Name: Nisshoku Enzan
Nickname: Old friends used to call him
Oku, or
Ezzy.
Age: 14 years old
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Position: Chaotic Good - Not part of any Organization
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Please keep in mind that Nisshoku is a Deaf-Mute.
Nisshoku, from a young age in his World, was trained in a throwing martial art (similar to Judo), and basic swordplay. He does not have any magical ability (as he is unable to speak, mainly), and no extraordinary powers other than the heightening of his remaining senses (sight, touch, taste and smell) due to the absence of his ability to hear from birth. Due to the training, he has slightly higher average endurance, agility, and strength than average teenagers his age, but nothing extraordinary. No super strength or speed. Just that of a well disciplined human being.
He is aware of his surroundings to a point. A shift in the air due to someone opening a door behind him, the soft
tip of nearby footfalls on hard ground that he can feel, this clues him in on changes in the surrounding area, but it's only effective when the footfalls are hard enough, or maybe that door is swung open rather than eased open. He usually keeps his back to the nearest wall for this reason.
He has exceptional survival skills, having spent time in the wilderness after his home was ransacked, the residents having been killed or kidnapped. He's able to live off the land, hunt (he's not a
great hunter), and travel for days without much sleep.
Weapon/Items:A simple bastard sword
Clicky for imgPicture:Appearance: Nisshoku is about 5' 3" tall, with medium-long gray hair and black irises. He usually wears his hat and coat, given to him by his Senseii. The Coat is intricate in design, built for warmth and protection, while the hat was made by the same material. Generally, the rest of his clothes consist of a normal denim-like pair of pants and travel boots, black gloves, and a black scarf. He is pale skinned, and skinny, but his eyes are always 'alive', looking around, taking in surroundings. An alternate outfit would be all except the jacket, and the hat, just his pants, boots, and a white tee shirt.
Personality: Nisshoku is, by personality, a normal 14 year old boy. Who is a deaf-mute.
He usually expresses a calm, collected air around him, giving kindness and trust to most people, regardless of who they are. As an innocent bystander, you could very well say that he is truly a neutral party. He knows nothing of Heartless, of Nobodies, of Keybearers or even that there are
so many worlds out there, ready to be explored. His adventurous personality makes him one that constantly moves from one place to another, which unfortunately places him always at the wrong place at the wrong time. Thankfully, he has the wit to be able to escape swiftly, or defend himself until an opening for said escape is provided.
What drives him is his inability to give up. He had several opportunities to just give up and fade away, but his volition to live brought him to his current residence, Traverse Town. He wishes to explore every world, to see everything. That's what his family would have wanted.
Original World: A land called Serentestra. It is a feudal world, with a warring kingdom set to take over all. It has since fallen to Darkness because of it's ruler.
Current World: Currently resides in Traverse Town
History:Nisshoku was born to a widowed woman by the name of Juri. Soon after his birth, he was determined to be deaf in both ears. Regardless, his mother and her fiance, Kiba, loved him greatly, naming him Nisshoku, and aspired to raise him to overcome his condition.
His father had two brothers, one, a hunter, the other, a grappler, who both lived under the same roof. They taught Nisshoku from an early age, raising him under the arts of discipline and honor, not to mention a few nifty moves to keep himself out of harm's way. His mother taught him to read and write, and read lips, while his father taught him the ways of the sword. Growing up under a caring and loving home was a rare thing in this world, which was torn apart by war and plague. It came to pass that Nisshoku would grow to be thirteen years old, having learned so much from his family that he functioned much like any other normal person. He would walk though town without help, do the shopping, and help with the animals. Anyone who didn't know him would think he had functioning ears like any other young teenager, unless they snuck up on him and tried to speak to him. He always gave the impression that he could hear, even asking people who he lip read to repeat themselves by smiling, cocking his head to the side, and lifting a hand to his ear. He always made light of his condition, and, at one time, it even saved his life.
If he had not been blissfully unaware of sounds, he would have heard the soldiers advance on his town from his spot in the forest. Had he not been blissfully unaware of the screams, the clang of steel meeting steel, he would have rushed into the town, himself, and tried to save his mother, father, and uncles. However, he did not hear the entire conflict, playing in his clearing, not knowing for a single moment that his parents, uncles, and house were no longer going to be there when he returned home. However, when he returned, a single sound could be heard echoing through their valley.
The wails of a lonely, lost child.
He sniffled, and stood quietly, hand gripping his sword, he left his empty home, his destroyed town, and tried to find his way through the thick forest to a neighboring town. The King was cruel. however, and had 'occupied' the entire province, rendering his town, and all neighboring towns to rubble. For the first time ever in his life, Nisshoku Enzan was alone. However, he knew enough of the land to survive, and lived off of the land for an entire year before the Heartless invaded. During his entire life, he, and all others in his world, were unaware of the three Keybearers that crusaded around in search for Xehanort. Growing up, he had no idea that a boy, barely three years older than him, had fought off an army of monsters, and saved the worlds twice from a Heartless and a group of Nobodies. These creatures that suddenly surfaced were unlike any animal he had ever seen, and soon after they appeared, everything suddenly rumbles, shook, broke apart, and all he saw was black.
He soon awakened in Traverse Town, confused, lost, and scared. Standing up, he looked up into the sky, the normal ring of his deafness his only company. He stood, a single tear sliding down his cheek as he wondered one thing.
What do I do now?Role Playing Sample: Nisshoku decided that, first, he needed to find a place to stay. A chill ran down his spine as the cool of the air finally hit home, bringing him fully back to Earth. He looked around, letting out a small whimper as he saw the unfamiliar surroundings. He took a deep breath, stood, listened to nothing, and started to walk.
What could a boy do around here? He felt as if he was in a completely different world! None of the architecture seemed to feel like what he was used to (cottages, some wooden buildings, not sheet rock and brick like in Traverse). His hand clasped tightly behind him on the scabbard of his sword, he swallowed and kept going, the unfamiliar territory scaring him beyond belief. What was he going to do? What if this place was like his home? Abandoned, devoid of people? He pushed some doors open to find himself in what seemed like another district of the town.
He continued to walk, slowly, until he found an awning he could sit under, and slid down the wall, crossing his legs and closing his eyes for a second. He felt like he had run twelve-hundred miles... He opened his eyes to see a kid standing in front of him. He jumped at the surprise as he realized the kid was mid-sentence.
... cold out here! You need to get inside, guy! Come on, you can stay in our guest room! Dad won't mind!Oh! He was being offered a place to stay? He nodded, and the thought of a warm bed made the air around him seem to tighten with the freezing temperature. He stood, and the kid grabbed his hand, dragging him along. He knew the kid was talking, and let out an occasional
"Hm." to give the illusion he was listening, though he couldn't tell what the kid was saying. But, he was safe, for tonight... but what would tomorrow bring?
