In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

The battle was over and the tired warriors tried to remain in one piece. They were quite respectful each other and even had a handshake ... however, Jack seemed bothered by something ...It looked like wanted to say something, but the fight was so difficult and tiring that he couldn't even think of doing anything but eat his opinion and silently wait until he can be nursed back to health.
"Do you have something in mind, Jack? The day freedom of speech dies is the day we lose what makes us intelligent living beings"
Live in freedom, die in freedom. That was a philosophy she followed since a good part of her life. What's the value of being an individual living being with your own wishes for the future if somebody censors or outright forbidden you from even talking what you have in mind? Things like that that restricted freedom disgusted her.
And Kanji seemed to have his mind somewhere else. He was enigmatic and hardly spoke any word, let alone share what he thinks unless somebody ask him.
"Never mind, if nobody has anything to add, let's finish this day. I'll fix your wounded bodies and send you back to your homes. Good job team."
Jack, surprising himself, almost spoke. But, again, he did not feel like being lectured. Also, he knew the feeling well from training. Isabelle would comment on how little progress they made, Jack often responding with something to the effect of, "'Hardly any progress?' I learned five techniques today!" And she would then respond by showing him just how much better she was than him. And this was about once a day. Twice, sometimes.
He then remembered how she died, which prompted him to ask a question. "Do the Heartless have a leader? And what did you mean by white creatures?"
Kanji finally came out of his thoughts. He thought it was best If he didn't dwell on such things, If he was going to find someplace to stay then he would find it..otherwise he would adapt. He heard Jack's question and it did make him think for a while.
Kanji stood in the same position for a while...still waiting to be dismissed.
She looked at Jack and congratulated him for having a bright and open minded mind. Normal people would think heartless were animal-like and lacked intelligence, but Saga knew better than not everything about heartless was known and some heartless with slightly higher intelligence existed and probably leaded those who lacked a will of their own.
"Excellent question, Jack. Thanks to the unexpected meeting once I had with an annoying witch and a man suspected to be a nobody I realized that both heartless and nobodies might have high ranked members acting as leaders of the lesser ones. As for what are nobodies, my research about them is in diapers but I discovered that they are another byproduct of a human being consumed by their selfish desires. Normal people tend to call those selfish desires "darkness" but actually it's the ultimate expression of emotions taken to the extreme, and once a while nobodies are born from those who become heartless, and nobodies are the white ones I mentioned before"
Noticing Kanji's eagerness to leave, she decided to make a reality his wish.
"Unless you have any more questions or need to be healed by me, you are dismissed. We'll continue with our activities two days later and you can do whatever you want during that period"
Jack nodded as Saga spoke. It made sense, the Heartless having a leader. But a group of leaders... Killing all the Heartless would be harder than he thought. Plus, only a very strong Heartless would be able to lead the others.
And the Nobodies seemed like an obstacle here as well. Perhaps they deserved to be part of Lee's plan as well... But until he found out more about them, they weren't important. Lee had more questions, but was too tired and in pain to ask them. Lee walked towards Saga, exhaustion and pain clear on his face.
Kanji didn't wait another minute. Before any of them could say anything he was already half way through the town. He continued walking without stopping still thinking about this plan of Saga's, or If it would work. Several moments later he sat with his back towards a house.
It didn't take him long to fall asleep...what tomorrow would bring he still didn't know.
"Already leaving? Be careful with your body, you only live once, unless ... no, it's too early for that"
No, it wasn't time to share with them one of her other pet projects, the possibility of finding a way to revive dead people. In theory it would be possible, but an untested theory could have ... terrific consequences if her hypothesis were wrong.
"Kanji is gone, now let me see your wounds. Jack ... ... a clearly twisted and dislocated shoulder and strained muscles in the same area plus many bruises in another areas of the body. I give you two choices my follower: Do you wish for me to perform a standard bone realignment procedure followed by some muscle relaxing balms, or you would like to become my first guinea pig to test one of the byproducts of my research?"
She might be ethically wrong due the direction her research took involving defying the creation itself, but she would never force an intelligent being to become the guinea pig of an untested treatment related with her superhuman development plan.
"It is an untested byproduct of certain project I have involving the evolution of humanity and while it might be very painful, I can guarantee you that it is not fatal, after all you are a very cherished member of my project for an universe free of heartless. All I can say is .. that it would completely heal your wounds if successful and if it's a failure, well, you will feel severe pain for some time and I'll have to heal you the old fashioned way. The choice is yours"
Jack considered the experimental method. He didn't find the possibility of pain very enticing, as no non-sadistic person would. But if it worked, it would be very useful in prolonged battles. He figured that it wouldn't cost him more than some time and pain. He shrugged indifferently.
"I suppose the experiment wouldn't be too bad..." he trailed off. Then he remembered what he saw in the scientist's lab. "You know, on second thought, old-fashioned approved medicines never hurt anyone...
Even though he was asleep, Kanji still found it difficult to stay that way. Every now and then he would open his eyes and stare at the sky. He wanted to return to Saga to see what her and jack were up to.. but something...kept him from doing so.
After quite some time...he started walking back towards them.
"No problem, more opportunities to test my research will present themselves in front of me later. If only I could test it on myself, but due certain specials circumstances let's say that it has no effect on myself"
It wasn't the time yet, she didn't trust enough her two followers to tell them that she was already changed forever after testing no herself the untested first version of her human evolution plan. If they weren't convinced enough they could leave the moment she mentioned how she was no longer a common human.
While she wondered about when it would be the proper time to mention that little detail, Kanji returned to them, a bit sleepy but he returned.
"Problems, Kanji? Weren't you leaving to have a good rest? Or maybe you want to hear more about my plans? If both of you devote your lived at 100% to fulfill my goals, I might share with you the greatest secrets of my research"
While she waited for a reaction from her followers, she searched inside a bag with medical supplies she brought prior to the battle for medicine to heal bruises.
Within his mind, heart and soul, Jack knew he would never devote himself one hundred percent to any person or group other than himself. Though Saga wanted to get rid of Heartless just as he did, Jack had no reason to study them; he wanted to eradicate them. Exterminate them. Not only that, but to cause them pain. Lightning was a good torture device, and Lee intended to do so to their leader, whatever the cost.
Jack watched as Kanji returned. He must not have been that tired, but he did look somewhat sleepy as he got closer. In response to Saga's words, Jack shrugged indifferently. As bad as it made him seem, Jack was only interested in his goals.
Kanji didn't respond for quite sometime...he calmly waited for the silence to settle. He looked to Saga....then to Jack. It was quite funny how this turned out, and it was also a bit dangerous. The three of them knew nothing about each other, at least..nothing personal. While he had confidence is Saga's Ideals...he couldn't help but wonder exactly how useful Jack was.
'' If I may Saga.'' Kanji met her gaze before continuing.
'' There's no reason for you to share you goals with anyone...especially not beginners like us. I have full confidence in your goals...I'm just saying that being cautious will help your goals a bit more'' Kanji sighed. He knew that Saga most likely did everything that he said, but he had a reason to discuss this topic.
" Jack....Saga's project could be our greatest defense against the heartless. Seeing as how you joined her I wish to make one thing clear...whatever your true intension is...make sure it does't interfere with this alliance...or plan.'' Kanji said and for some reason he looked a lot more serious then he usually was.
"Your lack of interest is disappointing, Jack, but as long you cooperate with me it's all right and having your own goals it's good as well for it's part of mankind's nature. However, I must say that I don't think you will be able to follow me in the final steps of my plan, that's reserved only for the most faithful allies, but until then let's work together to cleanse the universe of the filth of those defects."
She listened to Kanji and while his words were full with truth, she also needed to know how much they were going to dedicate themselves to her cause, her goals and prepare to commit acts that goes against the laws of nature.
"It's true, Kanji, but there's certain details about my research that could be too much for some potential allies and they would either abandon me or in the worst scenario actively attempt to stop me. Hence why I ask for your devotion to my plans, to know who's ready to go till the bitter end."
Kanji was a smart and faithful follower worth of her trust, but Jack's loyalty wasn't completely with her, so she had to give him a taste of her research to find the secret of the ultimate evolution.
"If I could perfect my research, no more humans would die of injuries. Watch the results of my research"
She picked a scalpel from her medical bag and made a clean cut on her right arm, long and deep enough to leave a trail of slightly darker than usual red blood flowing from the injury for some seconds before the injury healed itself as if it were magic.
"If humanity possessed this kind of enhanced healing factor, no longer people would die tragically for accumulated injuries, at least as long they aren't decapitated for it goes beyond the capabilities of my untested attempt at reproducing this effect"
She went next to Jack and forcefully put back his dislocated arm back to it's normal position. For a trained man like him that would only hurt a little and she quickly applied some muscle relaxing balm on the area around the muscles of his shoulder and other bruises.
"Tested and proven medicine is good, but it could be better."
She didn't want to show too much of her powers born from her research, but she was sure that showing him at least the potential benefits of the untested healing enhancing substance would at least convince him that her TRUE research was as valuable as her research to find how to kill heartless fast.
"This is why I said the untested product I offered to you wouldn't work on me. It was pure luck what let an even less unrefined version of this research to give me an enhanced healing factor, but now I have it always active in my body. I could have died as well when I tested it on myself and that's why I wanted to find guinea pigs who were willing to test a more safe version of this product and in safe small quantities"
Jack wasn't as dedicated as Saga wished, but he planned on being useful in the meantime. Though, if the time came and he was excluded in the final battle against the Heartless' leader or leaders, Jack would have to go against Saga and Kanji, and any other followers that may join by then, to make sure that the Heartless' sadistic leader pays. He felt it was his duty. He deserved the privelege after what he went through, didn't he.
When Saga cut her arm and it healed, Jack had to admit he was amazed. Such an ability would prove extremely useful, but if as Saga said, it would have potential harmful side effects, he wasn't sure it would be worth it. Plus, he was n't too excited at the prospect of being a guinea pig for some untested experiment that he could be harmed from. As far as Jack was concerned, an untested product carried risks of side effects, even death. He wasn't willing to take the risk.
He winced as his shoulder was relocated, but after the balm took effect, he felt better. He rubbed his shoulder gratefully. Turning to the scientist, he said, "Thank you. For the record, I am as devoted to destroying the Heartless as anyone is, if not more. But I want my revenge. The Heartless killed my sister and everything I know and love. This," he said, holding up his sword, "is the only thing I have left from my home. I want to make those- those things suffer. I want them to feel the pain like I do. I want to rip out their hearts and put it through a torture chamber, only to kill them later, like they did to me. My body and my mind are alive, but my heart and soul died months ago."
He hadn't shared these thoughts with anyone before. He felt these things and more, feeling like he had become a Heartless himself. But he was better. He did things for a reason, for the greater good. They killed for their own reasons. They took millions of lives, sometimes because they could. They were just evil.
Kanji remained silent once again. While Saga's ideals were very good, he wanted to stick around to see how they went. Jack seemed to be consumed by rage, and often that was deadly..especially in humans. This..If not dealt with properly, could cause an Issue with his performance. Kanji had returned to traverse town just to start a life, but seemed that once again...nothing went according to plan.
'' He who fights monsters should see in the process that he does not become one himself.'' Kanji said to Jack.
He turned to face the woman who had completely changed his perspective on life.
'' Do you need me for anything else Saga?'' he asked
