In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Position: 'Chaotic Good' would accurately describe Aeif better than any other alignment.
*Aeif also holds a prominent position in his home world as he appears to be a possible wielder to a sword of prophecy.
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: *Aeif's powers will grow throughout his experiences.
*Spellcasting costs mental vitality, as do skills. Overusing abilities will result in mental fatigue, which slows down reaction time and hinders the ability to use decision skills/clear judgement. Mental fatigue can be remedied by rest and sleep. Skills and spells do not need time/posts to cast unless otherwise explicitly stated.
___
The extent of ability strengths are measured by levels of proficiency, of which there are five, and a special exception.
*Level 1 The first level is "Informed", where Aeif understands a skill's theory, but not its execution. He 1. is not formally trained in it and (/or, if it can not be taught,) 2. has had little practical experience in using it.
It will take his utmost concentration to use a level one skill. Under duress, Aeif will most likely not be able to use a level one skill. He may not be able to reliably (often) reproduce the intended effect.
*Level one skills have a chance of backfiring. Backfiring cancels a spell's effect and grants the self-debuff "Delay", which slightly slows Aeif's ability to react quickly for a few seconds (one post). After a backfire, that level one skill will not fail in execution its next time. Skills that backfire show that there is potential for progress (leveling up), as opposed to a skill not executing at all. Level one skills cannot progress without being used in battle.
*Level 2 The second level is "Knowledgeable", where Aeif understands a skill's theory, but not completely its execution. He 1. is not formally trained in it and (/or, if it can not be taught,) 2. has only had some practical experience in using it.
It will take a great amount of concentration to use a level two skill. Under duress, Aeif will find it extremely difficult to use a level two skill. He can somewhat reliably reproduce the intended effect.
*Level 3 The third level is "Trained", where Aeif has a basic understanding of a skill's theory and execution. He 1. has been properly taught the ability and (/or, if it can not be taught,) 2. has had a great amount of practical experience using it.
It will take some amount of concentration to use a level three skill. Under duress, Aeif will find it somewhat difficult to use a level three skill. Aeif can almost always reproduce the intended effect.
*Level 4 The fourth level is "Experienced", where Aeif has a complete understanding of a skill's theory and execution. He 1. has been properly taught the ability and (/or, if it can not be taught,) 2. has had enough practical experience using the skill to teach it other people.
Aeif does not have to concentrate much to use a level four skill and can always reproduce the intended effect, even under duress.
*If Aeif has not been properly taught a level four ability, he will experience some amount of hardship passing this ability on.
*Level 5 The fifth level is "Mastered", where Aeif has completely understood a skill's theory and execution and has even begun to improve upon it. He 1. has been properly taught the ability and (/or, if it can not be taught,) 2. has had enough experience using the skill to teach it other people.
Aeif can execute a level five skill effortlessly and without fail, barring divine intervention. He will be able to execute a level five skill faster than normally, and will experience reduced mental stress/fatigue from using it.
*Level 0 The exception is "Incompetent", level 0, where Aeif cannot perform an ability to its desired effect because of 1. a lack of knowledge or a misunderstanding in theory and/or 2. a lack of physical or magical aptitude.
*Skills at level zero cannot be taught. Aeif is more likely to experience increased fatigue while using a level zero skill as compared to any other skill.
___
Passive Abilities (Utility)
[-Infallible Instructor-] - Mastered *Can not be taught.
An ability that allows Aeif to pass on skills he knows to other people. His ability to teach may differ depending on the situation but students do not master skills to the extent that he has.
At this rank, Aeif is able to pass on any skills he knows, as long as sufficient time is given, unless the skill is explicitly stated to not be teachable. He will not be able to accelerate the process by any means. The skill rank must have a value of three or higher to be teachable.
[-Persistent Perception-] - Trained *Can not be taught.
A natural ability that makes Aeif vigilant and more perceptive. It increases the amount of information that Aeif receives through his senses. This is reflected in a variety of small effects - for example, Aeif may notice a change in his surroundings faster than other people may, or he might be able to learn or level up a skill simply by seeing it executed.
[-Unified Tongues-] - Experienced *Can not be taught.
A natural ability that unifies (more or less) the languages Aeif speaks and hears. All who hear what he is saying will understand it in their native language, and any language Aeif hears will automatically be translated for him.
[-Magic Resistance I-] - Knowledgeable *Can not be taught.
A natural ability that diminishes the strength of negative or positive spells used on Aeif. At this rank, Magic Resistance will reduce all magic effectiveness by 10%.
[-Second Chance!-] - Mastered *Can not be taught.
An ability obtained from countless battles against instructors. This ability prevents Aeif from becoming incapacitated after suffering an otherwise fatal attack provided that he has more than 1 HP/1% HP left.
If Aeif is hit multiple times at once however, Second Chance does not activate.
Active Abilities (Interaction)
[-Ignition I-] - Incompetent *Can not be taught. >Spell, Fire damage, 1 post cooldown<
Aeif focuses intense heat at a pinpoint, creating a small fire. The fire will rapidly spread over the surface area of the object/location for several seconds before extinguishing completely.
[-Barrier I-] - Incompetent *Can not be taught. >Spell, Defense, 2 post cooldown<
Aeif creates a temporary, thin, permeable (impalpable?) wall of energy that cancels any magic that passes through it. Spell damage inflicted on the wall will eventually shatter it. At this rank, Barrier can negate up to two inferior spells (e.g. Fire, Blizzard). If Barrier cannot negate a spell because of its strength, it will instead reduce the power, effect, and speed of the spell before being destroyed.
[-Counterattack I-] - Incompetent *Can not be taught. >Skill, Defense, 2 post cooldown<
Upon taking damage, Aeif will not stagger and can immediately counterattack with a chance to critically strike the opponent, while also dealing an additional 10% of the damage inflicted upon him originally.

Accessories
Weapon/Items: Nothing equipped.
Picture:
Appearance: Aeif is a gray-haired youth with long bangs that often cover up his eyes, which are piercing green eyes. Despite spending the majority of his time outdoors, Aeif possesses abnormally pale skin - but not so that he appears sickly. He has a straight posture, standing five feet and ten inches tall. While not muscular, Aeif is toned, having no unnecessary fat whatsoever. He may appear frail considering his skin tone and build, but he is surprisingly sturdy.
Although Aeif often wears tattered clothing, he is currently wearing regal dress - he has golden dress pants, a button-up white silk shirt with a high collar, a loosely-fitting red robe, gray socks that reach up to his knees, and thick-soled black shoes. With the exception of the robe, the clothes are custom-made for him and are quite form-fitting, impractical for battle. Nothing has been broken in yet, so these grandiose threads suppress movement.
Aeif has a variety of small scars and marks from miscellaneous outdoor work; calluses on fingers and palms, thin scars on arms and knees from deep cuts, discolored patches of skin where burns were inflicted, etc.
Personality: Aeif is a soft-spoken person, having had little social contact for the majority of his childhood. Although articulate, Aeif prefers to speak with actions, as he is still getting used to people other than family members around him. He is eager to assist those around him, even strangers, as he was brought up feeling inadequate, but does not easily trust people. He is an explorer, content with old sights but interested in doing something new from time to time.
Despite this cheery outlook, Aeif is somewhat cynical due to events during his bringing. He has difficulty understanding himself as, outwardly (most likely due to other people), he may seem optimistic or happy, but inwardly, he is not.
Aeif's desire is to help his homeland people, and he fears not being able to achieve that goal.
Aeif is interested in literary works and discovering new things. He excels in learning and particularly enjoys tasting new foods and loves daydreaming outside. Aeif dislikes helplessness and dependency, and is not good with dealing with social situations (especially dealing with money).
Original World:
A place of fantasy, where magic rules in place of technology. Similar to sixteenth century Earth, people here are essentially the same as human beings, but all also have aptitude for magic or paranormal abilities.
*Information will be unlocked as Aeif's storyline progresses.
Current World: Radiant Garden.
History: From the moment that his mother died in childbirth nineteen years ago, Aeif was denounced as a person of great unluckiness; an outcast to society. Born in a small city, Aeif took the life of his mother at despite her attendants. This was a big deal - it's something that had never occurred before in the entire history of his world. Attendants provide medical attention and pain relief to expecting mothers and, for some unknown reason, all of that failed.
One distraught father left the child behind, and the matter of who would raise Aeif was thrown up into the air. A case like this had never been encountered before. Aeif was eventually adopted by a couple who could not conceive. The farmer couple would find out that Aeif's magical skills were vastly inferior to peers his age by the time Aeif took his first Coming of Age Aptitude Test. The test highlighted the differences in Aeif and the rest of the people around him. For one, the color of his hair was different from everyone elses'. For another, he could not use the energy in the surroundings to fuel magic. Because of this, he had difficulty using the most basic magical skills. Aeif would forever be an outsider.
He made efforts to succeed in primary school, but the jeers of the people around him made Aeif extremely reluctant to keep attending school. He became withdrawn and would stop attending school, opting instead to a life on the farm. Home school taught him everything he needed to know, and Aeif's life soon shrunk to the area around him. He shied away from anything that would change it, and spent the majority of his childhood with limited social contact.
Eventually, Aeif's adopted parents encouraged him to go outside into society, where he learned of the world's problems - forces of darkness in the forms of beasts and men. During a festival he was attending, some of these forces attacked. With the assistance of two people, Aeif pulled out a sword of prophecy from a stone, and helped fight these forces off.
It was then that Aeif was told that the sword could only be drawn from the stone by a worthy individual who would lead civilization to a new life, a 'revolution', and would banish the forces of evil for eternity. He was rushed to the royal city and was tested on his ability to wield the weapon. He trained many times but made little progress, failing to meet expectation time after time.
In a magical mix-up due to the frustration of his mentors, Aeif was thrown from his world and was ended up in Radiant Garden. This forced travel took a toll on Aeif's body and mind.
Role Playing Sample: "Again."
The black sword felt heavy in his hands as Aeif raised it once more. Arms groaning with the effort, the boy panted as he struggled with the weight, trying to keep it level with the ground. The tip of the weapon wavered; the boy creased his brow, cursing as beads of sweat slowly rolled down forehead into eyes, down nose, along neck. But he couldn't ease his grip on the sword - the closer the blade was to the ground, the heavier it seemed to get. He might not even be able to pick it up if he let his grip slip. Aeif took a high stance, raising the sword above his head so that the blade was pointed behind him at a forty-five degree angle.
How many times had he done this already? Time seemed to pass slowly with every duel Aeif held with the female instructor. He didn't know her name, but she had more than proven her skill as a swordswoman, besting him without fail in the three skirmishes they had fought already. The boy did not have experience in combat prior to today, but the gap in skill between he and the person across from him boggled Aeif. The long-haired woman did not even have to use sorcery in each fight, hurting his already bruised pride. This would make the fourth duel.
There was an almost audible pause in the activity of the world as the two stared down each other.
And in the span of a breath, she had already closed the distance between them - five whole feet - and was in the middle of swinging down her own silver steel. Aeif shifted his hand, shifted his posture, and allowed the deadly metal to slide off his to the grating sound of sword-on-sword. She spun with it, turning the vertical slice into a spin attack. Her blade wasn't made to cut - it was made to bludgeon; if it caught his side, he might end up with broken ribs.
But even as he managed to block once more - even as her sword rebounded off his yet again, she stepped into his personal space. He flinched a half-second before it actually hit - a merciless knee to the solar plexus, blowing all the wind out of him and forcing him to the ground.
He didn't even have to look up to know that her sword was already moving to rest against the back of his neck.
"Again."
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? Anything? History was kinda rushed, but I -did- spend several hours on this sheet over the span of a week or two polishing this document up.
... I'm so tiiiiiirrrrrredddddd.
+ I've been editing a bit, but it's mostly just slight changes to coding and wording. For all intents and purposes, the sheet is, in its initial release, completed.
Yes, I realize it's a bit cliche. I'm trying to bring the archetypal "Chosen One" and turn it on its head. Going to have a bit of a problem with that since I don't really have a thread for my own original world. Hmm. I'll work around it somehow.
I NEED SLEEP
ok no seriously i'm going to stop coding now
ME, STAHP
-update-
I'm going to change the history portion of this. :I His personality and the current history just doesn't fit and I don't think I can flesh out the backstory better. Err... not sure if I should put a "WIP" on this.
Aeif!! Goodness, I'm so sorry. Work has exploded and I was caught in the middle of a move and it was just a very very busy time for me.
Let's take a look at your character! I'll admit, I would come and go every once in a while to skim and scan. I really love your levels of proficiency; I think they are a wonderful touch to your abilities. Some things I want to point out, maybe:
Infallible Instructor: What gives him this ability? What makes him a good teacher? Is he patient? Does he enjoy teaching? His personality states that he enjoys assisting others, but teaching someone is completely different from that. You state that he has had "little social contact for the majority of his childhood" and "is still getting used to people other than family members," which to me tells of an insecure, shy guy, and not one that would be willing or even good at teaching others.
While I do like the fact that Aeif can teach his abilities to other characters, I can't quite see this from him judging by his personality and upbringing. You might want to shed more light on his story, or divulge a little more into his personality after he pulled the sword.
Personality: Tell me about Aeif after he pulled the sword. Is he nervous? Insecure? What does it feel like having the weight of a people upon his shoulders, when he was brought up feeling inadequate and possibly ostracized. Building up his personality will help explain why he has Infallible Instructor as a passive ability, or you may find he doesn't need it at all.
Original World: You have a few things in Aeif that are a product of his world that I would love to know more of! For example, Unified Tongues. Are different languages a vast in this world of his, enough so that something occurred allowing people to understand one another?
I understand your asterisk in that you don't want to spoil things, but we like to ask that you present your idea up front so that both you and everyone else has a good clear picture of Aeif. You don't have to spoil everything, but I would like to know more about this sword of prophecy and the legend behind it.
History: Big typo I caught that needs some clarification: "Aeif took the life of his mother at despite her attendants."
So Aeif goes around living with his adoptive parents, encounters heartless(?), and pulls a sword of legend from a stone. So what happens afterwards? They test him,, he fails, so they begin training him but find him incompetent. Flesh this out a bit more, please! The last bit in your history seems a little rushed and pushed together last minute. What do his mentors think of him? Does he know it? Does he want to do his best and keep trying or is he ready to give up? You've got a lot of information leading up to when Aeif pulls the sword from the stone. Now I want to see what happens to him aftwards. Fleshing this part out will also help you build his personality, as he goes through a life of first feeling inadequate, and then knowing he's inadequate. How does this affect him?
And then that last line, "a magical mix-up due to the frustrations of his mentors..." Moar, pls. What is this magical mix-up? How did it happen, and why? Were they training him? Testing a spell? Just aggravated and not thinking? Whatever it is it's so powerful he world hops. That's pretty intense.
I understand you've been waiting around for a long time, but I still see you frequent the forums every once in a while, so I'll give you two weeks to polish this up. If you have any questions or concerns or need some advice, let me know either through reply or PM.
Umm... Okay, well, history and personality still need fleshing out. Those are the sketchiest parts about this character sheet and has a lot of deus-ex-machina-ing around. I personally am not satisfied with it at the moment and I hadn't gotten around to re-working it when you posted, so I'll take what you said into consideration.
I have a few general themes that I want to use for this character. The two big themes are 'anti-magic' and more importantly, the 'unchosen' one. I want to take the concept of 'someone who isn't meant to be the hero' and put it in a negative light.
Many unchosen heroes (such as Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Nariko from Heavenly Sword, Kite from .hack) end up rising to the challenge and meet the requirements necessary. Yet, there are few times where an unchosen hero doesn't come up to snuff.
His background involves him failing to fulfill the purpose because he's not the real deal. Character development would then follow depending on who he interacted with and the results of these outcomes.
About the teaching --- I felt that it would be a part of his socialization, giving rewards/incentive to talk to other people. Or something like that.
All in all, I still need to think about it. I'll see if I can get something written down within this next week.

This profile has been in the works for weeks without productivity; rejected for not editing timely. You can re-apply for the character, but be sure to fix out the current kinks.
