In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Nu... I don't think I will D< *blahblahblahblahblahblahblahs*
Going up against someone you didn't really know was one thing... going up against someone that you considered a friend was another. These were the thoughts that mulled through Hikari's mind as she had made her way though the arena, Dragon's Flame secure in it's sheath with the strap firmly hanging across her shoulder. However... she had to wonder why it was that she was even considering using her weapon in this match.... There's no way that she would actually go out and harm an actual friend of hers... even if the matches were for quote-unquote 'fun'.
Just... where was this fun? Going up against Rubix and hoping that at least trying to get him to forfeit so he wouldn't die was something she had tried to do... and look what happened to him because he hadn't thrown in the towel sooner. Riku was right... fun had run its course.
But maybe....
Kian was her next opponent.... Perhaps there was a chance of this event redeeming itself for being fun... in a sense. There was something that she remembered when she had talked to him when they first met in Radiant Garden. Kian wasn't one who really took that much joy in fighting seriously... and the fact that he was actually in this tournament most likely meant that he was here to have fun as well.
The "Super Awesome Battle of Kian Winningness And Rewards Galore [Never Seen Before Man Before] Charity of Fun" was a smashing success in Kian's opinion, now what was next was "Super Awesome Battle of Kian Winningness And Rewards Galore [Never Seen Before Man Before] Charity of Fun Part Two: Reloaded". The difference between this and the one prior? This time Kian was up against someone that he considered a friend, and friends didn't hurt friends. But... they were in a tournament, being hurt was one thing that was expected; and Kian wasn't going to hurt her, that would actually be fighting, he would just... challenge her, there was a huge difference in that. Even though he would have to be going against someone that was close to him, he could always come up with the excuse of 'the sequels are never better than the first'.
Kian walked out for the first time into the field, it hadn't changed much since the first time he'd seen it. Perhaps there were a few more smashes, dents and... charred marks? Bizarre... But no matter to that, he was here to pay attention to his match, not to play detective. "Ikari Akano Nezuyu" being the challenger that had popped up. Akano... heh... so that was her middle name, it wasn't something that he needed to know, but it was interesting. People didn't ever really give it out all that often; not that his was any better, Okan, sounded like some sort of tree.
Looking over, he gave a slight wave with a smile. Don't show her you're worried, just stick with it and you'll both be laughing about it later. Constant reminders of this would be needed in the future, he could tell.
Reaching to his back he took ahold of the handle of one of his scythes. Gilgamesh was 'nice' enough to steal it from him before... thankfully theft wasn't apart of the tournament, allowing the inuit to get them back. Looking back to make sure he had a good grip, his gaze returned back to the girl.
A smirk crossed his lips as he reminded her,"Hey, Iki, don't think you need to go easy or anything; that's not fun." The smirk had turned into a small smile.
Her light green gaze stayed locked on Kian as he walked onto the field. She folded her arms over her chest. Thanks to her prior match, Ikari had taken some time before the actual battle (and after getting simmered down) to get dressed into clothes that weren't torn and beat up like her normal everyday clothes that she took a liking to. Admittedly she didn't care for the grey-tipped fur that lined the collar of her vest, as it sort of tickled her neck when she moved her arms.
Kicking a boot against the ground, Hikari opened and closed her hands a couple of times, a tiny mix of fire and lightning dancing across both her fingers and knuckles. It may be a friend that she was going up against... but that didn't mean she had to hold back.
"Hey, Iki, don't think you need to go easy or anything; that's not fun."
Iki... Iki... Iki....
He did not just call her that.
"The name's IKARI!" the fire-user shouted to Kian, fire dancing away from her body and around it for a brief moment. Hikari had never cared for nicknames, and that wasn't going to be changing any time soon, that was for damn certain.
{lack of "pretty font" since my internet's being super gay today .-.}
The fire dazzled against his light blue eyes, licking at the surrounding air. Fire was beautiful as some would say, but it wasn't to the ice-user, oh no, to him fire was deadly, something he tried to avoid as best he could. It was safe to assume that Ikari felt the same about ice in a sense, or at least the cold.
They were opposites, polar perhaps, though that meant they had similar ways of defeat, weaknesses if you would. Kian had managed to trot across one just now in a way he hadn't expected at first. A name bringing anger? Heh, well, not everyone was cutout for nicknames; best to exploit it now.
Drawing out his scythes, he swung one around in a circle by the chain carelessly, looking at the tempered girl.
"Icky Iki, Icky Iki," he mocked, sticking his tongue out slightly.
Teasing wasn't nice, but it was fun, and it was bound to heat up the anger in his friend. Perhaps she wasn't known for being a berserker, but any push in the right direction could persuade things; Kiian was hoping that this would be the one to set her off.
Brow furrowed and her intense, piercing gaze being kept locked on Kian, Ikari clenched her fists and tensed a bit in preparation to attacking. As far as she could see it, someone needed to keep their mouth shut, and it definitely wasn't her. Fire licked her hands and wrists, almost looking as if they wanted to go out and envelop the ice-user.
Perhaps they were indeed opposites... but that didn't mean that they had the same weaknesses. However... if this match were to be fire versus ice... then there was going to have to be something for the girl to look out for. She couldn't allow for her powers to get too out of control, for one.... Second, she couldn't afford to get struck with ice and have it immobilize her for any amount of time.
Narrowing her eyes as Kian drew out his weapon, Hikari watched cautiously as he swung one of the blades around by its chain. The fire-user had known what it was that his weapons were for some time... she just didn't know how skilled or experienced he was with using them. All that Ikari knew was the fact that he used ice and had a mouth she felt like duct taping.
"Icky Iki, Icky Iki,"
Growling, Ikari barked out at him, "shut up! Shut up!"
Rushing forwards with her incredible speed, Ikari neared Kian and ducked down. Placing a hand against the ground, Ikari pushed herself upwards and aimed a well-rounded, sweeping kick for his side.
So much crap going on in my life... so yeah, I've got a damn good excuse for this to be so late >>
Here she came, just as anticipated. Seemed like if he struck the right parts he'd get a little spark of that fiery attitude burning; he'd keep that in mind for future reference. He stopped swinging his sickle as he saw her coming, holding not on the handle, but on the upper part of the chain instead.
There was no need to hang onto the actual handle. Why? She was running without a weapon drawn. He was preparing for a physical attack.
As she went down into a kick, he held out the chain tightly to his side, having it act as a makeshift shock absorber for the kick. As it hit he quickly brought down the upper half of the chain, making it wrap around her ankle, and pulled tightly. No doubt she was lucky by wearing her new attire over her old one... there was at least thick fabric covering her ankle this time, the chains wouldn't dig as deep as they would on bare skin.
He then pulled the chains across his body, hoping to increase the distance between them, or at least make her fall.
Kian was trained defensively, physical attacks weren't going to do much on him, he at least had that covered. However, there were other attacks he was more worried for from her...

Her leg made contact... but not with Kian's body. Instead it had made contact with the chain that Kian had drawn out. Ikari's gaze intensified as it did. The fire-user attempted to jump back, though was quickly stopped as Kian wrapped her ankle with his chain. Growling as he did so, Ikari's hand that was placed against the ground clenched around the dirt and into a fist.
Even if she was wearing more protection around her legs than she would have been if she had been wearing her other attire, the chains around her ankle still hurt.... And if Kian was going to disable her in any fashion so she wasn't able to fight... taking her speed out of the equation was the first way to go....
Feeling herself get pulled slightly, Ikari gasped as she kept her balance and hopped on her other foot for a moment. It felt rather silly to be doing as far as she thought.
Glaring up at him, Ikari pivoted her body and threw her hand up towards him, releasing the cloud of dirt that she had grabbed. Rule number one of survival: Everything's a weapon. Including dirt.
Pst, Fenrir... I know you like your big post count and all, but after every /2/ posts, man D: Doing it after every post is just... annoying and throws me and Shiay off our groove. And I hate losin' mah groove D< *hipthrust*
Kian held strong, feeling the jerk of motion pull him forwards slightly. He didn't want to hurt Ikari, not one bit, but he didn't want to lose either. Quite the predicament had formed before him, now hadn't it? Best to ignore the logic behind it and go back to what the teachers had taught him. Fighting was instinct, it was what humans did when they needed to, and everyone was able to do it, it was the few that could harness it that would become true warriors.
As far as warriors went, Kian was nowhere near the status of that. He could fight if he needed to, but he wasn't all that good at it. Ikari? She seemed better at it than he did... which wasn't helping things.
For a brief moment he glanced down at his friend, seeing a glare of hers meet with his gaze. It was much like a dagger at that moment, a dagger that had pierced through deep, hitting something that smarted like hell. It caught him of guard, made him wince inside slightly. At this moment in time, that was the last thing that he wanted to do.
Dirt flew into his eyes, he could feel it, and instinctively he eased his grip on the chain, bringing his dominant arm up to his eyes, rubbing quickly as tears emerged, trying to remove the filth.
"Gyeh..."
Well, it sure seemed like Ikari was fighting dirty today. Oh, where was a rimshot when you needed one?
He said he didn't fighting... she had heard him say that with her own two good ears. So what was this? Sure it was playing defense, but hell, someone who wasn't completely interested in fighting wouldn't have picked up on the basic fundamentals of combat (unless you were a freaking berserker -- in which case, Ikari didn't want to deal with those maniacs).
Giving a slight smirk as she felt the chain loosen on her, Ikari immediately turned her leg, wrapping more of the chain around her and snapping her leg back, hoping to pull Frosty's weapon from his grasp.
With that, Ikari also shifted her hands on the ground and pivoted her body backwards on the palms of her hands. Oh the pain in practicing how to get her body flexible enough to pull this very act off.
