Name Myde.
Nickname Idiot and moron.
Organization XIII or Dark XII Nickname The Impromptu Rhapsodist
Age Myde was in his early twenties when he lost his heart to the Heartless, and so that is what his body resembles. However, he’s only been a Heartless for about ten years.
Gender Male.
Species Heartless.
Position Chaotic and dark.
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills Myde’s element is Water, and in the Kingdom Hearts universe, this means he is weak to Fire. He has control over lesser Heartless – being a Heartless himself – and also can control a specific, stronger species of Heartless named
Sirens (more information about them later on). Like most other Heartless, he has the Corridors of Darkness available to him. He is a weak fighter with too much emphasis on dramatics, and thus has two primary weapons available to him:
Serenade, his keyboard – used for long range – and
Rhythm & Blues, his tap shoes – used for close range.
Long-Ranged Attacks: SerenadeFrom far away, Myde can summon Serenade – typically stationing himself in the very back of whatever group he might be fighting with. He also sometimes sings along and provides upbeat background music (typically a juxtaposition to whatever horrible fight might be happening at the time). His long-ranged attacks are the stronger of his attacks.
He can only use one long-ranged attack per post.Siren Summon – Myde typically starts off battles by summoning his Heartless, the Sirens (described in detail later). He plays a peculiar, haunting tune, and the baddies rise up from the ground like liquid darkness and close in on their prey. Once he’s done with the melody, he cannot summon more until all of his Sirens have been slaughtered.
One post of playing allows nine Sirens to be summoned, true to his number. He cannot use this move again until all Sirens are gone.Sonatina of Rain – Myde can use this melody to have it start raining on the battlefield, which increases the potency of his abilities. However, as this is summoned rain and not natural, it only lasts for a short period of time. This could be a bad move, however, for any of those on his side that are weak to water, as it could make their powers less potent.
One post of playing allows the rains to come, and are diminished after three rounds of posting.Waterfall Tremolo – Myde can select three enemies where, after playing these notes, summons a vertical jet of harmful water to splurge up from underneath them, propelling them up to nine feet into the air. (Unless they’re careful, the fall back down could hurt as well.)
One post of playing allows three jets of water to be summoned underneath three different foes.Liquid Glissando – Myde can select enemies that are standing next to each other and summon a horizontal jet of harmful water on one side of them to gush at them. The one closest to the spurge would receive the most amount of damage, and possibly be knocked into their teammate.
One post of playing allows one jet of water to be summoned to the side of a line of foes.Grand Crescendo – Myde’s most powerful attack; he summons up a huge wave of harmful water to submerge enemies. The wave bubbles up right at his keyboard, and then rises up and crashes into everyone directly in front of him for a good twenty-nine feet. Allies and neutrals can be caught in this trap as well.
One post of playing causes the summoned water to start bubbling; a second post causes the wave to emerge and attack. Three post cooldown.Short-Ranged Attacks: Rhythm & BluesShould enemies break through and actually get to where Myde is standing, he calls off Serenade and summons his tap shoes, Rhythm & Blues. Using dexterity and fancy feet to avoid getting hit, his short-ranged attacks are meant to get him further away so he can summon Serenade again to use his preferred range of attacks.
These attacks can only work on flat ground, as it involves tap dancing. He can only use one short-ranged attack per post.Time Step – Similar to his Nobody’s move “Demyx Time,” Myde summons up water clones to help him. However, he does not summon multiple clones of himself; rather, he summons water darkness clones of all of his attackers to face them head-on. If there is only one attacker, only one clone is summoned; if there are two, one of each; and etcetera. The water clones are fairly weaker, but there is the problem of needing to defeat them in a fairly short time limit; if they are not defeated, they explode in a huge, violent gush of water that is very hard to recover from. Myde uses this time to move himself – while performing the Time Step – into a safer range to summon Serenade. He himself is very vulnerable at this time, so if one can break through the clones to reach him and attack, his rhythm is thrown off and all of the clones dissipate.
Summoned in one post; time limit is two rounds. Can only be used once per battle.Jazz Square – By performing the aforementioned step, Myde conjures a jet of water to rise up from underneath his opponents – similar to Waterfall Tremolo. However, the jet only occurs in a specific square of area, nine feet by nine feet – so this is a great attack to perform when all of his attackers are close together. While it may not blast them up into the air like Waterfall Tremolo and it does quite a bit less damage, it’s still painful, and causes a nice distraction for him to run away.
Summoned in one post.Bubble Shuffle – Myde continuously shuffles his feet, and whenever they touch the ground, bubbles of dark water rise up and float ominously towards opponents. When touched, they pop into harmful water, causing only minor damage to foes. Allies can inadvertently pop them too and take damage. If the bubbles are not popped in a certain amount of time, they’ll explode on their own accord, still taking minor damage.
For every post of shuffling, Myde summons nine bubbles of water; he cannot use any other moves while shuffling.Aquatic Riff – Performing a riff allows a protective bubble of water to surround Myde and his allies for a short period of time. The bubble is nine feet by nine feet, and Myde is always in the center of it, carrying it with him wherever he goes. The bubble shield can be attacked and broken, but only under severe amounts of damage – and it lasts only a short time anyways.
Summoned in one post; lasts for three rounds of posts. Myde cannot use any other moves while in the bubble shield, and if he summons Serenade, the shield breaks early.Raindance – Myde’s last ability is a healing one; by performing this dance, he summons healing rain to heal minor wounds on his allies. Enemies that are caught in the rain are not healed. Like Sonatina of Rain, the rain summoned here is only temporary.
Summoned in one post; lasts for two rounds of posts. Three post cooldown.Myde’s talents are better used for the background instead of mainline fighting. In fact, his general sneakiness would make him better suited for reconnaissance instead of straight-up fighting. He is really wimpy when forced to use hand-to-hand combat, and is much better at dodging and staying out of the way.
Weapon/ItemsSerenade – Myde’s preferred weapon of choice. Serenade is a keyboard that contains seven octaves – which makes it just a little bit smaller than the typical piano. The thing simply floats in the air with the power of darkness when it is summoned, and Myde stands when he plays it, just in case he’d have to quickly banish it to use his close-range moves. While it is a keyboard, it has none of the electronic keyboard functions, playing like a piano – and sounding like one. Serenade’s notes are magically magnified so that when he’s playing loudly – like he has to for Grand Crescendo – the whole battleground can hear the beautiful notes. The thing is sleek and black – except for the notes – with a few swirly designs, teal in color. Though it is his weapon, Myde plays piano for pleasure as well – and, while he’s a very talented classical pianist, he prefers jazz.
Rhythm & Blues – Myde’s secondary weapon that he only uses in emergencies – when forced into close-range combat. They’re a pair of black-and-teal tap shoes that he is nearly always wearing in battle, just in case. However, the attacks for them only work on flat ground, which makes it all the more imperative that he stays far away from enemy lines. Myde is an excellent dancer, and sometimes uses them just for fun, without summoning any water magic. He is also a great ballroom dancer.
Heartless: Sirens – the Heartless that Myde controls (outside of the lesser ones). These things are a bit shorter than the average human and look slightly female. Their torsos and heads are black, with the characteristic Heartless yellow eyes. However, they possess fish tails that allow them to glide through the air as if it were water (though they are much more powerful in the water). The tails are a shimmery blue-green. They have fibers akin to waist-length hair that seem to float unnaturally about them as if they were in water, and they are colored a silvery blue. Their hands are webbed and clawed at the end. A Siren’s mouth is always open and emitting an unearthly song that distracts enemies. Their other attacks include clawing and slicing at enemies with their webbed hands and attacking with their tail, sometimes causing jets of water to spurt out of the end.
Picture N/A (unless somebody wants to draw him!)
Appearance Myde takes great care in keeping up his physical appearance. He’s attractive in a bit of the nice-guy way… which is funny, considering he’s a Heartless and the opposite of a nice guy. Wide, blue-green eyes the exact shade of Demyx’s, a boyish face, a slender build and shaggy brown hair – the same color as his Nobody’s, once again – give the appearance of a young spirit. As mentioned previously, Myde’s hair is shaggy; it’s long and artfully messy (a look that he practices every day in front of the mirror). He takes good care of his skin and body
definitely leaning on metrosexual, wanting to appear attractive.
Despite being a bit of an idiot, Myde at least wants to appear like he’s a cool guy. When he’s not donning typical Dark XII wear, he wears tight black dress pants with a white-and-black belt that echoes the imagery of a piano. He wears loose, button-down shirts – often with a few of the buttons undone – with the sleeves rolled up, and occasionally an aqua blazer over the top of that. Once in a while he’ll wear a fedora to give his boyish look a bit of mystery.
Myde has a second form when he goes full-Heartless – so, when he’s truly upset and the darkness just spills out. His skin becomes black, though his eyes keep the blue instead of changing to yellow. His hair floats unnaturally, like his beloved Sirens, and claws find their way to his long fingers. Bubbles of darkness seem to peel off of his skin and float away, giving him a watery darkness aura. He becomes a lot more wrathful as opposed to his usual even-keeled persona.
Personality Back when Myde had a heart, he could’ve been considered an endearing fellow. He was upbeat, buoyant, and likeable – even if he wasn’t particularly empathetic. The darkness in his heart that allowed him to be reborn as a powerful Heartless stemmed from his nasty flaws: cowardice, opening the gateway to selfishness and being condescending of those below him. The high value he placed – and still places – on himself was what probably stirred all of the darkness in his heart. While he is not particularly wrathful or malevolent, he does get in his own dark moods, like all of the Heartless. These moods are brought on by passion for himself, and when his cowardice fails him, he turns to his dark Heartless form for protection to save his own skin... as his skin is the only thing to him that is worth saving.
While he is not lacking in emotion, he no longer possesses the spectrum he once had. He is still energetic and rather goofy, but lacks any sort of sentimentality. Lazy and prone to boredom, Myde would much rather be working on music or dancing than engaging in any real plots – especially those with danger. When forced to do things, he can be a bit of a grump – but avoids lashing out, as conflict is not his specialty. He has fun by needling the others in the Dark XII – though quickly backs off if they ever try to retaliate, claiming that it was all “just for fun, chillax!” He is a bit more relaxed than his Nobody, almost apathetic sometimes, and a lot more attention-seeking.
But like the ever-changing ocean, Myde can toss and turn between moods. One moment, he could be bored, but pleased with it; another, Myde could crave excitement and seek the spotlight – and thus he can be prone to rash acts (where the “Impromptu” part of his name stems from). He considers himself to be quite the lady killer, and while he is a rather charming crooner, he’s not so eloquent with his speech.
When Myde takes the stage – whether it be singing or playing piano or dancing – he is completely and utterly confident in himself, not bumbling or nervous or apathetic; it’s almost as though a different person emerges. That is what gets him through fights; his abilities allow him to picture it all as one big performance. He’s not as bumbling as Demyx, maintaining a cooler and more suave aura, but still can complain loudly and annoyingly.
But a lot of his idiocy is a façade for someone a lot cleverer. Why do you think he’s so good at getting out of things? Myde never fails to pay attention and observe, and he is truly interested in the Dark XII’s cause; the harsh Heartless core of him relishes in seeing light exterminated. He can be very manipulative and play with his food in an almost-Larxene-ish manner. Myde preys on those weaker than him, as he is too much of a coward to face the stronger, quick to back off from a fight he can't win. If his triumph is a surety, he is certain to seek it out and elevate himself. Sneaky and a bit mischievous, Myde is an idiot to his superiors, but untrustworthy to whom he considers lower. He can even be a bit lewd, exuding a confidence that Demyx seems to lack.
More than anything, perhaps, Myde is utterly selfish. A narcissist with a flair for attention, everything he ever does is for himself and no one else. Get in the way of "Myde time" and the results can be ugly; force chores upon him and he can turn petty and nasty. He does what he wants, the end. Insults about his pride he can barely handle. This is what brings on his darker mean streak to take down those lower than him.
Original World ? ? ?
Current World The World That Never Was
History Once upon a time, Myde was born to a dirt-poor family in a disease-ridden slums. However, almost immediately after he was born, he gave away his knack for the musical arts by dancing in the streets and coming up with intricate beats in his home. His parents worked harder to give him piano lessons, and the money he got from concerts when he was younger helped paid things off. When he was a bit older, through means of stealth and thievery, Myde acquired his first guitar – which could’ve been considered disrespectful to his parents’ hard work, all to ensure he got a musical education.
Despite his obvious childishness, Myde was something of a musical genius, and got quite famous very quickly. He basked in the light of fame, enjoying the attention and the lack of real work it meant for him. When he started demonstrating his dancing skills, it made him all the more famous. (If he’d been born on Earth, there were those that might have started comparing him to Fred Astaire.) Dance teachers from all over the world sought him out, to teach this young prodigy something that he already excelled at.
However, it was obvious that Myde was a selfish little bugger, and a lazy one at that. Many teachers gave up in earnest when he wouldn’t practice, or be rude to them in some off-kilter way. A boy that had once seemed so endearing – with his baby face and pretty eyes and skin – now seemed disgustingly lazy; it was almost as though he hadn’t earned the fame. Just as quickly as it had come, the nastier personality he held pushed the fame away from him, making him feel truly remorseful.
In those last few years, he would play on the streets, hoping for money, for bread and food, for a drink of water. His fame came and went like the tide; sometimes people pitied the poor, talented soul, and at other times they wondered why they’d ever liked him in the first place.
And then, they came. The Heartless.
They zoned in on Myde’s darkened heart, seeing the foul creature they could make of him. Soon, Myde was – unknowingly – split in two; his heart taken, he became a Heartless and a Nobody. His Heartless self came into being, and he felt stronger, better; he sought revenge on his world for shoving him into the shadows and, with the help of the lesser Heartless, completely destroyed it.
He hadn’t a clue about his Nobody’s existence until much later, when the Dark XII found him roaming the worlds. He was clued in about Demyx’s existence, and the thought that there was somebody out there that was
just like him was too much to bear when it came to his desires for individuality. Hoping to get a clue about his new life, Myde joined up with the Dark XII, effectively becoming Number IX.
Role Playing Sample There was never anything to do in this damned castle.
Myde slouched through the corridors, grimacing; one of his moods had taken him again. A storm had unfurled across his features as he gazed upon the usual routes and hallways and ugh nothing ever CHANGED. The winds changed, the ocean changed, the whole world spun, but nothing in Ansem’s grandiose plans to take over Kingdom Hearts ever was any different. Each meeting was worse than the last. He twitched in his irritation.
… But, abruptly a calming smile broke across his face (though the tumultuous storm was not quite gone from his countenance). Oh, what was he worried about? They’d get stuff done, soon enough. Things would change, soon enough. It might take some time, he’d just have to occupy himself in the mean, that was all. Soon idiots with their pesky light-filled hearts would collapse under the might of Ansem’s rule…
Eh, thoughts like that didn’t usually get him going. Sure, he liked the collapse of the worlds as we know it as much as the next guy, but what really got his blood boiling was taking his own, quiet victim, claiming their hearts for his own. Of course, that got boring after a while, as well… but each heart was so different, and he wondered if Ansem even appreciated all the individuality that was handed to him on a silver platter. It was nice getting to know them before he took them.
Of course, he could just head back to his room and write a bit of music for a while. Hey, Beethoven was deaf when he completed some of his greatest symphonies, so if you didn’t need hearing, who said you needed a heart to create? He snickered a bit, remembering all the things that had gotten his victims going… like singing to them, for instance. Suckers.
“Myde!”
With a loud, audible groan, the brunet turned on his heels to face one of the upper members who was gazing upon him with intense dislike Myde wasn’t about to pretend that he was well-liked among the Dark XII… the lot of them might think they were better off without him. He gave a lopsided grin, but resentment curled up in his stomach. “Hey, boss, I was just – ”
“You lazy good-for-nothing, didn’t I give you a mission?”
He laced his fingers behind his head, giving off the air of being good-naturedly annoyed. “Aww, c’mon, you know I’m better at that recon stuff anyways.”
“No excuse!” was the barking reply, and then his superior stalked away, and Myde’s grin was replaced by an ugly look indeed.
“Yeah, well,” he said softly, “I’ve got my own shit to be getting on with.”
