Character Name: Maxwell Tendas
Nickname (Optional): Max
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Species: human
Society Position: good
Battle Theme: Wanderer On the Offensive(Remix)Major(Boss) Battle Theme: Shadow of the Colossus - Roar of the Streets(Rap Remix)Character Theme: Indestructible - DisturbedPowers: Hydrokinetic Parasite - He is able to control the element of water though a kind of magical parasite hasn't been encountered in anyone who wasn't born in the Kingdom of Strife. Though occasionally this parasite can take control of water on its own, it bends to the will of its host, who in this case is Max.
He is able to control water on a molecular level to compress it into a solid. When he does this, it isn't able to hold a cutting edge, but is able to physically stop attacks, etc. by making a wall or some kind of obstacle out of solidified water which makes it good for shielding himself. However, he cannot shield himself from non-physical attacks with water. This includes projectiles comprised of magic, but not things such as magically controlled fire.
Since his Awakening, his powers have changed somewhat. He is able to not only control water in its liquid form, but also its solid and gas forms as well. The ice he forms this way can hold a cutting edge, unlike water he compresses to a solid state. He can use this to form weapons should he ever find himself disarmed. He can also turn water to is gaseious form in order to create shrouds. When he does this, he can feel where things are in the mist through his power's connection with the water.
LIMIT(Avatar) - the magical sleep Max was placed in after being gravely injured unlocked a special aspect of this ability of his. It allows the parasites that give him his hydrokinesis the ability to aid him of their own will, although it only happens in the most dire of situations, and cannot be called at will. It happens in two stages, as follows:
Armor Stage - the parasites in Max's body use water to form protective armor over him. This is not something that Max has to actively control, although he does have some control over the shape it takes and where it places itself on his body. This is the precursor to the second form of his Avatar, although sometimes it may bypass this stage completely and go straight to the True Stage
True Stage - the true stage of his Avatar is where its true nature is revealed. Max's Avatar takes the form of a large lion. In this stage, Max is unconscious and actually contained within the large form of the lion that his power forms from water. This lion is significantly larger than an actual lion, measuring a little over 6' from foot to shoulder. Once the threat to Max is ended, the lion dismisses itself and he is returned to consciousness.
Spearman - Max is a trained military spearman, a part of a somewhat defensive force used to protect the main lines of battle against cavalry charges. To this end, he was taught several different kinds of defensive fighting techniques to use with his power, along with the effortless way he wields his war-pike, due to his extensive training with the weapon.
Powers/Abilities to be gained: Summon : Donovan - Max summons the ghost of his friend since childhood, Donovan Erot, to aid him. Donovan attacks with a spectral sword and helps protect Max from enemies, since he's already dead and cannot die again. There is no special summon charm or anything involved in this process. Despite being a ghost, he can be "damaged" and once he takes so much abuse, he is immediately sent back to the underworld.
Magic - Aero/Aerora/Aeroga
Weapon(s): Max carries with him a special spear made by Rellen, after he rescued her from the Dark XII on Disney Castle, that at Max's will produce a shield from its tip to protect him. Also, if he throws the spear and hits a heartless, or other enemy, with it, a bubble shield will expand inside the target, with…explosive results.
He also carries with him a special longsword, named Quicksilver, with a thinner-than-usual blade. It has an ornate design, with a black steel blade. The hilt is silver with gold trim.
Weapons/Weapon Abilities to be gained: Ability for Quicksilver: Magic Conductor - Quicksilver is made of certain type of special metal that conducts magic very well. For quicksilver specifically, when aero magic is used, It widens and lengthens the cutting edge of the sword by way of swirling winds that surround the actual physical blade. The stronger the aero magic used, the wider and longer the edge becomes. Also, it can shoot out more accurate and concentrated, though less powerful, whirlwinds from its blade when used in conjunction with aero magic.
Picture (Optional): None
Appearance: He stands at about 5'7" tall, has dark brown hair, brown eyes, and wears glasses. He is really thin, which belies his actual strength. He currently is wearing his old battle armor, which consists of a light chainmail shirt with short sleeves for his upper body, along with a padded leather vest to go over it. The vest has the symbol of Dryden, a Dragon within a circle clutching a sword and shield in its talons, emblazoned on the chest. On his legs, he wears a simple pair of pants with small padded leather armor strapped on his legs on top of them to protect his upper leg and shins. On his feet, he wears a pair of heavy, black leather combat boots, and a small cloak is attached to the shoulders of his vest. The armor he wears is nearly impossible to break, although it does not prevent blows from inflicting blunt force damage to his body. He has a trio of scars across his face from where he was attacked by the Heartless.
Personality: He is usually carefree and easy going, liking to joke around with his friends. He is a very loyal friend, and will stand with his friends to the end. He prefers to keep from fighting if possible, but will not hesitate to jump into a fight either.
He has a volatile temper, but rarely lets it get away from him. When his temper does get away from him, he becomes extremely aggressive, which causes him to become really aggressive when he fights. Although he is impulsive even when not angry, he is even more-so when he is angry. This impulsiveness tends to get him into bad situations, even though he is usually able to get himself out of them.
When he isn't blindingly angry, though, he is a more defensive fighter, using his water controlling abilities to block attacks he can't dodge, and then counterattacking at the first opportunity.
He is a very trusting person, usually taking people at their word without any verbalized question. He is also a very forgiving and merciful person, usually giving multiple second chances before finally being pushed to the point where he doesn't let someone have another chance and letting someone go when he beats them in a fight.
This, of course, is not extended to heartless.
Original World: The Kingdom Of Strife
Current Residing World: N/A, he is a wanderer.
History/Background: Max was born to a poor family in the world named The Kingdom of Strife. He showed an affinity for the Kingdom of Strife's Elemental Magic and was sent to the military academy at the age of 14. During the three years he spent there, he learned various ways to fight and how to better utilize his elemental magic. He was taught how to proficiently fight with almost every type of weapon, including swords, spears(the ones he practiced with the most), shields, staves, maces, and axes. By the time he was through with the Academy, he was at the top of his class.
When he graduated, he was inducted into the Army to help in the fight against the rebels. It was at about this time that the Heartless began to show up. They first started showing up in small groups, the Shadow heartless coming from the Mountain of Twilight far to the west. Then, more and more of them started coming, along with many other types of heartless, such as the Darkballs, Defenders, and Big Bodies. They started coming in droves, washing over everything in their path.
They all moved in the direction of Fort Sentra, which was where the Keyhole for the Kingdom of Strife was located. The Army fought hard and long to keep them away from it, but the Heartless continue to push slowly closer, due to the fact that the Army had to fight a two front war against the Heartless and the Rebels.
Finally, after 3 long years of hard fighting against both the Heartless and the rebels, the Royal Army finally failed to hold back the Heartless, and the Kingdom of Strife was destroyed as Heartless poured into the keyhole. Max, who was in the fortress where the keyhole was located, was knocked unconscious as the Kingdom of Strife was destroyed, and when he woke up, he was in a strange town.
That was three months ago, and now, he has managed to get ahold of a gummi ship and is now looking for a way to restore his world. This gummi ship has an AI named Ciraph that runs everything for him. All he needs to do is tell it what he wants it to do, and it performs everything automatically for him.
Shortly after obtaining his gummi ship, he began to explore the other worlds outside of Traverse Town. As he did, he stumbled across a world called Twilight Town, where he met Mikael Darrow and Erika Monika, both of which he would eventually make good friends with. He ended up fighting alongside them ,as well as others, to run off strange white creatures that had suddenly appeared. After they ran them off, Erika agreed to help Max find a way to restore his destroyed world.
And so, the two traveled across the worlds, searching for any information on how to restore a world lost to the heartless. On the way, they encountered many different people, including a strange humanoid Heartless that seemed to retain its intelligence, a man who could manipulate shadows and use them to fight, and one man who even used his very
bones to fight. Eventually, though, it all came to an end.
During an excursion to the underworld to save a friend they had made during their travels, Rubix, Erika sacrificed her own life to save their friend's. With the loss of the girl who had become one of his best friends, Max tried to bring things together and continue his search. However, with each world he visited, he continued seeing the horrors that the Heartless wreaked everywhere, and so along with another one of his best friends he'd made since his world's destruction, Mikael, he formed a small group that dedicated themselves to defending the worlds from the Heartless, and hoped to one day do away with them completely.
It wasn't long afterward that he'd ended up being attacked by a large group of Heartless, and was gravely wounded. Luckily, he was found by an old man named Merlin, who managed to help him recover, with the aid of magic, in just a few months….
Role Playing Sample: Max shook his head and looked around at his surroundings, taking in everything. He was sprawled out on the ground in an alleyway near a stack of wooden crates. There were dozens of stars in the sky above him. But there was something off about this sky. It wasn't the sky he was used to....
This sky was different.
He slowly sat up with a small grunt, rubbing his head and still staring up at the stars. There was definitely something different about it. The stars weren't where they usually were. He studied the night sky often, and knew the position of all the stars that were visible, as well as when they faded and moved in the sky.
He tore his eyes away from the heavens and looked around at his surroundings again. He still had his war pike in his hand, holding it with a death grip. He laid it down to the side just long enough to pull himself to his feet and picked it back up again, standing up straight.
He looked back up to the sky, taking it in one more time, before turning and walking out of the alleyway, moving quietly and cautiously, pike held in both hands.
As he came out of the alleyway, he saw he was on a small rise with stairs just ahead that led down to a small square. It was a town he was in now.
He shook his head, the town feeling very cramped and enclosed compared to all the open fields and forested mountains of The Kingdom of Strife. It felt so....strange and foreign to him.
He shook his head and turned as someone came walking nearby, apparently heading down to the square.
"Hey...um.....excuse me," he said, putting a hand out, aiming the head of his pike down toward the ground,"Can you tell me where I am?"
"Oh, new here?" the man said, stopping and giving Max a small, friendly smile,"You're in Traverse Town."
"Traverse Town?" Max asked, raising an eyebrow at the man,"Never heard of it."
"It's a place of haven for people who've survived the destruction of their world," the man said, nodding,"Mine was destroyed by the heartless three years ago.....how about yours? Did it just get destroyed?"
The scientists on his world had never discovered a world called Traverse Town. They had found a couple of other worlds through observation, but they were incredibly far away from The Kingdom of Strife. Too far for an airship to reach without traveling for several lifetimes, so they had never tried reaching them.
But now, it seemed Max was on one of these other worlds that had been observed on his own before its destruction. But, how had he ended up here?
Max shook his head and let out a small chuckle at the irony of it,"Yeah.....it was. We tried fighting them off for three years, but it didn't work. They just kept multiplying and multiplying until they numbered in the hundreds of thousands and overwhelmed us."
The other man was silent for a moment, the two of them standing there in silence for a while until, finally, he spoke again.
"I'm sorry," he said,"That's impressive, though, holding them off for three years. My world never even stood anywhere near that kind of chance. Our world was destroyed in just a couple of weeks....."
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that," Max said, "So.....what do I do now that I'm here in Traverse Town? What do most people do when they get here?"
The man shrugged.
"Most people just try to forge a new life for themselves," he said,"A few try to find ways to restore their worlds to the way they were."
Max's eyebrow raised at this. Restoring worlds? Was that possible?
"Worlds destroyed by the heartless can be restored to the way they were?" he asked the man, who shrugged.
"Who knows?" he said,"They seem to think its possible, but nobody's found a way to do it yet."
Max just stood there thinking for a little bit. If he could find a way to restore The Kingdom of Strife, he could go home, but the result would likely end up repeating itself, and a second time around, he might not be so lucky as to survive the world's destruction.
However, if he found some way to fight the heartless that would turn the tide of the fight in the Kingdom of Strife, then he could search for a way to restore his world and run the shadowy creatures away so that it wouldn't be destroyed again right away.
"Thank you," Max said, a smile spreading across his face as a plan formed,"Have a good day."
He gave the man a cordial nod and, without even waiting for a response, ran off, his cloak flapping in the air behind him as he sped through the streets of Traverse Town.
