Name: Zidane Tribal
Nickname: Angel of Death, Monkey Boy.
Organization XIII or Dark XII Nickname:Age: 18
Gender: Male
Species: Genome
Position: Chaotic Good
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Master Thief - His specialty. With impressive stealth, Zidane is able to approach an unsuspecting victim and rummage through their pockets/belongings, taking whatever he chooses. While his skill is highly refined thanks in part to training at an young age, Zidane still manages to fail on occasion, especially if a situaction focused on a tactical strategy that Zidane has not familiarized himself with.
Acting - A surprising trait for some - Zidane can act well enough to save his life. Having studied plays extensively along with his group of performers/bandits, they were able to put on an exciting play and capture a Princess at the same time.
Silence - Only avaliable with the daggers 'Mage Mashers'. Passive. Zidane slices a foe with one of his daggers, inflicting a status effect that prevents a foe from using magic. This ability does not have guranteed succeess. Effect last for two posts and has a cooldown of four posts before it can be attempted again.
Soul Blade - Only available with thief swords. Zidane channels the soul of 'The Ogre' onto the enemy, inflicting them with the status effect 'Darkness', which hinders their ability to see. Doesn't always work, effect lasts for three posts and has a cooldown of five posts due to the drainage of energy, which leaves him in a short state of vulnerability (one post).
Trance - His most unique ability; given to him by his creator. Triggered by a surge of emotion, a brilliant light consisting of crackling purple and pink energies surrounds the genome, changing his appearance entirely. He gains access to stronger abilities, even eventually unlocking new, dormant attacks as he explores trance, however this heightened state is only temporary and because of Zidane's young age, as well as the pure energy that is given off he suffers fatigue and must regain his strength once this form ends. (Lasts for three posts: once per thread)
Free Energy - One target. Only available in trance. Zidane summons his energy to unleash five consecutive explosive attacks on the enemy, each with its unique symbol. The sudden manifestation of energy leaving him stuns the young genome, leaving him prone to enemy attack. (One post cooldown)
Tidal Flame - Multiple Targets. Only available in trance. Focusing his energy, a series of symbols circles around the enemies before a large wave of fire crashes against them, enveloping them in a world of flames. This move takes time to charge before it can be used, meaning Zidane is left defenseless until the move is cast. (First post charge, Second post unleashes)
Weapon/Items:Zidane dual wields a pair of daggers called the Mage Mashers, which are colored by a light lavender, and curves in a slight sickle shape. Has the ability inflict silence upon a direct hit. It doesn't always work as intended, though when it does, it prevents the foe from casting magic for two posts, and can only be attempted again after a four post cooldown. He holds them in a backhanded manner in battle. Perfectly complimenting his lithe body, the blonde is able to put the hurt on someone without sacrificing one of the most important attributes a thief should possess: agility. Zidane was taught the ways of the dagger at a young age by his adoptive father, Baku.
The Mage Mashers are able to interlock together at each respective handle, forming what is known as a swallow blade, or thief sword. This particular blade, named ‘The Ogre’ stands tall (slightly taller than Zidane…which actually isn’t much, considering he’s on the short side) as it is held at the middle handle and primarily focuses on raw power. While powerful and able to be held with one hand, it doesn’t compliment the male’s speed as much as his daggers would, meaning less versatility, more attack power. Zidane is able to disconnect and connect these in seconds which he often changes according to the situaction at hand.

i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt218/Flyer332/Final%20Fantasy%20Dissidia/Ex%20Mode/Dissidia_Zidane_Tribal_ex.pngAppearance: The first thing one will notice is his prehensile monkey tail. It's long, by length it matches roughly three quarters of his height. His skin tone is an healthy tan color. Given his stature of five foot three, he's shorter than your average joe. He sports a lean frame that supports his quick actions though he is also a bit on the skinny side.
His hair is an unruly blonde which reaches his upper back. Several layers make up his hair while its rear ending portions are tied in the back, leaving his bangs to be untamed. His eyes are made up of a brilliant blue.
Zidane's usual outfit consists of a dark greenish blue vest with belts wrapping each side, along with a sleeveless white shirt worn under, a folded collar sticking over said vest. Near the base of his neck is a white ribbon. Light green gloves covers his hands along with abnormally large blue cuffs that travel halfway up his forearms. He wears multiple belts that are strapped around his waist in an erratic fashion, with one end hanging near his thigh. Strapped onto his side over the maze of belts is a brown sheath that's made to house his daggers.
He wears baggy blue pants which does little to cover his rather large thighs - yet another abnormal trait. A single pocket rests on the side of each pant leg. His boots are metallic colored and white. These boots rise up high, covering almost the entirety of his lower leg pants.
In trance mode, Zidane's body structure remains primarily the same, except the male loses his clothes entirely, only to be replaced by pink fur which glows with a mix of white that covers most of his body, only partially revealing his skin around the arms, legs, and abdomen. His hair also grows slightly longer around the bangs and ponytail.
Personality: "You don't need a reason to help people."Simply put, Zidane can be quickly labeled as a flirt if one merely witnesses him interacting with the ladies, which he enjoys doing, especially with Alexandrian Princess Garnet. Of course, there's more to him than meets the eye. The blonde is actually a genuinely nice guy with a heart of gold. His infamous mantra labeled above describes him well, but under his ability to console others with a smile, to cheer people up and meet them at their point of need with his abundant optimism lies a blonde who masks his pain and keeps his issues to himself. Despite his many friends and buddies he harbors a deep loneliness that, like his problems, he keeps to himself.
He has no problem bragging about his abilities; while he's confident, he's also clearly cocky. Zidane is primarily a free spirited person, one who does not place limits on himself. He does whatever he wants, roam wherever he wants, and steals whatever he wants. If someone manages to get under his skin, Zidane will not hesistate to express this verbally or with contorted facial expressions. Heck, you might even have a dagger stuck up the wrong side of the tree.
Zidane didn't realize at first, but Garnet had more of an effect on him than he thought. His respect and adoration for her grew, not because of her royal tone and her backside, but because of how she changed over the course of the adventure. Zidane learned what true love felt like, he learned what it meant to protect someone with your life.
He also toned down his flirting considerably when he realized he loved her.
Despite pushing everyone away at one point due to a huge bout of loneliness, it was Garnet who helped him out of it, telling him to believe in her, just like Zidane believed in everyone. Because of that, while the blonde still suffers from pain and anguish, Zidane learned that he didn't have to shoulder everything by himself; his friends had his back, just like he had theirs.
Zidane can be considered a natural when it comes to leading. He has led a team consisting of himself and seven others of differing backgrounds that saved the world in the past. Despite the fact that not everyone warmed up to the happy go lucky male at first, he draws people in with his personality, which causes them to respect some of the many aspects about who he is.
Original World: Terra (He lived here until the tender age of six, when he began living on Gaia)
Current World: Traverse Town
Movie/Video Game(s): Final Fantasy IX, Dissidia, Dissidia Duodecim
History:Zidane's history starts off on the desolate world of Terra, where he was born. He wasn't born like a normal person, he was created through a cell called "genome". Genomes were planned to be used as vessels for the departed souls of Terra.
Zidane's case was different. Given a soul, he was created specifically to be an "Angel of Death", whom causes death and destruction for other planets, so that the poor planet of Terra can assimilate with it. (Terra lives on the reaping of other planets) There was one other Angel of Death before him, one whom was also experimental but possessed inferior qualities to Zidane. He grew jealous of Zidane's superiority and kicked him off Terra and deposited him onto the more lively world of Gaia at the age of six. Having forgotten his Angel of Death mission, he was found and picked up by the leader of an infamous band of thieves, called Tantalus.
There, he grew up in the town of Lindblum, raised in the art of thievery with the other Tantalus members all while developing his own unique personality. The band of thieves were rather jovial and this rubbed off him. While Zidane was happy, Zidane knew that he was different compared to everyone else in the world. Having noticed his alienation, Zidane made it his personal mission to find out where he came from. Leaving the band and rejoining several times he has searched Gaia for his roots only to come up short each and every time.
It was at the age of sixteen when he along with the rest of Tantalus recieved a mission to kidnap the Princess of Alexandria. Little did Zidane know that this was only the start of his adventure of self discovery. He meets Princess Garnet during unforeseen circumstances and is instantly smitten with her, not hesistating to hit on her. However...there was something about that girl, though, something that caused him to worry about her above all else, something that drove him to help her out no matter what. And it wasn't her overly royal tone. Garnet eventually takes on an alias to disguise herself as she traveled, choosing the name "Dagger" after Zidane's choice of weaponry. Because of their opposing personalities, her royalness and his free spiritedness, they grow
as people.
Along the way of his adventure he sees Gaia suffer in ways unimagineable. Towns were wiped out, people died. After traveling with the Princess for some time, both witness the death of the Queen of Alexandria and Dagger's mother, Queen Brahne, due to a man named Kuja.
This affects them both in several ways. Dagger is forced to take the throne since the King perished. She is saddened because of her departure from the party and Zidane but she had to do what was best for her country. Zidane however...was at the bar. Drinking heavily upon the realization that he couldn't be without her. It was during this brutal time that he realized how much he loved her, and the first time he's felt something serious for a lady.
Eventually Dagger prioritizes the world over her country once it too, was destroyed. Not without an emotional struggle, however, and help from Zidane, however. Zidane and the others realized they needed to travel to a world called Terra due to its apparent link with Kuja.
Zidane would never believe his eyes. On this empty blue planet, in a small town called Bran Bal he discovered people who looked exactly like him - emotionless beings who had no soul. It pissed off a very infuriated Zidane and drove him to get answers.
It was then he learned that Kuja was his brother of sorts, the inferior Angel of Death, and that Zidane's real purpose was to cause hell and destruction on his home - Gaia. Needless to say he didn't take this well but his friends supported him, especially the girl he loved. Dagger's caring and supportive words turned him away from becoming Garland's true Angel of Death and helped him to rely on his friends more. It was then that Kuja, in a fit of rage destroyed Terra, and proceeded to attempt the same with Gaia. He was stopped, and the world was saved. Zidane did however try to rescue his brother from his untimely death, taking a large risk of saving him within a collapsing dungeon despite his attempt to wipe out everything. Unfortunately he too, became submerged and wasn't heard from in over a year, much to the worry of his comrades. He did however make a dramatic return during a yearly play, pleasantly surprising a saddened Queen Dagger, whom reached out and embraced him on the spot.
Post Adventure: Gaia's destruction. A year later.
After saving the world and escaping that terrible dungeon, a year afterword Zidane kicked back at the Tantalus Hideout in Lindblum, basking in the peace when a sudden knock on the door interrupted the blonde's nirvana. Behind the door was a guard from Lindblum whom alerted Zidane to some kind of attack going on in the neighboring town of Alexandria, the castle in particular. It was an attack that puzzled him, considering the opposing army according to the soldier, consisted of pitch black monsters with beady glowing eyes. Zidane couldn't believe this, since that description was similar to black mages. One of his best friends was a black mage! On top of that, his wonderful canary was in Alexandria! He couldn't lounge around while she was in trouble.
Overwhelming worry pulsed through him as he made his way over to the castle town of Alexandria. While thoughts of Dagger coursed through his mind he reasoned with himself that she was most certainly capable of handling herself in a crisis like this, and that the civies needed more help. Besides, Rusty and Beatrix, Dagger's most respected protectors, wouldn't let her suffer a scratch. Zidane made no hesistation as he charged headfirst into the fray along with Alexandria's army, going at it with everything he had, all while getting those whom were defenseless to safety. Despite his valiant efforts, they were rendered null and void as a great darkness swept over the world.
The black creatures only multiplied in number, easily overthrowing the Alexandrian army. Zidane, realizing how bad this situaction was, turned tail and fled, taking those were able to run with him. The outside perimeter of the castle was surrounded by hundreds of heartless, and this prompted him to take the high road, leading his party of citizens higher and higher, eventually reaching the roof. All hope seemed lost as the creatures wasted no time in reaching the helpless group of people, when a mysterious portal opened in front of the very party just as the black as night monsters leapt at them. After yelling orders to follow him, Zidane, excersizing his agility was able to weave through the opposition and jumped into the random portal, his mind generally assuming that Dagger summoned this portal to help them.
Round and round he went, passing through a myriad of colors before blacking out completely. After what felt a millenia Zidane opened his eyes to bear witness to a completely different sight that resembled little of Alexandria.
Little did he know that he arrived at Traverse town, where the adventure of a liftetime awaited the young genome. Pulling himself onto his feet, he looked up to the dark sky, turning a full rotation, taking in all of the odd sights and people with confusion altering his feautures. Dagger's safety was the first thing that came to mind. Was she safe? Did those black things get her? What happened with Alexandria and the others?
"Dagger...everyone...sit tight, 'cause I'm gonna find you guys."Not long after resolving himself, he took to the streets running, searching for his canary, his friends, anyone that was from Alexandria. Someone or something had the answers to all of this, above all else, though, he just wanted to see his Dagger.
Role Playing Sample: (One of my last posts with him from another site.)
Alexandria seemed to be the boiling pot of the world it seemed. The very place had suffered for things beyond its control, things that lacked proper retribution, but worst of all the emotions of its residents were subject to the twists of turns of the unknown. One look into the eyes of an Alexandrian and one could easily discern the plights that that particular person had endured. The sadness of one usually determined the unfortunate loss of a loved one; the smile normally represented the joy amid the chaos, the hope for a positive future despite the forever multiplying setbacks shoved in their face.
Zidane, however, didn’t need eyes to recognize pain.
The dank walls of the circle framed room were the epicenter of it all. The small flames that whirled around were the only known source of light, twirling in slow dances as the blonde kept his attention focused as far away from the other occupant as possible, knowing that she had every right as Queen to reprimand him for his unjust acts, his detrimental destruction that caused hurt to the very people that she had been subject to for years on end.
His tail dragged itself across the ground, eyes kept its unperturbed focus on the empty walls even as his ears picked up on the melancholy tone of Alexandria’s ruler. Those following sentences stirred something within in his being though there was no physical evidence of this. Zidane knew…she needn’t voice it but her “death” had to be apart of something greater and judging by the way this panned out in those blue hues, it was all faked. His initial thought was ‘Why?’ In the course of seconds, it cleared in his mind and with that realization came the reason for his emptiness.
A sudden hand gently grasped at his cheek, filling his stone cold face with a warmth that only compared to her white magic but still, his vision remained forcefully averted from those soft chocolate hues of hers, not daring to face the other in a failed attempt to keep his feelings hidden. Her display of affection only doubled the reserved guilt, for it was indeed her that caused him to perform a complete one eighty on the world. However, no matter how Garnet phrased it, his volatile actions showed something that only few could ascertain.
He was weak.
Too weak to keep his feelings in check, too weak to handle things better, hell, he even wondered why he thought of becoming King in the first place! No King would act in such a manner, no Angel of Death deserved the affection that he received. Taking a slow but deep inhale, he heaved out a sigh that was brought with it the ability to finally fabricate words.
“Gar-your Highness, I can’t.” He shrugged. “ I can’t be happy, not after all this. I willingly slaughtered thousands, Dagger ! I’m no better than Kuja!” A gloved hand hurriedly went to the back of his still adorned Marcus cloak, throwing the hood over his head letting it mask his eyes as his head dipped downward, fallen bangs further obscuring his clouded hues as a wetness pooled together and stained the floor beneath him. Visions of his buds, Tantalus, came and passed and with it, bowed still bowed in shame, he turned, slowly making his towards the wretched coffin, laying eyes on the dulled stone in front of him, instantly thinking of Bahamut and the siege it brought in summons past.
Zidane grasped the rock in his hands, and after giving it one last sullen gaze, made his way back to Garnet and gently took her hand, turning it on its backside and raising it just below his face level to implant a kiss on her creamy skin before imparting his possession onto it. It was a wonder that the blonde was even able to do this considering the barely worn corset that she currently donned but his own personal feelings overpowered the nervous spikes that currently surged inside of him. After what could have been considered millennia did he actually deem himself worthy to look into her eyes, feelings manifesting themselves in his broken expression. “Garnet…you’re right. You and I, we both deserve to die. But,” he took her hand in the both of his, a formal gesture, “if anyone, you deserve to be happy, ‘specially after all I put you guys through.”
Taking two steps back away from her, he whirled around on the spot after slowly exposing blonde locks to the world, did he begin to remove the dark cloak from his person. It only took seconds and newly exposed arms flinched as a cold breeze passed through, but for what Zidane was about to do, it would be worth the sacrifice. His lips curled into a rueful and smile and he opened the cloak wide, inviting the Queen to put her slender arms through the held sleeves. It was as if he were a mere servant dressing the Queen just before an extravagant occasion.
Once she donned the clothes and only after buttoning the cloak to his satisfaction did that smile disappear from his face.
“Garnet...justice needs to be served. Those people—your people deserve, happiness just like you. They need to someone to blame. Someone to serve justice. In order to do that…I’m gonna turn myself in.”
