In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Okay so we all know the Black coats or whatever protects people from the darkness.
But I was thinking what is special about them other than being a black coat. I mean do they have like an enchantment on them that protects the person that wears them or is just because they are black.
And if it is just because they are black cant someone just make there own make shift black coat to protect themselves in the corridors of darkness?
Also how do the lesser nobodies travel from place to place. They seem to sort of just pop in. I mean do they use corridors of darkness or what. And if they use corridors of darkness then how are tehy safe from the darkness and stuff but the Organization isn't?
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to think for a little bit longer to come up with a decent theory on why the black coats protect you and whatnot. I'm playing around with the idea that it's made from material saturated in darkness (say if you had something like Sora's clothes that can enter Drive form, but the black coats are in some sort of Dark Drive permanently or something, and it's kind of embedded/interwoven into the material or sommat). But it's still pretty vague.
As for the second point, I think that the Organization use the black coats not to protect themselves from corruption (since they have no hearts to corrupt) but to perhaps stave off the amnesiac effect of the Realm of Darkness - after all, memories are pretty much the most precious thing Nobodies have, since it allows them to remember at least what it was like to feel back when they had hearts. Could explain why lesser nobodies don't need to, cos they're much like the dumb muscle of the Organization - sure, they're smarter than Heartless, but they're still all out to get themselves a heart, an instinct which seems to be the biggest thing on their minds. Hope that made sense

Actually, I do not believe the darkness has amnesiac properties for the Nobodies. At least, I do not believe that that is what the coats protect them from. I was under the impression it is the hostility of what lurks in the darkness itself that the coats are a guard for; though they have no Hearts to be corrupted, Heartless can still harm Nobodies by normal means. This is evident in Days when Roxas is harmed by various Heartless he battles. Though such powerful Nobodies as the Organization will likely fend of minor Heartless with ease, such a multitude flourish in the Realm of Darkness I wouldn’t be surprised if they wore the cloaks to save the hassle of fighting wherever they go.
The ‘Darkness woven in the fabric’, as you said, is a good theory. With garments steeped in Darkness the wearer is hidden from some not-so-hospitable residents of the Realm.

o3o well if we stick with canon info that we know of
- it protects one from darkness and originally made by Master Xehanort in replacement of Keyblade armory. - Since Xemnas is a by-product of him, he intergrated that with the Org uniform. - Nobodies doesn't need protection from darkness because they lack hearts sooo either member or lesser nobody can stroll about it cloak-less. - All in all the cloaks...were originally in the game just to conceal identities, and it's origins was later weaved into the game. With that, I doubt you really have to overthink it's concept.
NOW SPECULATION!
I doubt the Org have to fear heartless, because they essentially had a firm hand of controlling them during KH; also heartless really won't have reasons to attack them, since they lack hearts. Roxas on the other have a keyblade, which is what heartless fears and lures them. You can say they even had another purpose to take Ventus' heart within Roxas.
As for the Amensia, that would make sense, since Ansem the Wise had to occupy himself with writing to keep a hold of his memory, while trapped in the Realm of Darkness. Who knows how long he's been linger there? With that said, I doubt the Realm have an instantenous amnesiac effect to make that a property of the cloak. It's just for traveling, which is probably deemed faster than a gummiship; so it's not like they would be dwelling in the realm as long as Ansem/DiZ to suffer in that regards.

I love that he discarded his protective Keyblade armor because he was not afraid of the Darkness... but created a whole other set of clothing that protects him from the Darkness.
I would say that it has a lot to do with MX- he seems to be a determining factor in all of this. Hell, it could go right to the newest game: It wards off outside influence from the Heart. Not gonna spoil anything, but Master Xehanort had all of his minions wearing said coat as he manipulated their 'hearts'. That could be his Recusant Sigil (a symbol that is basically a tracer- most Nobodies wore it, which is why Xemnas could find them so easily. The X in their names, precisely, was their Sigil), not to mention a way to keep his minions' Hearts from being corrupted by any outside source.
