In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

It had been child's play, really. The scent of that tiny Devout girl... She smelled heavily of the Void. To think, it had been so simple to sew more magic into that tiny spot. Whoever had occupied it before had done well to keep things in check, but that hardly served her purpose. She hadn't thought, though, that it would have such a delicious outcome. Her trap hadn't even been laid for the girl.
One mindless puppet-- one "Heartless" creature... That was all it had taken to set her off. Such a volatile young thing... But why stop at one enemy? The Cloud of Darkness summoned more Shadows to the large pavilion. Then she sensed it-- a source of Darkness so strong, she knew she couldn't possibly control it. Disappearing into a Corridor of Darkness, she slipped out at the top of a staircase leading down into the square.
"How touching..." she said as two people came running to the girl's aid. "And so it is, that the valiant heroes come to rescue their distressed damsel. We are... unamused." Then she really smelled it. It was the boy--not the other Devout, but the one with raven hair. It was him. He was the overwhelming Darkness. "Oh, so you are the one..."

At first, Ienzo was worried. A Heart of Darkness made it so easy to get overwhelmed by the shadows, but the professionals normally kept it contained. Their emotions were void, leaving only the desire to feed. This kept a Heartless from going insane like the lesser creatures. But Ienzo almost let his fear slip as Maya looked at him.
It was like, at that one moment, she understood how horrible of a creature he was. He stepped back, his stance on edge, awaiting her next move. And as he did, he heard a woman's voice...
His silver eyes slid to the side, examining this new one. He really wasn't in the mood to play any games, but it seemed that every day had a heckler to knock on his door.
He had spoken too soon, and he knew it. There had been a small, yet subtle change of scent in the air. Being a slightly older Viera, and because of past experiences, Note had a much higher tolerance to the Mist than Maya did. The Viera came to a quick, yet graceful stop when he saw Maya lift herself from the ground—and vaporize a Heartless. He sucked in a breath. This was bad.
Very, very bad.
He held a hand out in front of Ienzo, an almost rather protective stance—he already saw the look in the young Mist frenzied Viera’s eyes.
He felt his claws lengthen—there was just so much…so much Mist! He felt the others presence before he even knew the cloud of Dark Mist was even there. An almost desperate look shot to Ienzo…he had been dealing with smaller, more impersonal issues in the past; though he couldn’t find it in himself to bring himself to fight Maya. Had he been the same Sky Pirate as he were years ago, he wouldn’t have to think of it…
Focus dropping, he dropped the Hume guise—his features sharper than usual. “Friend, I’ll need your help,” he said quietly.
As the viera looked at the raven-haired friend of hers, she felt the scent of darkness emerge from him with each heartbeat.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
However, a different scent caught her attention, one different to Heartless, yet still dark. She picked up the newcomer's footfalls, and turned to the supposedley female figure, her insane grin gone, but ehr eyes slowly turning fully black. This new scent intoxicated her even more, and the small part of her that was still sane tried to break free, and managed to tense her hands before losing control again. As her evil half ros eits hands, earth ripped from the ground and enveloped her hands, making gauntlets of some kind.
"I have tasted but a small amount of your power...and I want it all!"

"Hm... What a waste..." the Cloud of Darkness muttered. "It would seem that, in the end... The bait has overtaken the prey..."
This wasn't good... That small girl was putting off energy in waves, and she was apparently in a maenadic frenzy out for blood. The Cloud of Darkness had not realized that the girl and her other companion-- the one who also had defective Devout ears-- were such capsules of energy.
At first, the plan had been to simply ensnare someone and consume them. Now, she had a fight on her hands, and the Cloud of Darkness didn't like having to fight for her food. Wrapping Pain and Suffering about her, the Cloud of Darkness slipped into a Corridor of Darkness and reappeared on the balcony of a nearby house.
"If you want another nibble, tiny Devout, then we fear you'll have to come and get us!" the Cloud of Darkness called to Maya.
However, she had bigger plans for the bigger prize. The one with raven hair... He stank so heavily of Darkness that she was sure he'd keep her full for a few days, if not a week.
"Yes..." she whispered. "Come to us, little girl, like the good little hostage-to-be you are..."
Things had immediately taken a turn. While Maya had been focused on him, this new presence, surrounded by her own Dark aura, had distracted her. Meanwhile, Note had dropped his illusion to hold her back. This Mist was really that powerful. Ienzo nodded to Note's request and let the Darkness surge through him, his body reflecting this with a steady flow of energy warping around his arms. The other Organization members held control over the elements, but Ienzo was different.
He had complete control over the Darkness.
And this Dark stranger, she was baiting Maya in her frenzied state. Hostage-to-be... That didn't sound good at all. Ienzo stood beside Note, watching the Cloud anxiously, awaiting her next move. At times like these, he wasn't sure what to do. Kill the Dark being or hold Maya back. Which would cause more damage or save more pain?
The viera male opened his palm to the ground, willing a long stemmed plant to grow. In his palms, it took the form of a long and elegant bow; eloquently named World of Elegance. It quivered like a living object underneath his touch--he sucked a breath in. It had been a while since he felt like he had needed to summon his weapon.
"We have a few options here, friend," he said, the pupils of his eyes widening as the scent of Mist intensified around Ienzo. "And I do not like either," he mumbled quietly. He shut his eyes, trying to collect his jumbled thoughts--the best route of action would to be to get rid of the treat dangling right in front of Maya. If he had wanted it so badly--he would have probably went after the Hume-like figure, then Ienzo next.
Whatever he had to do to avoid hurting Maya.
He shot a look to Ienzo--he needed to make sure that Maya neither got ahold of the newcomer, nor Ienzo. This was not going to be pleasant. Or anything vice versa. He crouched low to the ground--starting a sprint to the newcomer. Within his hands sprouted arrows--just incase he needed to knock an arrow.
Maya sprinted as well, but first for the older viera. As she reached out to push him, her gauntlets latched onto his hands and pushed him back, fusing their stone fingers with the wall behind him and pinning him for a while. Then she turned back to the newcomer, a new set of claws forming.
"I am no mere hostage, stranger. I will not be your slave, but your power, or at least a portion of it." After saying this, her eyes flashed and a spasm went through her body. Her eyes suddenly turned a blood red, and she bent down on her knees, feeling Spontaneous Spellcasting coursing a Berserk[/b] spell ran through her veins. Her eyes locked on the Cloud of Darkness, and she pounced, swiping at her adversary's face.
Suffering batted away the girl's claws, while Pain wrapped about her wrists like organic handcuffs. Both of the creatures seemed to smirk with their gaping maws as the Cloud of Darkness brought Maya closer, lifting her from the ground.
"You seek to taste more of our power?" she hissed. Her blood-red lips curved up, more so than they had in over a millenium. "So you have wished it, and so it shall be..."
With that, the Cloud began to inhale a purple fog from around Maya. It was the fetid mist of her dark energy high. With the child drained of her excess and properly stunned, the Cloud of Darkness tossed Maya aside like a rag doll. Looking to see that the other rabbit-eared individual was currently stuck to a stone wall like a fly in a spider's web, she turned on Ienzo.
"My, my, my..." she said, slipping into a corridor of Darkness, only to reappear behind Ienzo. She leaned in close to him, and whispered into his ear. "You smell absolutely... delicious..."
Things weren't going well. Note was stuck. Maya was down. Ienzo was... alone. And this creature seemed to feed off Darkness. Not to mention she was after him. He looked between his friends, looking for some form of comfort, until he heard it-
The corridor opened behind him.
In one moment, where she had leaned close to him, whispering, he had thrown up a physical wall of shadow. If she was too close, it would easily uppercut her, and Ienzo threw himself as far away from that spot as possible. His silver eyes were on her, awaiting her next move. He was ready for anything she had as the Darkness flowed around him like a curtain.
Note blinked away the dark spots in his eyes when the back of his head slammed into the wall. That hadn’t been the most pleasant thing he had experienced in awhile, and it took him a few seconds to re-coordinate the wiring in his brain—but he took everything in, and watched as Maya was temporarily out-of-order.
Damnit! If only he hadn’t let himself become so soft throughout the years!
Tugging his wrists against the earthen gauntlets, his eyes turned to his friend. “Ienzo!” he shouted. If only he could get there! He struggled harder against the wall, as if he were a trapped animal. Without him knowing, vines started to bloom from the wall, cracking the dirt from around his wrists.
As the Cloud of Darkness approached Ienzo, she didn't notice a brief purple light envelop Maya, the result of a spontaneous Esuna spell that had activated. Fortune was acting in her favor so far, and as she shook off the dizziness her Mist was causing. Her dormant side still tried to fight off her dark, but got a glimpse of what was transpiring, and understood why it had taken over.
Maybe...this will save my friends.
So, with a sense of relaxation, she allowed the Mist to envelop her almost fully. As she did, a green mark appeared over her head, the Mark of the Wild activated, and she turned to Note, who was trying to struggle against her restraints.
"Help me defeat her. I see the young one cares for you." The restraints crumbled, and she turned and jumped, slashing at the exposed back of the Cloud of Darkness.
The Cloud of Darkness hissed as her back was scratched at by the little bunny girl. She whirled around, smacking Maya away. Looking to see the male free of his bonds, and the little boy becoming more and more steeped in shadows, the Cloud realized this was not going to be a battle she could win. So she decided to let the mindless minions do the work for her.
Disappearing onto the roof of the building next to the large door separating this area from the next one, she looked down onto the trio. Even if she summoned some Heartless, chances were that they boy could control them better than she could. After all, he was one of them, wasn't he?
"So sorry, dear children," she began, willing to test Fate, the only lady more ancient than she, and see how things turned out. "We must adjourn for now to another place, but fret not. We leave you with some... playmates."
With that last word, the Cloud of Darkness snapped her fingers, and Shadows, Neoshadows, Soldiers, and even Air Soldiers began to appear. Not satisfied with the horde she was leaving behind, the Cloud took a final moment to douse them with a purple mist of energy, mostly the energy she'd stolen from the bunny girl, in order to send them into a frenzy, before she entered her Corridor of Darkness, and vanished.
Resting, nursing her back as she floated on top of the cathedral-looking Gizmo Shop, she pondered.
"A being who can produce an exponential amount of energy for very little start-up energy..." she said. Her blood red lips curled up into a smirk and she licked her lips slowly. "I will consume that girl, and she will keep me satisfied for a long, long time..."
Ienzo sighed as she disappeared, the Darkness around him falling like oil to the ground. The Heartless slumped against a wall, his hair hiding his eyes, as his friends watched. That stare Maya had given him... He felt a shudder run through his body. He didn't dare look at them. In the shadows around him, his doppleganger, a creature of shadow, evaporated into the Darkness as Ienzo let his power fade.
He straightened up, brushed the dust from his jacket, and stood professionally in front of his friends. "So this is what I am." The Heartless the woman left behind rushed around him, concerned with their target. Were they supposed to kill another Heartless? Ienzo looked back to them, and with one hand, clenched. Immediately, the ground troops' shadows burst from the ground, strangulating the unknowing creatures. As the steely shadows pulled them into the ground, Ienzo sighed again. "I'm one of Dark mist, and I can't change it. I wasn't given the choice or the chance to make amends. And I can understand if you two don't want any part of that."
Ienzo wasn't prepared to lose his friends, but he couldn't bind them if they didn't want to be in such close proximity with the Darkness. Maya was already so fragile to its power... And Note, he had a past of his own. It was unfair for him to have to deal with Ienzo's baggage as well. He coughed, feeling the raw emotion run underneath his skin, wondering where his life would take him now. Ansem had taken everything from him; his family, his body, and his free will. And he was doomed to exist in this state forever.
