Character Name:Reliquim
Nickname:Rel (rarely)
Age:22
Gender:Male
Species:Humanoid/Firefox. However, judging by his actions, it would not be hard to mistake him for a witty, yet cruel Heartless.
Societal Position: Chaotic (Technically Neutral, but by many standards, Evil)
Dusty old recordPowers:Playing with Heartstrings:Reliquim has a knack for figuring people out. It doesn't take him long to detail a person's attitude, feelings and mannerisms, and categorize a person's motives, essentially. Though not always, he often uses this ability to mess with the subject's Heartstrings.
Eyes of the Heartless:This move is done similar to an exchange of consciences, in which he can see through the Heartless' eyes. The Heartless still retain their ability to move and think on their own, just that their goals are temporarily refined. However, due to the high level of concentration for this particular ability, his body, in its trance-like state, is highly vulnerable to attack. He can only see though one Heartless's eyes at any given time.
(Note: This does not apply to peoples' played characters.)Blood of the Emberfox:While taking on many of the traits that would seem Human, Reliquim is, in fact, a monster. A Firefox, actually. While he typically resides in his Humanoid form, his seven-foot grey Vulpine form is often times a favored alter-identity.
Weapons:Regardless of his form, Reliquim would likely apply his claws and teeth to a physical battle. He's decent with ad-lib combat with other weapons, but will only use other weapons if he knows there's no way around it. While he does have a series of thin, ridged daggers for self defense, he doesn't generally like to fight hand-to-hand, but rather prefers to create battles of the mind.
Appearance:His twisted smile and wide eyes (rarely displayed) are the only obvious signs of his unstable mental state. Said eyes are blood burgundy in color and a brilliant offset to his medium silver, messy hair. His skin tone is a medium olive. In Human form, Reliquim holds a few traces of his Firefox origins, ranging from the blood red tribal fire tattoo on his left shoulder, to a jaw-full of sharp teeth, and large bronze claws tipping his fingers. In addition to these Canid attributes, his Human form is complete with the bronze collar and chain --echoes from his Vulpine form. His chest is covered with a purple vest and black undershirt. His pants are a matching purple, which are tucked into black, knee-high boots.
Often chosen by the Puppeteer as a tool to scare people, his Emberfox form, with its ghoulish appearance, is often used to play tricks on townsfolk. Medium grey is the main color of his Vulpine form. Dark, ash-gray socks, flames and a tail-tip offset this color. Contrary to their burning sensation, the constant ashen flames dancing from his paws are frigid, their temperature tainted by his icy Heart. When strands of these flames detach from their core, they simply fade away.
His bronze collar and chain are cold reminders of his fate; he's discovered that they're permanent fixtures, despite his attempts to remove them. They're stuck with him until he dies. Lastly, to compliment that medium silver of his fur, his eyes are a blood-burgundy color, the eyes not but thin slits. The crazed expression tends to be heightened in his Vulpine form.
Personality:A good Heart that's been mangled beyond repair, Rel is a cracked individual. He's quiet, and despite his species, takes on the behaviors of a Cat rather than a Canine. He chooses those he wishes to be loyal to, and enjoys a good game of Cat and Mouse. Due to his background, Reliquim's mentality is close to, if not shoved over, the brink. Those on his bad side are usually condemned to suffer his merciless mind games. Often, he enjoys throwing wrenches into other peoples' plans simply for the demented high of cruelty.
Though he would never admit it, pangs of pain from his past still jab at him. His mode of release is to put others through some sort of torment, usually mental. His victims are commonly limited to those who have done a serious injustice to either himself or others. To him, these people are no longer Human anyway.
Being a quiet, observant being, he has practiced reading people for many long years, and can usually pick up on their reasoning. He often delights in delving into the workings of the mind and discovering what makes individuals tick and why; articles on such subjects highly intrigue him.
Original World:Yorani (home of the Firefox and Emberfox kin)
Current Residing World:Traverse Town
Surviving Yorani's Destruction:The first fifteen years of Reliquim's life were spent amongst his own people, an Emberfox clan. These darker Canids broke away from their Firefox brethren to form their own clan eighty-two years ago. This sub-species chose to separate their ties from their home world, Yorani, at this same time. For this reason, the Emberfox clan survived Yorani's destruction.
They settled on the outskirts of a rocky, autumn-like forest and found a very peaceful living.
The Legend of the Ghost Fox:Rel began his life marked for his differentiation. His mind works in a very advanced, but very unique way. He grew up left-handed, and would often break down problems and come up with atypical solutions - not that they were wrong, they were just very... non-idealistically built. His unique attributes, while truly a strength, were constant targets for the other children's ridicule, and he found himself often the "runt of the litter", if you will.
In his early teenage years, he began exhibiting dangerously aggressive tendencies toward those who picked on him, and began to be viewed as a threat to his own community. To keep him contained, his older brother decided to confine him via a chain to their house - much like an aggressive animal is kept on a leash to keep the community out of harm's way. It wasn't long after his sentence to his chain that his brother (power-hungry, driven by anger and perhaps insanity himself) murdered many citizens of their town - including his own family. Reliquim was on the hit list as well.
Mortally wounded, he expected to die. But it was not his time to go. Upon the transition to the Afterlife, an Archangel sent him back, with the stipulation that whomever he kills, he will bear the weight of their deaths through the metal collar around his neck (now a permanent fixture). A portion of each person's soul becomes bound to the bronze-colored collar, becoming a permanent haunting voice that only he can hear.
Once he learns that the voices will never leave him, Reliquim gets serious about hunting down his brother, with every intention to end him. He is convinced that only once his brother has paid for his mistakes, will the voices stop.
Each "voice" has a name:
Victoria was his first voice, and unfairly, his best friend. He accidentally killed her in a mishap with a fork, and regrets it to this day.
One of Rel's biggest enemies, Elwood picked on him since day one, even assaulted him physically. He rightfully deserved his untimely end.
Jasper was a mercy killing; mortally wounded, and pleading for the peace of death.
Arlen challenged him, and lost the fight.
The particular strand of Firefoxes that Reliquim stems from views their Firefox (Emberfox) form as more of a curse than a blessing, and thus they are never seen in it. For this very reason, Reliquim is often prefers his four-pawed appearance, if for little more than to spite his own clan.
Favorite Tea:Rose Petal
Favorite Color:Teal
Favorite Food:Tacos, Fish Head Soup, Grilled Squirrel (a delicacy within his Clan).
Quirks:He's OCD.
Special Side Notes:Through his long and perilous journey, Rel has discovered that inflicting pain on others temporarily relieves the pain of his own inner turmoil. He never desires to kill his victims, all he's looking for is something to numb his suffering, even if only for a time.
Despite all of the drama of his past, Reliquim could very likely balance out, to some extent, if anyone could love him past his madness.
He doesn't consciously know it, but acceptance and someone to truly love him for who he is, is what he's been after all along.
