In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Okay... if the major players in the plot suddenly vanish, who moves the plot forward? Sure, individual character plots can move, but the game's overall plot depends on the main drivers, the MAIN CHARACTERS in otherwords. By dropping them, the only way for plot to progress is to set up a new plot, driven by the OCs. Sure, it can be done. But it's not the same plot.
The reason I suggest the Location-based threads ISN'T because it makes plots go faster... it's because it makes them run smoother. So far, the vast majority of the threads that I've seen are non-plot threads, so it doesn't do much to advance plot in that case. Sure, I've seen the occasional plot thread or two, but...
Another issue I've got... Everyone and their dog seems to have a gummy ship right now. I'm not a big fan of that... I support having a FERRY SYSTEM set up, but I don't think it should be fully built yet. In otherwords, people who are in a world should STAY in that world unless they have a reason and means through which to leave. A location based thread system does this EASILY. It'd work very much like the Trains in Twilight Town, only it'd be a transit between worlds.
So, Location-based threads aren't needed for plot. But they help the RP run smoother... people go from location to location, and actually have to move reasonably between the threads. No randomly popping into major events taking place in a totally different world.
So yeah... I'm not suggesting that the current thread system doesn't work... it does. Even if I'm not used to it, it DOES WORK. But it has its limits. Basically, this is a Pros vs Cons kinda thing...
Self-Contained Plot Based: Each thread is a plot. Pros: Allows for characters to partake in multiple threads at once. This allows the Plot/Non-Plot thread system to exist - a character is in only one plot thread, but as many non-plot ones as they like. Plots are centralized. Cons: Harder to tell where a character is within a world, unless specifically stated. Easily abusable - unless otherwise enforced, characters can just go to whatever world they wish. Not very organized - it's a hodgepodge of plots with no real order to any of it.
Location Based: Each thread is a location. Pros: Well organized - since each thread is a location, and most locations are already defined (aside from the houses/apartments/etc of OCs). This means that there's no need to be making new threads, and you can easily find each location. (Ex: World That Never Was -> Castle That Never Was -> Altar of Naught) RP flows much more smoothly -- Instead of constantly having threads start and die, if a person goes inactive, whoever was interacting with them can simply do a mini-timeskip to after the interaction is over and move somewhere else. Cons: Characters can only be in one thread at a time. They must move between threads. As such, all threads are essentially plot threads. Plots are spread out between several threads, depending on where they go. Requires marking of Exists and Entrances... In otherwords, if someone posts that they move elsewhere, they must mark [exit to --> XYZ] (or similar), and if they just entered an area, they mark [enter from --> ZYX] (or similar). This can be confusing to newer RPers (though it shouldn't be much of an issue in an intermediate/advanced level RP)
Each type has their pros and cons. I'm only suggesting that people CONSIDER changing the type.
The plot is ongoing, even if it is not labeled as "Official". As said before now by numerous sources, every thread is a plot thread. Nothing is "official" anymore because everything is official. Are Canon Characters necessary? Absolutely not, by any means. They just get the most attention. I guarantee that by sending a few PM's to a few friends on the board, I could get a hell of a plotline going with nothing but OC characters, never once interacting with an Organization member, or Keywielder.
There hardly needs to be main game characters around to advance the plot. Mostly because of the simple fact that this is not the game. As soon as you step from KH2 into this board, "canon" ceases to be because you've already taken such a departure from the source. If an OC wants to claim Kingdom Hearts, that's a plot. If an OC hates another character and cuts a bloody swath across a whole World looking for him, that's a plot. Main characters are nothing more than something you're putting blame on when nothing goes on around you, but the truth is ALOT is going on around you.
This site is based towards experienced role players and writers. Regardless of what system we use (and I can guarantee that it will never change, and shouldn't change), if you're here, you're expected to mend your own plot devices. If your character has a Gummi Ship, that's not a problem as long as they can explain how they got it, which I'm sure most of us can do. Even if said "ferry system" was introduced, all that would happen is that people would say they got to another World by ferry, or it would be assumed to have happened, which honestly is no different than what's been going on to begin with. As for locations, there's likely a reason why the better majority of the World boards have seperate subboards for different locations. If you can't figure out where you are, you're simply missing obvious details and that isn't the fault of the way the board is set up and run. The "RP running much more smoothly" is your opinion, and a change from what's been working on this site for the past X number of years it's been open might help you, but you'd probably be alone in finding the transition simpler. Therefore, it's hardly a positive solution.
If it weren't for the fact that the site's main plot revolves around the canon characters, I may be in agreement with you. Like I said, if you wanna provide a plot that doesn't need Canons, throw the old one out. Otherwise, how is King Mickey going to lead his Army of Keyblade Bearers against the Org 13 and Dark 12? <_<
I'm all for plots that DON'T NEED canons, but the one we got ain't all that bad... It's just that the bad guys are slow, and the good guys are nowhere to be found.
Also, you seem to be talking about character plots. I speak of the overall plot. You know, the one this board claims to be the main plot? Yeah, that one. An OC wreaking havoc in a world because of a stupid grudge is just a minor event in comparison to an overall plot.
So, can you tell me how many people have gummi ships then? Because last I checked, I think I'm one of the VERY FEW PEOPLE that seem to actually keep their characters where they actually applied them to be at... Everyone else just posts them to be wherever, with no explanation as to why other than 'they felt like going there'. Do they explain how they got a gummy ship? NOPE.
As for the Ferry System, it would only work if you had a location based setup. They'd have to go thread by thread to that world's ferry, choose where they want to go and what not via roleplaying, and then show up on the other side. And even if Sora was like 20+ in this game, they'd not have a fully operational ferry system on EVERY SINGLE WORLD... I could see sub-plots involving people having to defend a ferry station currently in construction. How well they do determines how much longer it'll take that world to get it up and running, or if it gets connected to the system at all.
Yeah, just like how you seem to think that plot-based threads are godly for some reason? Hey, here's a shock, BLUEY was the admin for so many years, and suddenly they're gone! Poof! Just like that! And this is a thread to suggest changes to try to improve the site! And, oh! Though you've been here so many years, you're the same rank as me as far as the forum is concerned. You're no admin, that's for sure. Now then, if you'd stop your bash-fest of my ideas, and let Sephiroth comment on it, that'd be nice. After all, he's the one I suggested it to, not you. He's the one that has to approve. NOT YOU. Who knows, he might agree and change it, since he's the one that's got the power to do so, and not you. So do kindly stop bashing everything I say just because you don't like it. Perhaps you could provide some constructive criticism instead of tearing apart everything thinking you know best and that you're always right? Even I admit that just as this system has its downsides, so does the one I prefer. What's more, I was making a suggestion, not demanding it be done. I've given my argument, and I'm waiting for someone who matters to comment on it and consider it, preferably in a polite manner. And honestly... confusing an EVENT with the PLOT? How cute...
Your opinion has been noted, but without it carrying any weight, and since you continue to come across pretty brash, I'm just gonna look for someone who actually matters to give their opinion. >_>
Yay ego? I never claimed to be a staff member, last I recall. I'm not bashing any of your ideas, so sorry if my "destructive criticism" stings you. I can very easily give you the odds of the entire site up and changing what's been working for all but you versus adhereing to your constant belittlement of the system that's been in place since Day 1. I gave you a very reasonable answer to your problems and nitpicks, and no I'm not Sephiroth or Bluey, but I'm pretty sure that, since no other staff member thus far has agreed to reevaluate how World Destiny works despite your continued complaints on it, it's probably not on the top of a "To do" list.
Ferry Vs Gummi? Still player choice. Last we saw in KH2, no walls between Worlds were re-established, however there were numerous pieces of Gummi ships to be found throughout the games. Who's to say? But I'm pretty sure thats a player choice, not a mandate. I agree that the Ferry system might make sense, but ultimately, if there's so little plot to begin with, no one will pay attention to it, either.
Quote Sephiroth himself, (once again) all threads are plots. Events = Plot. Threads = Plots. Yes, the Dark XII/OrgXIII/Mickey's army might be the plot of the site, but where does it say that it is the current enacting plot? No where, I'm pretty sure. It's a backdrop now, a pretty picture to help paint the setting of the world we're part of.
But hey, apparently my "telling how it is" is equivilant to me being an insensitive jerk, although I'm right sure I wasn't the one telling people their opinions don't matter or talking down to others. First paragraph = Suggestion. Second paragraph = Observation. Third paragraph = You can't enforce unwritten rules. Direct? Sure. Bashing? Hardly.

o-o I must say why are you getting so defensive. This is what always happen when an idea comes up...it's...discussed. Let's all look at the first post please..
I would like to avoid the tendencies of bickering and unhelpfulness that permeated other such threads, so I will keep this brief with a few initial questions.
None of these are actually planned. I just want a feel for what the majority of the site wants to go for. Any ideas are welcome, but keep it constructive. I will lock this thread if it goes downhill to avoid more drama.
If you want to continue to give ideas, then stop making a big deal out of it in a mini rant when someone comments on it or this thread will be blocked. Seriously, if you can't take the heat, then get out the kitchen. I'm not saying that to bash you, but to show some order for we can..stay on track besides going of-course venting at someone because of their...constructive critism. Sure Sephy (hehe know the character doesn't like that nickname) have to approve of it, but it can't hurt to get opinions from others to see if it actually works and is agreeable. It wouldn't make sense to have something enforced that many won't go along with. ie. The momentary shut-down of this site wasn't fancied by the majority of the site's population, and they commented on it giving constructive critisism.
I would just say....everyone matters....I'm not going to rant about it, because..it's unneeded. If you can see that, then think about it before saying something like that...it would seem disrespectful from the outside looking in.
Personally, a ferry system would only be tempting for world character to travel about..which they can't and aren't permitted unless told otherwise, which is probably why individuals who have other means of transportation...is a personal route versus a community.
IN SHORT, if anyone can't take constructive criticism, then refrain from posting here. Such presence wouldn't give other chances to post, because the thread would be closed over unneeded and unhelpful agrument...whether its one-sided or not. Keep the peace and stay on task.
Lets learn from this warning before the thread gets closed because of pettiness. If you want to rant and vent...leave that to PMs or paper to rip up, burn, or delete. If you're sensitive to criticism, then send you idea..through a PM.
Keep the peace and stay on task. (a message of peace and focus) =Elaeus
The plot page probably needs rewriting. It still seems to say it's been a year since KH2 endgame, and I think time's passed.
I don't know if it'd be possible to indicate that time is passing on the board? Or to work out that 'this is at the same time as this'? That'd be really difficult, as some threads move much faster than others.
As to what the plot is, this is a story made of many parts. The plans of Ansem and Xemnas are only two pieces of it - anything could happen.
If someone could give me a heads up on what is going on with the Ferry system, I could likely give a hand. I have a fair understanding of Plane Shift, and the way it works, so things could get moved rather swiftly.
Yeah, I agree with Elaeus, Rook and Role(hah. sounds like some kind of dynamic duo. lol.). You two need to cool it with the debating. Sephiroth did say he'd shut this thread down if stuff like that happened, and we don't want that(at least, I'm assuming we don't. i could be wrong.). So, cmon, pplz! Spred di luvs! lol.
But, anyway, with that said, I have to say, i agree with the fact that the location system Role is proposing would be smoother than the current one. First off, there would be less confusing as to WHEN people are(easier to put timelines together). Plus, with the current setup, when a character moves between worlds, there can be a big of a time gap between threads, whereas with the system Role is proposing, there would be none. It would be smoother.
Of course, to make it work, there would also be new rules enforced, such as time stamps at the top of each thread to make sure WHEN a character is at that location. Also, a total timejump would have to be announced by the staff when they happen, which means there'd have to be some way to let people know(possibly an activity check?), which could make it harder to get running, at first. However, after that....is SHOULD run smoothly, taking into consideration that everyone makes use of the system how they should.
Also, I would be in favor of the transit system, because, quite honestly, it opens up new plot possiblities. The Organization and Dark XII could, in an effort to make travel between the worlds more difficult, destroy a station, or even a whole section of the transit track(assuming its a physical track).
this could lead to huge battles between armadas of gummi ships out in space, in wihch the character with gummi ships could help defend the track alongside a large number of NPC gummi ships.
Role, admittedly, has a great idea going. it would just take a LOT of work to get it incorporated into the site.....plus a little extra work for maintenance on everyone's part.
Personally, I am in favor of Role's suggestion, because, like I said, it'll move things alongg smoother, and the transit system(which I honestly think is brilliant) would, as I said(again), would give more possibilities for plot.
Why is it that every time a thread asks for ideas and suggestions, that my ideas aren't good enough and everyone just rudely bashes them instead of giving polite and constructive criticism...
There's a difference between defending your views and bashing someone... But hey, if my opinions aren't good enough for the people of this site, then so beit. Sorry for giving my opinion. It's not like I was trying to force my views on everyone. You simply asked, and I answered truthfully. Since y'all find that insulting, I'll simply shut up from now on.
To those that did give constructive criticism, though, thanks for actually being polite. It's more than I've gotten since I joined the site. Apparently I somehow pissed off a lot of people without meaning to. So thankyou, Elaeus, for being polite.
So... Rook, dunno what I did to make you hate me and bash me and my ideas every time you get the chance, or if it's just your hobby or past time, or if you really are that... odd... but hey, I'm sorry, you won't have to worry about it again. Just remember. You don't have to agree with me, but you don't have to be rude about it.

Okay, guys please. Just stop at that. I advice the both of you to stop arguing about whatever you guys are arguing about. Either talk about the ideas that Seph put out or stop posting. I don't care if I'm new, it's just unnecessary bickering. So, Rook, be the big man that you are and just don't respond to her. And Role, be the big girl that you are and don't respond to Rook. Don't feed into each other. Just makes it worse.
Actually, I was doing a combination of things - Thanking Elaeus for being polite when he disagreed with my ideas, and letting y'all know I'm not gonna be pitching any more ideas, since I'm sick of being bashed for it. You'd think that in a thread that asks you for your opinion or to give ideas, that providing your opinions and ideas would be a good thing...
Apparently, I've got a lot to learn about this site.

Haha, alright alright. I didn't mean to be hostile in anyway from my last post. Sorry if it came across that way. I was talking to both you and Rook. But alright, fair enough my friend.
Guys really, can we please have one constructive thread without arguing? Just because someone disagrees with someone elses' ideas doesn't mean they're are not being looked at and considered by staff.
All ideas are great ones and I know for a fact that the staff look at them all. We all have different opinions and we're just going to have to mesh our ideas together and create some new ideas. Not everyone is going to be happy, but if the staff find a system that works for them, they probably aren't going to change it. But i know they're open to new ideas and changing around things that aren't working.
I'm just asking that we all calm down and just present out ideas instead of trying to make them better then everyone elses'. This isn't a competition on who's ideas make it and who's don't.
