In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Avari yelped in pain as the shadow's claws struck across her back, and leaving her blade lodged in the Darkside's ankle, she turned to face her quarry just in time to see the other heartless about to sprout up out of the ground. She shot off a fireball right in the center of the two dark forms, shielding her face from the heat of the up-close and personal attack. She was a bit preoccupied to listen to Max's commands and, well, was already sort of behind the beast already when she decided to dodge the scary orb things.
While she had been successful in dodging what might have been a really painful attack, she also had left herself wide open to be attacked by the smaller heartless. She had assumed it would result this way, but she had fought shadows a handful of times already; that orb attack though, she knew nothing about. She could already feel the warmth of blood seeping along her back, and was painfully aware of the sting of the claw marks the heartless left behind. Quickly, Avari grabbed her sword from behind her and as she pulled it out of the Darkside's ankle it became weightless once more. She used it to deliver a follow up attack (not using the gravity) on the shadow that had successfully struck her.
She had no idea how someone could think in the middle of a fight like this, other than focus on the targets directly in front of them. All of the decisions she made thus far had been merely in reaction to what the heartless were doing. She was just trying to stay alive at this point, but as she waited for the heartless to make their move, she couldn't help but take a quick glimpse at the rest of the party to make sure they were both still standing. It seemed the tables had turned and now they were the ones being overwhelmed by more incoming heartless.
Avari looked up at the Darkside just in time to see the ice spear strike through the creature's thigh, and she flinched at its loud screech. They had to start putting more pressure on it, and that wouldn't happen while they were distracted by the little guys. She jumped back away from the two shadows and fired off two fireballs, hoping to dispatch them quickly so she could help the others or continue attacking the Darkside. She really wasn't thinking too far ahead at this point.
"Whatever that was, Max, keep doing it!!!" She called out to him before looking back at the shadows, waiting for their next move.
Bayde's eyes narrowed as once again the small Rabbit on the balcony allowed an attack too close to him. The ball of darkness struck true against him just as the balcony came crashing down. Had it not been for Maxwell's timely action, Oswald may have been buried in the rubble of his former perch and particularly prone to attack until he could right himself.
The young girl positioned at the rear of the Darkside was holding her own especially well. Her movements were unrefined, but against weak foes such as the Shadows that plagued her they were more than effective. Her last-second fireball exploded against the creature Avari had targeted, reducing it to little more than embers and dissipating dark miasma. Then, retrieving her blade from the leg of the dark giant she cleaved the critter that had wounded her in two, the strike strong and true enough to remove it from the battlefield for good.
It was at this point that the Darkside began struggling for freedom. Its uninjured leg came up, and it braced itself on the knee as it tried to pull itself up. However, its leg wouldn't respond and it again fell to both knees.
After saving Oswald, the water that Maxwell had gathered for that purpose was retooled to create several projectiles. A good portion of them fired off into the air, peppering the downed body of the Darkside with the shots and very visibly making it recoil. The other half of the spheres that he left around were possibly supposed to serve as a defensive measure. Given the rabbit's inclination for ignoring incoming attacks, perhaps that was a good idea.
Bayde's brow quirked at Oswald aimed the electricity of his remote against the ground in an attempt to attack the Shadows that had seeped into the cement below their feet. However, the attack was ineffective. Perhaps he hadn't had enough encounters with the Shadows to know that when they retreated into the ground below that no magic or might could affect them.
At this point, the three remaining Shadows burst forth from the Shadows, one swift and sharp claw raking through the air and aimed for each of the fighters. They were exposed now. Vulnerable. They'd probably stay that was so long as the fighters gave them no room to breathe in the fight.
Of course, it was at that same instant that the Darkside was able to coat its leg in a thick web of shadows, curing the wound in its leg before standing strong once more and letting loose a mighty roar that shook the air once more.
The creature drew one massive foot into the air, turning on the ball of its grounded foot while it did to face the three fighters. They were clustered closely enough together that the Darkside was now attempting to crush them under its heel.
When the foot impacted the ground, the cement shattered and a shockwave was sent out in all directions. The force of impact was devastating, but the size and slowness of the attack had left a big opening. Bayde watched closely, wondering how each of the fighters would take advantage of this situation.

Time almost seemed to slow as the shadows re-materialized out of the ground and rushed to attack the trio of defenders. Things were going too slowly here. They needed a way to tear the Darkside down faster, or they would end up giving out first. He felt out with his power, trying to find more sources of water, and found it in the walls to either side of them.
As the shadows leapt at them, a portion of the wall to their left exploded outward as Max ripped the water from the plumbing. Bricks, mortsr and small sharfs of metal went flying as the Drydenian brought the water inside to bear, a wave crashing into the shadows to sweep them away. As the water continued flowing from the pipes, Max used it to continuously batter the shadows in a vicious barrage of powerful blasts. As he did so, Max became aware of a small stream of blood falling down his cheek where some form of shrapnel from the wall had cut him.
As the Darkside moved to stand, Max turned to face it as the water flow from the pipes began to slow. The soldier brought all the water in the alleyway to bear as the immense Heartless brought one foot up and pivoted around to bring it down on top of them. Before it could bring its foot down Max wrapped it in water and, with a loud yell, used the heartless’ own momentum against it, spinning it around and lifting its leg higher in an attempt to throw it off balance and bring it to the ground on its back.
None of this, though, was easy. The effects of the protracted fight were finally beginning to show on Max, as evidenced by his now-heavy breathing and the sweat beading on his forehead. He could keep fighting for a while yet, but he could only pull straining stunts like that a couple more times before he was spent. He would have to be careful how he fought from now on.
The shadow suddenly leaping up out of the ground caught Oswald off guard. However a wall suddenly exploding outwards had to make Oswald run for cover as debris flied across the battlefield. He turned back towards Maxwell as he found him barraging the shadows with water. Soon after that the Heartless that summoned the shadows in the first place spun around lifting it's foot to squash them all.
Seeing this Oswald decided to run from the beast, shooting it's foot with electricity as he ran towards a building at the edge of the battlefield. He saw that the water used to sweep the shadows away was being used to usurp the beast's balance. "Maxwell, I don't think that's the best idea, as when that thing comes down half the town will be destroyed with it!" He shouted out.
After defeating the two shadows attacking her, Avari looked up at the Darkside to see its attempt to stand. She visibly flinched and braced herself as the creature lost its footing and fell back onto its knees. Perhaps standing directly under the giant crippled heartless wasn't the best idea after all. Avari glanced to her allies and quickly sprinted to them, but then yet another shadow formed from out of the ground and leaped at her, and the only thing she could think to do was secure her footing and bring her blade up to block the shadow's claws. Sparring with Jin had certainly been difficult for Avari, but she had to admit the extra practice was helping her in this fight. She just hoped they would all survive, so that she may have the chance to ask for more training. She still couldn't even use her sword's magic to its fullest potential, and that was due mostly to her like of training in swordsmanship.
Once Avari successfully or unsuccessfully deflected the heartless's attack, she swung downwards at it and activated the sword's gravity magic to increase its weight. Whether or not the heartless evaded, her sword landed heavily into the ground, leaving cracks in the stone where it hit. Within seconds the sword was weightless again, and she lifted it and prepared for her next move, all while maintaining focus on the small heartless. "There's no end to these things! What are we supposed to do?!" At first, she was waiting for some kind of guidance from Maxwell or Oswald, but then her attention was pulled elsewhere as the Darkside roared, seemingly having recovered from its leg injury as it stood and lifted its foot high above the three of them.
Not even a few moments later, a wall near them started to rip apart as water surged out. Avari yelped and put her arms up to brace herself for flying debris. She was still unaccustomed to how Max was in a fight, but being near him right now didn't seem to be the best idea, and she was uncertain that his plan to throw the beast off balance would work, so she fired one more fireball at the shadow in front of her before turning to run out from under the large foot that hung in the air, having been slowed by Max's large mass of water. She heard Oswald shout about Max's strategy being reckless, but if they didn't do something to end this fight, much worse could happen- the whole town could be lost to the darkness! They couldn't let that happen. She had to do more than poke at the Darkside's feet and expect a positive outcome, but at the same time, she could feel her power slowly waning, the way it usually did when she used too much of her magic. She needed to start letting her energy return to her so se could start fighting again, so she stood there, sword at the ready, and waited to see if Max's plan was enough to ground the beast.
When the Shadows erupted from the ground, Maxwell and Avari acted at nearly the same time.
The girl was quick to raise her blade, and this intercepted the blow of the small creature. Knocked away by its own momentum being used against it, the Shadow was vulnerable for just long enough to receive the blow from Avari's blade.
Not a moment later, the burst of water that Maxwell had called forth from another nearby building met its final target, having already shredded the first two and protecting Maxwell and Oswald from harm. With that, all three Shadows had been eradicated.
Bayde's eyes narrowed when he saw the Darkside raise its foot. This was a pivotal moment in the fight if the opening could be used effectively, and it looked like Maxwell was having the same thought.
The water that shot forward and coated halfway up the Darkside's lower leg in a pool of water. Then, with a mighty yell, Maxwell tugged the leg away from Avari and the retreating rabbit whose lightning had bounced ineffectively off the creature's body. The only downside was that he'd seemed to have forgotten himself.
The foot crashed down less than a few inches from Maxwell, kicking up chunks of rock and a wave of dust. The impact was like a small bomb had gone off, and the shockwave sent the man flying back and skipping across the ground like a stone over a lake's surface.
The Darkside's balance had been disrupted, its legs crossing awkwardly and falling out from under it from Max's efforts. However, as Oswald's worries would suggest, it was toppling directly towards the wall that separated Twilight Town proper from the fields outside it.
The figure that had been watching the battle tensed, and Bayde held a paw upwards to halt any interference. The figure would have to remain a spectator for now. Bayde didn't want anyone else getting caught up in this.
Jumping from the ledge with speed belying his stature, the Moogle came to a solid landing on the toppling beast's forehead and smacked the small, metallic charm he'd been holding against the condensed darkness that formed the Heartless.
A bright flash of white light blinded everyone on the field for a single instant, and when visibility was restored the charm had transformed into an ethereal chain of flowing warm orange and yellow lights that was now fused to the Darkside's head. Wasting no time, the Moogle bounded from his position, spinning in the air and pulling with unnatural might against his foe.
The Darkside reeled, and its fall shifted. It was no longer closing in on the town, and instead crashed down in a prone position just outside the wall as the chain shattered and its light faded.
"Quickly. Aim for the head. You don't have much time!"
Just as Bayde spoke those words, another ball of dark energy erupted from the creature's chest and burst into six smaller spheres, two going after each of the fighters.
"I've done all I can for now. You need to finish this fight!"

As the Darkside’s foot continued towards him, Max felt a pit settle in his stomach at the thought his effort to bring the gigantic Heartless down had failed. Then it’s foot impacted right in front of him, the shockwave sending him tumbling away like a ragdoll, able to do little more than try to protect his head with his arms.
As he finally came to a rest a wash of pain passed through his entire body. He did his best to ignore it and pushed himself to his feet just in time to see Bayde go leaping from his vantage point and slap something on the Darkside’s forehead. Then, through some sort of miracle Max had never seen the like of before, the tiny Moogle formed some sort of magical chain from the trinket and then pulled the immense Heartless away from the Twilight Town wall and to the ground. The soldier had to fight the urge to stand and stare at the spectacle in order to make sure he was clear of the Darkside’s fall.
Damn Moogle’s been holding out on us, Max thought as he retreated to a safe distance near Avari and Oswald, gathering what water he could and forming it into several large spikes of ice to attack the vulnerable Heartless.
"Quickly. Aim for the head. You don't have much time! I've done all I can for now. You need to finish this fight,” the Moogle shouted out to them in the same instant that Max launched his ice spikes at the Heartless’ head and the Heartless itself retaliated by launching more magical blasts at them all. A scowl passed over Max’s face as he drew Quicksilver and moved between the Heartless and his companions.
“Stay behind me!” he shouted to them as the orbs neared the trio. With the sword’s reach and his proximity to the other two, Max should be able to hit every one of the orbs. If things went as he hoped, he would be launching them right back at the Darkside. As the orbs neared, the soldier gave a swing of Quicksilver at each aimed to send the attacks back at the creature.

Last Edit: Jan 4, 2017 20:46:11 GMT -4 by Bayde: There was a runaway tag and I needed to fix it.
With the Darkside falling Oswald just stared as Bayde single-handedly brought down the towering beast. Whatever magic the Moogle used Oswald wanted in on it. It could be so useful in dealing with the Heartless around town. Immensely useful, 'why would he just keep that thing under wraps?' Thinking this over Oswald didn't notice the six new orbs come until Maxwell was shouting about protecting them.
Seeing these new orbs come Oswald got an idea, he gathered his energy and pushed outwards firing a blast of wind towards one of the dark blasts. The orb of darkness and wind gathered around it bringing gravity to the orb making it fall to the ground cracking the pavement. Causing black dust to blow about from the orb. Looking back towards the Heartless he fired electricity at the dark orb towards the head. Looking back up he shot another orb with electricity hoping to burst it.
Avari watched as, much to her amazement, Bayde came forth with some sort of strange power and latched onto the Darkside, forcing it to land on the other side of the wall, rather than crashing onto the town. She wasn't sure how Bayde had done it, but thanks to both the moogle and Max's crazy water powers, the Darkside had been forced to the ground and was now vulnerable. She knew in this moment that she didn't have much magic at her disposal, but with Bayde's quick shout, warning them to act fast, Avari couldn't just sit by and wait to replenish her power. Even with the attack the Darkside unleashed, Avari felt this moment was too important to waste. For the first time since the battle started, she threw caution to the wind and bolted for he Darkside's head, ignoring Max's order to stay behind him.
She kept her focus solely on the Darkside, running as fast as her feet could carry her in hopes of passing the dark orbs and causing them to impact against the ground as they tried to round back on her. Whether or not this was successful, she didn't have time to look, and instead put her attention on reaching the giant beast. She ducked around the side of the head in case any orbs still pursued her, and then whether she took damage or not, leapt onto the Darkside from its shoulder, and then sunk her blade into its glowing yellow eye, using what little magic she had left to weigh the creature down with the gravity magic of her sword. For as long as she maintained its magic, she hoped the Darkside would be unable to get up.
"I can try to hold it down, but not for long!" It was a long shot, but if it worked it would give the others more time to get their attacks in, and they were much more capable of inflicting damage than Avari was. If it didn't work, Avari already had a tight grip on its tendrils that acted like hair. If the Darkside stood up, she would continue slashing at it's face for as long as she could.
As Maxwell rushed the the aide of his fellow fighters, he raked Quicksilver across the first of the dark orbs and sent it flying. Whether his intention was to hit the Darkside with the swing or not, the deflected orb of energy went flying off into the sky before bursting a safe distance above them. A valiant effort, but also a risky one. Maxwell was the greatest offensive power the party had as far as Bayde had observed. If he was taking his time to deflect the entire attack, then that was valuable seconds that he could be using to do damage. Did he have a hero complex? Was it a lack of trust? Maybe it was just short-sightedness.
Well, at least the shards of ice had embedded in their target.
Whichever it was, the two that he'd placed himself in front of seemed to have their own ideas about how this fight needed to progress.
The rabbit flashed one of the various materia that the fighters nowadays had become accustomed to using, and swirling black winds immediately coated the second of he incoming orbs. Naturally, Darkness and Darkness mingled together and the dark winds soaked into and were absorbed by the sphere of Darkness that was headed for the three warriors.
The girl didn't let herself be distracted by any of this. She charged, barreling around Maxwell and taking off for the fallen body of the Darkside. Bayde nodded from his perch back atop the wall separating Twilight Town from the outside. The girl didn't want to be protected, and she trusted her friends enough to not throw away the opportunity to try to shield them.
It came at a cost, as gambles such as that often did. While Avari managed to juke one of the attacks away from her, he second struck her in the back on her way to the Darkside. Ignoring whatever damage she took, the girl positioned herself at the beast's shoulder before hoisting her blade and thrusting it downwards in an attempt to sink it into the target.
But in a surprising display of fortitude, the thick Darkness that composed the hide of the beast could not be penetrated by the blade. Instead, it merely slid off in much the same way a knife would slide across a stone and produced an odd, hissing sound as it did.
It was at that same time that Maxwell brought Quicksilver in the direction of the ball of shadows that had gained power from Oswald's magical attack. The blow was clean, sharp, and accurate. While it didn't go in the direction of Avari, it also soared directly over the prone Darkside before bursting harmlessly into the aether. It seemed that the man's aim wasn't quite that good, Bayde observed. Either that, or these orbs were much harder to deflect than they appeared.
Oswald's remote shot a single bolt of electricity outwards and struck their fallen foe, a spasm rocking its figure as the stream of energy made contact. With any luck, there'd be a chance for prolonged exposure to the attack. The remote did not do well in short bursts. However, not seeming to notice this, the rabbit quickly focused his efforts on another of the dark orbs to no avail. The energy struck him cleanly, exploding in a small enough area that Max would receive no damage, but with enough force to do more than sting.
For a third time, Maxwell's blade swung through the air, but the strain from the repetetive attempts at deflection were showing as the angle of the blade wasn't quite correct, and the Darkness slipped over Quicksilver's blade to collide directly into Maxwell's face. However, that was also the last of the six Dark Bursts.
With an unsettling groan, the Darkside began to turn over. Its hand collided with the ground cleanly, but not in an area that would damage the fighters. The Darkness around its upper arms swelled in a perfect imitation of muscle, and steadily the beast began to pick itself up.
"No!" Bayde cried, crouching low and beginning to mutter something in a long-lost language. The air around him hummed and thrummed with energies similar to the magic of materia, but with a flavor and a power all their own. He was preparing something, though what it was specifically would escape the three fighters below the wall. If they bothered to look, they would see him crouching as he clutched his charm tightly with both hands.
Whatever he was doing was going to take focus. A lot of focus.

As Max brought Quicksilver around in a wide arc, it came into contact with the first of the spheres. He had tried to deflect it back at the Darkside, but deflections of such attacks were new to Max and the sphere ended up missing its mark. Max gritted his teeth in frustration as he saw it fly straight up and explode directly overhead. That was when Avari darted past him, headed straight for the large heartless. He cursed out loud as he began running forward after her and taking a swing at the second orb, which Oswald seemed to have just made stronger with his magic. The soldier paused mid-stride, his feet in a wide stance as he brought his sword around to collide with the orb of darkness and sent it spinning right towards the Darkside. That one missed its mark as well, though, as it narrowly missed its target and collided harmlessly with a nearby wall. He cursed again as he began sprinting after Avari again, adjusting his grip on his sword to ready himself for the third of the orbs. Without slowing, he ran straight for it and aimed a back-handed slash at the dark orb...
...And missed completely.
He didn't even have a chance to mutter a third curse before the dark orb hit him in the face, knocking him flat on his back and cracking his head against the ground. Bright spots flashed across his vision as he felt blood begin to flow from his nose. After a couple of moments, he managed to recover from the shock of the impact and pushed himself back to his feet just in time to see the Darkside begin to do the same. With a loud yell he recalled the water from the ice spikes, as well as whatever other water was in the area, and gathered it into a large block of ice nearby the same size at the Darkside's head. He then swung it was hard as he could into the Heartless' face as it was attempting to get back to its feet, hoping the blow would bring it back to the ground. He then rushed forward, swinging with Quicksilver at the Darkside's wrist, deliberately aiming for the most vulnerable section of its arm in an effort to ensure it was brought back down.

When Oswald fired Dark Whispers, he didn't really mean to make the projectile even more powerful orb of darkness. With the spasm of the beast when Oswald hit it with electricity another orb was struck away by Maxwell. It was going pretty good until the Heartless started getting up again. Seeing it getting up Bayde was apparently preparing something.
With so much going on and the pain of getting hit with the orbs starting to get to him he reached into his pocket and pulled out the blue crystal. With a pause in his movements he focused on the crystal and with a brilliant flash, Oswald summoned his magic cat. As the beast got up the cat fired off a ball of fire towards the beast. It then started circling Oswald and Maxwell.
A yelp escaped Avari as the Darkside turned over and she was tossed to the ground, rolling a few feet before managing to stop herself. She heard Bayde's cry, but had no time to look his way as she stumbled to her feet and rushed out from under the heartless. As she sprinted out of his immediate vicinity, she scooped up her sword as she went and then turned to face their quarry. With a moment to catch her breath, Avari suddenly cringed and grasped at her shoulder with her free hand, now noticing the pain from the dark orb she'd been hit by. They needed to attack before it got to its feet, but without her magic, Avari's attacks would hardly scratch the Darkside's thick hide.
So she took the moment to catch her breath and to let her magic return to her. In the meantime, she scanned the battlefield for her friends, seeing Maxwell who was not far from her and summoning a large ice ball to launch at the Darkside. Oswald was a little further away, seeming to have summoned his cat as he continued blasting magic. And finally, Bayde was above on a far rooftop clutching something in his hand as he entered a deep focus. They were all trying so hard, and how was she contributing? She needed to more, and they needed to end this. Unsure of what else to do, she ran at the creature once again and attempted to grab onto one of its tendrils around its head. If it did manage to get back to its feet, at least Avari could still reach its face to attack.
"We won't let you... destroy this town!" She muttered, more so to encourage herself rather than actually speaking to the heartless. She was terrified, but she couldn't lose another home to the heartless. They had to stop this monster.
At the threat of the Darkside crawling to its feet, Max reacted with extreme prejudice.
Water from around the area trembled and crawled towards the hydromancer, floating overhead and swirling in on itself until a massive shard of ice had formed over his head. Apparently Bayde wasn't the only one pulling out all the stops to prevent the worst. Still, that amount of ice was weighty. It required more than significant amounts of focus and energy to shift its phase the way Max had, and at the rate he'd been using his powers it was going to become increasingly more difficult to pull grandiose stunts like this.
And that fact was displayed here as the strain from throwing around such large amount of water for such an extended period of time affected the strength behind Max's throw. The Darkside may have taken the hit face first, but the ice was fragile and quick to crumble. The Darkside may have been injured by the hit, but it wasn't at all hindered in its attempts to stand.
Perhaps sensing that his ranged abilities wouldn't last forever, Max charged forward to deal a blow to the creature's wrist. Quicksilver dug into dark sinews, raking across flesh but not doing quite as much damage as the ice. The hide of a Darkside was thick, so it wasn't surprising how weapons meant to deal damage by cutting it apart were a bit more hard pressed to deal damage than larger, more potent magical attacks.
While Maxwell was otherwise occupied, Oswald and Avari were taking action. Avari may not have been making attacks, but she was working on a contingency. Should the Darkside stand, latching on to the head to have more viable targets for attack would be useful. Luckily, while the brown haired girl's magic was depleting rapidly, her physical stamina was mostly unimpeded. The climb to the head of the creature wasn't too hard a task as a result.
Avari had busied herself with her climb, and Oswald was quickly realizing that he had other, more potent resources available to him in this battle. With a brief, contained burst of light, the cat-like Dream Eater erupted from the aether and shot off a surprise fireball. Between Maxwell's attacks and Avari's own distracting actions, the Darkside was too occupied to put up much of a resistance against the assault. The magical plasma struck true, singing dark flesh and staggering the beast to where it needed to reach up with the hand Maxwell had yet to attack to brush the cinders away.
The Darkside was growing more and more impatient by the second, and its rage would be expressed whether the nuisances in front of it wanted it to be or not. If it couldn't destroy the town, then it would just have to destroy one of them. Though it had fallen to the ground yet again, its focus did not break from Oswald and his Dream Eater. With one hand held out, the Darkness leapt to the ground and shot forward, catching fire and circling around the animal duo before rocketing to the heavens in a pillar of black and purple blazes. Whatever was inside was going to take massive damage.
Bayde's eyes narrowed. He still wasn't done preparing his spell. If these three could just keep it on the ground for a short while longer, he'd be able to make sure they could finish the fight. Healing whatever injuries they'd gained as a result would have to come later.

Max grimaced as he saw the huge block of ice shatter against the Darkside’s face, or even knock it off balance. It did, however, seem to distract it some, which gave time for a large fireball from Oswald’s cat to slam into its face. At the same time, Avari began to scale the large Heartless, attempting to reach its head. Their efforts, in concert with his attack, seemed to be enough to stall its attempts to rise to its feet...for now. If they didn’t continue attacking and keeping up the pressure, it would be able to right itself again.
Before he could respond, the Darkside sent a magical bolt towards Oswald, which exploded upward in a brilliant pillar of black and purple flames which completely engulfed both Oswald and his strange cat. Max could do nothing but take the opportunity to redouble his attack on the Darkside, forming the water he had used earlier into several spheres before launching them in a furious fusillade at the Darkside’s upper torso.
Holding just enough water back, he formed it into a water platform which he used to reach the back of the Darkside’s neck. As he landed on it, he returned Quicksilver to its sheath and drew his spear, burying it as deep as he could in the back of the Heartless’ head. Then, he used the water from his platform as a hammer, slamming it into the butt of his spear in an attempt to drive it further through the black flesh of the Darkside’s form...
