Age: Appears to be around the area of 16, though she is physically only a few years old. Her intellect and age is a reflection of her Somebody.
Position: Witch of Memories
Drawing the Chain Namine's most important ability is the power to control memories. She can reach out into anybody's memories with enough energy, but she can specifically manipulate the memories of Sora and those tied to him. Nobody knows how she was created with this unique ability, but she has been forced to use it on many occasions. To control this ability, Namine must have a form of writing utensil. She can draw on any surface and change the memories/create the memories a person owns. The only weakness to this ability is if they see the drawings of the lost memories (which are usually coupled with the rewritten memories), they have a very good chance of recovering the lost memories. (Roxas stumbled upon this secret when he came upon her room in the Mansion.)
A Thing of Beauty ((Only speculation here, not final. Feel free to bash this. Note that she has not obtained the Keyblade yet.))
Ancient Melody Ancient Melody has the unique ability to copy memories from the opponent. It can then use the memories to create an illusionary form, usually one that may have appeared in the enemy's past. It can be a Keyblade or any other normal weapon. Mostly used to disorient the opponent, the weapon itself does this at will.
Due to the fact that Kairi, Namine's significant other, can hold a Keyblade, Namine has the ability to summon one as well. She and Kairi share a similar Heart, and Namine has stumbled upon a new Keyblade- the Keyblade of Memories. A Keyblade of a beautiful blue and gold, it is a Light weapon, archaic in nature... A thing that represents the nostalgia of lost memories. With shining jems and beautiful designs, it lacks size, but makes up for it in Magic abilities.
Namine doesn't fight physically with it, but it is more or less her companion, and uses itself as a physical shield as Namine draws spells. Ancient Melody has the ability to levitate around her. Note that it requires the same amount of power as a normal Keyblade, meaning that when it swings, it leaves a moderate amount of openings. ((To avoid god-modding, of course.))
A Piece of Heart Namine is able to use her unique drawing abilities to draw elements when the need surfaces. Whatever form or color she draws them in changes the effect. For example, a series of yellow scribbled would be Thunder, while a wavy blue line would be Water. (The drawing normally takes a post, but can sometimes be shortened depending on the type of spell.) She cannot attack physically, but relies on Ancient Melody to shield her.
Namine is unique in nature as she is the only Nobody taken in by the Organization XIII that did not require a black coat. She wears a plain white dress most of the time, with sandals. This dress is due to the fact that she is a Nobody, and her clothes aren't meant to show emotion. It goes down to about mid-thigh, and she sometimes finds it informal, whereas she switches into a longer dress. Her sandals, if examined closely, have floral patterns, while her white dress is made of lace.
Her eyes are a vibrant blue, just like her Somebody's, and her hair is a dirty blonde color, just reaching her shoulders. It usually drapes over her right shoulder. She normally keeps it out of her face, revealing doll-like features. She bears slight resemblance to Kairi, but it is not great, due to the fact that she wasn't created from Kairi's body. Sora's body turned to Roxas, so Namine's body is unexplained, although she is believed to be born from Sora in some way, due to her unique abilities.
Namine is a very petite person, all in all. She is very thin and extremely short, making her one of the weakest Keyblade Wielders to date.
Namine also uses a longer and move mobile version of her current dress while travelling, just in case an enemy is to attack. It is easier for her to defend herself when she can move around. It reaches her shins, and it has the same pattern as her old one, with a slight split down the sides, allowing running.
Personality: Once believed to not have emotion whatsoever, this false Nobody broke that stereotype long ago. From birth, her emotions go as followed:
Namine can get lonely quite easily. Shown throughout many points in the storyline, she enjoys other people, friends, and strives to meet new people. She enjoys smiling and laughing with them, and is a very open person once you get to know her. Due to her lack of previous friends, she doesn't really know how to communicate, so many of her messages are cryptic at first. And although she doesn't have many friends, she is vigilant about protecting those she cares about, and shows it by protecting them as well as she can. She can get very emotional at times of goodbyes.
She smiles quite a bit and enjoys the simple things in life, the things that she hasn't yet gotten to experience.
Original World: Castle Oblivion, her birthplace.
Current Residing World: The world that never was
Chain of Memories It all started... With birth by sleep. Kairi's Heart was freed from Sora's body long ago, leaving Namine stranded, without memory or knowledge of what she was. She awoke in Castle Oblivion, unsure of even her name. She remembered it had something to do with... Water. Thus, she called herself Namine. "Nami" meant "ocean wave", and she felt it was appropriate, for she soon found herself drifting in a current she couldn't control... The Organization XIII had stumbled upon her.
Once her powers and origins were discovered, Xemnas forced her service, attempting to draw Sora in with his subjects, Marluxia and co. She resided on the very last floor of Castle Oblivion, awaiting the moment Sora would walk through the Gate below. This started a chain of events that would lead Namine to believe she was more than just a Nobody.
As soon as Sora walked through the door, Namine began to draw. Slowly, at first. She didn't want to take too many memories from him or he would realize too quickly what was happening. Marluxia had ordered turn him over to their side. Namine was almost happy it was happening, because she would finally have a friend... A person who would care for her. She had never had that before. But guilt also interfered, and she wondered what exactly was hurting her inside. The thought of a Heart didn't even cross her mind at first.
She also felt an immediate hatred for the two captors, Marluxia and Larxene. Specifically Larxene. Just hearing that Nobody take made Namine hide under her notebook in anger. She thought so hard on a way to make Sora hurt them, but in time, began to regret the thought of anybody getting hurt. If Sora did fight them, he might get hurt himself. The guilt only grew as Namine found that she was too shy to do anything about her predicament.
In time, the new memories in Sora's mind began to grow, and Kairi started to fade away. Namine couldn't speak for days as she regretted her actions, choosing to ignore Marluxia. Often he would laugh at her, calling her "a foolish witch" for attempting to feel emotions. The moment he said this was when she realized that she may have a Heart. As she sunk into a depression, she realized that she was alone in the World, and the thought of Kairi being loved by Sora finally tempted her to replace Kairi with herself in his memories. She made a lucky charm out of the Oathkeeper keychain to finalize the act. It was a paopu fruit.
Then Axel came along. He was odd... He scared her at times with his random choices of what side to act on. A wild member, he often betrayed his own to help the Light, leaving Namine to wonder what his intentions were. A semi-alliance was formed between the two, and Namine was glad that Axel was on Sora's side, whenever he chose to be.
As Axel came, so did the Replica. A puppet, made by Vexen, was given to Marluxia to use. It was... Riku! Namine was speechless as they told her what she would do with him. But under threat of death, Namine created memories in this creature too. She copied the memories that Sora had of him, filled in the blanks, and let him loose in Castle Oblivion. He held a modified card that had the same resemblance as Sora's new keepsake... The paopu fruit.
Eventually, Axel released her and she rushed to Sora. Overcome by grief of her own actions, she sought him out. At that moment, the false memories of Namine in Memory Destiny Islands explained to Sora the truth, and Sora ventured out into the halls of Castle Oblivion to find the real Namine waiting for him. There, he asked her what she had done, why she had changed his memories, and who the real person he cared for was. He had truly forgotten everything about Kairi.
The Replica appeared, claiming to be Namine's rightful protector. Riku... He was supposed to be better than Sora. Yet this Replica failed. And Sora understood exactly what the Replica was going through. In an attempt to help the Replica understand the truth, Sora let his guard down. The Replica moved in for the final blow, and Namine acted. The Replica's memories broke, and it fell to the floor, a lifeless puppet. Namine was losing her first friends...
Larxene appeared next. How Namine disliked her! She attempted to fight Sora and ended up hurting Namine, giving Sora the power he needed to destroy her. Namine explained everything after the threat of Larxene disappeared. She felt such strong emotions. Shame, sadness, and fear... They scared her even more, making it hard to her to keep control. She wanted to cry. She explained the story and looked away with shame.
Sora forgave her. At first she didn't believe, but in time, she felt happy again. She really had a friend! It was nice to feel, the fact that even in a bad situation, her friend would forgive her for her actions. She told Sora that she could bring back everything he forgot if he could defeat Marluxia, the last threat in the castle. He left to do it, saying that she should help the Replica. She felt sorrow at his fate and chose to guard him until the time came when he could forgive her too.
As Sora went to find Marluxia, she was once again kidnapped by the pink-haired man. Axel attempted to save her, but as he drew near, he revealed that the entire time, he had cared not for her. She was just his puppet, used to foil Marluxia's plans. But once again, Sora saved her. Marluxia realized that the situation was out of control and left one final order for Namine: To shatter his memories. This would destroy her heart. The fear... Namine knew that this would be her death. But Namine remembered Sora's forgiveness and shook her head. No. She wouldn't do it to her friend. But Sora said yes! She couldn't do it... Even though he was telling her to do it right there, right then. She couldn't do it...
And the Riku Replica pushed Marluxia back.
The final showdown drew near as Sora, Donald, and Goofy set out into the final door. The Replica promised her that he would protect her, and that he didn't mind the false memories. It gave him a Heart, one unique to everybody else, and it also gave him friends. He was his own person now, more than a mere replica, and he would keep her safe... He promised. After the battle, the Replica left her side to defeat the real Riku and obtain his sense of independence and self-fulfillment. Namine let him go unwillingly... She didn't think she would ever see him again.
She felt the burden of what she had done crush her as she told Sora his options. She told him that he could keep memories of her and Castle Oblivion, or he could regain the memories and not remember her. As she expected, he chose to remember his real past. The sadness must have been obvious, because Sora comforted her. He told her he would see her again. And maybe next time, they could be friends for real. She smiled. Maybe.... maybe that was actually possible. And with that, she joined DiZ, putting the trio to sleep... And she cried. She couldn't stop crying. She had lost her first friend. The Nobody stayed with Sora for quite a while before DiZ ordered her to move. Eventually, she felt better, and disappeared to Twilight Town, where she would work for a year, attempting to put his memories back in place.
Unfortunately, Sora had some leaked memories. ((I will not go further than that on the story of 358/2 Days, for Namine's part was small anyway. I wouldn't want to ruin the game for anybody else who reads this profile and hasn't played it yet. Rest assured though, I have played it.))
Kingdom Hearts II A year's worth of hard work. DiZ kept most of the plans secret. Every once in a while, Namine would see an odd man beside him. Riku. She actually accompanied him on one mission, in an attempt to recover Sora's leaked memories, but in time, he disappeared. After months of his disappearance, another figure with dark skin, Ansem, appeared with a blonde teen in his arms.
Namine felt the sadness and regret as she heard the name. Somehow, she felt that it was her fault he was here. She could read his memories... Even the ones he couldn't remember. There was the girl who looked like Kairi. It reminded her of the Riku Replica she had once cared for. She did all she could to make Roxas happy, making sure that he got many priveleges that DiZ would neglect. She looked through his memories, seeing the things he enjoyed doing, and gave a list to DiZ, telling him that it was necessary. She watched over Roxas.
Why? Well, originally, it was because he reminded her so much of Sora. She missed him greatly. And in time, she found that Roxas was remarkably different from other Nobodies, much like herself. He was his own person, not a reflection of his memories. He didn't have memories...
She began to visit him when she could, saving him from the trouble of the Nobodies. She wanted to tell him everything. They soon began to talk, and the final days before his end arrived. Often, DiZ or Ansem (she suspected it was Riku) would appear and stop her, leaving Roxas confused, and she felt guilty for not explaining it to him. It was then that her contact connected his heart with Kairi's.
The day after, she explained everything. When she saw his reaction, she apologized. She didn't want him to hate her... And then DiZ once again interfered. Roxas raged, fighting his way into the digital control room, and found Namine once again. She explained with great sadness that Roxas wouldn't just disappear. He would instead become whole. She told him that they would meet again, even if they didn't recognize each other. It reminded her of the promise a good friend made to her a year ago.
Her elimination drew near. DiZ no longer saw her necessary. She became more of a threat, as she had immense control over Sora. DiZ left Ansem (who was surely Riku) to kill her. Instead, the man left her with... Axel?
She told Axel about the bonds that they all shared, and he agreed to help her. Together, they set out to find Sora, Kairi, and Riku.
It took time, but eventually, all three had rejoined. Roxas was inside Sora, and Namine found her place beside him. Axel faded away, much to Namine's sadness, and Namine watched as Xemnas was finally defeated. It's been years, and she has finally been reborn into the Worlds.
Role Playing Sample: Namine looked around with a serene expression. Her blue eyes lit up as she saw Roxas. "You're home!" she said excitedly, putting her hands together. She gave him a steely expression. "You know, you shouldn't be gone so much. What would Axel say?"
Axel... She did miss him. In the end, they had built him a makeshift grave in their mirror existence. They were in Sora and Kairi's memories, hidden away in Twilight Town. Together, they sat on the clock tower, overlooking the beautiful city. It held quite a few people from Sora's memories. Seifer and his group patrolled the streets, as usual. Hayner and his pals constantly ran to and fro. And Roxas, he explored Sora's memories, learning of his Somebody.
Every day, he would come home with wonderful stories of Sora's achievements. He told Namine of Wonderland and the Deep Jungle, the memories Namine wasn't able to look through. Unfortunately, she was never given time to look at Sora's time away from his friends. The Organization had pressured her to work with his memories quickly, so she could only copy and paste them onto the walls of Castle Oblivion. Not once had she been able to listen to the amazing stories Roxas told her.
She smiled, cried, and sometimes wished that she had been there. It seemed so magical, the real World. "You know, Roxas," she said one day, as they watched the fading sun. "I think that one day, we'll be able to meet Sora." She smiled. "For real. As people!"
Roxas laughed. "And why do you say that?" he asked.
Namine stood up, looking over the clock tower. "We all made a promise... Remember?" She gave him that look. The complete devotion that she had shared with the few friends she had gained. Namine couldn't wait to see Sora and Kairi again. Or Axel. She wanted to see him quite badly.
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? About Namine being taken back in by the Organization, she would have the same ability to disassemble Sora's Heart. Could she possibly keep her memories from before to assure that time wouldn't repeat itself? It would also fit her story, given that she is the keeper of memories.
And about the Keyblade, I wasn't sure what combative abilities Namine might own, so I created a Keyblade to make up for her physical weaknesses. She is mostly magic-oriented, but the Keyblade is her only protection physically.
