Picture(optional): Appearance: Tifa doesn't have one set outfit, but she does have one that she favors while hunting for Cloud. Like everything she wears, it's lightweight- a black vest over a white undershirt, black pants, and a black skirt that covers the back of her legs and comes to a pouch on the front. Unfortunately, her favoring this outfit has caused the zipper on the vest to tend to get stuck about an inch from the top. Her shoes are meant for travel and combat, having extra-thick soles and secured so that they will never fly off. Crystal earrings are visible in her brown hair.
Tifa holds herself like a fighter. Perfect posture, red-brown eyes alert, and muscles relaxed. She knows full well that if her body is stressed, so is she. In her front pouch, along with some other small items, are her gloves. These gloves are usually off, but should there be any sign of danger she will slip them on. There's nothing magical about them (other than a Cure materia in one and a Quake in the other), they're just hand protection, but over the years they've become nothing less than a second skin for when there's trouble.
Personality: Usually Tifa is remarkably carefree, especially considering her line of work. After the first year of looking for Cloud, she realized that stressing about him wasn't going to help and that as long as she was searching her hardest, there was nothing more that she could do. As long as there's no imminent danger, she'll go about her business with a smile on her face.
Tifa will go to any lengths to protect those she cares about, even if that means sheltering them more than they would like. She won't stop them if they have to do something important, she'll often encourage people to do what needs to be done, but if there's a choice between a friend going alone or with Tifa she'll be there to make sure they don't get hurt.
Her years of training have effected her physical behavior, making her prone to pacing and gesturing. It's also made her more intuitive- being on so many different worlds has made her need to adapt quickly to countless situations. Ask her about the Wonderland Tea Party.
Tifa has a deep hatred of Sephiroth and Shinra stemming from the Nibelheim Incident. She also dislikes poison (including poisonous insects), litterbugs, and carpeting (It's so weird to jump off of). She has a stubborn streak, but it rarely overrides her caring nature. In fact, the two often go hand in hand.
History/Background: ((Warning, the following contains MAJOR FFVII spoilers.))
Tifa grew up in the village of Nibelheim along with Cloud. The two of them weren't the best of friends, but being some of the only children in the village they did get along well. She trained under Zangan the martial arts master, and became his star pupil. Her mother died when she was eight, an event that triggered her and Cloud to attempt to climb the nearby Mt. Nibel. They were unable to complete the journey, which prompted Cloud to join SOLDIER so that he would be able to do things like that in the future, and so that Tifa would notice him. Before he left, Tifa made him promise that if she ever got in trouble, he would come to her rescue.
Over the next seven years she continued to train with Zangan. She also became a tour guide for Mt. Nibel and discovered that her mother was right, vegetables weren't as gross as she first believed. She learned to play the piano. Cloud was on her mind often, and she would wonder how he was doing.
When she was fifteen, she brought a group of Shinra SOLDIERS and guards to the Mt. Nibel Mako reactor. This group contained Sephiroth, Zack, and Cloud (who did not show his face for fear of his friends and family knowing that he had failed to join SOLDIER). Sephiroth she knew- he was a famous hero! Everyone knew his name and face. She even got her picture taken with him and Zack! When she took him to the reactor, he began acting odd. He locked himself away for who knows what reason, then, when he came out, he did what no one expected- he razed the entire village.
The entire town was burned to the ground, everyone except Zangan, Zack, and the guard (Cloud) was dead. Tifa found Sephiroth's sword by her father's body and joined Zack and Cloud in pursuing Sephiroth to the reactor. There, Cloud held her back while Zack rushed in...and was killed. Tifa followed, raising Masamune haphazardly and trying to strike Sephiroth with it. Sephiroth grabbed it from her and slashed her across the room. Cloud ran in after her and grabbed Zack's sword. As he raised it, Sephiroth pulled the covering off Jenova...and the darkness came.
When Tifa came to, Cloud had taken off his helmet and was kneeling over her, trying to wake her up. Overjoyed to see her childhood friend, Tifa couldn't bear to tell him that what he recalled happening was not what had actually happened. She still had the picture, and was extremely careful to never let him see it. She opened a bar there in Radiant Garden, the Frosted Flame (named in memory of her hometown), and for a year everything was fine.
This, as most peacetimes, did not last long. Maleficent arrived a year later, as did Sephiroth. As everyone abandoned the newly named Hallow Bastion, Cloud went after Sephiroth. Tifa followed, searching for Cloud. She knew it was his fight, but she wanted to help. Over the next nine years she followed him, catching up with him a few times but never for long. She got a new outfit, a lot of practice, and some time for reflection.
Cloud finally rested back in Hallow Bastion (soon to be rechristened Radiant Garden), and she found him in the middle of a fight with Sephiroth. Helping him find light, she watched as the two combatants once more disappeared. She searched for several more months before hearing rumors that Cloud and Sephiroth had returned to the Garden and that Sephiroth had taken residence in the castle there. She returned to Garden, which brings us to the present.
Role Playing Sample: ((I know I already have one for Pete, but seeing as how I'm putting him up for adoption I figure I should make a new one for reference's sake))
Tifa rinsed the glasses, as she did every night before the bar closed. She wasn't aiming to have her reflection in each of them, what kind of customer wanted to see themselves in their glass? Cleanliness was important, but as long as they were good enough to drink out of, they were clean enough.
The bell on the door rang and she looked up at it quickly. She always hoped that the bell meant Cloud was home. It never did. She had stopped letting that get to her a while ago, so she went back to her glasses. This one was shipped in from Beast's Castle- now that the curse was lifted, it wasn't alive, but it was one of her fancier wine glasses. The stem of the glass had a rose design twined around it, making it uncomfortable to hold (and clean), but perfect for special occasions. It had been one of a set that she had gotten as thanks for getting rid of the Heartless that Sora hadn't had time to clean up. Just one more stop on the journey.
Last call for drinks, and the bar was closed. Tifa looked at the stack of glasses left to be cleaned, made a face, and brandished her rag. It might not be the same as fighting Heartless and pursuing Cloud, but there was so much more to be gained by making sure that each and every glass was clean enough to impress her friends and guests, especially when Cloud finally came home.
