Character Name: Atlantace B. Drake
Nickname (Optional): A.T
Age: 45
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Society Position: Chaotic Speed (neutral)
Powers: -Cura: Cure, Level 2. Heals most wounds, light to semi-severe. Life threatening wounds are only partially healed, and require more intense focus, and multiple applications to be healed. However, casting Cura drains all magical ability from Atlantace for a short time, forcing him to rely on the Ranseur and his combat prowess. (No magic, lasts for two posts)
-Blizzara: five large chunks of ice fly toward the opponent in a straight or zig-zagging line. No tracking ability.
-Thundara: Several strong lightning bolts strike an area of affect (10 ft)
-Fira: three balls of intense flame shoot toward the opponent, with limited tracking ability.
Abilities:- Jump: Jumps high up into the air, then comes careening down to the ground, swinging his Ranseur vertically over his head. – Very powerful attack, in fact, this attack is usually a battle- ender. However, it is possible to defend against, by simply moving to the side, or performing an overhead block. The first is recommended, because the momentum and shattering force of the Jumping impact is enough to leave a shallow crater in the ground. Adding in the slash from the Ranseur only multiplies the force behind the attack. (Ouch) (This can be done once every six posts)
- Enchant: Atlantace can coat the blade of his Ranseur in cold, which can temporarily numb body parts if it makes contact, or he can supercharge it with electricity and shock an enemy. (Lasts for one swing of the weapon, cannot be combined with Jump, and if the attack is blocked/misses the effect goes away)
- En Garde!: Atlantace’s Limit Break. Atlantace shouts the preparatory “En Garde!”, settles into a solid back stance, and then lunges into a blur of furious strikes with his Ranseur, usually 10-16 stabbing and slashing motions are preformed, all in quick succession. Then, Atlantace launches himself into the air and quickly comes slamming down, driving the Ranseur straight into his opponent, with twice the power of a normal Jump. (Cool-down time of twenty posts)
Weapon(s): - The Greater Ranseur: Atlantace’s Lance. This is an ornate Dragon Lance. The Shaft has a double spiral design that extends along the shaft. The blade of the lance is barbed, and is sharp enough to penetrate Dragon Scales. The blade and the shaft of the lance are joined together by a relief of a dragon’s head, with the blade protruding from the dragon’s open mouth. Behind the dragonhead, the shaft comes out of wing-like patterns. The cap end of the lance comes to a layered, diamond-shaped point. The shaft of the Ranseur is made of Black Mythril, while the cap and head are made of Adamantium, a golden dragon metal. The weapon itself, already extremely durable and always sharp, will never be destroyed unless wielder and dragon have both been destroyed. It also only works in the hands of either a Dragon bonded or a Dragon Knight. The weapon has no innate abilities, however, there are runic channels built into the shaft that protect the wielder from the elemental effects added to the blade.
Gummi Ship: Atlantace is in possession of a Gummi ship of sorts. Many years before his home planet of Wuurcya was destroyed, he was life-bonded to a dragon companion, Bloodbane. The dragon helped him escape the Heartless’ destruction of Wuurcya, and through the escape, the Dragon turned into an actual ship. The Gummi blocks are all smoothed out and organically shaped, and Bloodbane's conscience remains as the shipboard computer's AI.
-Bloodbane: A greater earth dragon, bonded to Atlantace. Bloodbane was rescued by Atlantace from near death, and then returned the favor when Atlantace was thrown off of a tower. (Explained in history, don’t worry) This created the life and blood bonds that allowed the two to understand each other’s languages, and even emotionally linked them, so they can talk through their minds. He is very, very, large. If Atlantace were to stand next to Bloodbane, and Bloodbane were to rest his head flat on the ground, they would be at eyelevel. Well, Bloodbane’s pupil would be as big as Atlantace’s head… but that’s beyond the point. Bloodbane’s scales are a tan-ish earth color, with thin bands of green alternating with the thick bands of tan. His head is angular yet fluid, in a soft sweep from the two horns on top down to above the eyes, and then an opposite curve to the nose, with a strong jaw line (as all dragons have). He has extremely bulky muscles on his shoulder blade area, which flow into leathery wings that are larger than the midsection and neck of the dragon. A webbed spine runs down the back of Bloodbane’s neck, stops before his back, and then continues down to the tip of the muscular tail.
Because he transformed into a Gummi ship, his head is now the cockpit, his body is the crew quarters and the engine block. Bloodbane's legs have booster engines in them, to aid with lift and thrust while flying. On the outside, Bloodbane is a flesh and blood Earth Dragon (no matter where he goes), but on the inside, he is a Gummi ship with an intelligent AI, and can transport Atlantace and up to a dozen others comfortably. He usually stays in orbit around a planet, or if there is a big enough port, he docks and refuels himself.
Picture (Optional): Appearance: Atlantace is tall. He checks in at six foot three without his boots on, and the boots only add another two inches. The next thing many people notice is the armor that he wears. His armor was created by the previous Dragon Highlord, who died shortly after Atlantace became Dragon-bonded, because the man had foreseen that the armor would be needed. It is ornate and flexible, light enough to not prohibit movement, but sturdy enough to protect from dragon claws. The breastplate has multiple layers of black, gold, tan, and silver, with a gold, pointed cross shape on the outermost layer. There are four, large, scale shapes overlapping in a line from under the cross to the waist, and a pentagonal flap of metal hangs over the groin area as a shield, and a tabard hangs through, with mystic protection runes on it. The pauldrons on his shoulders are also ornate, and flange off the edge, covering his upper breastplate from attack. The armor extends to his legs, which are also fully covered, with ridge designs, and then the boots, which have golden, claw-like points at the end of the boot. (Onto the Man Himself) Atlantace is of a relatively pale complexion, as most Wuurcyans are. Well, most Wuurcyans that are bonded to a dragon. His fair skin is not common in Wuurcya, but it is complimented by his light blonde hair, which lightly frames his face, and is swept to the back of his head. His hair just barely covers his ears, and in the back, it barely reaches his neck. Atlantace has orange eyes, and thanks to Bloodbane, there are silver flecks and lines scattered about the iris. His face is defined, but not heavy set, and if he opens his mouth and sticks out his tongue, there are three silver, parallel scars that run the length from half way up his tongue to the very tip, reminders of a horrible accident from his youth. On his left shoulder blade, if you can ever get him in something other than his polished armor, is a small, palm-sized tattoo of a vibrantly colored Butterfly. This is from the dragon bonding ritual, and is the sacred mark of their bond. Why it is in the shape of a butterfly- only Bloodbane knows, and he hasn’t told anyone yet.
Because of his affiliation with Bloodbane, he ages differently than normal human beings. Because of the Dragon blood magic that courses through his veins, his aging has cut in half. While he has been alive for forty-five years, he basically stopped changing at the age of twenty-three, and still looks like it; young, handsome, dashing, etc.
When he takes off his Armor, he usually walks around without much covering his upper body, showing off his well-toned muscles and fair skin. There are four whip scars on his back from the same incident in his youth, thick, ropey scars that have grown with him since the age of twelve.
Personality: Atlantace is (usually) the epitome of calm. He underwent five years of rigorous training under a society of Dragon companions, and was raised to be the best. In battle, a small smirk sticks itself to his mouth and somehow stays there, no matter what. If you do somehow succeed in making him angry, by persistent annoyance, his rage is unstoppable. Look out.
Atlantace enjoys simple things, like Drinking Tea, looking at flowers, and training others in the art of weapons. He also enjoys flying around on Bloodbane, training with friends, sleeping in a comfortable bed, and being happy. He also enjoys monster hunting, and sustenance hunting. The monster Hunting is done either alone or with Bloodbane, and he was paid pretty well on Wuurcya to take out gruesome beasts. He specializes in taking out larger creatures, as he flies around them on Bloodbane, secures a weak spot, and then Jumps to it.
However, Atlantace’s bad side sometimes comes out, and it is revealed that he enjoys dueling, sometimes injuring or even killing an opponent. Don’t get Atlantace drunk. You’ll be very sorry, because his anger control drops from five-hundred to Zero, and little problems or jokes are taken very seriously. More than one foolish bar patron has gotten a broken nose from simply saying something jokingly. Thankfully, Atlantace knows how to pace himself, and it takes a lot of alcohol in a short amount of time to get him drunk.
Atlantace, after being around for forty-five years, has seen many a battle, which includes observing the tactics and movements. Also, being alive for fifty years has taught him a thing or two about psychology. He knows how to mess with people’s heads- twist their words and their emotions one way or another, but he also knows how to inspire others to a cause.
Original World: Wuurcya
Current World: Heading for Radiant Garden
History/Background: Atlantace was born on a very cold, winter evening. In the left wing of the Castle Wuurcya, in Wuurcya City. His father, Sergei J. Black, was a close childhood friend of the king, and was away on royal business when Atlantace was born. His mother, Anna M. Black, was a strong willed woman, and was well liked throughout the court. Atlantace lived as any noble’s child would- he was free of want, and educated at the very best from an early age. When he was five, he took up learning to use a staff, taking lessons from the royal arms master, his father, and once, the king himself.
He quickly became friends with the king’s son, Sadionel J. Wuurcyan, and the two would often go out and cause mischief. Around the age of twelve, the two boys went out on an un-announced hunting trip. Everything was fine; they had even managed to catch a few rabbits. However, the two eventually became lost in the forest. Night fell, and the Sadionel lit a fire with his magic. The two ate a small meal, one of the two rabbits, and then quickly fell asleep. However, their fire attracted strange attention, and Atlantace woke up to find himself bound at the wrists.
Hearing Footsteps, he pretended to still be unconscious, wondering whom and what had captured him. The footsteps came close, stopped, and then walked away. Opening his eyes, Atlantace took note of his surroundings. He was in a small wooden lodge at the edge of the forest. It was morning, and Sadionel was not near him. Atlantace panicked for a little bit, before recalling one part of the training his father had given him.
Remember- you are to protect the prince, no matter the cost. The King and his family always come first. Then worry about yourself.Atlantace’s mind went back to another lesson, one from a thief he had met in town.
How to escape… Just relax. Then wiggle a little bit, searching for the weak spot, or wiggle against something sharp. Atlantace looked around the room. There wasn’t much, until he noticed the cage in the corner of the room. There was a small, cat-sized lizard in the cage, and it did not look too healthy. The creature looked into Atlantace’s eyes, and he suddenly heard a small voice. “Help me…” looking around, Atlantace didn’t see anyone. Then, looking at the creature, he realized that the message had come from it.
He indicated his bonds. The creature shifted its foreleg, revealing a set of sharp claws. Atlantace’s eye widened in shock, but he figured it was the only way, and the creature was too weak to hurt him. The creature shifted to the edge of the cage as Atlantace moved closer, and stuck out a claw. Atlantace used it to slice through his bonds, and then rubbed his wrists to get the feeling back. Then, he took a step back, and examined the creature’s cage.
The metal bars had their fare share of dents and scratch marks in them- the creature had probably initially resisted the captivity. There was a padlock on the door of the cage, a big one.
Atlantace looked around for a key, but to no avail. He went to sit down on a box in the corner, but noticed a thin piece of metal sticking out one of the sides.
He realized that the only way was to pick the lock, something that he had learned from a servant at the castle. It took a while, but he finally got the cage open. The creature looked at Atlantace again, still not moving. Atlantace sighed, as he could tell that the thing couldn’t move. Shaking his head, he pulled it out of the cage and then hefted the lizard-like creature onto his back.
On his way out of the large room he had been placed in, he saw his pack. Putting the creature down, he walked cautiously over and picked it up. The leftover rabbit meat was still inside, along with a few healing herbs. He gave the lizard the rabbit meat and an herb, and munched on the other herbs himself, thinking about Sadionel.
As if the heavens had heard his thoughts, Atlantace heard a yell from outside. It was a young person’s yell, and it was quickly accompanied by that of an older man. The first yell made Atlantace happy. It was Sadionel’s battle cry, and it meant that he was ok. The second yell made Atlantace scared though- it was his father. Somehow, Sadionel had stumbled across Sergei, and had lead the man back to the place of their captivity. Atlantace cautiously opened the door of the room he was kept in, still carrying the lizard on his back.
He had almost made it across the main area to the room where His father and the prince were attempting to get in, when he heard a gruff voice yell behind him. Not stopping to see who it was, Atlantace ran. The voice came into his head again, directing him along a twisting passage. “Left… right… left… straight… left… second door.” Atlantace mindlessly followed the directions, slamming himself through the last door and out into harsh sunlight.
Boy was his dad mad at him.
Later, back at the castle, Sergei explained how the boys had been missing for more than two days. Sadionel shook his head, and Atlantace just stared off into the distance. He looked over at his father, who asked him to come over. Atlantace obeyed, and his father told him to stick out his tongue. Both Father and Prince were astounded to see the three parallel, silver lines running halfway down it.
Years passed, and the boys grew up. Sadionel succeeded his father’s throne at the age of eighteen, ruling with relative ease, while Atlantace grew up training more and more in the ways of magic and weaponry, upgrading his staff to a simple spear. Sadionel appointed Atlantace as royal advisor on his twentieth birthday, a position received with honor.
In the twenty-first year of Atlantace's life, his mother died of the flu. Soon after, Sergei became bedridden from a Lung disease, dieing soon after, leaving Atlantace on his own. Atlantace mourned their deaths for half a year, learning to accept their deaths and went back to living normally and busily.
He enjoyed advising the king. Life was good: the people were happy, Atlantace was rich and powerful, and semi-happy. When Atlantace turned twenty-three, the king had a son. The Boy’s name was Aushe, and Atlantace sometimes paid visits to the youngster.
One day five years later, the year of Atlantace’s twenty- eighth Birthday, there was an assassination attempt on the royal family. Well, there would have been if Atlantace hadn’t made such a ruckus wiping the hallway outside the royal chamber using the would-be assassin as a new kind of cleaning agent. However, before he could do anything about it, Atlantace was charged with the blame for the attempt. Since the King had been asleep for the whole thing, nobody stood up for Atlantace, and he was to be hung from the tallest tower in the castle.
Two weeks later, despite all of Sadionel’s best efforts, the earls and barons would not be satisfied. Atlantace was brought up to the top of the tower. Before the sentence could be carried out, however, Atlantace broke through the weak shackles on his arms, and ran toward the edge of the tower. A single tear leaked from his eye as he looked back at the king, and Atlantace yelled to all assembled; “I’ll take my own life before I allow myself to be slain by traitorous worms like yourselves! Long Live King Sadionel! Long live his son, Prince Aushe!”
With those words, Atlantace propelled himself backwards off of the edge of the tower. The King and the captain of the Guard bowed their heads, expecting a crunching noise, but everyone was equally surprised to hear a loud roar instead, which almost shook the foundations of the castle. It even woke prince Aushe from his nap.
When Atlantace woke up, he blinked three times. And then he pinched himself. It hurt, meaning that he was still alive. He was in a bed in a room decorated with dragons everywhere. Over a few hours, he learned that he was very much alive, and that there was a very large friend outside, waiting not very patiently. Atlantace stumbled outside to see something he had only read about.
A Dragon.
And not only a dragon, but a Greater Earth dragon. The great beast lowered his head to be at eye level with Atlantace. It wasn’t fully grown, but the creature was three times bigger than Atlantace was. It spoke to him with a deep, booming voice that seemed to resonate within Atlantace’s head. “Remember me, little one? I owe you my life. And therefore, I rescued you. Now, we are partners.”
Atlantace’s Jaw dropped. The dragon proceeded to explain what had happened, and how he had been in the area when he sensed Atlantace’s anguish and flew to the rescue.
The next few weeks consisted of Atlantace exploring the Dragon Territory with his new friend, Bloodbane, until they were summoned by a mysterious masked man on a small, black dragon. They followed this man to the heart of the dragon territory, where he revealed to them who he was. He was the last Dragon Highlord, or supreme commander of the dragons. He also told them that because of the way they had been indebted to each other, they must be life-bonded. The ensuing process was extremely painful, at least, on Atlantace’s end. He was enveloped in Dragon breath, and he meditated for several months, and then was enveloped in a strange shroud that the Highlord placed upon him. This one was not too painful, but it made him re-live everything he’d ever done. Including the time when he received the three scars on his tongue. After eight months of preparation and work, the Dragon Highlord finally called the two back together.
He presented Bloodbane with two abilities: the gift of spatial flight, describing it as the ability to fly to the stars and back, and an agility boost that would make a hummingbird blush. The Dragon Highlord then gave Atlantace permission to wear a set of Dragon Armor, specially created with the help of local dragons. With it came the Grand Ranseur. The Grand Ranseur bestowed Atlantace with the Jump ability.
Shortly after this, the Highlord and his own dragon companion disappeared, not naming any successor. Atlantace, not quite sure of his new abilities, donned the armor and with Bloodbane, began to ride around Wuurcya. Whenever the pair came to a town, Atlantace wandered in, looking for hunts and quests. He found work wherever he went, from dispatching local monsters to catching horrendous villains. Over time, as he honed his skills, he found himself thinking of home. It had been almost twelve years since he’d been at castle Wuurcya, and he knew that his body had only made one drastic change, and that would be that his hair had turned from a deep chestnut color to a light blonde color, and that his skin had gotten lighter as opposed to tanner.
He returned to Wuurcyan Castle barely in time to stop yet another Assassination attempt on the king. Now, there was open talk of war, and King Sadionel was looking stressed. Aushe, however, was almost ready to take the throne. Atlantace saw this, and offered to become the boy’s weapons instructor. They became friends, and when the civil war broke out, Atlantace remained fiercely loyal to the king. One night, Sadionel requested that Atlantace guard Aushe’s Chambers. That was the night that the king and his wife were slain. Atlantace felt that he had failed, until he remembered the king’s last words to him. “Make sure my son becomes King, Atlantace.”
After a few years of advising Aushe in the matters of warfare, the war ended. During the peace that followed, Atlantace and Aushe became steadfast friends. Atlantace trained with Aushe almost every day, advising him on this, or that, and helping him improve his fighting prowess.
This continued on until the Invasion of Darkness, which separated Aushe and Atlantace. Atlantace managed to escape on Bloodbane’s back, but as Bloodbane took to the skies, he seemed to undergo a change. As he flew out of the planet’s atmosphere, a field formed around Atlantace, transporting him into Bloodbane's head, which had become a cockpit. Atlantace was amazed at all of the displays, but there were no controls. Atlantace heard Bloodbane's voice boom over a speaker, grumbling about having to do all the hard work, in reference to piloting himself. Atlantace had control of the weapons, something that Bloodbane helped him learn to do.
They flew about the galaxy, looking for a suitable planet. Atlantace wanted to find Aushe, and has been looking for him since, looking for a planet that would have attracted the arrogant king. As they flew, Atlantace learned the extents of his new ship, exploring the thing from nose to... well, tail. After a year, Atlantace had almost given up looking for Aushe.
Then, he heard of Radiant Garden.
He set off with Bloodbane and plotted the course: Full speed ahead. Next stop: Radiant Garden.
Role Playing Sample: Atlantace stood on top of Bloodbane’s head, looking off at a dark conflagration over the capital. Holding his looking glass up to his eye, he frowned.
“Dark Clouds... wait. Those aren't normal clouds! Things are dropping from them!?” Atlantace shook his head and took out his looking glass. "By the gods...” He looked in again quickly, focusing on one of the larger black things. It leaped on an unsuspecting guard and plunged its hand into the guard's chest with a flash of light.
"Bane! All haste to the courtyard of the castle! They'll need our assistance, especially Aushe!” Sliding down from his perch on top of Bloodbane's head to the sitting place on Bloodbane’s back, he sat down and strapped himself in.
“I have feeling that we will not like what we see, should we tarry here,” Bloodbane roared, launching himself into the air.
Once they were over the castle, Atlantace jumped down, his lance at the ready. Sneaking through the halls, he found Aushe watching strange, smaller, black creatures, which were occasionally accompanied by similar silvery creatures, attack the guards. Aushe jumped, startled at the sudden appearance, but quickly regained composure.
“What are these things?” Aushe demanded.
“I'm afraid, sire, I haven't a clue. In all my travels, these creatures have not appeared to me. Best be on your guard though, I am sure that they aren't friendly!” replied Atlantace. As he spoke, a swarm of the creatures surrounded them. The two exchanged a nod, and split off and fought their way through the cloud of fiends. Atlantace fought his way toward the center of the courtyard, and Bloodbane called down that he was going to land. Without a second thought, Atlantace jumped on, kicking a few heartless off his perch.
Atlantace looked around as Bloodbane spoke, “What about Aushe? Where is he, little one?” Atlantace shook his head. “I have no clue, other than the direction he left in.”
Bloodbane stretched his wings. “Then it cannot be helped. It is time for us to use one of the abilities given by the Highlord. We will use it to leave here and find refuge. Hold on Tight.”
Atlantace automatically grabbed a good handhold, and Bloodbane shot off into the sky. As they flew higher and higher, Atlantace couldn’t help but look back and pray;
"Aushe... promise we will meet again, in this life..."
