In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

(( Lol, it's all good I'm loving this thread! Not many get good like this. I mean, there is real motive, story, and passion in this thread. You generally get the "I want to fight someone with my character and be the best rawwrrrr yaaaa!!" or whatever. But, this thread has a good plot in itself. ))
Mars listened, eager for an answer. He wanted to know, really know what he had to live for. Ironically, against what Mars thought to be all odds, he got his answer. The answer given was a work of art, and Mars could only respect it. Despite his 'I only care for myself' attitude, this mans answer hit Mars just where it needed to.
Mars nodded, his body relaxed and he smiled. "Great answer. I suppose that makes sense. At this point I couldn't agree more," Mars said as he laughed out loud. "I'm yours. Whether or not what you said was just to trick me into helping you, or whether it was 'cause you really wanted to give me an answer, or something else even, I'm satisfied. I'll help you, mainly you, in your endeavors. As far as I'm concerned I can't get any weaker, only stronger on your side."
Mars took a step toward this man. His head was still rushing. This time the ideas were different. If he had something to live for, did he have something to die for? At this point that answer wasn't relevant to Mars.
"The names Mars. Human, Keyblade wielder, whatever you wanna call me, don't matter to me," he said.
The fact that he was in this mans territory, and due to the events at hand, Mars knew he did not have much 'hand' or advantage in the situation. If this man wanted to kill Mars, for whatever reason, it'd be a hell of a lot easier then it would for Mars to kill him. This brought another point to Mars' head.
"So, I agree to help you. I hope you respect I don't trust you, though. It would be immature for me to. I hope you understand," he continued. "I don't expect you to trust me either. As far as I'm concerned, we have a similar goal, and it sure as hell couldn't hurt to put any friction we might have on pause until its reached."
To live for power... it seemed a little drastic to Mars as he really thought about it. However, what else did he have to live for?
(You're telling me. It helps that the two are so similar in their desires. It has been forever and a day since I role played, and getting back into it, this thread really reminded me why I first started role playing.)
Sai smirked as he listened to the young man's receptive answer. Pleased at the progression of the conversation, Sai was stirred by the thought of a professional alliance of sorts with a keyblade wielder. Intent on helping the tortured soul he saw in... Mars was it? Nevertheless, he was, he felt, in need of some working before he was exposed to much. Sai felt he needed to calm the storm of his mind before he did anything else. And, as Mars spoke of distrust, Sai knew that too would need to come before he was exposed, especially to Marluxia. Being a renegade with power and followers, Sai intended to speak with Marluxia, and with a strength like Mars with him, he figured things might go over much more easily. Like the other Heartless, Sai too wished for the eradication of the pesky Nobodies, however he also wished for more; and this young keyblade wielder was the first step in the right direction.
"Trust," he insisted, "Is nominal at best. Like most other emotions, trust too is a binding emotion, and thus an undesirable. One thing is for certain, what drives you is what you with gain in return. Love seeks love, anger seeks anger, and similarly does power seek power. If power is something important to you, which it very well should be, then you must let it drive you."
Wishing to not beat a dead horse, Sai left his advice at that, for now. He figured times would present themselves when he could instill in this young warrior the thoughts and beliefs he held. There would certainly be plenty of time for that ahead. Looking at the young man he offered a smile as a sort of trust mechanism.
"There is much ahead for you, young wielder. I can say that more assuredly."
He said this not to intimidate the young man, but to challenge him. Not to mention that it was most certainly true. If Sai was to get what he desired, then this "Mars" would have much to do moving forward. Though, Sai was determined to be certain nothing was overwhelming, as an unstable keyblade wielder would indeed be a problem.

This man knew a lot. He was very wise. At least Mars felt this. His words continued to hit Mars right where they needed to, and the more Mars listened... the more he felt connected to this individual. The more one of Mars' many holes in his heart wanted to fill, the more he wanted a friend.
Nonsense. Mars truly needed nobody. To partner with somebody was merely a bonus. There were no friends, not even family could be trusted, that Marluxia had showed him. Friends... what folly.
"I couldn't agree more," Mars said with a nod as he paced himself back and forth until inexorably he began to lean against the nearby wall of one of the buildings. The streets were as dark and empty as he remembered them from a year ago, and not much had changed but for the broken wall here or there most likely evolving from a heated battle. "I can't help but feel you have the 'hand' in our agreement. It's definitely not like me to let things stay that way. However, for now I'm ok with it. You've given me enough talk of philosophy to leave me satisfied, and because of this I feel much better--pleased enough to push aside my instant emotions of immaturity and rash decision making. It's been over a year since I've been around these worlds, and I can honestly say I've grown stronger in every aspect. The fact I'm agreeing to work with a Heartless in itself is proof of this."
Mars was saying a lot. It was true that Mars always resorted to boasting, threats, and other comments of the sort if he couldn't get the information he wanted. This one point in time, even if it be just this once, was very, very different.
"What, my new ally, do you feel should be our first duty in our efforts? Find Marluxia, use him like he intended to use me, or something else?" He asked happily.
Mars would leave the tactics up to this man. It was obvious that he had more knowledge of current events, and because of this it was probably better he did most of the thinking. Mars would stick to what he did best... just being the brawn of the operation. He never minded getting his hands dirty.
(( Yea, the same here. Haha, we've both been absent, huh? Kind of ironic if you ask me. We both disappear from the forums a while, appear around the same time with characters that have a similar goal in mind. Haha, we were meant for each other xD lol jk. ))
(Hah, I can agree with that. Though, not the "meant for each other" part. XD)
Sai released his arms from their interlocked position a top his chest. He let them fall to his sides and simply hang there, motionless for a while. As he listened to Mars speak, he knew he had convinced him well enough to gain his trust for the time being, whether he would admit it or not was unimportant. As long as the keyblade wielder was no longer a ticking time bomb, Sai had done what he had hoped, and he was pleased with that. Moving forward would not be as tricky, but he knew he still needed to tread lightly, as Mars was still an unsure and unstable individual, capable of snapping if he were to become mentally conflicting. Though he seemed to wish to go after Marluxia quickly, Sai knew allowing him to meet Marluxia again could cause a rekindling of his old thoughts based on Marluxia's teachings. He found them viable before, and could easily be reverted, knowing Marluxia to be the manipulative type.
Sai shook his head at Mars' question.
"I feel, unfortunately, that we need a significant bargaining chip in order to force Marluxia to talk with us, let alone deal with us. It will come in time, my friend, trust me. However, patience and intelligence will be our greatest allies, and also our greatest foes. It will be tough I am sure, to have to wait to get Marluxia back for his efforts; but it will be in your best interest, as well as my own to be sure all is well-prepared ahead of time."
Sai felt it important to assure Mars that he would get his chance to get Marluxia, as he may grow angry if he wasn't promised a shot at the manipulative Nobody. He knew he would also have to work this with the Superior Heartless. Knowing he may not be keen on a "mutual partnership," Sai knew he would need to explain this in an appealing manner to Ansem, and a keyblade in the mix would make things far easier.
He would have to be sure Mars knew what he was planning, lest he think Sai to be serious when he talks with Ansem, blurt out his discontent and ruin their plans, and more importantly, his plans.
"You must now listen carefully," Sai began, being sure Mars understood that this would be critical, "Be aware, as far as most of the other Heartless are concerned, you are a new recruit of ours. That they will not argue, seeing your usefulness due to your possession of a keyblade. You and I shall know of our agreement, but the others must not. I caution you to watch what you say that nothing is to slip up. Be sure emotions do not clog your mind and cloud your vision. They will cause us both nothing but trouble, as is their nature."
Aside from a lack of emotion being key to Mars being allowed to work with the Heartless and keep his secret, it would also be good practice for him, that soon enough he would forsake his emotions and truly be a power-driven individual, immune to the persuasions of another.
Mars was never the person to take orders from anyone, unless under dire circumstances. This was one of those cicrumstances. He was somewhat lost in his own thoughts still, but as far as he was concerned his quest to become stronger in hopes of finding a better answer for life was only viable this way.
"I get you. I'll keep the mouth shut unless spoken to--I know how this is supposed to go," he said as he made a zipper motion across his mouth.
Still bearing an Organization XIII cloak, Mars had an idea. He still had trust of the Organization. Because of this he might be able to sneak in and gather some information. However, this was still risky as he had been absent for almost a year. How would Xemnas take to that? In any case, if Mars were to be banished from the Organization, he liked the cloak, and he would keep it.
But, wait, they wouldn't kick him out so fast, would they? The idea of wielding a Keyblade was a big thing around here. The Organization wouldn't want to toss that away would they?
Not to mention that Mars was aware that he could truly give information about one organization to another if he wanted to. However, it would be unwise to ditch the Dark XII for the Organization considering that the Org. had no emotions, and Mars would be disposed of after they had gotten their use of him.
"Perhaps, I could gather some information from within the Organization to prove how strong I already am. No doubt they wouldn't at least let me in right now, though I'd probably be bombarded with questions as to where I went," he said as he noted a Dusk float by in the alley nearby. He shoved it off for the time being, one Dusk Nobody didn't concern him too much, though where there was one there was usually more.
"Maybe we should talk this over with someone that has more say, and more knowledge? Maybe Ansem? Or another of the Dark XII that might be interested in hearing what I might be able to get them for a simple lesson in using the darkness?" he proposed.
He wasn't expecting to get what he asked. Asking for what he was asking for, even Mars knew it was foolish, and rash. Why would someone like Ansem offer him power for a little information. He wouldn't, Mars was just trying to help push some sort of motive in this Heartless' plans.
Sai was intrigued by Mars' proposition of reentering the Organization in an attempt to gain some more information. However, he was already sure of what Mars commented on, that questions would abound if he chose to go back. He would need to rehearse his story and be sure he could explain anything they would ask about. It was indeed a good idea, however, it too would take some preparation. At this point, he figured, they were better off simply training Mars and getting him naturalized into the Heartless fold.
"While that is an interesting, and viable, idea; I am not quite sure it would be so easy. As you stated, I am certain questions would abound. And, with that in mind, it would be best to rehearse your story to be sure all of your bases are covered, lest something would happen there."
Sai noticed the Dusk nearby. It was a concern to him as it was a Nobody. He had a plan for the wandering Nobody and its comrades which were most assuredly nearby. He figured he could use them as a test to see where Mars was in respect to the darkness, and the control of his Keyblade. With that he could determine where to begin with the young man and his advancement.
"I do not think it wise at this time to include any other members into the situation. For the time being this needs to remain between the two of us until we are certain of our next few moves. I have thoughts as to who we can talk with, Ansem is not who I have in mind. As I said, he may not be so easily convinced that anything short of complete submission would suffice in order for you to work with us. Which is precisely why that is what you must show."
On that subject, Sai knew why he could not allow Ansem to know of Mars' true intentions, or his own. However, he needed to know just how close to the darkness Mars was.
"I am curious, did you learn anything during your time with Marluxia and the Organization? Did they connect you to the darkness?" He paused, remembering that he had been asked his name by Mars, I am known as Sai."

(( Wow, life got hectic. Sorry, bro. I know I hate waiting more than a day for a reply..))
Mars listened. And he listened. It was odd, Mars never listened. He was generally the guy to turn his back to anyone trying to say what Mars had suggested was wrong, and Mars would go ahead to do what he wanted to in the first place either way.
This was different.
"Whatever you say, boss. Just tell me what to do," he said with a shrug as he spotted another Nobody in the ally opposite the first had been spotted. "They taught me a lot. Portals, et cetera. And my power has grown tremendously. I can do things I never thought possible."
This was true. Mars had such a dark heart at this point that his potential with the darkness was skyrocketing. He knew, though, that he had to be careful or he could be lost to it.
Another Nobody... this wasn't good. Surely they were watching Mars. Mars couldn't exactly kill them, either. It would be a potential giveaway to his tactics against the Organization.
Unless.... he killed every single one in the area of sight.
(( I know the post sucked, haha. Gotta get going back to that hectic life. ))

(Wow...I don't even know how to explain this gap... Not sure if this can be continued at this point, but out of pure guilt as a role player, at the least, I assume a response would be required.)
Well, this would be an interesting situation, Mars was most assuredly in a position of interest, a Keyblade wielder with a heart of darkness, yet not quite decomposed to the point that he would lose all usefulness. This was most fortunate indeed. At this point, Sai solely needed to be certain that Mars remained in control of his heart, lest he lose his keyblade prior to his plans reaching fruition. As he contemplated the possibilities for the next few steps, his eyes finally registered the Nobodies which he had already sensed were there earlier. The thought of dispatching them himself came to mind immediately; however, being who he was, Sai thought perhaps this was the perfect opportunity to see his new associate in action. A test of sorts.
Yes, this was perfect. Crossing his arms, Sai took on a rather nonchalant appearance, relaxed as could be. He nodded towards one of the small pests as they wandered out of the shadows briefly.
"I think we have need for an exterminator, my friend. Perhaps you would do the honors? he began, hints of a somewhat devious smile beginning to show on his face, his lips curling upwards ever so slightly. "It would seem to me that you are itching to, after all."
With that he forced a small chuckle, playing off the nuisance of those Nobodies as if it were unimportant, though he knew what could happen if they were allowed to return to their stronghold. As far as he was concerned, Sai was killing three birds with one stone. Not only was he testing the powers of this new acquisition, he was also going to have a show, something to entertain him. Not to mention, this would be ridding the area of those bothersome Nobodies, and he wouldn't have to lift a finger in order to do so.
At this point his attention returned the the matters at hand, how would he present this to Ansem in a way that would seem most appealing, yet would not lose him control of Mars to the use of the Dark XII; knowing if he was swayed with one conversation, it might not be out of the range of possibility for him to be influenced by over-exposure to the presence of another.
(I checked back and back again for weeks. Nothing happened. I stopped checking early December. I RANDOMLY checked again today, and it just happened you literally JUST posted a couple days ago. Lucky me (: -- Haven't done this in a while again, so bear with the terrible post)
Nobodies. They had seen Mars. The fact that they had seen him would alone be enough to drive them back to the Organization to relay information that Mars was back. However, the one thing keeping them from doing so immediately must have been the Heartless that Mars was yet to show hostility to. They were curious.
"I'll take care of it," Mars said with an emotionless tone. Every single Nobody that had seen him had to die. It was the only way he'd be able to continue on with that he had planned.
As fast as the eye could blink Mars had vanished and reappeared dashing toward the Nobody farthest from the location of the Heartless. The speed he was traveling was so fast that merely holding his sword horizontally without forward thrust was more than enough to cut directly through the Nobody destroying it.
Emerging from thin air came the giant key. It was thrown toward a small group of Nobodies and as it grew near its target, sparks and bolts jolted from every inch of the key exploding those nobodies that were unfortunate to be nearby. The key then disappeared and returned to Mars' hand as he continued to dodge, swing, fight... and kill every single Nobody in the surrounding area.
Not even two minutes later all but one of his newfound opponents were eliminated. The final one was running, though not in fear, but knowing it was the last survivor and if it were to die to then all they had fought for would be lost.
"Lightning has always been my specialty..." Mars mumbled as one thing bolt of electricity fell from the sky obliterating the Nobody as it ran.
The keyblade vanished, Mars sheathed his sword, he stood straight and relaxed. His left hand brushed some dust off his right shoulder as he turned to face the Heartless.
"Those things are so weak they are nearly useless to anyone with skills as a fighter. I'm embarrassed for the Organization for even keeping them around."
