In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

It was easy to appreciate the simple command given by Jin. To the point, with no show. What wasn't simple, however, was the location of his two wards. The small ones had chosen points that were not easily defendable by one man. Miller ran quietly to a middle position, the worn leather boots conforming to the broken ground beneath. Quickly reading Oswald's situation, on request, Miller deemed it less valuable than defending his spot. If he had full control of his magic, he could lift the steel beam behind him and cast with an open hand. As it was now, however, a blade would serve better.
"I'm sorry Oz, but I need to stay the flow of these creatures. Think of something else." With great, wide swings, Miller rent through a shade that leaped forth. More took the creatures place, it seemed, as the pack grew thicker. Miller called upon the resolve in his stomach, preparing to fight for a long while. Turning his head to the opposite side, he called out, "Stripes! Work with the rabbit and figure something out!", before dropping his blade into a low lord's stance, ready to skewer the beasts before him.

Well, this is a thing!
Mana! Not helping!
Well, what do you expect me to do?! I'm a voice in your head, there's not much I CAN do!
How about helping me keep track of what's going on?!
Things were getting crazy as it was. The Heartless were beginning to swarm at an alarming rate. The ones with swords seemed to be handling themselves just fine, especially the one who can spout lightning. There seemed to be a mage who was able to keep them at bay. Even the rabbit was able to hold them back with a nifty gadget of some sort.
Not that she was not slouch herself, thankfully.
Left...
Right...
Behind you...
Each whisper of the wind warned her of each incoming strike from the Shadows, helping her navigate very quickly to her chosen spot. It was very much a comfort, knowing she didn't have to worry about any surprises. Her one real problem was combat experience. Most of it was focused on dodging, blocking, and deflecting attacks. Even her magic was showing it's novice level, being only enough to help her move quicker and swing faster. It was enough to keep the Shadows at bay, but with no true fatal intent in her blows, they simply just kept getting back up and rushing either her or any of the others who seemed closer.
On her own, she couldn't even hope to fight off enough to rescue the one spot she got to. If only she had the help of another.
"Stripes! Work with the rabbit and figure something out!"
Oh right, that's a good idea too!
You only just now thought of that?!
Hey, I'm under a lot of stress Mana, cut me some slac- wait, did he just call me stripes?!
"Hold on, did you just call me Stripes?!" She called out, taking valuable time from the rescue just to ask a pointless question. Almost on instinct, she swung her rebar behind her, striking the Heartless that tried to attack her without bothering to face it.
Half a second later...
"I accept the title!" She suddenly announced as she rushed toward "the rabbit." At least bobbing and weaving her way to him was easy and brief.
"Stripes at your service!" she announced, already taking a defensive position and pushing back what Heartless came her way. She was quick to note how far the rabbit has gotten with his rescue. "And already I see your problem!"
I think between the two of us we could probably use my staff as leverage to get that guy out. she thought to herself, already trying to come up with a plan.
But the problem is the Heartless! Unless Bunny Boy here is some kind of super warrior, it's just gonna end up costing a lot of time! What you need is an opening! Now would be a good time to start calling up some major winds!
Trust me, I'd love to make a big gust of wind to push these guys back! I'd really love too!
'Of course. A whiner,' Jin huffed internally. As he continued to hack away at the swarming dark creatures, he really had no choice but to listen to what Charme was saying. The leader of a caravan? The only caravans Jin was familiar with were the ones used to traffic Gifted from place to place. It wasn't really the kind of job someone would brag about.
'And apparently clueless as well. Just what we need; another newbie.'
"Avari, some advice. When people are bleeding out, they don't stay conscious for long. Fill our guest in on what's going on, and don't be afraid to start treating the wounds when the opportunity presents itself."
The situation would probably take care of itself, and Jin was okay blaming Charme's unusual behavior on the blood loss. With the two of them backing off the scene, Jin could afford to cut loose with his electricity.
As the Shadows swarmed, lightning surged around Jin's form. The energy acted as both a barrier and its own weapon. Tendrils of neon blue shot out and pierced any of the creatures that drew too close, causing them to disperse into smokey shadow once more.
The dance of blades and thunder continued for a time, and with each flash and slash the numbers of the Heartless began to decrease. Before long, the swarm had been vanished on this side of the wreckage.
With a long and steady breath, Jin sheathed his swords. With his end of the fight over, there was nothing left to do but take stock of the battlefield.
The girl and the animal were struggling to move something. They probably needed an extra set of hands. Without a word, Jin moved in their direction. The faster this got done, the higher chance there was that someone would get out alive.
Oswald was caught off guard as the girl approached, but he still had a job to do. "Um, hi, I'm Oswald," as long as the shadow hoard kept coming he had to dedicate all his force to it, he would not let this man die. "Why are you just standing there? Help why won't you?" It might have been a bit rude but he didn't care this had to be done. Especially with all the shadows around, it was impertinent that he got this guy out from beneath the iron quickly.
That was until the orange haired guy started walking towards them with determination. Which might help with the bar, but not with Oswald's fighting, as he was again caught off guard. "Hey, it's you again, can you lift that bar off this guy, I don't think 'Stripes' over here can do it, and I certainly can't," he shouted at the approaching figure. With another ice blast the hoard had drawn away from the pile and over somewhere else. Hopefully somewhere to dissipate and collapse.
Charme nodded to Avari. "Yeah, I just took a hit to the head." The dancer put some light pressure on the bump. "Honestly I didn't get hurt too much- most of this blood is from... another battle. My bodyguards didn't make it through."
There was a bit of pain to this. He'd lost friends. But he was sure they made it through- they were all way stronger than he was. It was just the matter of finding them. It made him feel a bit better. He used his staff as a support as he followed Avari. "So where is this place? It doesn't look anything like Stellara, and I've been around everywhere!" The entertainer's curiosity had been piqued now that they could hold their eyes open without too much pain. "It's pretty..."
Charme leaned on his staff as he stared in wonder around them. He could hear the scuffling of the shadows and the magics of combat nearby but they didn't really phase him. The destruction couldn't hide the delicate stonework. There was something somber about this nighttime. It might even be more beautiful than the Valdel Manor, his manor. He smiled. "Avari, are you from this place?"
Avari looked up at Jin with a frown, "I'm not exactly experienced when it comes to treating injuries." Putting herself between danger and someone in need, however, she had no problem with. She glanced passed Jin to see the others either fighting or searching for survivors. Avari needed to get back in there.
As Charme confirmed she could walk, Avari gave a curt nod and led her away from the wreck and back towards Market Street. Avari kept an eye out for anymore approaching heartless as Charme continued speaking. She was eager to test herself against the creatures once again, though she did understand her role in the situation well enough.
They stopped as they reached the sloping streets, allowing Charme a moment of rest. Charme's questions confirmed Avari's suspicions that this girl was from another world. What's more, it sounded like Charme had come from one fight right into another; that was some bad luck. Avari glanced back towards the station plaza to see the others fighting. Looking at all the rubble under the dark sky, Avari couldn't understand how it was pretty. Then again, she hadn't seen how everything was before. "You're in Twilight Town. Sorry to say, but if you're here, Stellara was it...? It's probably gone."
She was lightly surprised that Charme asked if she was from here. Avari glanced back to Charme with one eyebrow raised, "No, I'm from Radiant Garden, another world like yours. The worlds keep disappearing, and more refugees show up everyday." Avari paused, looking at the wound on Charme's forehead brushing some of the girl's hair aside to get a better look. "This blood doesn't look good."
Avari glanced around for a solution, but given the circumstances she settled on tearing off her sleeve, and then tearing it in two. She used the smaller piece to none-too-gently wipe some blood away, though some of it seemed pretty dried up already, and she used the rest of the sleeve as a makeshift bandage. It looked like a sloppy headband, but hopefully it was enough for now.
"There. Will you be okay here?" She glanced back to the plaza again, anxious to get back, "If you were with anyone when your world disappeared, they may be under all that rubble. I gotta get back in there and help." She looked at Charme, seeking confirmation that the girl would be alright.
Miller watched in shock as Jin tore across the field of battle like cluster of lightning. He wondered, retrospectively, if he should have been so quick to judge the boy's bravado. Obviously there was enough fight in him to back up his nature. The fact that Miller was the only one visibly taken aback by this reinforced the idea. He took a silent note to avoid provoking his acquaintance...
That isn't to say that the others were handling the situation well. Oswald and Stripes seemed to be struggling, and they were quickly approached by Jin. Seemed about right; he probably had to do everything himself in some ego-building power struggle. The injured girl was babbling on about Stellara, and Miller realized that she must be form another world, one recently consumed. If the others in the wreckage were alive, they would have to cope with that fact as well. The brunette also seemed flabbergasted, protesting her lack of ability with emergency medical actions.
Miller paused, briefly, reflecting on how negatively he was thinking of his new neighbors. World-crushing disasters like this surely brought out the worst in people, and the risk of losing more lives wouldn't help.He was going to have to lighten up if he was going to survive happily here.
Mid clean up, he dragged his sword from its tail position into an upwards cut, and a shade dissipated, melted into the cracks into the floor, and was no more; on this plane, at least. Miller stowed the blade against his back, swung his cloak over the back of his shoulders, and bolted to another scorch mark in the rubble. A nail split down the middle, and fingers bloodied themselves in an effort to dig through the jagged rocks. Jin's words rang out in the back of Miller's head, a nagging presence that reminded him of the boat.

"H-hold on a second!" Cora cried out, pushing back other Heartless. "Am I really just standing still?!" She swung her rebar to push back another heartless. "Is that really what it looks like?" She paused for a brief minute to look at herself. Feet planted firmly into the ground. She hasn't moved an inch since then. And the bunny fella was pretty busy fighting back on his part.
"Oh..." she replied, realizing that she probably did look lazy, even if that wasn't the intent.
"Sorry!" was all she could offer, now actively moving around to strike back at any Shadow that got close. "I guess I can't just stay still in one spot the whole time, huh?"
He was kind of rude, though, a little bit abrasive even.
Mana, shuddup. This is a highly stressful situation! He's probably being pushed to his limits, the poor thing. We kind of all are.
Still... he could be a little more polite.
Manaaaaa...
She jammed her rebar into one of the cracks in the rubble and used that and the wind to lift herself up into the air. She was trying to see if she could use this and the length of her rebar to strike several heartless in a row. The idea was crowd control. It was a shame that her effort was not quick nor seamless, and it was highly telegraphed. The Heartless very easily dodged, and a few countered. Needless to say, she was going to be feeling that in the morning.
So this is what it's like to feel useless... Cora thought cynically to herself, Okay, fine, just keep pushing back as many as you can, don't worry about what you messed up in doing. Just keep fighting!
At least the one with the swords was on the way to help. She was relieved for that. "Sorry for the trouble!" She called out to him as she struck down another Heartless.
Taking a quick account of the situation, Jin noted the heavy steel beam and the physiques of the two that had been trying to move it. Obviously a little girl and a rabbit weren't going to make much headway here, but could he?
Sure, he was stronger than the average person, but this girder probably weighed anywhere between four and five hundred pounds. That had to be compounded by the fact that there was rubble caked on top of it, and the exact center wasn't exposed. He'd have to lift if from the end.
"I'll see what I can do. For now, we should worry about the people underneath getting fresh air," Jin started, his eyes tracking over to Cora as she began to battle the few remaining Heartless around them.
Four individual arcs of navy blue electricity burst forth from Jin's hand as he let loose and took out each of the creatures that Cora had been struggling with.
"Don't apologize," he said. "Just come over here and start a breeze underneath this rubble. Whoever's under there is probably running out of air, and the oxygen you can get moving in there will keep them awake long enough for us to find them."
His gaze shifted to Oswald. Ice magic wasn't going to be very helpful in this situation, and he wasn't strong enough to lift the beam, but...
"You're smaller than the rest of us. Put that to work. I can't lift this thing all the way up when it's trapped like this, but I can make an opening big enough for you to get in and start bringing people out."
With the instructions given, Jin turned and stared down the I-beam that had been giving the two of them so much trouble. He crouched, gripping the metal and letting a burst of lightning run through every muscle in his legs and arms. Slowly, almost painfully so, Jin worked the beam into the air.
From his crouch, he'd eventually stood and was holding the end of the bar at chest level. True to his word, he'd created an opening just big enough for Oswald to fit through. The new entryway lead into a maze of fallen rocks, though what was inside was still mostly a mystery as it wasn't too well lit.
"The people are under there. There should be two, from what I can sense. Go!" Jin barked, his voice straining under the weight.
"Wait what?" Oswald yelled at the orange haired guy. The situation went from him trying to get the beam off of the people to him going to the people and this decision went by way to fast for Oswald to comprehend what had happened. Although he had seen what the guy was capable of, so he dived into the small hole which surprisingly was quite big.
"Hey! Is anyone down here?" He yelled as he walked through the 'halls' of the place. It didn't seem like much but the place was bigger than Oswald had imagined. Still he walked through and finally found someone, a man with a really cool t-shirt. "Hey, whatever your name is I found one of them! Should I drag them out or try to make a hole here?" he yelled at the guy. Whatever he did, he still had someone else to find according to the man and he had to do that quick.
Once Avari was sure Charme was safe and could hold out until she got back, Avari gave a curt nod to the blonde girl and made her way back to the scene. As she reached the group, Jin seemed to be holding up some of the fallen structure, and she could hear someone calling out from underneath. The rest of the people present were helping keep the heartless at bay, which there seemed to be fewer of now. Avari tried to help and dispatch a few with a couple fireballs, when she heard the voice again, this time asking whether he should drag the victim out or dig a hole. Seeing the strain Jin was undergoing, she shouted down the opening, "Hurry up and get him outta there, Jin can't hold it forever!" She wished she could help more, but she wasn't strong enough to help Jin, and not small enough to help the rabbit. The most she could do was make sure none of the heartless got to either of them, just like the others were doing.

Air supply! I can do air supply!
And with breathing room, she may add! Now that she had the breathing room, she jammed the rebar into the ground again. Like before, both it and the wind were used to lift her into the air, landing somewhat not quite gracefully next to where the lighting boy and bunny guy were.
For a third time, she jammed the rebar into the ground, though now she used it more as a medium to blow a decent current of air into the opening. She even took care to keep dust and smoke from getting it, though it wasn't as clean a job as she'd like. Since it was clean air that was required, it was clean air that she tried to give.
By now she had pretty much fallen into the state of mind of simply "do what must be done." No other thoughts were allowed into her head.
((Okay guys. Let's wrap this up. Mission accomplished. I'll turn the quest in at the end of the week, giving you all a little time to write your last posts.))
Jin was relieved when Oswald's call stated that he'd found one of the survivors. That was one less life he'd have to worry about, hopefully.
"Don't risk the cave-in from digging where you are!" Jin projected his voice, which was slightly strained from the effort of keeping the beam up. "Drag them out as best you can, but be careful not to shake them around too much. Get them close enough to the exit so we can pull them out."
If all went well, then the group would have pulled their rescue off. After that it was just a matter of...
Jin didn't want to think about that part. He'd never been any good at telling people that their friends and family weren't coming back. He'd beat around the bush with Kailyn when it came to Levi, he'd more or less let Trey put the pieces together on his own when it came to the kid's family, and when it came to all the casualties of the rising war effort after that, it just never worked out well when Jin had to be the one to deliver that sort of message. Hopefully, though, the number of people he'd have to talk to this time around would be relatively few.
For now, all he had to do was keep pouring energy into his screaming muscles. Overworking them with electricity wasn't a good idea for even a short period of time. What'd he'd been doing now was definitely longer than that window. Oh well. The damage would have to heal itself later. He just needed to make sure the rabbit and Avari got everyone out okay.
"Uh, okay!" he yelled to the stranger above as he grabbed the arm of the guy he found, and started dragging him towards the hole. "Hey guy, I got 'im. The guy has a really cool shirt too, I mean like pockets everywhere cool! Kinda strange as some of the pockets go over each other, actually his entire shirt is made of pockets."
"So, uh guy. How you doin'?" Oswald asked as he looked backwards towards the man, "You don't talk much do you. Well I guess with a shirt like that you don't need to talk much. My names Oswald, I, uh, I'm not really from here but I come from a different world. And now I'm talking to a silent or uncouncious guy. My life is so fantastic currently. " As he said this he looked upwards and spotted the hole the ginger had made.
"Now sir I'm gonna try and pull you out okay? Yep, silence it's what I expect from you." Oswald then jumped out of the hole and then leaned down and grabbed the guy's arm again trying to lift him out of the pit. He got a bit of arm out but it soon came that the guy became stuck between the hole's entrance, and his face. "Uh, this is a bit awkward, can any of you guys help me get this guy out of here?"
Avari really couldn't see what was going on down in the hole, but she could hear the voice from below, muffled at first, but then becoming more clear as they presumably got closer to the exit. Then an arm popped out, falling limp, and whoever had dug down there to save the man asked for some assistance in pulling the guy out, and Avari happily obliged, at first grabbing the man by the arm, and then his shoulders as they managed to pull him further out of the hole.
The rest of the rescue team seemed to have their hands full, the girl beside her blasting air into the hole, Jin holding up the structure the people were trapped under, and the man with black hair fighting off the remaining heartless. So Avari put all her strength into getting this guy out of the hole, and with the rabbit's help, they both managed to get him out. Now that she could see the rabbit, she gave him a nod, "Was there anyone else down there? I don't know how much longer Jin can hold it all up!" She could hardly even believe he had the strength to lift this huge mess, let alone hold it for so long. And for the rabbit to lift someone twice his size to get him to safety was also astonishing. Everyone here were amazing people. She had no doubt they could save everyone trapped by the earthquake.
