In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Note studied Ienzo carefully through garnet eyes. “If Radiant Garden is not safe for you friend, then I’m not sure that’s the best place to go,” he said quietly. Which would make Traverse Town the most likely place to stay temporarily. His face contorted at the thought of it—the lack of nature in this world irritated him, and it was just…much, much too crowded for his liking. “I’d be glad to play host,” he said, a hint of a smile on his ever-frozen features.
That was, at least, until he was able to finish the repairs and collect supplies for his Air Ship. The trip to Ivalice and back had been a long, and rather rough trip. After he could finish everything he needed to, he’d then be able to accompany Ienzo back to Radiant Garden.
"So, what should we do next?"
Stretching his long limbs over his head, he pondered. Finding shelter would have been a good idea. The viera was in constant survival mode. There were plenty of places to stay here, though the noise would have driven him rather batty after several hours. Especially if he had to be cooped in some cramped hotel room. He wasn’t a domesticated rabbit that could be put in a cage and be content.
He watched the flowers bloom in a fae’s circle at Maya’s feet, when his eyes brightened with an idea.
Ienzo nodded. He knew that Note most likely didn't like the bustling city of Traverse Town, and the lack of actual life in this Victorian-esque city would most likely drive the Viera insane. It gave Ienzo a brief flicker of pride, knowing that Note would do that for him. He looked around for a possible source of nature and decided that the best place for a garden would be in the Zero District, at a strange tea-kettle house surrounded by grass and water.
"In a door of flames, an old man named Merlin used to grow plants in this town," he commented, looking towards the Third District. "People rarely go there and it's fit to stay in for a little while, if you'd like."
That was the only place Ienzo had seen growth in this town other than the flowers at Maya's feet. He was sure that by the end of their stay, the Zero District would be beautiful. Especially under Note's sharp gaze. A brief smile flickered across his face...
Self reflection once again. What was considered light? Because Ienzo was content and he felt as though that wasn't possible.
As she heard Note mention a garden, her ears perked up and she smiled softly, giggling. Which wasn't like her, she noticed, more than a bit confused. She was shy aroun dothers normally, but she felt comfortable around the other Viera and Ienzo. She pondered it for a second, then shrugged it off and ran a mental list of flowers in her head. She had loved to look at flowers in Ivalice, and planting them was something she enjoyed.
It's like I'm back home...
She looked to Ienzo and asked, "Well, where is this supposed Zero District? As you know, I still get lost."
“Merlin…?” Note said, repeating the name. His eyes opened a bit in recognition. That was a very familiar name—and as the vowels left his lifts, a picture of an aged Hume male drenched in Mist was conjured in his mind. Wasn’t he a resident of Radiant Garden? Note wasn’t exactly a very social creature, so the few people he let himself interact with were people he remembered very well. But if this was an area Merlin had dwelled at, it must be safe. He knew his own abilities could get him through the day to day, but he was not positive about Maya. Not yet.
“Suitable,” he said with a small nod, glancing at the Third District. It had been a very long time, he felt, since he had been in Traverse Town. He lifted his palms, and stretched his claws out. If he remembered correctly, the Third District was not a very safe place to be. “Through the Third District,” he whispered. Glancing over his shoulder, he stole a look at Maya before he held a hand out to Ienzo in a gesture of friendship—and beckoning.
“Should we scout it first?” he muttered. If this was indeed Merlin’s place, he needed to check it for Mist.
"Oh, that door." She had often wondered what was behind that door, but was never to open it for some odd reason. As she stepped to Note's side, she was still thinking of plants to grow. But, suddenly, she tripped and stumbled into Note.
Oh no.
She stumbled away, blushing, as she started to stutter. She didn't enjoy being in contact with others, but Note was different. His feeling felt...inviting. As she backed away, she managed to get out a "So...sorry, I tripped."
She felt like such an idiot.
((Shizz, this sucks. D:))

As Note pondered about the Zero District, which he had, as a past resident, stayed clear away from, he was also carefully considering other places to which he could plant a suitable garden. He had liked the outskirts of Radiant Garden because rarely did a Hume or other destructive being wander through there…but Traverse Town might have been a challenge. As he glanced to the sky in deep thought, his mind wandered to Ivalice’s floating gardens.
His ears heard the trip before he even consciously thought about it—hands outreaching, Note grabbed the other viera’s shoulders to steady her. Velvet eyes blinked in surprise at the shorter one as he quietly steadied her on her feet. When she backed away, Note inwardly smiled, chuckling inaudibly at her. His face was perhaps unreadable, but his eyes told all. It wasn’t filled with malice, though he was clearly entertained—though he did not know why.
“Ienzo? Perhaps you could show the way? It’s been years since I last visited this world.”
Ienzo nodded and beckoned for his friends to follow. His self-reflection had finally ended as his friends agreed to examine the Zero District. He nodded, brushing his dark hair out of the way. The cool air of Traverse Town whipped around them, the feel of a refreshing spring night a comfort compared to other Worlds. This place, so far away from the other Worlds, could be so peaceful, despite its Heartless population. Perhaps it was the best way to fade into Darkness. This was indeed one of the only places that was still (partially) within the realm of Light while remaining dark.
Ienzo pulled the double-doors leading into the Third District and held to the wall to avoid waking his brethren. Directly to their left was a small door covered in flames, once locked by magical means. At this point, it was open for basically anybody, yet most forgot of the abandoned house's existence. Ienzo's steel eyes stole a quick glance around to make sure no Heartless had arisen from the Darkness. Content with the situation, he held the door open for his friends.
Inside of this District, there were no walls to speak of, other than the dark gray masses (reminiscing of the night skies) that seemed to dome over them. There was a small lake where a path of stepping stones led to a house only slightly in the distance. The house was quaint and not the prettiest, but the island itself was covered in grass, with small flowers and slightl flora. Ienzo smiled slightly. It was definitely a nice break from the Victorian-esque Districts.
"Well, this is better than the rest of the town when it comes to nature and quietude. I hope it's alright," he said as he agily moved onto a stepping stone. "We can be out of here soon."
Figuring out te puzzle of the stepping stones, Maya cleared the water with ease and leaned on the ground, noticing the lack of sun and abundance of water. She placed a hand on the soil, growing a few shoots of grass, which pleased her. "Even without sun, the plants should be able to grow. There's some sort of...magical energy in the soil." In saying that, a small patch of snapdragons grew, one of her personal favorite plants.
She then turned to Note and said, "It shouldn't take long to make this place lively, but I'm not sure what to plant. Should we do a certian color, or just grow whatever?"

Note paused at the entrance of the Zero District, his large white ears twitching in many directions as he picked up the voices. Yes, this was definitely where the Wood was the loudest. Eyes narrowing, he focused inward, his senses flaring momentarily alive to the massive presence of magick….Mist.
Agilely solving the puzzle of the stepping stones by observing the other two, he bent over and took a handful of the soil and brought it to his nose. Perhaps checking the acidity or the base of the soil. Naturally, he didn’t know what those words were, but his keen senses would be able to point out what could and could not grow naturally here. Red velvet eyes dilating, he patted the soil back into the Earth.
He turned to Maya, rigidly, after she grew snapdragons. “What does it tell you to plant?” he asked quietly. He swallowed. This place…
Ienzo stopped and looked to Note in alarm. The seemingly young Viera had stopped. The Heartless watched his friend sniff with interest. As expected, Note didn't seem all that thrilled. He was probably picking up something that the Heartless either wasn't affected by or something that it had known naturally for years. Either way, it didn't appear natural whatsoever, but then again, what in this place was natural? That old magician made it, or so Ienzo guessed. Merlin was a good old man (Ienzo had met him on an occasion in Radiant Garden), and he knew better than using anything... bad.
He looked around the abandoned cottage, scouting out the area a moment more, and turned to the others. "It's not ideal, but it's a place to stay until we can get back to Radiant Garden," he announced, sending a hand through his raven hair. "So... Is it alright?"
Maya was about to answer, but her ears began to twitch uncontrollably, hearing multiple voices around her. She hadn't heard them when she entered, but she covered her ears and tried to stop the voices. "What is going on?" she said in her accented voice, closing her eyes tight and clenching her hands. Her snapdragons wilted, and as she opened her eyes, she saw the wisps of the Wood around her, yet were moving out of control.
"I need to leave!" she said, hopping the rocks and escaping the area. As she did, she nearly collapsed and her body shook, overstimulated from the insanity inside the Zero District. Then, with a shudder, she fell, mentally exhausted.
Note observed Maya very carefully, and very quietly—the muscles underneath his rich dark skin tensing. He had wondered just how sensitive to the Mist the younger Viera was…and her actions spoke louder than any words she could have said. Maya must have been younger than him, or at least somewhat sheltered.
But the Zero District reminded him of Nethecite. Magick or remnants of magic hung heavy here—though he didn’t sense it as being “Dark”. The Viera were neutral—and could be affected heavily by either or depending on their past exposure or their tolerance. Being older, he would have been able to handle himself for at least a little longer before he went into a frenzy—it had been Maya he worried about though.
He watched her flee from the district, and turned his eyes to Ienzo. “She’s sensitive,” he said simply, doing his best to give him a reassuring look. He’d have to explain that their type were amazingly sensitive to it in high concentration. A blessing and a curse, really. “Perhaps this is not the best place to start a garden,” he said quietly, as he calmly and collectedly waited for Ienzo to exit before him. Calmly, yes—though his claws had lengthed considerably and his eyes were dilated so that they almost appeared black.
His ears picked up that Maya had fallen just outside. “We should hurry.”
They were lucky she hadn’t went into a Mist frenzy.
Great. Maya was overflowing again. Ienzo ducked out of the room... Was he leading them wrong? Jeez, why couldn't he understand what was bad about the place? It didn't smell odd to him, it just smelled like some old sorceror's...
Magic.
That was it. Damnit! Ienzo searched for Maya in an attempt to help her. What was the best way to release magic? Magic, magic... It came from a strong Heart. So, Darkness made the Heart stronger. Ienzo wouldn't be able to help at all! These Viera were oversensitive to magic, and this one was strangely like a powderkeg, ready to blow up at any time. Poor Maya... Ienzo would have to think of a nonmagical way to help them out.
There was always the Hotel in the Second District. But at the moment, Maya was running into the Third, meaning... Heartless.
His ears picked up that Maya had fallen just outside. “We should hurry.”
They were lucky she hadn’t went into a Mist frenzy.
((Don't be so sure, my friend.))
Although she had passed out, it was only for a moment, and her eyes fluttered open. However, if one were to look at them, a slight red glow could be seen. As she got up, she glared at the door of the Zero District. That power, it was...intoxicating, and she craved it. For some reason, she felt as if she shouldn't go back in there, but her body didn't comply. As she stood all the way up, another scent of Mist became apparent to her, one similar to the nethicite the Empire had imported into Dalmasca when she was there.
Yet it was different at the same time. So, she pivoted and looked behind her, seeing the single Shadow Ehartless in the Third District. A simple annoyance, and was easily killed with a pointed spire of rock. However, this was Maya's downfall, for the Mist she had smalled got stronger, and her eyes turned pure black. It wasn't the magic more then the power that drove her to this.
She wanted more, and nearly laughed in glee as more appeared. And, among the scents, a stronger one emanating from a stronger source...
