In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Akira's eyes were slightly opened to see the actions Jason and the other man started to do. The man was the first to attack the Heartless. He lowered Jason cautiously and walked to the Heartless, which slowly progessed into jogging, than sprinting, than running. He jumped on some nearby rocks and leaped on the arm of the Heartless. He ran up to it's shoulder, and kicked near it's, or what it looked like, hair.
He was now spinning in the Heartless' face. He lifted his right hand and pointed it towards the Heartles.
"Guard Light!"
The man then released an enormous light towards it, similiar to how Jason attacked the other Heartless a little while ago. It's head was now gone, but it slowly began to create another using it's darkness. Akira was still lying in it's hand, it's hold only slightly loosening up. But than, Jason threw a staff at it's hand and had it started to attack it like a sword. Being battered by the staff, the Heartless dropped Akira abruptly and started swinging at it.
But Jason's staff quickly soared under Akira and flew him safely to the ground. But even though he was saved from the fall, he was still harmed by the clutch of the Heartless. Reluctantly, he lifted Empty Space to the sky while panting rapidly.
In the spaces of his deep breaths he spoke in a hoarse voice, "S-Summoner's Parade!"
Behind him countless white clouds appeared and different monsters came out of them. There were Bombs, Cockatrices, and Goblins, there was roughly about two dozen of each. The monsters began to run towards the Heartless. The Cockatrices pecked it while the Goblins stabbed it's feet and legs and the Bombs just slammed their bodies onto it's, exploding soon after. Luckly none of them attacked Akira, Jason or the other man, probably because the Heartless was much bigger and more noticable than the other three.

Tiny critters and monsters scattered about at the feet of the Darkside, assaulting. It was a hell of a spectacle, and certainly the first of a kind that Rook had never witnessed before. It took a moment of him staring vacantly at the insanity before he realized the gargantuan Heartless was still up and kicking. It had taken a beating, but it wasn't down for the count yet. And Akira wasn't in the best of shape and Jason was still exhausted.
He held out his hand as if grasping something, fingers tensing as if he expected something to appear.
Nothing.
He tried again. Again. And again. Nothing. Clenching his eyes with a sad look plastered over his face, he let out a loud groan of disappointed frustration, then held his hand up clenched it into a fist with a visible huff of effort. It ignited, glowing with the Light of his secondary attack, the Five-Card Stud, the power of the Guard Light wrapped around his fist for a melee attack. Taking a deep breath, he let it out slow, then charged the Darkside again, leaping over the summoned monster army and, with an echoing battlecry, flung himself into an uppercut aimed square at the Heartless' gut.

Several things occuring at once, and it made it hard for the nobody to pay close attention to all his surroundings. First started Akira who had used his own limit break upon the darkside, summoning creature after creature to attack the creature of darkness. As this attack continued, he looked over to Rook who seemed to be grabbing at the air. From what he had seen from Sora and the other keyblade wielders, Jason could only guess that he was grabbing to try and summon his keyblade. However, it was hard to tell. Whatever it was that he was doing, it didn't work, and Rook soon stopped. His fist then started to shine with light as he charged toward the Darkside and aimed an uppercut toward the creature.
Jason continued to walk forward as twin staves swung around him. One was defending him from the attacks of the heartless, the other attacking the heartless around him. But he paid no attention toward the heartless that surrounded him, only paying attention to the giant darkside before him. Creatures rampaged around him from Akira's attack. A giant hole was now where Rook had uppercut him, a hole below the heart shaped hole that is on all Darksides. But Jason knew that this one was stronger then the last. He would have to help as well.
"Sin reya cari tan dorei sai shera mast banto. Mis cante era liamo niferta, sin reya nurate sando!" He chanted, speaking back in his native language, the ancient language that adorned his staff and was in his journals and books. In terms of translations, Jason had truly said 'The light is strong within when faced with a creature of darkness. And now in this time of peril, the light shall now obliterate it!' And so as he did this, his hand shot forward with his crystal ball. Throughout the incantation, he started to glow with a bright light, surrounding his entire being. And as he finished it, the light quickly shot to the crystal ball before shooting out toward the Darkside.
The light quickly shot inside the heart shaped hole of the darkside before filling the hole up with light. With a quick motion from his crystal ball, the Darkside stopped all attacks. Suddenly, beams of light shot through his its body from the light filling the hole. Jason's eyes started to glow white with a bright light as he continued to walk forward, getting closer and closer to the darkside. Jason closed his eyes at this time as he continued to walk. As he did this, flashbacks of all the people he had helped in the past, including Gozo, Fearon, Alael, Josh, Rook, Akira, and even the people who he had met only briefly. But after these had flashed through his head, Jason remembered all the people who were threatening the worlds. The villains of the many worlds flashed through his head, and knew that his time was not done. The twins that rested in his Lab were next to show through. And finally... His heartless...
When he opened his eyes again, he looked to the darkside first and then to Rook and Akira. A nod of his head came, more emotionless then he had ever been in the past. He was trying to tell them to attack next. They would land the final blows on this Darkside this time. But his eyes continued to glow bright white. He could feel something changing inside, but he wasn't quite sure what at the moment. It wouldn't be much longer before he would be able to return to being human once more....
Akira didn't think his summon would help defeat a monstrous-sized Heartless, but it actually helped quite alot. He looked over at Rook, to see how he was doing, and noticed him trying to... Grab something? Well, even though he tried, nothing was in front of him. Was he... Hallucinating? He looked back at the Heartless.
It had wiped out the remainder of Akira's monsters. He looked at Jason, who was walking normally again, and seemed to be using his powers to have his staves block upcoming attacks from the Shadows crawling around him.
Phew, good thing he's better.
Akira always thought Jason was like that, even though he just met him. One of those cool, emotionless guys you see in those animes all the time. But Jason was only half that, he wasn't stubborn like the characters on those shows. He snapped out of his childish cartoon thoughts and looked at the Heartless.
He looked below the Heartless' hollow heart emblem and said, "Wh-What the heck happened?"
Akira was had his attention at the large diagonal hole on the Heartless, until he heard Jason say something.
"Sin reya cari tan dorei sai shera mast banto. Mis cante era liamo niferta, sin reya nurate sando!"
Jason sent his crystal ball inside the Heartless' chest emblem, and than he created pure light energy from it! A cold sweat ran down Akira's cheek as he nervously chuckled at the two.
Mental note: Never piss these guys off.
He looked at Jason, who was getting closer and closer to the Heartless. He nodded silently at Akira and the other man. Akira knew what to do next. He mustered all the strength he had left, and ran up a large rock, pointing out towards the Heartless. He flipped in the air, and raised the Empty Space to the darkened sky once more.
He said, "Help us."
A white cloud appeared in front of Akira's chest, and a Tonberry once again came to fight for him. He grabbed the still shocked Tonberry, and he begun to anticipate his toss. The Tonberry got more and more nervous.
"...W-Wait...!" It scrambled.
But Akira had gotten carried away from the fight, and launched the Tonberry straight towards the Heartless' face, with much more power because of the toss. Akira was surprised how it slightly stumbled to the opposite direction the Tonberry came from. It was probably still weak from both Jason and the other man's attack. The Heartless was nearly finished now, all that had to be done was the man to finish it off. Akira let himself fall the short distance, and slam back near the hut.

The Darkside was on the defense now, heavily, even mortally wounded by Jason's Light assault and Akira's summons legion. It wavered, and Rook craned his head upwards at the oversized Heartless' massive frame. From his position underneath and in front of it, he raised his hand once more, taking another deep breath.
"Guard Light."
He fired again, a bursting pulse of Light firing from his open palm, striking the Darkside in the chin, and thrusting it backwards and too the ground, where it fell with a resounding crash that shook the land. The darkness of it began to leak away as it faded into nothing, dark wisps and tendrils kicking about in the Heartless' final death thralls, dying in the wake of their three-man onslaught.
Rook fell to a knee, exhaling sharply in his exhaustion. It had been far too long since he had seen that level of combat. The usual Shadows and Neo-Shadows that roved the Maw were no threat to him, even in small to medium packs, and they rarely collected in larger groups than that.
He clenched his right hand, the light still disappating from it, smoking like the empty barrel of a recently-fired cannon. He wouldn't tell anyone, especially Jason, but it stung terribly. Likely a side-effect of his time in the Darkness.
And for the first time in a long time, Rook could feel that he was going to be pulled away from his self-cut swath of land once more, brought headlong into a fight he had so hungrily craved until it chewed him up and spat him out. Now, finally willing to set to sleep his urge to fight, he knew he never would fully know that peace. He wasn't even sure he could survive what the crystal ball had shown him anymore...

[AH! DON'T KILL ME!!!]
As the Tonberry was thrown by Akira, and the Guard Light was used by Rook, the Darkside fell back, wisps of darkness coming off of it as it started to disappear. Jason's hand shot forward toward his Crystal Ball as he said "Sin banto iera hurao, cante kiarela sin reya!" This chant was one used before, meaning 'The darkness that is strong, Now be absorbed by the light'. The Crystal ball shown with a bright light that caused the many shadows to return to darkness. The light soon blinded all in the area before returning to the Crystal ball, the rocky area now empty with the exception of Jason, Akira, and Rook. Jason fell to one knee as the Crystal ball shot back toward his hand, still glowing.
As he peered into the misty haze, he noticed the giant heartless in it. "Number 41... Absorbed...." As he said this, Jason fell to a knee, his eyes losing the bright white glow, and quickly pocketing his Crystal ball before it fell from his hand. He then fell all the way down, feeling wisps of silver start to fade from his body. He gasped slightly, knowing this having happened to the members of Organization XIII when their time had come. But it didn't last. After a short bit, the wisps stopped disappearing, and he just laid there, exhausted and out of energy. It took so much effort just to try and sit up, and even then, he couldn't stay up for long.
He looked over to Akira and then to Rook and offered a small smile, one of no emotion. Akira did not yet know the truth, but he would tell him. He had to. The two were now friends, and it would take full trust for anything to work out for the best. But he was in no mood to speak or do anything. For the first time in a long time, Jason was completely spent and needed to meditate and relax for a while before he was ready to do anything else. Finally gaining enough strength, Jason got himself against a rock and closed his eyes. The other two probably were in just as bad shape as he was. But at least the threat was gone for now. He just was unsure as to what would happen next. If any more heartless came, there would be no hope for the three of them. They had used too much energy fighting two darksides. Now its a matter of recuperation and figuring out their paths.
Another Heartless... another Darkside... gone. Rook didn't know much of himself anymore. He didn't remember a lot of his past, but he was certain that there was a resilience in himself that kept him going. And it showed once more. Sharply inhaling to gather his strength, he managed to his feet, slowly dragging himself towards Jason, and pulled his arm over his shoulder, hefting Jason to his feet.
Rook returned the smile, and led him towards his lean-to, setting him down on the small dingy mattress that served as Rook's sole piece of bedding, before plopping down on the ground beside him, right hand to his side. "...So... what now?"
Post by Jason Arilani on May 1, 2011 19:45:47 GMT -4
[Sorry Akira. I know real life pulled you away, but we can always Roleplay with you when you get back.]
As Jason was pulled up to his feet by Rook, he slowly walked, one hand draped across Rook's shoulder, the other holding his staff and using it almost like a walking stick. The twin staves finally shot back to his main staff and returned from three to one. As they rejoined the main staff, the black writing of chants reappeared. He then continued with Rook, feeling weaker then ever before after having used so much energy on this one fight. But it was worth it to protect Rook.
Finally making it back to Rook's lean-to, Jason was set down on the piece of bedding while Rook sat down on the ground. Shallowed breaths came from Jason as he heard Rook ask him what now. Jason shook his head. "Hard to say. But I know for a fact that you have yet to explain yourself in your absence, nor do I know the reasoning behind you working with Marluxia. From what i saw from that attack by Maleficent, Marluxia took you away and when you came back, you were working with him. Perhaps we could start with a bit of explanations, and then we can figure out what else to do." He said as his hand went into his pocket and grabbed the Crystal ball.
The misty haze of the Crystal ball was shown at first before showing him the images that appeared in his head during that last fight. It certainly was strange, but there was little he could do now. He would need to get back into his lab before becoming a human again, and to do that, he would need more help. Last to be shown was Destiny Islands. A small cafe was shown to him and he knew that was where he had to go next, either with or without Rook. But he would wait for the the explanation to finish before he started out to the islands.
The redhead winced slightly as partial flashes of memory pushed through Rook's mind's eye. Very little of it was connected and concise. Small flickers of images and tidbits of past events caught his eye. "I... don't really remember it all anymore..."
He took a breath and let it out slow, closing his eyes behind a veil of red hair. "I see... Kairi--no... N-nnamine... Marluxia threatened her... said he'd hurt her if I didn't listen to him. That she was part of Kairi. I couldn't let him..."
He shook his head, trying to move past. So much fog in his head... "Then... he made me a part of the Organization... his apprentice. Fed Darkness into my Heart. Every time I tried to get stronger, it was harder and harder to turn away... and then one day I didn't care."
His hand ran through his hair, gripping slightly as if he were trying to pull the memories out of himself, "The Hades Cup... The... the Hades Cup... Lexaeus... one of the strongest Nobodies, I fought him to a draw because of all my new Darkness, and I thought I could finally help Namine, and Kairi...and you... and... and..."
It was gone. She was important to him and he knew it. Why couldn't he give her a name or picture her face?
He shuddered and retracted into himself, tensing as the thought evaded him again. His fist clenched tightly and raised it, threatening to drive it through the wall as he growled, but he caught himself, taking a staggered breath. His hand lowered. But she was still a mystery.
"I... just fell into the Dark in me... and it took away my memories. I can barely remember anything without haveing to try so hard... all this, all I told you... it's all I've been able to remember after all this time." He sighed, pointing to a pile of scrap paper with numerous badly-drawn doodles of his memories on them. "And then one day, I as back here. In the maw. I was falling, and I landed right back on my home, and I've been here since..."

Jason sat down on the bedding, clutching at his chest after he put the Crystal ball back into his trenchcoat. As he looked to Rook as he explained his story, Jason couldn't help but wonder at the wave of emotion that ran over Rook as he had to explain this past that he could barely piece together. It was times like these that Jason wondered when he would have the ability to truly feel, to cry, to laugh, to smile, to love.... Love was something that Jason did not even truly know as a human from long ago. He kept to his lab most of the time and as such, never really met someone he truly loved. So as Rook explained a girl that he could not remember, Jason closed his eyes and started trying to warp his mind, unlocking a new power he could use to help.
Before closing his eyes, he noticed the raising of the hand and almost punching the wall, But he closed his eyes before seeing the result. From the lack of a smack against the wall, he figured that Rook had restrained himself. And as he looked around the inner recesses of his mind that he was gifted with as a Nobody, he warped his power of Mind-Reading to use it in a different way. But in order to make sure that he knew this would work, he would have to test it out with Rook. He just hoped he had enough strength. But even if he didn't, he would at least be able to give Rook a chance to see who it was that he loved.
As Rook pointed to the drawings that he had poorly done in trying to remember some about his past, Jason looked to them and wondered what went through Rook's head as he did this. But all of it soon led straight back to this small hut. Jason stood up and looked at his friend directly in the eyes. "It is... difficult, to truly understand what it is that you are going through. For over 1000 years, I have not been able to feel emotion. I fake it in what I can remember from the past. But your memories.... They are all still there. Darkness can hide most things, but you would not be standing before me if not for the light in your heart. And it is there that we will find your memories that are locked deep within." He said, pulling his crystal ball out once more.
As he looked into the misty haze of his crystal ball, Jason slowly let his eyes close. As he did so, a picture appeared for both him and Rook to see as an image appeared of Jason and Rook standing exactly as they were now. Suddenly, Jason opened his eyes and they were glowing a bright Silver color. "Rook... If you trust me, take the crystal ball and close your eyes. I will help you to peer far into your heart and maybe, just maybe... We can find out at least a name of this one you search for. I would like to believe that I have not steered you wrong before, but this choice is yours. If you take hold of the crystal ball, I can help you. If not, then so be it." He said, waiting for Rook to do what he felt was necessary.
Most likely, Rook would take it and when he would, a power would shoot through him as Jason's eyes would stare directly at Rook's heart as if he could peer right into it. Whatever memories would be revealed would be completely up to how much Rook trusted Jason. The more trust that he had in Jason, the further he could see into Rook's heart and the more would be shown in the Crystal ball to Rook as he would look into it to see what memories Jason would be capable of pulling out. As he did this, he felt a tremendous weakness in his body as he legs shook with pain. But it was worth it to help his friend. If he could only hold out for just a moment, maybe Jason could give Rook the answers he was looking for.
"Rook... If you trust me, take the crystal ball and close your ey--"
That was all Rook heard. That was all he needed to hear. Jason's crystal ball had pained him with his visions the last time he touched it. But Jason had been there for him time and again, fighting for his life alongside him. He reached out and took the ball.
And with it, with his touching the crystal ball, with all his trust, he showed Jason everything. Even all the things he couldn't even remember himself. Jason would soon know more about Rook than Rook knew about himself...
A loving mother and father; she, a writer. Calm, nuturing, a star-gazer who loved to think. He, a construction worker who would have done his job for free, quiet and friendly. Family dinners, playing with their only child and his best friend Eden, a neighbor boy who was strong-willed and loyal. He would have grown to be a teacher. A year older than Rook, and constantly showing him things that would often get them into an iota of trouble.
Until the Heartless came. Radiant Garden crumbled around them. His parents locked the redheaded boy in his room, surrounded by light, as they attempted to defend their home. He would never see them again.
Eden would find him two days later. Crying, alone, starving and afraid. And together the two would run from the city, living out in the rocky hills and crags outside the city limits, where the Heartless apparently felt no need to search. It wasn't habitable terrain. There, Eden would spend years with Rook, teaching him how to fight to defend himself. Sneaking into town just long enough to find food.
After some time, Rook began to break down. And Eden began to lie to him. He told Rook that "today was his birthday" even though neither of them knew what date it was anymore. He presented the younger boy with a deck of playing cards, and an oversized blue vest to compensate for his previous attire growing too small for him.
And then, the Darkside. Outpowered, outmatched, Eden pushed Rook to the ground and ran, yelling out. Rook bumped his head and fell unconscious. When he awoke, Eden was no where to be found. He would never see him again.
To Rook, he had been abandoned. The truth of he matter was that Eden had run to distract the Heartless, and as Rook slept, the Darkside took Eden away forever. And for another five years, Rook would be completely alone. Living in a shack he'd made against a hillside, scavenging for his food, playing with a deck of cards.
Until the day he met Jason.
Things would blur some. Kairi. Ren. Era. Sora. The King. Leon. Era. Marluxia. Ikari. Namine. Era.
Adventures he'd shared up until the Hades Cup. Until his foray into Darkness, spurned my Marluxia, swallowed him whole, and he disappeared into the black void. He had been lost. Entirely...
If not for the fact, that even in the blackest dark, all it takes is the smallest glimmer of light to be a saving grace.
"I suppose thanks is in order, mister .....?"
"I'm Era."
"Rook.. Rook, you've gotta fight through this! I'll fight for you, I promise. But only if you fight for me!"
"I'll do what you want, just don't hurt him..."
"Come back for me!"
And he did.
Out of his memories, back in the present, Rook didn't know why, but he was crying.

Jason could barely finish his first sentence before Rook had taken hold of his crystal ball and his eyes were closed. Jason's eyes, still glowing Silver, shot toward the ceiling as he seemingly relived parts of Rook's life. He saw Rook's parents, both loving and caring over their son, as well as another boy, a name revealed to be Eden. He then watched as Rook's life took a turn for the worse as the heartless came. His parents had locked him in a room surrounded by light and saw as the heartless took the hearts of his parents.
Two days passed before Eden had found Rook in the room, alone... Rook was crying, starving, and afraid of what had happened. The two moved from the town and ran for the area that he and Rook were in now. They lived there because the heartless would not look for hearts in the rocky out lands of Radiant Garden. They only snuck into town when they needed some food. Eventually, Eden gave a gift to Rook... A deck of cards that the two would be able to play with as well as a vest that was far too big for the younger Rook. But Tragedy struck Rook again.
Jason finally realized Rook's initial hesitation regarding a Darkside that they had fought in Traverse Town. A Darkside attacked the two boys and took the heard of Eden who had valiantly lured the heartless away from Rook to keep him safe. A self-less sacrifice for his best friend that could only cause him a lifetime of pain and spending time within the darkness. Rook was left alone once more to play with the cards that he had been given by his friend.
Things changed when Jason had come as Jason offered Rook a chance to finally leave this horrid life behind when taking him Traverse Town. From there, Rook had the chance to meet several people that Jason also knew. Kairi, Sora, The King, Namine, Leon, and Marluxia as well as others that he had not known. But a face flickered in the memories of Rook as he started to feel a strain on Rook's heart. He knew that this was becoming painful as he watched what had happened with Marluxia.
This person had apparently saved Rook from falling completely into Darkness and never returning. The person that Rook was so desperate to find now had a name... Era... It seemed that Era had given her life to Marluxia in order to save Rook, and Rook had made a promise to return and free Era. So now... Things had started to Change. Suddenly, Rook's hands left the Crystal ball as Jason fell backward onto the bed, his legs feeling as if they were about to break, and his entire being feeling weak.
Through Staggered breaths, Jason said "Much of your past... It was just shown to me. I see now.... why you didn't want to fight.... the darkside in Traverse Town... And... Her... This girl you wish to see...." Before he continued, he grabbed his staff and ran his hand down it. "The images within the orb, now be revealed to all!" As he said this, he thought of the picture of Era that he had seen in Rook's memories. Suddenly, a projected image of Era appeared in the hut.
"This...... Is Era...." He said as he fell all the way, no longer able to sit up as his eyes closed. The image remained for a little bit as he continued to think of her and allowing Rook to see what she looked like. But he was very weak and needed some strength. The image did not stay for too much longer as it soon faded and Jason, sub-consciously, returned his crystal ball to his pocket, allowing Rook to reflect on what he was just told. Jason needed a bit of rest before they could finally continue on their next course of action. He knew he needed to go to Destiny Islands and wondered if he would meet up with Era there. But he hoped Rook would stick with him for a bit and that he would be there when Rook had met up with Era once more.
Rook slowly rose to his feet, staring at the image that resonated through the room. Suddenly, things seemed to click into place, the holes in his memories, the gaps of missing information began to slip back in order.
"Era..." he let out, "That's her... that's her..."
His heart leapt to his throat, before the feeling vanished as fast as the image did. His tone dropped to a wary whisper. "Destiny Islands... that's where she is..."
Post by Jason Arilani on Jun 3, 2011 1:25:42 GMT -4
Jason, while in a semi-conscious state, managed to hear the words that came from Rook's mouth. When he had said that she was in Destiny Islands, Jason could not fathom how he had managed to realize that she was there. The fact that his crystal ball had showed him Destiny Islands and that he had just said that was more then just mere coincidence in his mind. But he rested for a moment more as he regained some strength.
After a few more moments of silence, other then shallow breathing from Jason, He finally sat back up on the mattress that lay in Rook's hut and looked toward his friend. "Now that you know her name once more, You wish to go to Destiny Islands, yes? It is not coincidence that you said she was on Destiny Islands. I looked upon my crystal ball before I had peered into your inner memories and it showed me Destiny Islands as my next destination. I would be happy to take you if you are ready to go. If not, let me know what you need to prepare." He said, standing once more, his staff being used as support as he wasn't at full strength yet. But that would come in time.
((So sorry. My muses have been completely AWOL and/or ADHD for the past few weeks. Coming out of finals and dealing with things around here has been rough on my creativity.))
The redhead nodded. The crystal ball had in fact shown him Destiny Islands. And it was because of it's inherent brightness that he had recoiled in pain and fear. It was unlike anything he had felt since returning from the void. But Era was there. And he had to find her. Moreso than his missing keyblade, he needed to know where she was.
He pulled his cloak around his shoulders once more, fearing what that light would do to him, and almost dreading the light that Era herself would show him. With a deep breath, he tried to calm and ready himself, nodding towards Jason.
