Name: Nessie
Nickname: Ness, The Loch Ness Monster (but she takes offense to being called a "monster".)
Age: Despite her youthful, young adult appearance, she is quite old. Perhaps even hundreds of years old, based on sightings and legends of her.
Gender: Female
Species: Water dragon
Position: Neutral
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills:Swimming - Nessie is a very proficient swimmer, able to gracefully shoot through water with great control and speed.
Teary Eyes - If Nessie cries for a long enough time, she would be able to cause a mini flood or a huge explosion of water to distract/knock back foes. It takes up to three posts for her to reach that point, and she has to have been immensely offended or saddened.
Animal Speak - Nessie can understand and speak with both english-speaking humans and most animals.
Items: Her "wee friend", a yellow rubber ducky named MacQuack that she always carries around in a small sack. Also in the sack is a small tree branch, which she uses as a tooth brush. To an extent, it could possibly be used as a weapon, not that she's some sort of weapons master or something.
Picture:Appearance: A blue-green, smooth-skinned reptile. Roughly 15 feet tall. She has a pair of big almond-shaped eyes, thick eye lashes, a tuft of scruffy red hair on her head, a pig-like snout, and big floppy ears (or ... gills). Her head is connected to a very skinny neck. Her whole, tubby body is a blue-green color, with a much lighter green streak running down her belly. Her arms are slightly short for her size. They're floppy and end with small delicate hands. Her feet are huge, floppy, and webbed. To top it off, her body leads to a large tail that ends with a fin.
She usually wears a green and red-plaided tam o' shanter and scarf.
Personality:A friendly, easy-going water dragon that loves nature and playing games. Nessie doesn't mind the company of others, so long as they aren't rude, mean, or obviously greedy. However, being a wild creature that lived mainly around animals for her whole life, she can be quite shy when around humans. Nessie lives either to relax or have fun, and tries not to take things too seriously. When forced to get serious, however, she does what she can to get direct to the point and appear strong and confident in herself.
Nessie does suffer a bit from a moping problem, though. When faced with odds that she can't (or refuses to) beat, she'll mope about and think about it for a long time. Some times she'll even cry or get teary-eyed about it. But she doesn't allow that to stop her. She'll always try to think through her problems while in this depressed state, no matter how long it takes.
She shows much care and love for her wee best friend, the rubber ducky, and treats it almost like a living being.
Original World: The Scottish Highlands
Current World: Traverse Town
Movie: The Ballad of Nessie
History:Nessie hatched from an egg many years ago in a small lake of Scotland, with her parents nowhere to be seen. Just a small, tiny reptile, she stayed submerged in the lake for much of her childhood, trying to keep out of sight of humans. She would only leave the lake if she felt a bit more brave or adventurous, like if she wanted to spy on human activity or play around with the enviroment around her. During one of these ventures, she found a small, black-eyed, yellow duckling. The bird did not move or react much at all to her presence, but the moment she poked it, it squeeked! Perplexed, she squeeked it again and again. This noisy little duck proved to be a very fun playmate! It did nothing to threaten, harm, or even scare her! It just squeeked!
From that day onward, Nessie took the little ducky, her wee friend MacQuack, everywhere she went! Having a trusting, loyal, loving companion made her feel much braver. She felt strong enough to face the mysteriousness of life, and finally left her home in the lake, knowing she'd have someone to always be by her side. The young dragon and duck began adventuring around the parts of the isles that were uninhabited by humans. Places where they could laugh and frollick together with no fear of being harmed.
As she grew older, Nessie began searching for another new home. One where she and her wee friend could relax and enjoy in in peace. They settled for a tiny waterfall and pond. It was a perfect place for playing, bathing, and brushing her teeth! Nothing wrong happened there for years to come! Until that one dark day came.
A huge wave of humans swarmed into her land. They rushed in, reshaping the landscape and destroying all of the nature as quickly as they came. Nessie found herself kicked out of her home by a pair of golden gates. Her home was taken over ... to be replaced by a golf course!
This angered and saddened the water dragon to nearly no end. She nearly bursted into tears if it weren't for the advice of a flying-by sea-gull. "Keep a stiff upper lip. Never cry. Be a braveheart. Chin up now. Pip pip." At these words, Nessie packed what little she had and set out for another home. She looked all over the countryside for a well, a river, a lake. But each and every area visited was always taken by either humans or the local animals, who weren't usually inclined to share.
At last, finding herself defeated, Nessie stopped off at the top of a hill. She tried remembering those words "Chin up now. Pip pip." but they did nothing more than show her how weak she could be in the face of a challenge. She allowed her emotions to completley take her over, and she began crying, and crying, and sobbing, and bawling. Surprisingly, she did this for many days non-stop. The accumulating tears began rushing down to the bottom of the hill. And slowly, it began building up.
It wasn't until she ran out of tears that she decided to take a look at the world around her ... she was surrounded by a new, huge loch! It had been formed by all of those wild tears. Nessie took her wee friend and they both happily dove into the waters around them. They played with the fishes, rocketed through the waters, and began playing their favorite game: hide and seek. They and the loch would remain there for many long years. And no one was there to take it away from them!
Years later, another new invasion of her home would begin. But not by greedy, careless humans. Instead, this one was the result of a heartless invasion of the entire world. Fiendish, shadowy monsters formed all around the loch. Nessie just barely had enough time to pack her friend and supplies before the monsters took over the whole loch. She desperately ran away from the monsters, but every direction she went was infested by them. Finally, the whole world was swallowed up by darkness.
Nessie will soon find herself in Traverse Town.
Role Playing Sample: Nessie looked slowly to her left, then to her right. Not a single shadowy beast, being, or bogie in sight. The water dragon took her seat at the base of a tree, covered by the blackness of the branches' shadows. Surely those dark monsters won't find her here. She rummaged through her traveling sack and pulled out MacQuack. She cradled the little duckling closely to her, assuring him that everything would be alright.
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine. Everything will be alright. We'll ... we'll wait this out ... We'll wait for the monsters to leave. Then we'll be able to return to our home ..." She whispered to him, but was mostly just trying to reassure herself.
The water dragon's large eyes scanned the dark forest around her. The place looked empty, besides the presence of MacQuack and herself, but it didn't
feel very empty. She knew what it was like to be alone, and this did not feel the same. Just to confirm her feelings, or spite her hopes, a cold touch was felt on her shoulder.
Nessie immediately rocketed into the air with fright, still tightly holding onto her wee friend and possesions. She looked back and saw another one of those dark monsters rise from the shadows that she had been sitting in. This sent a horrible chill up her spine. Nessie shook her head and straightened out her hat as she started to run.
More shadow monsters appeared from the darkness of the trees. Some of them tiny, some of them large. But all of them with piercing yellow eyes. They chased after Nessie, getting closer and closer to her large, frantically wagging tail. One of the beasts even managed to wrap its claws around the very tip of her tail, but by sheer instinct, the monster was slapped aqay quite a distance.
Nessie peered far ahead and saw a rapid river. It would be dangerous to swim in, but at least she would get away from these creeps. The water dragon dove into the churning waters, leaving the shadowy monsters on land, scanning the waters for their huge, scaly prey.
Ness, her soaking hat and scarf now tucked away into her sack, controlled her swimming as best as she could in the swirling environment around her. She knew it was an insane stunt, but she'd done some weirder things when pursued by humans. The water dragon found herself being pushed farther along the rivers against her will. The insanity occuring within the water and the knowledge of the horrid darkness everywhere on the surface soon got the best of her mind. Nessie, still forced down the river, blacked out ...
She carefully opened her eye-lids. She felt dry. Not wet, cold, or sweaty with fear. Still, her body was a bit shaky from the previous confrontation. The world was no longer darkened with shadows and terrifying images. Instead, it was quiet, pleasant, and had an air of peace. She slowly stood up. Rather than being stuck in the wilderness, Nessie found herself in a dark alleyway. In a human settlement!
The water dragon looked down at her feet and saw that her possesions had come with her. She quickly went for the sack, nearly diving right into it herself, and fished out her wee friend. She squeeked MacQuack a few times before cuddling with him. They were in a new place. It was a place full of humans, but it was better than a monster-infested world. Nessie picked up her bag and trailed off into the unknwon, side by side with her little duckling.
