red and black prying at the edges of his face. His eyes burn a hungry red.
Personality:Tris is a friendly person, always willing to help those around him. He is overly protective of his friends and companions. When something is going on, Tris is very attentive, making sure to pay attention to even the smallest detail. His years of engineering had taught him to be critically observant.
Tris has a tendency to be a little too trusting, normally giving people the benefit of the doubt, a trait that many people take advantage of, but this doesn’t change the boy’s view, and he continues to be as trusting as always.
When it comes to jokes, Tris is always quick to laugh, even if he doesn’t fully understand the punch line, and he has a tendency to make lame jokes from time to time.
Original World:The Wastes
Current Residing World:Radiant Garden
History/Background:Tris was born in The Wastes to a witch living there out of exile. His mother was insane and completely senile by the time he was born, magic had forced her to lose her mind, and on the day of his birth, she unwittingly cursed him with a Soul Eater, a mark that thrives off of magic.
During her travels through the Wastes, Tris’ mother came across a small village in the Wastes and she left the baby boy on the door step of one of the houses in the town.
The family within took in the boy and raised him as their own. His new father taught him the ins and outs of engineering, while his new mother taught him how to be a kind and loving person and his numerous brothers and sisters always kept him company. All these things ensured Tris grew up a strong, healthy, and overall well mannered man.
One day, while working with his Father in the shop, Tris had to carry a fragile piece of equipment across the town to a blacksmith’s shop, during his small delivery route, he tripped and fell, the piece fell from his hands and just before it connected with the ground, he instinctively called out one word – “Reflect!” Around the piece of equipment a sphere of hexagons appeared, protecting the item from certain destruction.
Since that moment, Tris knew he was different from the regular people he lived with. He began to explore his new found powers and learned he was capable than much more than a simple shield. He could attract metal with his hands, he could analyze something just by glancing at it, and a few other things. However, one day while working in the shop, he was using his powers to clean up loose screw and metal shavings when all the sudden he lost control of his self and almost wrecked the entire shop. It took his dad and three other men to pin him down and subdue him. Not understanding what happened, his family too the boy to a witch that lived on the outskirts of their shanty town. After a few hours, the witch explained that the boy was curse and it would take a mage of much greater power than her to remove the curse.
Being the son of a engineer that lived in the middle of The Wastes, Tris hadn’t the resources, much less the ability to leave home to travel and search for a mage, that may or may not exist.
Life continued as normal until one day Tris’ father brought home a rare material. It was extremely malleable, but somehow, hard as iron and steel. His dad said he found the strange material at a crater were a meteor had struck days before.
The finding of the new material gave Tris and his father an idea. They could build a ship to sail across the blackness of space using this material and whatever they had.
Tris’ first gummiship was complete two years later. It was a shotty little thing, but it worked, and that was the important part. A month after the ships completion, Tris decided to leave the planet in search of his cure. Both his parent’s were very supportive and his father even gave Tris Oberion, his father’s beloved hammer.
After lengthy goodbyes and good wishes, Tris climbed into the gummiship and headed off into space.
Role Playing Sample:The blackness around him was utterly silent. It was unusual to him compared to the normal noises he heard on a day to day basis back at home on The Wastes. A small pang of guilt in his heart resonated through him as he thought of leaving his family for seemingly selfish reasons, but he didn’t have much of a choice. If he didn’t get help, his curse would consume him and make him into a pawn of darkness.
The cry of a warning siren ripped Tris from his memories. The monitor in front of him began to fill with warning signs and flashes. Suddenly, as if out of nothing, before the ship appeared a planet. A smile crossed Tris’ face and the warning sirens and lights died down, leaving the boy in silence once more.
With quick fingers, Tris researched the planet he was about to land on. From what he could tell, and if the database was correct, this was a place called Radiant Garden. Hopefully he could find what he was looking for here.
As his ship approached the planet, the sirens went off once more. Alarmed, Tris read the screen in front of him, trying to determine the source of the alarm. According to the ship’s sensors, there was a large object on a collision course with them. Tris didn’t have much practice flying and barely managed to avoid contact with the asteroid. His ship, critically damaged, crashed onto the planet’s surface in a large canyon. Collecting what he could from the wreckage, the traveler walked towards the castle, which he figured was the correct was to get to civilization.
Upon reaching the outer gates of Radiant Garden, Tris was amazed at the city. He never imagined such an amazing site, and with much excitement and eagerness he charged into the town square, smiling at all the people in amazement. With a small shake of his head, he brought his thoughts back on track. Right now he needed to find someplace to get supplies to repair his ship, then he could look around.
With his mind set on his goal, Tris headed off towards the inner city, hoping to find a store to sell him wares and material. He had a long day ahead of him.
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? Hi there, this is my first character attempt, hopefully he seems ok…
I don’t know what you’re going to think about the Soul Eater curse…from what I could tell when I made Tris, he seems more defense and supportive than actually offensive, so I hoped that giving him the curse mark which doubles as a form will balance him out a bit.
Let me know if there is anything I need to fix
EDIT: I added a Dark spell. If I need to work on that particular spell more (as in work out some more defining mechanics for it) let me know. Thank you.
EDIT 2: Changed name to Tristan Steele since there is another Vincent in the rp already... >_> Hopefully the last of my own edits.
