In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Plot, yes, all good.
But with so many people leaving or giving up staff positions, I really think we should take a good look at the staff and such. Hire new people if need be. (Though, if I may say so, the staff we have now is fairly capable.)
We should definitely work on advancing the plot - though not necessarily changing it, just advancing it, neh?
I'unno, that's my two cents. If it makes any sense.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. The problem isn't the plot, it's that NOBODY IS MOVING THE PLOT FORWARD.
It's one of the problems I have with letting people play major roles... People have lives, but it's the GM's job to run the game/pass the torch when needed. You can't rely on the major players to move the plot along reliably.
I mean... I just got that Petition PM thingy, and was ticked. I mean "Come on, I JUST FINALLY started getting some headway with the artist doing the art for my characters, and now THIS?!"
Luckily this thread was here...
But anywho, the problem is just that... Since this RP employs the practice of letting people play major characters in the story, people should prove their activity before being allowed to use major characters. In otherwords, only the most active and most skilled roleplayers get to play them.
There's also one more HUGE problem -- The RP's layout. Self-contained plot threads aren't exactly a good thing for an RP. Instead, I suggest changing the layout type. Have threads be LOCATIONS, not plots. Then characters move from place to place and interact with each other that way. It helps SO MUCH with fluidity in an RP... things run much smoother.
So yeah, nothing is wrong with the plot. Just make sure you find out all the stuff Bluey had planned, such as the all important "How are the Org XIII back, and what's with the Dark XII?" I'm sure that's a major part of the plot you'll need to know.
I also have one other small idea on improvement. I joined this site weeks ago(close to a month probably) and I still haven't gotten my character approved. I realize the staff is busy and all, but it gets really frustrazying when it takes a week for someone to reply to your character app. Maybe more character approving staff could help here? Idunno.....just throwing out ideas.

There's more of a forward move plot-wise now than there has been in nigh a year.
And this will continue to happen. While there does need to be GM intervention, and I agree, It's important to be able to trust players. For without them, where is the game?

I've noticed that the "bad guys" are trying to move the plot along...but they can only do so much. I just joined this site and I want to be apart of the plot and move it along. And I guarantee you I will move the plot along to the best of my ability, because it would be tons of fun.
But the "good guys", it seems, aren't doing a whole lot. And with people who don't know how to get into the plot...what do we do? People say join threads...but really. How lame is it to just be like "Rubix walks into the town and sees a couple people (who are involved in the plot) and decides to walk over to them. 'Hi! Can I be your friend?!'"
You know what I mean? I dunno....
I think I'm very impatient when it comes to this kinda stuff. If you're a good guy, please let me and everyone else who wants to be involved in the plot know. Because...yeah...plot needs to move forward with the good guys as well...Yup. And tell us how we can be involved.
Actually, I've done that. You just have to write a really really good explanation for why you're in town and why you're talking to them.
Course, good guys tend to be more reactionary. The bad guys have to start the fight, usually.
I would say, start by just talking to people. That way, you build up connections, get excuses to talk to other people, and when something goes down, you're more likely (in character) to hear about it .
I think it would be a good idea to get plots/events for each individual world created and that would give the bad guys of each world something to do. With bad guys running wild, all characters would be able to help out and defend which ever side they wish.
I concur with Sapphire. With every World having its own moderator now, I'm sure someone can through a few posts together and give meaning to the locales, especially in places like Port Royal and Wonderland.
Also, is there any way we might be able to clean up the Archive any? Maybe seperating actual RP threads from the GD and Profiles and such, so it's easier to navigate and find older articles?

True, true. The thing I say, though, is make sure you give the major roles to those whom you trust them with the most. And should they become inactive without warning, find someone else to play the character. If they gave warning, I think then the GM should step in and be the Acting Roleplayer for that character until the other person gets back. It'd help things run a heck of a lot smoother.
The other big issue I have is that it's hard to run things smoothly in a thread setup like the one y'all have. Things run much better in an RP that has each thread being a location...
That's why the staff has taken individual moderator-status over the individual Worlds. That problem has been solved. As for the thread setup that we have and it's inability to work? It works. Just not to your liking, Role. I've been on numerous board with a setup exactly like this one, and they all flourish with player participation, a problem which has also been solved, or is on its way to being so. Things DO run smoothly in our board setup. I'm not sure I see how they don't.
Seph is right. The plot has been strongly grounded, BUT it's also on its way back in, and largely on account of the player base. As he said before "All threads are plot threads". Everything you do counts towards official plot, you just need to contact people who hold higher ranking characters and try and get them in on the action.
Had a total brain ZZZZZZTTT moment there. Yeah I forgot about the World Moderator thing set up. Mah Bad.
But Rook, from Higher ranking characters do you mean characters that have been around longer or have conections to people like Org. XII, Dark XII and the sorts
The latter. Supposedly, plot cannot advance without a major canon character being present, which is a fallacy. But if you truly want to rectify that, all it takes is a PM, not unlike how I pm'd you on Marluxia, and look at the fallout.
Really it isn't about a plot moving, it's about getting off your own duff and taking initiative to get something done. THAT'S how the plot starts rolling.
