Name: Taryn Haldis Ende
Nicknames: Tarry and The End
Age: 12
Gender: Female
Species: Time Witch (Humanoid)
Position: Very Good. Future Castellan of Time.
Powers:Beating Time: By moving faster than time, Taryn can appear to be in two places at once, performing a different action in each location. She can use this ability even when frozen or stopped, and the second version of her will not be subject to the adverse effect. If her sword has already been readied, both actions can be attacks. However, Lady Ende cannot use this ability in successive posts, and if she has used it more than once in a scene, she will need to spend an additional post recovering without using any powers. Over time this ability may get more powerful.
Begin at the End: Taryn naturally speeds up when facing Invisibles, Angel Stars, Darksides, and Twilight Thorns. She also speeds up when the world around her is being destroyed (which is always the case at the End of the World). At such times she can easily evade and make two attacks each post without having to spend time to ready her blade.
Cold Fire: When her sword has been readied, T.H. Ende can fire a mote of white fire from it's tip which will streak towards whatever she has aimed it at. The flame burns cold and actually does light and ice damage, not fire damage. Lady Ende does not need to ready her sword again after using this power.
Free Time: Taryn can negate slow, stop, and doom effects with a touch.
Hard Time: Lady Ende can freeze time in an arc just past the end of her hand, creating a practically impassible barrier good for stopping a single attack. This barrier is stationary. Once T.H. Ende moves she will lose its protection.
Heart of a World: With great effort (and a round of preparation), Taryn can glow with the power of a world's heart. Lesser heartless and nobodies will be completely shredded by the light while greater heartless and nobodies will need to spend at least one post on the defensive. However, using this power leaves Lady Ende highly vulnerable, as she will not be able to use any powers for the remainder of the scene.
March of the Hour: Taryn can walk a path of darkness so long as she is wearing her white cloak, but she can only create them when there is a large clock at either end of her path. Because she is inexperienced in using the pathways, they tend to be long and meandering which is a problem because her natural light will cause any pathway of darkness she's on to deteriorate after one hour.
Time Lock: Twice per scene, Taryn can close the lanes between worlds. She must spend one post creating a phantasmagorical padlock in the sky, and then has up to three posts to cause it to descends upon the scene and snaps shut before it vanishes unused. Once locked, everything outside will appear to freeze, and no powers involving summoning, teleportation, or the paths of darkness may be used for the next 10 posts. However, someone with a keyblade can negate the entire effect with a single post by “unlocking” time.
Weapon:T. H. Ende carries around the sword of an Invisible, a type of heartless demon from The End of the World. The weapon is as tall as she is, and unless otherwise specified, she must spend at least one post readying the blade before each swing.
Appearance:Taryn is a waif of a girl who stands at just under 5' tall. Her pale skin has just the faintest hint of a blue tinge, making her natural beauty appear cold and distant. Gold lief covers her body in uneven patches, like some geological birthmark, and her poorly cut, bronze hair sticks out in uneven points and clumps. A single well maintained braid bound in gummi jewelry falls in front of her right ear, and since coming to the living world she has taken to painting her nails bronze. While most of her garments are dark blue and brown, she tends to cover them over with an opalescent white cloak which looks to be an inverted duplicate of the type worn by Organization XIII. And, of course, no description would be complete if it did not include the large blue sword she keeps strapped across her back whenever it's appropriate (and a few times when it isn't).
Personality:Taryn is insatiably curious about people who live in the natural flow of time, and has immersed herself in the living worlds in order to better observe them. She is especially curious about the keyblade wielder. Not only were they able to travel to The End of the World and survive, but they actually managed to temporarily reverse the process that would lead to the end of time.
She is nice, courteous, and just a bit flighty. It is her way of fighting off the melancholia that comes from knowing that she will be responsible for locking up the universe once time has ended. However, even she cannot hide the sadness that comes whenever she needs to confront a Darkside or Twilight Thorn, as she considers them to be her siblings.
Home World: End of the World
Current World: Twilight Town
History:Taryn was born from the heart of a dying world that would not abandon it's light. She grew up in desolate tidelands at The End of the World, observing the inexorable flow of worlds into oblivion, remembering their final champions and moments so that something of them might remain once the universe ends. It was a quiet existence and a depressing one, but the reassuring light of her friends, Evangeline, and the Blue Fairy, allowed T. H. Ende to keep her heart strong.
Over time, the light in Tarry's heart drew the attention of the Invisibles and Darksides that infest the End of the World, and she had to learn how to draw upon the flow of time to defend herself. In doing so Tarry learned of Ultimacia, a sister Time Witch who had been imprisoned in The End of the World to keep her from interfering with mortal affairs.
Many times Tarry considered visiting her “sister,” but the sleeping witch's power and malice were palpable forces that made Old Man Cernzebog seem like the very soul of philanthropy. Even so, T.H. Ende worried that her thoughts may have somehow drawn the sleeping woman's attention.
Thankfully, she was soon distracted by the arrival of a the Keyblade Masters. First came Ansem, a dark man who managed to sense Taryn's power, but considered it inconsequential before the sealed light of Kingdom Hearts. He was followed by King Mikey, whose pure heart called out to her own. Tarry instantly fell in love with his bravery and compassion, but could tell that his fate was intricately tied to that of the entire universe, and so the Time Witch remained at a safe distance, and watched as the hero fought his way through dying worlds, uniting their hearts as a beacon for those who would confront Ansem, and released the light within Kingdom Hearts to rebuild the lost worlds.
Rather than stay at the End of the World, Taryn allowed herself to get caught up in the reversed flow of time, so that she could live among mortals for a time and better understand their strength, bravery, and heroism.
Roleplaying Sample:“Eeeyaaah!” the pale young girl shrieks as she bursts outward from the clock face on the front of the Twilight Town train station. Streamers of darkness claw at her flapping white cloak, but eventually pull away as gravity proves to be the stronger force.
While falling the girl executes a curious flip in the air allowing her to unmount the long blue sword from her back and point it at the ground. White fire flares at the tip and shoots off ahead of her, doing nothing to slow her descent.
With a pout of frustration she flings out her other hand and yells, “STOP.” Something shimmers in the air ahead of her, strangely unchanging. The strange barrier shatters when she hits it, but it successfully breaks her fall just enough to prevent serious injury, the large sword falling to the ground beside her.
“Owww,” the piteous moan exaggerates the seriousness of the golden bruises forming on her shoulder side and ankle.
Before wallowing further in her pain, the Tarry sneaks a look upward to confirm that the path had indeed sealed itself properly behind her. Seeing the clock face in perfect condition, she goes back to gently rocking.
This world is warm, she thinks. Then,
It's not bound for the End of the World, either. I wonder where I am.
“Oh, hey, are you alright?” a large boy in a red sweatsuit asks with genuine concern as he jogs up to the curled girl. Tarry smiles, he has a good heart, she will remember him whether or not his world ends.
“Woah, this would make a wicked skateboard!” another, in cammo cutoffs comments as he looks down at the strangely shaped sword.
“Hayner, now is not the time,” a girl scolds from behind him, hands on her hips. “Can't you see that she's freezing.”
“What happened anyway?” the first boy asked.
The slip of a girl beams up at him, “I jumped.”
“No way!” the three cry in unison.
“Don't be silly, you'd be dead or something,” Hayner states with something between awe, disbelief, and injured pride.
“Yeah, but it was a lot of fun. But really, I'm alright, look.” The child stands up proudly but crumples with a wince as soon as the weight hits her injured ankle.
“Well, whatever you did,” the older girl replies, “you seem to have heart yourself pretty good. Let's get you to a hospital. Then we can figure out where your parents are. I'm Olette, by the way, and these are Hayner and Pence, what's your name?”
“Sure, I'm Taryn Ende.” Tarry agrees, easily enough, but her eyes turn sullen quickly as the three friends turn and get ready to depart. While the group was talking she noticed a silvery wisp circling at the edge of the shadows and light. Nobodies?
Tarry grabs the large blue sword off the ground and hefts it over her shoulders before climbing onto Pence's back.
These are good people, she decides,
I'll keep them safe until I'm ready to move onto another world.
